[Missing
Decorations] I am a little late with this, but I am praying
someone can help me. I had a yard sale on Cudjoe Key at 22864
Overseas Highway in front of the Tarzan Tree Care building about 2
weeks or so ago. In error, the young man helping me sold all of my
Christmas decorations. Some were made by my children and priceless
cards from relatives who've died, etc. Also, I had one child
who died and some of his things were in there.
The person who bought them told the young man, Bobby, they were
using them to decorate a tree for a non-profit. If anyone knows who
bought them I would gladly pay them to get them back, but more
importantly I am heartbroken over the loss of my personal Christmas
gifts and treasures and am begging for their return. Please help me,
it would mean so much to me and my children. Call 305-304-9303

[Diesel Fuel Leak] A boat with diesel engines
spilled many, many, gallons, maybe a hundred gallons of diesel fuel
on Newfound Harbor possibly Saturday evening or Sunday morning.
Please check your diesel tanks if you live on the west side of Big
Pine Key . The fuel has ended up in the canals and shoreline of
Little Torch Key. That’s not good for the fish, the mangroves that
sustain the fish, nor the people and bird life all around us. |
[Helicopter
takes off by itself on Indian Key] To create lift, the twist
type hand throttle (Very much like a motorcycle’s) has to have
torque applied to it. While the collective (Another device, very
much like a fighter aircraft’s ‘stick’ designed to control the angle
of the rotors) needs to be either pushed forward or drawn back as
the rudder pedals are put into play at the same time.

[The Editor Sucks] The adolescent, potty humor
on display on this web site seems to me to be a sad commentary on
the state of our culture. Not to mention the public school system.
What little it takes to amuse the readers and contributors here is
disgusting. The galloping illiteracy, not least of which comes from
the publishers themselves, is stunning. Folks, you have to have some
vague, working knowledge of the language before you can call
yourselves "editors", okay?
"Ed" this or that - Christ. Over the years your compilation of
screwed up syntax, your own improperly substituted language and
misspellings, or expunging of whole sentences to deliberately change
the tone, color, message or meaning of the submission, while
ridiculing them by adding your fatuous headings, coupled with your
overwhelming ignorance of the English language makes one wonder how
you manage to get this thing on the web at all. "That sentence too
long". Cut. Chop. Punctuate. Paragraph. "Me a editor". You can't be
bothered to pick up a dictionary, and when you or your inevitably
feeble spell check run across a word you never heard before - you
never heard of it, must not exist. On the other hand you goddamn
sure would like some advertising revenue. I won't mention your
rapier wit, and subtle, keen, philosophical commentary by way of
that stupid parenthetic question mark.(?) (Who needs it)
But, I suppose maybe you know your readership. Like the folks who
need to fabricate or hybridize their own language, thinking it's
clever or funny. It isn't. Suppose you take the trouble to learn the
most basic fundamentals of your language? It's more than adequate,
and you'd soon learn to have reverence for it. With a familiarity,
you would have no need of some contrived "new word for your
vocabulary", you would know there already is a word "Pelosi".
Mine has been swollen since last week, after squeezing out a harry
reid. |

Physiatrist are sorely need for our military.
They are scouring the nation trying to find those willing to treat
the enormous amount of mental patients caused by repeated
deployments to the Middle East. This was never a problem before
because the standard term in Vietnam was one year. Not so in the
Middle East. Some troops are on their fifth tour. |

[Holiday
Tree]
I am a Christian and have no problem with calling a
Christmas tree a Holiday tree. The fact is that the Christmas tree
has never represented a religious idea but rather the idea of
renewal that accompanied the winter solstice. We associate Christian
ideas with the tree but it is not inherently Christian. Does the
Bible tell us all to decorate trees with lights and tinsel to
celebrate the birth of Christ? Is Santa in the Bible? Nonsense!
These symbols have become beautiful traditions in our
society to represent a warm and meaningful season. Malls and
stores around the world display this beautiful tree. It represents a
different meaning to everyone. To stores, it represents the start
of a very lucrative season to bring in the shoppers and make money.
Some people look at it and are reminded of the birth of Christ while
others view it as a symbol that represents family, love, peace and
gift giving. As a Christian, I don't have any problem sharing this
beautiful custom with everyone. Calling it a Holiday tree is fine
with me. Christians should share the love and spread the word. The
poster who brought this subject up ended his post by saying "screw
you". Maybe he should consider the real teachings of Christianity
and stop worrying about if a tree is called a Christmas tree or a
Holiday tree. |

Key
West High School construction students
travel to Orlando. State Farm, Habitat for Humanity, Florida Learn
and Serve, Monroe Youth Challenge Program, and Key West High School
team up to change the lives of 18 students in a service learning
project. This project is part of a newly-created program at Key West
High School. It provides training for youth in the construction
trade and helps Key West residents make home improvements through
Habitat for Humanity. This program is designed to simultaneously
improve the students' academic achievements.
The mission is to help these select students leave
high school with an employable skill as well as the character to be
productive and engaged citizens in their community. Four of the
top-performing students were given the opportunity to gain a broader
perspective of service learning by attending the 18th Annual Service
Learning Conference in Orlando.
While there, juniors and sophomores Roger Matamoros,
Jonathan Cruz, Zachary Martin, and Alberto Lopez met with State Farm
representatives who were enthused to hear details about their
project. State Farm is the largest corporate donor in Florida for
service learning.
Monroe Youth Challenge Program is a project of the
Monroe County Education Foundation to build Developmental Assets®
and create opportunities so every child in Monroe County can feel
safe, loved, and celebrated. For more information call MYCP Director

Many
thanks to Linda Spencer and the Big Pine Key Moose Lodge for
offering a place to go to actually do something for the men and
women overseas, filled with American spirit. Yesterday we made
recycled Christmas ornaments to send to the troops. Something so
simple will send waves of love, peace, and respect to many far away.
It certainly made my heart full to imagine them receiving them
in the middle of a war. Life is moments. I know we created a few
smiles sent across the miles. Dream big. Dare to care. Happy
Holidays! |

[My religion is better than yours] They are
not a danger as long as they stay in the Middle East. They can’t
harm us from there. It’s the ‘American” Muslims that we must be
afraid of. I do agree with some of this statement. We do need
to somehow get rid of convert Muslims in this country. Maybe by
teaching them a true religion. I think of Islam of some sort
of cult that has gotten out of hand. You learn the stupid things
they preach and have to laugh at how stupid or angry someone must be
to believe that crap. It doesn’t have to be Christian, just a real
religion. But, we need to do something over there too because 9/11
proved that just because they are over there, they can hurt us.
Sitting down reading this you know you also believe this as most
Americans do. Any crying that Islam is a true religion is just
showing how stupid you are. |

Can anyone say, Nationalized Health Care?
Britain's shame over the cancer toll on women is nearly the worst in
Europe. British women are more likely to die from cancer than those
in almost every other European country, an alarming report has
revealed. Death rates here are worse than those in Croatia, Russia,
Bulgaria and Lithuania. Overall England, Wales, Scotland and
Northern Ireland are all in the bottom ten of a cancer mortality
'league table' covering 36 European nations. It comes despite
Labour tripling funding for the Health Service since 1997. Health
experts say the obesity epidemic, Britain's booze culture and lack
of cancer drugs and doctors on the NHS are all to blame. Although
death rates for most types of cancer are falling in the UK, the
country still lags behind most of Europe. Despite the huge increase
in funding, only 5 to 6 per cent of NHS expenditure goes on cancer
compared with 7 per cent in France and 9 per cent in Germany. The
poor record has also been blamed on the rationing watchdog Nice
which decides whether treatments are cost effective. Two years ago
a Swedish study criticized the UK for the 'low and slow' access to
cancer drugs and warned that thousands were dying because of
pointless delays. Last year cancer tsar Professor Mike Richards
admitted that the NHS spent half as much per head on cancer drugs as
some other European countries. |

A
Christmas Jar is a pickle jar, peanut butter jar, Mason jar
or whatever else you have around to collect your spare change each
day. All coins are dedicated to the jar, and during the week before
Christmas you carefully select someone to give it to, anonymously.
Was a neighbor laid off? Is a coworker struggling with health
problems? Has a friend lost a loved one? Simply put your jar on
their porch, in their car, on their desk--wherever--and you could
change their life for good.
$50, $100, even $200, you'll be surprised how much
change you can generate and how much you can affect someone's life.
All year each time you put something in the jar you will get a good
feeling.
To whom will you give a Christmas Jar this year?

[Corruption for Sale] While you're bashing
Pelosi, don't forget to mention orange-man-Boehner's little
escapades. Boehner spent a total of $31,474.11 on a golf fundraiser
for friends, lobbyists and anyone else who wanted intimate tee time
with the House's top Republican. On several occasions, Mr. Boehner
was a guest of Albert L. Lord, who was Sallie Mae's chief executive
officer from 1997 to 2005 and is now chairman of its board, on the
company's corporate jet, primarily for golf outings in Florida. |
[Semantics]
Never argue with a pig. It will waste your time, and it will just
annoy the pig.
I've observed here how conservatives willingly cede the defining
moments of a debate by accepting, and even parroting the terminology
of the left. As long as we continue to let the left frame the
argument, the picture we attempt to paint may not matter. When the
debate is defined by their vernacular (global warming, gun control,
healthcare, and all the rest), we sustain the uphill battle in our
quest to have our views completely understood. Our words should
define our beliefs in as much as the Liberal terminology defines the
beliefs of the Left.
For Example:
Liberal phraseology: "Global Warming" or "Global Climate Change."
You mean - "The theory of man-made global climate change or "The
theory of mankind's interference in the Earth's natural temperature
fluctuations".
The operative word being "Theory", because regardless of what
non-scientists like Al Gore say, the debate isn't over. There is no
consensus. The temperature has been changing since the beginning of
time
Liberal phraseology: "Greenhouse Gasses".
You mean - "Carbon Dioxide - the essential ingredient for all plant
life"
Where are the tree huggers when you need them?
Liberal phraseology: "Gun Control".
You mean - "Disarming the law abiding populace".
The reason the Founders endowed us with the second amendment was to
protect us from a tyrannical Government.
Liberal phraseology: "Universal Health Care".
You mean - "Access to affordable health Insurance".
We have the best Health Care system in the world. What we need is
more competition among Insurers and cost effective group plans.
Liberal phraseology: "Equal Rights for (fill in the blank)"
You mean - "Preferential Treatment for (fill in the blank)".
If any member of society gets preferences, it cannot be considered
"equal". If we substitute the words "White" or "man" for (fill in
the blank), would it still be considered "equal"?
Liberal phraseology: "Public Assistance Programs" or "Government
program"
You mean - "Taxpayer subsidized entitlement programs" or "Taxpayer
funded appropriation"
Rule Number One - The Government has no money. They are not a
revenue generating entity. The Government is a drain on prosperity.
They re-allocate resources. How much more money would you have in
your pocket if you had a 50% tax cut?
Liberal phraseology: "The plight of the Homeless".
You mean - "People who are victims of their own poor choices - with
the exception of the mentally incompetent".
People have learned they don't have to be responsible for themselves
if the Nanny State continues to bail them out. And go ahead and
concede the bank bailouts as the same thing.
So, when you hear a liberal (or even a moderate) use the Liberal
phraseology, just chime in with "Oh, you mean …". They will have no
argument, and you have re-booted the debate on your terms. |

[Hates
AA] At every Alcoholics Anonymous meeting they pass the basket
and most attendees put in a buck. This doesn’t sound like a lot of
money until you do the math. Thousands of meetings are held each day
in the US alone. Part of the money collected every day is funneled
towards the top of the chain. AA World Services has over
$11,000,000.00 cash in the bank, not counting their assets. Their
tops members even have 401K plans with their retirement packages
paid out of this fund. Ask your meeting treasurer to show you a copy
of AA’s 2008 financial statement. You as an individual can send AA
up to three grand. Yes, there are leaders, the bleeding deacons and
the old timers all the way to the top of the chain that keep the
cult going. As to recruitment, what would call going to the jails
and institutions spreading the lies of AA. The big book uses the
word God 143 times. Quotes from AA literature “and that one is the
almighty God”. “Let go and let God” what do you really think they
are talking about, your bedpan.
Yes, your
higher power can be anything as you understand him. That is an old
con man’s trick of bait and switch. AA has only been around for
about 70 years and will die its own death from its own mystical
beliefs because they refuse to change. What happened prior to AA,
did all alcoholics die an alcoholic death without this failed
program? People do come and go as they please. 3 out of every 100
that stay for one year is not a good statistic and these numbers
come from the AA triennial report. You’re right, AA doesn’t do
anything when someone leaves other than shun them. AA doesn’t care
if they die as long as the money keeps flowing. When you attend AA
they would like you to park you brains outside before you come
inside as they will tell you sit down and not to think. |

[From
the Right] Yesterday a poster gigged Sarah Palin. Ms. Palin’s book is
making her a fortune only because of the hordes of folks who buy it. Not
withstanding the single biggest hate campaign in history, it had one of the
most massive pre publication buys of any book in history. She is a massively
popular politician; her favorable ratings are now at par with Mr. Obama. Ms.
Palin’s numbers grow while Mr. Obama’s slide. She is popular because of her
beliefs, primarily minimal government. It’s understandable why Ms. Palin
really scares L/P’s. Yesterday’s Palin panning poster called for raising the
tax rate. He suggests that 70% would be appropriate. Why not 90 or 99%? Why
not just outlaw aspiring to anything more than adequacy? I wish that he/she
would tell us exactly how taking money out of circulation to finance an orgy
of entitlements will make our moribund economy come to life. The L/P poster
“glossed over” the cause of our current travails. That’s understandable
given that it was Democrat policy and oversight that were direct and
proximate causes. It was Democrat initiatives that drove the entire debacle.
The poster ignores the fact that Mr. Bush and JFK and Mr. Reagan inherited a
recession that was cured by tax cuts. Those tax cuts delivered burgeoning
economies. Despite the .com crash and the 2 theater war after 9/11, and the
Clinton recession, our economy flourished until the 2006 take of Congress by
the Democrats. I trust that the astute reader will note that the poster
made no mention of making cuts in government spending to reduce the
deficit..
(Part II)
Yesterday’s feckless war protesting poster is incredibly short sighted and
naïve. He/she prefers a vulnerable America, an America that bows its head
and invites attack. Make no mistake, every war is a bad war. WW2 was a bad
war, a war that we did not start, but it was a war we had to win. Like WW2
we did not start the war on terror, but we must win it. 9/11 was but the
last straw in a decades long series of attacks on Americans. The war in
Afghanistan was initiated with the overwhelming support of Democrats and
Republicans. Since 2006 the Democrats have had the power to end the war by
cutting the purse strings. They have chosen not to. Our current President
has chosen not to end his war. I commend him. The Taliban and AQI are like
two sides of the same coin.
In cancer terms, one is squamous cell, one is, one is adenocarcinoma, both
cancers, slightly different, both curable, but deadly. Our enemy is a
malignancy. Their ideologies are identical, and so the Taliban provides AQI
with cover, cash, and shooters. The Taliban is local and AQI is
international. We must destroy all the cancer cells of Muslim Fundamentalist
Terrorism. I pray that even the most myopic anti war activist will concede
that our homeland has been the target of repeated terrorist attacks. I pray
that they will concede that a torrent off attacks is the holy grail of the
terrorists. I hope that they can recognize that it this armed conflict that
has kept us safe in our homes since 9/11. Don’t ever forget that these
people are completely dedicated to killing every infidel. That means you!
With our enemies in possession of nuclear technology, we must excise every
clinging malignant terrorist entity. We must deny them tissue in which to
grow and flourish. Look, I hate, make that despise, having skin cancers
removed. I hate having root canals procedures. I hate radical mastectomies.
Most of all, I hate war, our family is blessed to have loved ones in the
conflict who labor to keep us safe. The sad fact is that sometimes pain is
necessary to survive. Wearing daisies in our hair, singing kum ba yah,
feeling righteous, and waving signs, will not keep us safe. |

In Palin’s book the only positive thing she says, in a
book filled with vengeance, is that we should lower taxes for the wealthy
and control public spending. (She glosses over the reasons for our economic
collapse). Her lack of ideas is one reason she’ll never be President.
Contrary to Republican ideology we should be raising
taxes on the wealthy. Since World War II the top income tax rate was 70%, or
double of what it is now. Was our economy crippled? No. For most of those
years it thrived. We could be paying much higher taxes than we are now
enabling us to pay for the education and healthcare reform we need while
reducing the deficit. Higher rates can be deferred until the economy
recovers, but we should enact legislation now to take effect then and show
that Americans take fiscal responsibility seriously. |

Some can’t see the similarities with Vietnam and
Afghanistan (or they don't want to see) so here’s another example.
Nguyn Van Thieu and Nguyen Cao Ky were the leaders of South
Vietnam, and the US’s attempt to help them defeat the communist North was
ruined by their corruption and carelessness. The corrupt Karzai government
in Afghanistan seems to be more of a joke; and continuing to prop it up
would be repeating history.
There is not one observer who doesn’t agree that the regime
is corrupt. Only Karzai argues that it isn’t. When confronted recently by
Joe Biden about the corruption, Karzai got all huffy and vehemently denied
any corruption. Flabbergasted, by his lies, the US Vice President walked out
of the meeting.
If there was an honest government the people would support
it. As it is now the people are trying to govern themselves with warlords as
they have always done. |

The two most respected professions in America are doctors and lawyers. Yes
we all say we hate lawyers, but whenever anyone is bragging about the classy

were doctors and lawyers there.” They never say there were carpenters and

[Did you want a real debate on AA or just the
freedom to lob angry, smart-assed remarks?] Holy Higher-Power sensitive
AA follower; read that statement aloud. It makes zero sense. How can an AA
member debate when they do not allow any cross talking and most are
brainwashed into thinking the only way to stay sober is to attend meeting
after meeting listening to the same story over and over? If you say what’s
on your mind and, higher-power forbid, think on your own, you will be
labeled a “dry drunk”. Ask an old-timer the definition of “dry drunk”. He or
she will tell you it is thinking now like you did when you were drinking.
So now I must think AA brags and commends itself to having
members from all professions; doctors, lawyers, politicians, etc. now if
this theory is correct, all these people who are now clean and sober were
not thinking straight when they were drinking hence, stinking-thinking.
The ramifications of this change in decision making by these individuals is
frightening. How is the statement I’m never drinking again repeated
twelve times, a smart-assed remark? It’s a chant, and chanting is what they
do at meetings. I wish Ed had published the cartoon that accompanied the
post. AA has indeed helped many people take a good look at themselves, but I
have witnessed many a person walk away with total resentment. Call AA what
you may but the bottom line is it is cliquish.
A young man I knew confessed to his father that he had fallen
off the wagon and after lengthy discussion about AA and recovery, the father
said to him, “Son I don’t think you fell off the wagon, you jumped!”
Co-dependency on a clique is sheepish, and don’t get me going on
sponsorship. They have an ulterior motive, just like all liberals, they do
it to make themselves feel good. Debate? I am a free thinking individual who
takes responsibility and ownership in all my actions and I do have ethics,
morals and the ability to discern right from wrong. Acronym for the day GAG

The Christian Side-Hug (or the CSH, as the kids call it) rids us of sin, as
the only below the belt contact will be some good old-fashioned hip on hip
action. I believe this new fad was dished up by "The Coalition Against
Boners".

Two crates of Scotch whisky which belonged to explorer Ernest Shackleton
are to be dug up after a century buried in the Antarctic ice. Shakleton
brought 25 crates of
Scotch with him when he set off on an expedition to the South Pole in 1907--just
in case!

[Our
Cups Runeth Over] The promises: Breast-a-holics for those suffering from
Breastizm. If we are pleased about this phase of our breastizm recovery, we
will be amazed at how great they developed. We are going to know a new
freedom and a new happiness once we unhook the clasps. We will not regret
their slow development and always be willing to lift our cups to expose
them. We will comprehend the word beautiful as we develop a good set of
twins. No matter how far down the scale they have sagged, we will see how
our implants can impress others. That feeling of self pity will disappear.
We will gain interest in ourselves and show our breasts to our fellows. New
found self-esteem will let the bra slip away. Our whole appearance will
change. Fear of being flat-chested and of small cup size will leave us. We
will intuitively know how to handle the great twins. We will suddenly
realize that the Miracle Bra is doing for us what we could not do for
ourselves.
Are these real promises? We think so. Our cups are being filled for
us—sometimes small, sometimes large. They will always develop if we massage
them. |

[World’s
Strongest Beer] Booze
maker BrewDog's new tipple - called Tactical Nuclear Penguin - is an
incredible 32 per cent.
But bosses of the
controversial drink firm, based in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, were branded
irresponsible for selling the potent brew. Jack Law, chief executive of
Alcohol Focus Scotland, said: "It is child-like attention-seeking by a
company that should be more responsible. "The fact that they have achieved a
new world record is not admirable. "It is a product with a lot of alcohol in
it - that's all. To dress it up as anything else is cynical. "It's as strong
as whisky, so you have to ask whether this is actually a beer or a spirit -
it's clearly a spirit."
Tactical Nuclear
Penguin beats the previous world record of 31 per cent which was held by
German beer Schorschbraer. It was placed in the Guinness Book of World
Records yesterday after being tested by experts at Edinburgh's Heriot-Watt
University.
The beer began as
a 10 per cent imperial stout then was aged for 16 months in two different
whisky casks. It was then stored in a freezer at a chilly -20°C for three
weeks to reach its massive alcohol level. BrewDog boss James Watt said:
"This beer is about pushing boundaries. It is about achieving something
which has never before been done and putting Scotland firmly on the map for
progressive, craft beers.
"This beer is
bold, irreverent and uncompromising." Only 500 bottles of the beer are
available with prices starting at £30. |

With regard to there being no Social Security cost of
living adjustment (COLA) for 2010 and a Medicare Part B premium
increase. I have explained this before. Evidently it didn't get through so I
will try again.
There is a "hold safe" provision in the law which says that
if there is no Social Security COLA, there can be no increase in the Part B
Medicare premium. So the $96.40 monthly premium will remain the same for
2010. This is true for anyone who is having the Medicare Part B premium
deducted from their Social Security payments, which is the way it is done in
the majority of cases. Please spread this accurate information to all the
seniors you know. |

With all the talk
about the new Healthcare plan what is never mentioned is that if it
becomes law, the tax to pay for it begins immediately, but the benefits do
not begin until 2014. If you believe that the taxes collected will go into
an untouchable fund until then, you probably believe in Santa Claus also.
Social Security is a good example. All the money goes into the general fund,
and a paper I.O.U. is issued, that is backed by nothing. That is why SS will
go broke in a few years. The money was supposed to go into an interest
bearing trust. This government is bankrupt and by 2014 there will be no
funds to pay for any healthcare or Social Security. |

Someone from the current administration is going to assume czar-like power
over the airline industry? If he can get the planes off on time, and
there on time, I'm for it. Even better if he stops them charging for
baggage. You never know, it might be for the best. I hear that Monica
Lewinsky might be available, and we all know that she got Bill off early. |
[Traffic]
This is a film taken from the "dash" of a San Francisco Trolley in 1909. The
image flips just a few times but 99% of the video is good quality footage.
It's interesting to see how the people on the street acted in those days.
Cars are right hand drive. If there were any traffic or jaywalking laws at
the time they clearly weren't enforced. If you can't stand modern drivers
then take a look at what our grandparents and great grandparents had to deal
with.
The song playing is called “La Femme d’Argent” by a band called Air.

See
how all of the balls wind up in catcher cones. This incredible machine
was built as a collaborative effort between the
Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory and the Sharon Wick School of
Engineering at the University of Iowa.
Amazingly, 97% of the machines components came from
John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of Bancroft, Iowa.
Yes, farm equipment!
It took
the team a combined 13,029 hours of set-up, alignment, calibration, and
tuning before filming this video but as you can see, it was well worth the
effort. It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard
Alumni Hall at the University and is already slated to be donated to
the Smithsonian.

I
will never forget
9/11 as long as I live. I just finished viewing
two dozen aerial photos of the Twin Towers and the aftermath.
The radical Muslim world, by this act, declared war on
America just as surely as the Japs did on December 7th. 1943. I served in
the military in peace time, and all was just as you said. It was a cold war,
however can you imagine the massacre if the Soviets managed to sneak in an
Airborne Division under the radar into Alaska and drop them on a military
base? They knew that the GI's didn't have access to weapons. That was then,
and this is now. There is a war on. I suggest keeping a lookout wherever you
go. You never know where a Muslim will pop up. |

My
office lies at the bottom of the sea. I wear a
wetsuit to the office and this time of year the water is quite cool. So
what we do to keep warm is this: We have a diesel powered industrial water
heater. This $20,000 piece of equipment sucks up sea water and heats it to
a delightful temperature. It then pumps the warmed sea water down to the
diver through a garden hose which is taped to the air hose. This is a good
set up and we've used it several times with no complaints. Now what I do
when I get to the bottom and start working is to take the hose and stuff it
down the back of my wet suit. This floods my whole suit with warm water.
It's like working in a Jacuzzi.
Everything was going well until all of a sudden my butt started to itch.
So, of course, I scratched it. That only made things worse. Within a few
seconds my butt started to burn. I pulled the hose out from my back, but
the damage was done. In agony, I realized what had happened. The hot water
machine had sucked up a jellyfish and pumped it into my suit! Luckily I
don't have any hair on my back so the jellyfish couldn't stick to
it. However, the crack of my butt was not as fortunate. When I scratched
what I thought was an itch, I was actually grinding the jellyfish into the
crack of my butt.
I
informed the dive supervisor of my dilemma over the communicator. His
instructions were unclear due to the fact that he, along with five other
divers, were all having a meltdown of hysterical laughter. Needless to say
I aborted the dive. I was instructed to make three agonizing in-water
decompression stops totaling thirty-five minutes before I could reach the
surface to begin my dry chamber decompression. When I arrived at the
surface, I was wearing nothing but my brass helmet. As I climbed out of the
water, the medic, with tears of laughter running down his face, handed me a
tube of cream and told me to rub it on my butt as soon as I got in the
chamber. The cream put the fire out, but I couldn't poop for two days
because my butt was swollen shut.
So
the next time you're having a bad day at work, think about how much worse it
would be if you had a jellyfish shoved up your butt. Now repeat to yourself,
“I love my job, I love my job, I love my job.” And whenever you have a bad
day, ask yourself, Is this a jellyfish bad day? |

[Contractors with guns] They tell us that each soldier
deployed to war costs $100,000,000 a year. What they failed to mention is
that for every soldier over there, there is a private “contractor” over
there, costing us just as much. I think it’s time to end this senseless war. |
|
The
Taliban had nothing to do with 9/11. The Taliban
is trying to set up an Islamic state. We have no business interfering with
them. We do have business eliminating al Qaeda.
Afghanistan is very much like the quagmire of Vietnam. We are
doing just what we did in that Southeast Asian country: sending in more and
more troops with no clear goals except to bring security to the country. We
were wrong in Vietnam and we are wrong in Afghanistan. Leave now and target
al Qaeda from afar with our high tech gizmos.
“Better to fight them in their homes than in our homes.” What
drivel! They are not a danger as long as they stay in the Middle East. They
can’t harm us from there. It’s the ‘American” Muslims that we must be afraid
of. It’s time we address the real problem and that is Muslims in America.
That’s another similarity with Vietnam. The South Vietnamese were
‘friendlies” during the day and at night they tried to kill us. The only
way we could have won in Vietnam would have been to blow up the entire
country and kill all the people. That is another similarity with
Afghanistan. How many more similarities must I point out before it becomes
obvious?
Afghanistan is not the righteous war the right wishes it to
be; it is the wrong war fought for the wrong reasons. We went there to kill
al Qaeda. There’s only about a hundred of them left. NATO and the US have
over 71,000 troops there to kill 100 people. I say that we have another
agenda in addition to revenge for 9/11 on the 100 remaining al Qaeda. |

[New
word for your vocabulary] Years ago when I sometimes used unsavory
language, I often used the expression "Bull Sh**." As I grew up a bit and
discovered it was not necessary to use such crude language, that expression
became "BS" or, in the military, "Bravo Sierra". What did I really mean when
I used those expressions? I meant that something was ridiculous, idiotic, a
half-truth, or just stupid. It covered any number of negative formats. The
dictionary defines it as: nonsense; especially foolish insolent talk.
I have decided that I will no longer use either of those
expressions in the future. When I have the need to express those feelings, I
will use the word "Pelosi". Let me use it in a sentence. "That's just a
bunch of Pelosi." I encourage you to do the same. It is such a good word. It
really packs a lot of punch. We are no longer being vulgar but it clearly
expresses our feelings. If enough of us use it, it's possible we can get the
word in the dictionary. That would be an excellent legacy for the Speaker of
the House. |

[From the
Right] If you ever hear any liberal/progressive gripe that conservatives
are cruel got-miners, tell them that they are full of donkey dung. There is
solid research that proves that L/P’s are actually the super-cheap
got-miners. Dr. Arthur C. Brooks, in his 2006 book: "Who Really Cares: The
Surprising Truth About Compassionate Conservatism", shows just how wrong the
L/P’s are. Brooks, a registered independent voter, found that liberals are
downright stingy compared to conservatives. Conservatives are not the fat
cats; the liberals are the big fat orange Garfield’s amongst us. Liberal
families earn an average of 6% more than Conservative families. Yet the
average conservative gives 30% more to charity than does the liberal family.
Conservatives give until they bleed: they give more blood and the give more
time to community efforts. Dr. Brooks’s research showed that people who
reject the idea that "government has a responsibility to reduce
income inequality" give an average of four times more than people who
accept that proposition. Brooks' found that the numbers of self described
Democrats who say they have “no religion” has quadrupled since the ‘70’s. He
says that our nation is divided between religious givers and secular non
givers. The former are disproportionately conservative. A stunning example
is uber liberal Al Gore who in 2000, while VP, gave only a paltry 0.2
percent of his family income, one-seventh of what the average family
donates. Brooks said “conservatives tend to regard giving as a personal
rather than governmental responsibility. Some liberals consider private
charity a retrograde phenomenon -- a poor palliative for an inadequate
welfare state, and a distraction from achieving adequacy by force, by
increasing taxes.” Isn’t that a just dandy notion, the liberal notion of
“achieving adequacy by force” ! It’s amazing, but the liberals don’t
like charity because they believe that charity diminishes the power of
government and that “adequacy” is a laudable goal. That is really
incredible! This Right Winger is certain that this information will make
many of our liberal friends’ froth, so I suggest that both conservatives and
liberals learn more about it at the current favorite site of some of our
liberal friends:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/03/conservatives_more_liberal_giv.html
(Part II)
For
the 5 years, ’00 thru ’04 Mr. Obama’s income averaged about $250K per year.
That a lot more than This Right Winger and the vast majority of the folks on
BPK make, but his charitable contributions averaged 7/10ths of 1%. What a
generous fellow. During that same time period Mr. Biden averaged about the
same income but donated only an average of twelve one hundredths of one
percent (0.12%) in deductions. Folks, that’s really, really cheap. The
average family donates between 2% and 3% of their income. But Mr. Obama and
Mr. Biden have theirs, and they aren’t parting with it. I’ll save our
liberal pals from embarrassment; I’ll refrain from publicizing the
charitable donations of Mr. Bush during the same time period. Suffice it say
that it was one hell of a lot more than either of those two famously
generous* Liberals. (*with your money) |

[GOD BASHING]
Is God just a
crutch?
The answer is a resounding, yes
… if you look at the word "crutch" and put it in
the context of the support afforded by a
meaningful relationship with a higher power.
Somehow, atheists
have twisted this into a mark of
weakness or unhealthy dependence. The simple act of
faith offers those of us who possess it
much in the way of learning to treat each other
with more love and respect. To that end, it doesn't matter
if faith is
something real to YOU or whether God exists.
Faith comprises a
wealth of interpersonal knowledge. My faith
is a relationship, not a religion. And it’s
personal … which means I don’t have any
vested interest in telling you what
to think or belittling your faith in atheism.
The ease with which you display intolerance for the
value systems of others is quite frankly shocking
… but not in the least surprising. |

In 1936, Pierre Cot, the Communist French Air Minister (could we perhaps
call him the "Air Czar"), nationalized the nation's aircraft industry. The
effect on production was devastating and the resulting chaos is thought to
be a major factor in France's pitiful performance when attacked by the
Germans in 1940.

Take a look around. How can you possibly think that all
of masses of people and their machines and activities that have fairly
recently accumulated on this planet can go on about their business
without having some effect on the atmosphere? Our atmosphere[air]
extends up about 55 miles, the distance from Key West to Marathon. Take
a globe of our planet and a pair of dividers, set the dividers to the
distance between Key West and Marathon on the globe and swing them up.
That's our air supply.

MARATHON,
FLA. (433 words) – Members were moved as friends Luis Fernandez (at
left) and Roberto Alonso (center) delivered powerful speeches the day
Toastmasters Area 54 Governor Marion Lang visited the Middle Keys
Toastmasters Club.
In Fernandez’
ice-breaker he recounted “A Parents’ Worst Nightmare.” It was a tale of
intense responsibility as the oldest sibling, at age 10, to get his
younger sisters safely from Cuba to America. He shared of his love for
the nuns at St. Aloysius Orphanage in Cincinnati, Ohio who he credits
for much of his character development.
“His flawless
first-speech serves as an excellent piece of oral history of the Cuban
immigration struggle. It is an honor to hear his story and have men like
him in our membership,” said President Chris Bull.
Bookending the days’ speeches was Roberto Alonso, a
good friend of Fernandez’ who completed his 10th and final
Competent Communicator manual speech. The objective was to inspire which
he did with emphatic hand gestures, powerful quotes, and personal
stories. He started with this part of Winston Churchill’s quote,
“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak.” Then he went on to
share examples of courage and ended with the rest of the quote, “courage
is also what it takes to sit down and listen.”
Club members had the
privilege of hearing Lang speak. All three speeches are available online
at
http://www.middlekeystoastmasters.org.
Toastmasters International is a world
leader in helping people become more competent and comfortable in front
of an audience. The nonprofit organization has nearly 235,000 members in
11,700 clubs in 92 countries. Toastmasters meetings have 10-15 people
who meet twice a month for an hour.
Participants learn skills by filling a
meeting role, ranging from giving a prepared speech or an impromptu one
to serving as timer, evaluator or grammarian. There is no instructor;
instead, each speech and meeting is critiqued by a member in a positive
manner, focusing on what was done right and what could be improved.
Middle Keys Toastmasters meets the second
and fourth Tuesday of the month from 7:45 a.m. until 9 a.m. The first
meeting of the month is held in Marathon at the Coldwell Banker Schmitt

"[Mr President]
No one ever called George W bush “Mr” Bush." This is one of the biggest
lies ever told on this site. President Bush had at least a half a dozen
nick-names and none of them were as polite as "Mr. Obama". Remember "Dubya"?
And give up the racist crap. As another poster correctly stated, a black
man now holds the highest office in the nation. Only a true racist would
play the race card now. Why do you believe it's not possible to disagree
with our president based on his policies and ideas? Throw that whole
skin color thing in the trash. I'm still waiting for the updated list of
his accomplishments. You know, the ones that are based on facts, not
opinions.

[citizens have become so
self-centers and selfish that we won’t do the right thing anymore] This
citizen wants to do it locally, through local charities and
organizations, not process it through the feds and give everyone up and
down the chain handfuls of cash. When I 'give' it's intended to actually
help people, not fund more inefficient bureaucracies with
plenty of cracks for the cash to slide into. Show me Medicaire can be

and I'll let the feds expand it.

[12 STEPS
RESPONSE]
I’ll take a wild guess
and deduce that was supposed to be sarcastic. But as usual you miss the
point on so many levels. Millions of us have said
“I’m never drinking/drugging again” … only to have
the obsession and compulsion to do so overtake us, sometimes when we least
expected it and even when we asked God to remove our misery. It’s not the
drinking and drugging that’s the problem
per se … those were just
the failed solutions. You keep
focusing on the bait and not
the hook. Stopping is easy. It’s the starting again where it gets a lot
trickier. And that’s all
tied-in to – among other
things -- the wreckage of the past, emotions, low
self worth, ego, selfishness, fear … and crossing
that invisible line where recreational use turns into physical abuse.
Affirmations not to use ever again didn’t work for most of us. Your way
smacks of Nancy Reagan’s “just say no”. The
scourge of addiction didn’t diminish since she put those
immortal words into the public consciousness almost thirty years ago. But if
it works for you … great. That will make room for
one more person at our meetings who brings with them all that we ask
… a true desire to stop using.
Did you want a real

angry, smart-assed remarks? |

[Ridiculeus policy] Every one knows that Israel is in a
state of war with the Palestinians. Don't you think it is about time
that the American public be in formed that the USA is in a state of war
with the Muslims. This attitude of "It's just happening over there."
just don't cut it any more. Believe it or not, on a military base
anywhere in the USA all small arms are locked up, and no one has a
firearm of any kind other than a few MP's and duty officers. Those 12
soldiers died needlessly because the lack of foresight of some
politically correct high ranking officers, and the lack of trust on the
part of the officers in the GI's. A police officer is on duty 24 hrs. a
day, and carries his weapon. A soldier is on duty 24 hrs. a day also.
Why can't he have his weapon. I know some people will say, "What if he
drives a tank, surely he can't run around with that." that is true. But
all tankers, soldiers on crew served weapons are issued a sidearm. If
just a few of the 12 soldiers had a means to return fire they would not
be mourned now. I would be willing to bet if this
Muslim Major opened fire on a street in Killeen, he would be riddled in
minutes.
I had the pleasure (to some displeasure) to serve in a war torn country.
I always remembered where I was, what I was up against, and that is why
my .45 Colt never left my side. Fortunately I never had to use it, but
it was comfort, and life insurance.
I was asked many times, "Why do you always wear that gun, are you
scared?" my answer was, "Yes, but I rather be scared that be scared to
death."

"LEXINGTON PARK, Md. -- Some sexual
experimentation landed a southern Maryland woman in a hospital with
injuries tough to imagine and even more difficult to forget.
Maryland State Police airlifted the 27-year-old woman to Prince George's
County Hospital Center early Sunday morning after she was injured in an
incident involving a sex toy attached to a saber saw blade,
TheBayNet.com first reported.
The man who called 911 about the incident admitted attaching the sex
toy to the saw and then using the high-powered, homemade device on his
partner, according to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office.
The saw cut through the plastic toy and wounded the
woman, according to TheBayNet.com.
The injuries were severe enough for medevac, but the woman was released
from the hospital Monday and is recovering from her unusual injuries.

LG & KK...game on |
Our state legislatures are made up mostly of lawyers and insurance Agents.
You can't sneeze without a lawyer or insurance.
This is very interesting! I never thought about it this way.
Perhaps this is why so many physicians are conservatives or republicans.
The Democratic Party has become the Lawyers' Party.
Barack Obama is a lawyer.
Michelle Obama is a lawyer.
Hillary Clinton is a lawyer.
Bill Clinton is a lawyer.
John Edwards is a lawyer.
Elizabeth Edwards is a lawyer.
Every Democrat nominee since 1984 went to law school (although Gore did not
graduate).
Every Democrat vice presidential nominee since 1976, except for Lloyd
Bentsen, went to law school.
Look at leaders of the Democrat Party in Congress:
Harry Reid is a lawyer.
Nancy Pelosi is a lawyer.
The Republican Party is different.
President Bush is a businessman.
Vice President Cheney is a businessman.
The leaders of the Republican Revolution:
Newt Gingrich was a history professor.
Tom Delay was an exterminator.
Dick Armey was an economist.
House Minority Leader Boehner was a plastic manufacturer.
The former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is a heart surgeon.
Who was the last Republican president who was a lawyer? Gerald Ford, who
left office 31 years ago and who barely won the Republican nomination as a
sitting president, running against Ronald Reagan in 1976.
The Republican Party is made up of real people doing real work, who are
often the targets of lawyers.
The Democrat Party is made up of lawyers.
Democrats mock and scorn men who create wealth, like Bush and Cheney, or who
heal the sick, like Frist, or who immerse themselves in history, like
Gingrich.
The Lawyers' Party sees these sorts of people, who provide goods and
services that people want, as the enemies of America. And, so we have seen
the procession of official enemies, in the eyes of the Lawyers' Party, grow.
Against whom does Hillary and Obama rail?
Pharmaceutical companies, oil companies, hospitals, manufacturers, fast food
restaurant chains, large retail businesses, bankers, and anyone producing
anything of value in our nation.
Lawyers seek to have new laws passed, they seek to win lawsuits, they press
appellate courts to overturn precedent, and lawyers always parse language to
favor their side. Confined to the narrow practice of law, that is fine. But
it is an awful way to govern a great nation.
When politicians as lawyers begin to view some Americans as clients and
other Americans as opposing parties, then the role of the legal system in
our life becomes all-consuming. Some Americans become "adverse parties" of
our very government. We are not all litigants in some vast social
class-action suit. We are citizens of a republic that promises us a great
deal of freedom from laws, from courts, and from lawyers.
Today, we are drowning in laws; we are contorted by judicial decisions; we
are driven to distraction by omnipresent lawyers in all parts of our once
private lives. America has a place for laws and lawyers, but that place is
modest and reasonable, not vast and unchecked. When the most important
decision for our next president is whom he will appoint to the Supreme
Court, the role of lawyers and the law in America is too big.
When lawyers use criminal prosecution as a continuation of politics by other
means, as happened in the lynching of Scooter Libby and Tom Delay, then the
power of lawyers in America is too great. When House Democrats sue America
in order to hamstring our efforts to learn what our enemies are planning to
do to us, then the role of litigation in America has become crushing.
We cannot expect the Lawyers' Party to provide real change, real reform or
real hope in America.
Most Americans know that a republic in which every major government action
must be blessed by nine unelected judges is not what Washington intended in
1789. Most Americans grasp that we cannot fight a war when ACLU lawsuits
snap at the heels of our defenders. Most Americans intuit that more lawyers
and judges will not restore declining moral values or spark the spirit of
enterprise in our economy.
Perhaps Americans will understand that change cannot be brought to our
nation by those lawyers who already largely dictate American society and
business. Perhaps Americans will see that hope does not come from the mouths
of lawyers but from personal dreams nourished by hard work. Perhaps
Americans will embrace the truth that more lawyers with more power will only
make our problems worse.
The United States has 5% of the world's population and 66% of the world's
lawyers! Tort (Legal) reform legislation has been introduced in congress
several times in the last several years to limit punitive damages in
ridiculous lawsuits such as "spilling hot coffee on yourself and suing the
establishment that sold it to you" and also to limit punitive damages in
huge medical malpractice lawsuits. This legislation has continually been
blocked from even being voted on. Blocked by the Democrat Party.
When you see that 97% of the political contributions from the American Trial
Lawyers Association goes to the Democrat Party, then you realize who is
responsible for our medical and product costs being so high!
Remember this….
The only time you will ever need a lawyer…
Is to protect yourslf from another lawyer.. |
I tried your twelve step program, in fact I tried it about a
million times, it never worked for me, the other 12 step program did

I know very little about addiction to the demon
rum or king alcohol. If you want info about the drink I think you
should check with triple AAA, they seem to have a clear spiritual
misunderstanding about the pagan religious cult called Ass-Aholics
Annoyance or something like that. Maybe check with Kander Bluff from
Lunatics Anonymous. She seems to have some insight on this topic.
I do suffer from a chronic addiction myself. I
am powerless over the female breast. I’m not talking about the old
hags with sags or the tits on a stick on BPK. I thought for awhile
that I was going to suffer a slow horrible breast-aholic death. I
have recently learned that breastizm is a treatable disease and that
I would not have to attend those boring BA anti Christ meetings for
the rest of my life. Several times during the last few years I
thought I was cured, but I kept relapsing. It seemed to me that
every where I looked there were breasts staring back at me. I was
awash in an endless sea of lustful temptations. There was no escape.
Then I found Breast Aholics. My addiction started early whereas I
was breast feed as a baby. My mother, who is now 36, has great
breasts and I still admire them today. Last time we were at the
beach I commented to her about her rack and how good she still looks
topless. I sometimes have dreams about suckling on my mother’s firm
breasts filled with Jack Daniels. My current wife (4th)
is the same way. She has the best pair of perky twins that you will
ever see. She is somewhat younger than me, by about 6 years. She is
not much of a cook and doesn’t know how to clean house, but what the
hell do I care. We eat out a lot and I hired a cleaning company. We
met in the Bahamas while I was doing a photo shoot for Vickie’s
Secret. Her photo is in the current catalog on page 12. So far, my
ogling has not caused me any problems with my relationships, health,
work or finances. But of course, there always are the “yets”. I have
recently started a new local chapter of Breast-Aholics to help those
that suffer from breastizm. We are now in the process of writing the
promises and the 12 steps and traditions on how to beat this
horrible addiction. We do have several diseased members already and
we meet every second week, on Thursday at 5pm for happy observation
hour at the intersection of Green and Duval Street. This is where we
share our experience, strength and hope with each other while
admiring the beautiful twins as they sway, bounce and jiggle by. At
our last gathering while sharing thoughts about our addiction we
came to one conclusion that will be incorporated into our 12
traditions. There are no two breasts alike. But breasts do have one
thing in common “they all taste the same.” Unlike Ass-Aholics you
will not be able to choose a God of your understanding. No more
worshipping your bed pan or motorcycle. Through our group conscious
we have chosen the embellishing Miracle bra as your higher lifting
power. If you are a moral degenerate sinner suffering from this
disgusting, deadly, incurable chronic disease and would like to join
our breastizm support group please feel free to stop by at our
weekly sidewalk meetings anytime. The only requirement for
membership is a desire to stop ogling. |

I was born into a family of Democrats, lived all my life among Democrats,
registered to vote Democrat and have pretty much voted Democrat all my life
unless there was a Republican who really impressed me. I vote the person
not the party but 99% of the time my votes have been Democrat. After less
than one year in office Mr. Obama has opened my eyes and I changed parties
last week. I am now a proud Republican. That man is a liar, does not
follow through on anything he promised, has not lowered taxes, has not
pulled any troops out of Iraq, has not created any jobs, has done nothing
about health care and made a national news storey about 3 men drinking a
beer together. All I have seen him do to "Change" The White House is put a
swing set in the back yard that we as tax payers bought. I never thought I
would hear myself say this but can we please have Bush back? Better yet,
re-elect Clinton. At least when Clinton lied it was only a blow job. |
The Five Catholics
Four Catholic men and a Catholic woman were having coffee.
The first Catholic man tells his friends, "My son is a
priest, when he walks into a room, everyone calls him
'Father'."
The second Catholic man chirps, "My son is a Bishop. When he
walks into a room people call him 'Your Grace'."
The third Catholic gent says, "My son is a Cardinal. When he
enters a room everyone says 'Your Eminence'."
The fourth Catholic man then says, "My son is the Pope. When
he walks into a room people call him 'Your Holiness'."
Since the lone Catholic woman was sipping her coffee in
silence, the four men give her a subtle, "Well....?"
She proudly replies, "I have a daughter, slim, tall, 38D
breast, 24" waist and 34" hips. When she walks into a room,
people say, "Oh My God."

Our rightwing friend pointed out that it would be horrible if
black Americans only strongly approve of President Obama because

Yet he never in the past pointed out how President Bushs support
never wavered in Texas while his Presidential approval ratings

a shame if they only supported him because he was a fellow Texan

Unarmed US Soldiers : The reader was surprised that Members of the Military
are unarmed, well if you had ever served in the Army or any branch of the
Military, this would have not surprised you. You may have a individual
weapon(s) assigned to you,but they are kept under triple lock & key in a
alarmed Arms room. The only people on a Military Base that are armed (have a
weapon & ammunition under their control) are those that functioning as law
enforcement or are guarding something. In NO case will these weapons have a
round chambered. (the magazine will be inserted, but there is NO bullet ready
to fire) It's just too bad that the law enforcement officer, who responded,
was equipped with a 9mm Beretta,if it would have been a 45,there would be no
need for a trial . By the way,Fort Hood is a lot bigger then the 350

people's money...it is money the
Seniors have paid into out of
their own paychecks for all the
decades they've been working. In
fact, The Henry J. Kaiser Family

not be any COLA for the next
three years. They're robbing
older people...like Chicago
street thugs..
However, the per person monthly Medicare
insurance premium will be increased from the
2009 premium of $96.40 to $104.20 in 2010 and to
$120.20 for the year 2011.
Send this to all seniors that you know.
Remind them not to vote for the incumbent senators and
congressmen in the 2010 and the 2012 elections. It's time
to stop the madness...

I
salute yesterday’s poster who tells us that he is generous with his
own money, and the he believes that it is appropriate to be generous
with your money. His posting focuses on healthcare, but raises
issues beyond that. He believes that he will be able to continue
keeping his self purchased health care. He’s wrong, he won’t be able
to keep it because if single payer comes to pass, private health
care insurance companies will wither and die. It will take about 5
years, but it will be so. He says that he is willing to pay higher
taxes and that there is some sort of moral imperative that you and I
pay higher taxes. He ignores the fact that socialized medicine will
strangle our economy, and guarantee that our recession will only
deepen. I’m happy that the poster is financially able to take care
of himself, but that does not give him any right to be cavalier with
your money. My personal healthcare costs are too high, so I demand
that the poster send a generous donation to Deer Ed to hold on my
behalf, no doubt doing so will make the poster feel very good about
himself. Socialized medicine will raise taxes for everyone. It may
well be that any increase in taxes will seriously impact your
standard of living. It may well be that socialized medicine, with
its required massive cuts in Medicare and Medicaid, will diminish
your level and availability of health care. If you are elderly it
may well be that the absolutely certain rationing of care will cause
you great suffering or a shortening of your life span. It’s a safe
bet that if you now get health care coverage from your employer that
it will be history. But all of that is just fine with the poster.
If you don’t go along with his notion of largess, you are “self
centered and selfish”. I’m surprised that he didn’t tell us it was
only “fair” to take your money and give it to people and issues that
he decides are worthy. He tells us that if you resist going along
with his notions that you just “won’t do the right thing”. That
means “the right thing” as he sees it. To the poster, you have a
duty not to keep what you have accumulated. If you do, you are a
greedy "got miner". The rock solid implication is that if you
don’t agree with the posters ideas, that you are a greedy
ne’er-do-well. Do you feel greedy? Shame on you if you don't! This
Right Winger damned sure doesn’t! The poster is walking, talking,
proof of the maxim: “Liberals are very generous, with other peoples
money”.
Good Gawd, I just love
it when the Obama fans really think that they are onto
something wonderful! Yesterday a poster urged y’all to
check out realclear politics. I think that he thought
that he was hot on the trail of exposing some evil deed
on the part of Rasmussen's polling. I sure hope that you
followed his urging and carefully examined the
description of the persons who are polled by eash
polling company. If you did, you saw that the only
polling service listed that interviews LIKELY VOTERS is
Rasmussen. The others talk to “adults” and to
“registered voters”. Plus, all the polling entities
named except Gallup and Rasmussen have a highly partisan
constituency, plus each of them are in the news business
and have their own political agenda. That leaves Gallup
and Rasmussen alone who have no dog in the fight. Gallup
interviews “adults”, Rasmussen interviews “likely
voters”. Now think, which set of people is more
important to politicians, "adults", or "likely voters".
Which set of people is most likely to affect the future?
You decide. I choose Rasmussen. By the way, as of
Wednesay, Rasmussen reports that Mr. Obama’s approval
rating was -15, and he’s been in negative double digits
for 12 straight days, a record.

The
original thanksgiving celebration was held by
the Pilgrim settlers in Massachusetts during their second winter in
America in December, 1621. The first winter had killed 44 of the
original 102 colonists. At one point their daily food ration was down to
five kernels of corn apiece, but then an unexpected trading vessel
arrived, swapping them beaver pelts for corn, providing for their severe
need. The next summer’s crop brought hope, and Governor William Bradford
decreed that December 13, 1621, be set aside as a day of feasting and
prayer to show the gratitude of the colonists that they were still
alive.
These Pilgrims, seeking religious freedom and opportunity in America,
gave thanks to God for His provision for them in helping them find 20
acres of cleared land, for the fact that there were no hostile Indians
in that area, for their newfound religious freedom, and for God’s
provision of an interpreter to the Indians in Squanto. Along with the
feasting and games involving the colonists and more than 80 friendly
Indians (who added to the feast by bringing wild turkeys and venison),
prayers, sermons, and songs of praise were important in the celebration.
Three days were spent in feasting and prayer.
From that time forward, Thanksgiving has been celebrated as a day to
give thanks to God for His gracious and sufficient provision. President
Abraham Lincoln officially set aside the last Thursday of November, in
1863, “as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father.” In
1941, Congress ruled that after 1941, the fourth Thursday of November be
observed as Thanksgiving Day and be a legal holiday. |

[Global Warming] I have a good friend who worked
herself through four years of college to become an oceanographer. After
she received her sheepskin, like any other graduate, she went looking
for a job, and she found one. It was a company that made studies of the
oceanic environment. Multi millions were involved, her salary was more
than generous. Finally she received her first project, which she
diligently pursued. Then she turned in her report, she was told that her
report was not what they wanted. The months my friend spent on research
was insignificant. The findings of the research was already made up and
ready to be turned in even before she started.
It is the same way with global warming. The highly paid
bearers of sheepskin publish whatever they are told, just so some people
can make big bucks off this scare. They have cooked the numbers so it’s
a lot warmer than we think it is. Guess who will it be who will be
buying up oceanfront properties for next to nothing. |

Many
Israelis want to know why didn't the soldiers attacked by a U.S.
Army major-turned-terrorist return fire?
When a Muslim goes, well, Muslim in Israel, he is typically shot
to death by someone--say, a reserve soldier, within seconds of screaming
"Allah Akbar." In contrast with the Israeli experience, it took 10
minutes before a civilian police officer at Fort Hood was able to
shoot and stop Muslim fanatic Nidal Malik Hasan.
How could that happen? How could so many people trained in the
strategies and tactics of modern warfare be so defenseless? The
answer--and this may astonish many Americans--is that the victims were
unarmed. U.S. soldiers are not allowed to carry guns for personal
protection, even on a 340-acre base quartering more than 50,000 troops. |

That’s exactly the situation deranged fanatics look for
in order to cause havoc. I hope some heads roll for such lax security at
one of the most secure and important buildings in the world. |

Mr. Obama
sure is changing our nation. Hope springs eternal. Mr. Obama has spent
twice as much money in his first year in office as Mr. Bush did in his
first year in office. Were changing into the biggest debtor nation in
the world, and we hope that our nation can survive Mr. Obama. |

Democrats propose, Republicans oppose. |

The day Obama can sit down and give an interview,
and not accuse the interviewer of lying or spreading fallacies when they
repeat what he said, then he may be believable! |

Someone wrote that Muslims haven’t earned our trust. This is a
good reason for profiling. In general I’m against profiling when it
applies to drugs and immigration, etc, but Muslims are out to get us, at
least the fanatics are! We have to start profiling them for our safety.
In this case political correctness is incorrect. They are our only
enemies that want to die when they kill us. |

I’m not going to support our troops any more for fighting unjust

I don’t care what national healthcare will cost, we must have it.
I pay for my own insurance and will keep it, but I don’t mind paying
more taxes to help others. What has happened to our nation? The citizens
have become so self-centers and selfish that we won’t do the right thing
anymore. Many in our country want to change our motto to “I’ve Got Mine,
How You Doing?” |
|
Regarding "Mr” Obama or whatever is name really
is. Mr is far too kind given what I think of the Marxist. You will
understand better when you realize how you've been duped in just a
matter a matter of months. There is certainly no racial component to
my lack of respect for the man and the policies he is forcing upon us.
In your comment you neglect to even call President Bush, “Mr”, I will
accept your Marilyn Monroe exception because this guy is sure 'boinking'
me and my country. |
|

[More bar wisdom] Thanksgiving is a stoner’s favorite holiday. |
|
[From the
Right] I’m very appreciative of the fan of Mr. Obama who provided us
with the extraordinarily apt Marilyn Monroe comparison. According to the
acolyte, it’s O.K. to speak of Mr. Obama as Mr. Obama if he is
“boinking” you as JFK did to MM. Well, he is “boinking” us and the
nation, big time. And I can’t even remember getting kissed or a
dinner. Because of that I offer thanks again to Mr. Obama’s acolyte for
giving us permission to address Mr. Obama as Mr. Obama. It’s so much
more respectful than more meaningful and colorful appellations that come
to mind. Whenever I speak with Mr. Obama I always address him as Mr.
President, whenever I write about him I refer to him as Mr. Obama. That
shall always be so. We should all wonder why the irate acolyte is so
hung up on race. I wonder why he/she is so consumed with the fact that
Mr. Obama is half white rather than defending his issues and policies.
Would the acolyte think less of him if he had more Caucasian blood?
Would the acolyte think higher of him if his mother had been Swahili? I
doubt that Mr. Obama would agree with his irate acolyte. After all, Mr.
Obama is our first post racial President. He told us so. And why is it
O.K. to call Mr. Obama Mr. Obama only if you’re black or being “boinked”
by him? I wonder why the acolyte of Mr. Obama accuses the Right Winger
of being white. In fact, the Right Winger has exactly the same ratio of
Caucasian blood as does Mr. Obama. Can it be that the Mr. Obama’s
fervent acolyte is a racist? You bet! That is exactly what it is. In any
event, according to the acolyte, it’s now O.K. to address him as Mr.
Obama. Thank you. By the way, Mr. Obama’s approval ratings are
fascinating. In December ’08, 77% of Black Americans approved of his
performance. Today 74% still approve of him. On the day Mr. Obama was
inaugurated, 44% of all Americans strongly approved of him while only
16% had strong negative feelings about him. Today, his strong approval
rating among all Americans has plummeted to 26% while those who have
strong negative feelings has grown to 41%. The long and short of it is:
when he first started, most folks of all races and creeds liked him.
But, as they got to know him they learned to dislike and distrust him.
It would be a sad comment on Black Americans if they strongly supported
Mr. Obama, our first post racial President, strictly because of his
ethnicity. |

Happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful
for so much. I am blessed with good health, family, friends and the good
fortune to be able to spend my winters on Big Pine Key. I love your
island. I don't want you to change a thing. I know that many of you are
glad that I come and bring my wallet. I also know that some of you wish I
would stay in the cold gray north. Relax, I will only be there for 3
months and other than add a bit of traffic and maybe a longer line at the
Winn-Dixie, I won't hurt your home, the Key that I love. |
|
[Thankful]
It's been over 4 years since Wilma. As I'm about to celebrate my 2nd
Thanksgiving in my new house I am thankful most of all for all the people
that helped us through the most difficult time in my life. I'd like to thank
Debbie, Mike and Paige Clem for taking us into their home for over 2 months
(while we waited for the FEMA trailer to arrive) and their continued love
and support. I want to thank my neighbors on Date Palm Dr (most of them had
lots or damage too) for their help and support, and my family who although
they were thousands of miles away, did everything in their power to help.
I'd also like to thank all the people who help me clean up the mess and
build the house (Some paid, some volunteers) Tom Quinlan, John Ward, Dave
Tuttle, Pete Thompson, Gordon Helms, Brad Hay, Matt Upthegrove, Robert
Medford. I'd also like to thank the building department for their patience
and guidance, FEMA for the trailer we called home for 3 years, the SBA for
the loan when the insurance co. would not pay, and the fellowship of the
Vineyard Church. Last but not least I am thankful to God for blessing us
with these wonderful people. Love and thanks to you all. ~Sally and Daniel |

This bike is beyond words. Looking
at the paint job is chilling. As for the engine, a company makes the bikes,
called Boss Hogg, but this is the first I’ve seen with a trike conversion.
Very well done. They offer two engine options on their 2 wheel versions. The
standard is 350ci Chevy crate motor-a/t. The optional engine shown on this
trike is indeed a Chevy big block 502ci-a/t. Both are reported by the owners
as great road bikes. By non-owners--as scary as hell! No doubt this one is
very special.

I'm so happy that my electricity did not go out during
the hours of thunder and lightning Tuesday night. If we could just get rid

everyone happy, huh? |

[Mr
President] No one ever called George W bush “Mr” Bush. Bigots calling
President Obama “Mr” are just that—bigots. It is racially motivated no
matter what they say. President Obama is the only President who has ever
been denied the respect that that office deserves. (Well, Marilyn Monroe did
call JFK "Mr President", but he was boinking her, so that was all right.)
It’s an insult to our nation to be called “Mr” by those white folks who
refuse to except that a black man can be a President and who all swear that
they aren’t bigots.
If any of you folks who call him “Mr” are black or Marilyn
Monroe than I’ll change my mind on this, but I doubt it. |

rating yet measured for Mr. Obama. |

[Windows
8
set for 2012 release] An Official Microsoft roadmap shows
that Windows 8 is due to launch in 2012. The roadmap was spotted by the
website Microsoft Kitchen at last week's Professional Developers Conference
in LA. Although Microsoft said next to nothing about Windows 8 in public,
the roadmap was delivered to the company's partners.
The timescale is
similar to the gap between Windows Vista (which officially launched in
January 2007) and Windows 7 (which shipped in October), although the early
success of Windows 7 suggests there's no need for Microsoft to rush out
another client OS.
Microsoft has said
very little about its plans for Windows 8 to date, although clues have
started to emerge about the next-gen operating system. The LinkedIn profile
of a Microsoft researcher revealed that the company is working on making the
Windows 8 kernel 128-bit compatible, upping the ante from the 32- and 64-bit
Windows 7. The researcher's profile said the company was working with
processor partners such as Intel, AMD, HP and IBM on the transition.
On a recent visit
to London, Microsoft boss Steve Ballmer also reaffirmed the company's
commitment to heavyweight client OSs, dismissing rumors that future versions
of Windows would become more modular.
That puts clear
blue water between Microsoft and Google, which last week unveiled full
details of its Chrome OS, a lightweight operating system primarily aimed at
the netbook market.
Enough already! |

[AA
as a Cult] Let's try this just one more time. AA
does not have leaders, a grand poobah or anyone else issuing commandments.
AA does not ask for money. They pass a basket at each meeting into which
one usually puts a dollar bill. But if you don't donate, nobody cares. AA
does not recruit members and if you leave, they won't follow you. People
come and go as they choose. No particular religious beliefs are espoused.
There are, in fact, AA groups just for atheists and agnostics. A general
acceptance of a "higher power" is about as religious as it gets, and that
higher power can be anything. I'm totally mystified that anyone could be so
vitriolic about what is a perfectly benign organization. I'm sure there's a
story there. |

their patients for a system that punishes the workers and rewards the
losers. That kind of blatant abuse should be the priority of the system to

|
I
would invite anyone interested in AA to go to a meeting, to see for
themselves how hysterically inaccurate the poster is who calls AA a cult.
Bring a friend if you’re still not sure so that you won’t be “trapped”. The
poster also used the word dribble when he/she meant drivel. I come from the
old school, I still judge people on spelling, grammar and gross distortions
cooked up in their own minds. |

[Religion
vs God's Word] Your questions and answers are mundane and ignorant. Yes,
pain and suffering and disease and disasters and cruelty and hate and
injustice are everywhere in this world — not because of God, but because of
us and the free will God has given us. Your moral indignation over suffering
is actually evidence in favour of God’s existence. That’s because our
indignation presupposes an objective moral standard of right and wrong--a
standard that does not exist without God. People who are aghast at the
indifference and cruelty of the world need to understand that God wants His
followers to be part of the solution. God is not Santa Claus. |

[Conspiracy] You can bet there is massive damage
control being worked up in double shifts by the lying wretches who
perpetrated the huge global warming scam, since they were exposed last
Thursday. Folks who were screaming about a lie for the last 8 years take
note: This is what a lie really looks like. The socialists, who wanted this
agenda crammed down our throats, will come up with a weak response that will
be given credibility. But wait! More and more exposition of their rotten
agenda will be released in dribs and drabs over a nice long period, in order
to prolong the pain and to let them ensnare themselves. In this way their
defenses will keep taking hits, until a convoluted mess of conflicting lies
will bury them.
So come on believers, lemmings, liars and socialists, work up something
really good, we're ready for the lame-ass spin.

[Everyone Paid the Same] Most people work a full 40
hour work week. Let us say they make $10 per hour, just to keep the math
simple. Their gross pay would then be $10 per hour times 40 hours which
equals $400. My question is what gives the person the right to charge $20
per hour and work only a 20 hour work week, and demand that they make the
same gross pay as the other guy? Of course the answer is, "We have the same
expenses as the first guy." If the second guy had it the way he wanted it,
he would work a one hour week for $400 and love it. Then there are the blood
suckers who don't or won't work at all and demand we give half of our gross
pay to them. What is wrong with this picture? The Democratic way of life is
what is wrong. I say, "You want it, work for it and stay out of my wallet!" |

[Getting Better All The Time] New homes sales are up
over 6%, car manufacturers are showing profits and their presidents
are thanking the President for the cash for clunkers program; and the stock
market is starting to come around again. Then throw in the fact that the
President is finally, after much discussion with the Generals, getting ready
to send them 10s of thousands of new reinforcements to Afghanistan where the
9/11 attackers came from and all the republicans will do is spew their usual
anti-American President rhetoric. I’m glad we put into office a president
that can ignore the anti-American screaming from the right and make sound,
well thought out, decisions. It’s nice to see our country get out of the
horrible conditions we were in the last year of the last administration. We
can, and are doing better. It’s still a way off but the signs are there. |

[Engineering
Gone Wrong] You
are not seeing things. That is a 12 story building
lying on the ground. If the
buildings were closer together there would also have been a domino effect.
An
underground garage was being dug on the south side, to a depth of 4.6
meters. The excavated dirt was being piled up on the north side, to a height
of 10 meters. The building experienced uneven lateral pressure from south
and north. This resulted in a lateral pressure of 3,000 tons, which was
greater than what the pilings could tolerate. Thus the building toppled over
in the southerly direction. |

[Blastomycosis]
In nature, the fungus probably resides in the soil in decaying foliage and
vegetation. Blastomycosis occurs in people living in the south-central and
Midwestern United States and Canada. Being around infected soil is the key
risk factor. The infection is spread by inhalation of airborne conidia
(spores) after disturbance of contaminated soil. Blastomycosis is not known
to be transmitted from person to person. The disease usually affects people
with weakened immune systems, or who have had an organ transplant. Men are
more likely to be affected than women. Avoiding travel to areas where the
infection is known to occur may help prevent exposure to the fungus, but
this may not always be possible. |

[Volunteers
Needed at National Key Deer Refuge] I do you have an interest in
educating visitors about the Florida Keys environment, I have some free time
on my hands, and I’m looking for something worthwhile to do? Maybe I should
consider volunteering at National Key Deer Refuge. Why would I want to do
that? Don’t they already have paid employees feeding off the government
breast? Would I be able to sleep at the front desk at the visitor center, as
I have witnessed the current staff sleeping while being paid with your tax
dollars? Can volunteers at the visitor center educate visitors with the
truth about living with the Keys disease? Visitors will be misdirected to
the two public use sites, in the center of the residential neighborhood in
the National Key Deer Refuge where Key deer can be viewed while the visitors
throw their empty beer cans, cigarette butts, soiled Depends, liquor
bottles, fast food bags and other assorted garbage into the habitat.
The
Blue Hole is the most popular environmental spot on Big Pine Key and
receives approximately 90,000 visitors a year. That equates to 247 visits
per day. The visitor center receives approximately 20,000 visits a year.
That equates to 54 visitors a day at the center alone. Something’s not right
about these numbers. They seem to be inflated so that they can boost their
own egos and annual budget. 90,000 visitors to the blue hole will generate
tons of feces and enough urine to refill the stink hole if it runs dry. I
haven’t seen any toilet facilities in the area and that’s probably what
causes that foul odor there. Volunteers should advise visitors by providing
information about wildlife in and around the Blue Hole including the Burmese
pythons, abandoned feral cats, wild dogs, rabid raccoons, feral roosters,
deadly tics, mosquitoes that spread dengue fever, Gambian rats, venomous pit
vipers, alligators, recluse spiders and the gross folks living in the woods.
That brownish algae floating on top of the polluted water is caused by the
decaying carcasses of the Key deer that were just dumped into the underbrush
along the side of the road near the Blue Hole.
Volunteers could provide information about the inbred diseased Key deer and
how the refuge extorts property from the citizens to expand the government
employee’s empire. Of critical concern is educating visitors to not walk
through the habitat so they don’t get bit by the deadly snakes or accosted
by the intoxicated homeless citizens. Feeding them can cause the mentally
insane homeless to lose their wariness and place visitors at risk of an
aggressive and dangerous attack. The homeless bums usually infest the area
24/7. |

[From the Right] I
hope that by now you have learned of Mr. Obama’s probable decision to send
about 33K new troops to Afghanistan. Some leading Dems claim to be deeply
concerned about the cost of the action. It’s a pleasant surprise to hear of
a Democrat being worried about spending gazillions of dollars. We must
prevail in Afghanistan. If it takes more troops and more money so be it. The
Dem leaders are ready to push for a new “war” tax that will hit everybody,
and I mean everybody with a new tax to be tagged onto your income taxes.
Believe it or not, I’m ready to support that tax. If, repeat, if, we claw
back the unspent stimulus money. If we halt all efforts to impose socialized
medicine on America. If we give across the board real tax breaks and
incentives to businesses, big and small, tied to hiring new employees and
purchasing new equipment. If we impose an embargo on hiring any new
government employees. If we cut our Federal annual budget by an across the
board 5%. If all of those issues were put to a referendum, so that American
voter could directly vote on the issues, you and I know that they would
pass with an overwhelming majority. It’s worth mentioning that Mr. Obama’s
minions have just been forced to reduce the GDP growth numbers they bragged
about a week or so ago. GDP was then reported at 3.5%, they said it was a
wondrous thing. Yesterday it was dropped down to 2.8%. Of the various
component of the GDP formula, the only real growth was in Government
spending. Speaking of money, did you hear that Mr. Obama pardoned the White
House turkey, Tim Geithner?
(Part II) Kudos to
the E.R. health care professional who told us about the Medicare dead beat.
Right Wing middle digit salute to the poster who panned the professional by
accusing him of lacking compassion. I think that one of the most annoying
attitudes that is commonly seen in Obamacare zealots in particular and
liberals in general, is their aura of supercilious disdain for those who
disagree with them. The health care professional perfectly described a
patient who is the poster child for resisting socialized medicine. The dead
beat patient had all the hallmarks of a wastrel, a person who could well
afford their own health care, but simply chose to waste her own health and
her own resources with the certainty that someone else would take care of
her and pay her bills. We saw no evidence that the patient was disabled in
any fashion. That patient deserves no compassion, but does deserve a boat
load of disdain. That patient is but one of a whole class of Americans who
have devolved into parasites. Liberal progressive policies have altered the
DNA of hordes of Americans so that a whole new class exists who demand that
someone else pay for their life. They’re like ducks, when you see one you
know one by walk, talk, and waddle. The Liberal/Progressives among us are
totally free to give the dead beat ducks whatever they want, but they have
no right to demand that I join them in their mis-placed largess. May I
suggest that the Liberals keep their hands the hell out of my pockets and
keep their snooty holier than thou attitude to themselves. Oh Yea, Happy
Thanksgiving! Geesh! |

[Religion
vs God's Word] Christians have found a way to answer all questions
about the mysteries of faith--they make it up. Their main problem is
answering questions like “Why so much evil goes unpunished.” and “Why
did that baby die?” and “What is evil?”
They couldn't figure out how to answer the first question, “Why so much
evil goes unpunished.” so they invented the afterlife where everyone
would be judged and punished, but there was no place to put the punished
so they invented Hell which was like our worst maximum security prison,
but with a whole lot of heat. The faithful complained that was too
serious a punishment for minor evils so the Catholics, in their infinite
wisdom, invented Purgatory. Purgatory is more like the Big Pine Road
Prison, but not as hot. Problem solved. (Note: there is no mention of
Hell, Purgatory or Devil in the bible. They are made up just to explain
the myth.)
They usually skirt the second question “Why did that baby die?” and
other questions they can't answer by saying, “It is God's will.” To the
faithful, that evasive answer relieves them from thinking, but it really
doesn't answer anything, does it. As for “What is Evil” they simply
invented a cartoon character called Devil.
Now that you have all the answers do you believe? |

[Life After The Keys] To
those of you who are wondering if there really is life after the Keys,
here's what one ex-Keyser has been up to, writing about nightlife in his

[Volunteers
Needed at National Key Deer Refuge] Do you have an interest
educating visitors about the Florida Keys environment, have some free
time on your hands, and are looking for something worthwhile to do?
Consider volunteering at National Key Deer Refuge. The refuge is
continually seeking volunteers to staff the front desk of the visitor
center, staff our Blue Hole site on Big Pine Key, assist with
maintenance projects, and assist with turtle and bird research
throughout the year.
Volunteers at
the visitor center educate visitors about the four National Wildlife
Refuges in the Florida Keys, where they can see wildlife on the refuges,
and provide additional information about the interpretive displays. The
Center receives approximately 20,000 visits a year. Visitors are also
directed to the two public use sites on National Key Deer Refuge – the
Blue Hole and the Watson and Mannillo nature trail area and areas that
Key deer can be seen. Currently, the visitor center is open Monday -
Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM. During the winter, the center is also open on
Saturdays. Volunteers usually staff the desk for a three to four hour
shift a week.
The Blue Hole
is the most popular environmental spot on Big Pine Key and receives
approximately 90,000 visits a year. Volunteers at the Blue Hole educate
these visitors. Volunteers assist visitors by providing information
about wildlife in and around the Blue Hole including the fish, turtles,
birds, alligators, and the problem with exotics including some of the
fish and the iguanas. Volunteers provide information about the Key deer
and how the refuge manages for the wildlife. Of critical concern is
educating visitors to not feed the alligators. Feeding causes the
alligators to loose their wariness of humans and places visitors at risk
of an aggressive and dangerous animal. Volunteers usually staff the site
for a four hour shift between 8 AM to 5 PM.
There are
also other volunteer opportunities at the refuge. Volunteers staff a
refuge booth at various shows and fairs in the County, can conduct
guided walks at the Jack Watson Nature Trail, assist with visitor
services projects, maintenance projects, and volunteer with the refuges
friends group Friends and Volunteers of Refuges (FAVOR). For more
information or to obtain an application and schedule an interview,
contact Refuge Ranger Jim Bell at 305-872-0774. |
[Flue
Shots] In a release issued on Thursday, the Democratic Congressional
Campaign Committee claimed that any criticism of H1N1 policy by the GOP
would amount to hypocrisy.
The DCCC pointed to a June vote on a supplementary
appropriations bill as evidence. Wilson joined 95% of Republicans and
voted against the bill, which contained special funding to combat H1N1
both domestically and internationally. But the bill also contained other
much more money for other plans and programs Republicans at the time
viewed as wasteful, including the Cash-For-Clunkers car purchase
incentive program.
Still, the DCCC says that a vote against the bill
essentially equaled a vote against combating H1N1 and means Republicans
who voted against it like Wilson favored a public health program that
would have resulted in even less vaccine than is available now.
"The families, schools, and businesses fighting
against the H1N1 flu pandemic deserve better than House Republicans'
reckless, knee jerk partisanship and just-say-no approach to helping
prepare for this national emergency," DCCC spokesperson Ryan Rudominer
said in a statement released Oct. 27. |

[Cure] I
was impressed by the poster who, if I may extrapolate, said, among other
things, that a little less selfishness could go a long way in curing the
disease of alcoholism. From my experience he’s right. The emotional
components of substance abuse invariably include, but are not limited
too, gross ego distortion mixed with low self-esteem and selfishness.
Knowing or just working on these issues alone isn’t enough to keep most
of us clean and sober, but it is an excellent start. |

Socialism
is the prelude to communism.
If a government will take care of you from the cradle to the grave, you
will be a slave of the system. I am aware of the Patriot Act and at the
time of it's passing, I and others believed it was necessary for the
nation’s security. The INS agent who profiled Mohamed Atta didn't act on
her hunch because she thought it would not be socially acceptable. I
wish she shot him on the spot. Liberalism is leading the USA into an
abyss that the nation might not climb out of. Obama has given the nation
nothing but a huge debt that your grandchildren will still be paying (if
the USA lasts that long). |

[800
Pound South Carolina Man
Dies After Getting Stuck in Recliner for 8 Months] When
an ambulance brought Daniel Webb home from the hospital after he hurt
his knee in March, paramedics warned the then 550-pound man he probably
wouldn't be able to get up from his recliner if they put him there, his
wife said.
Webb told
them to leave him there anyway. He would sit in that recliner, slowly
dying, for the next eight months. Finally, paramedics were called back
to his Greenwood home on Wednesday because he was in a lot of pain.
Webb's body
was physically stuck to the power recliner and firefighters had to cut
him from the chair to take him to the hospital. He died a few hours
later, his body covered with sores and a "very bad odor," according to a
police report.
Webb, 33,
didn't ask for help for all those months, because he was ashamed and
didn't have health insurance, said his wife, Ada. He slept and used the
bathroom in his chair and she cleaned it every day. The former preacher
would post sermons online from the chair, and it wasn't long before he
decided he was ready to go home to the Lord, she said.
"After he sat
there in that one spot for a week, he was embarrassed. It was like he
already knew what was going to happen," Ada Webb said.
Webb's mother
was the one who placed the final call to paramedics. Not only did crews
have to cut apart the chair, but they had to cut a hole in the wall of
the couple's mobile home about 70 miles west of Columbia to get him out.
A police report said he weighed about 800 pounds, but his wife said he
was closer to 500 pounds.
The hospital
told Daniel Webb's wife he died from a heart attack, she said. The
coroner's office isn't investigating the death and referred all
questions to Greenwood County deputies, who sent their report, but
didn't respond to a phone message.
Webb died on
the couple's second anniversary. They met four years ago on MySpace, and
Ada Webb said she didn't see a man who weighed more than 500 pounds, but
instead saw a guy who loved the Lord and had a big heart.
"I had the
worst anniversary yesterday I ever had, but I know he had the best one
he ever had because he's with Jesus now," she said.
Daniel Webb
drove school buses for nearly 15 years, until his weight made it
impossible. His health kept getting worse, and Ada Webb said she begged
hospital officials to keep him after doctors treated his knee injury in
March. But the couple had no way to pay and were sent home.
For his first
few weeks home, Daniel Webb was open to the idea of seeing someone.
Getting to them was the problem.
"Everybody
kept telling us, if you get here, we'll help you. We didn't have no way
of getting him up, and nobody was willing to come help us," Ada Webb
said. "He just kind of said, 'it's in God's hands' at that point."
Daniel Webb
spent the rest of his days playing with his four dogs and talking about
religion to other people on the Internet.
"I did all I
could for him. He loved me with a passion," his wife said. "The only
reason he held on to life here was for his family because he wanted to
go home and be with the Lord." |

[Conservative
Bias] After President Obama said this on his
European tour "In America, there's a failure to appreciate Europe's
leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union
and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have
been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive."
He followed it by saying this "But in Europe, there is an
anti-Americanism that is at once casual but can also be insidious.
Instead of recognizing the good that America so often does in the world,
there have been times where Europeans choose to blame America for much
of what's bad."
The last part of President Obama's quote was intentionally omitted by
most conservative cable shows, web sites and blogs when they sought to
attack him for his so called apologies. |
[Lemon
Turkey]
Ingredients:
1 whole turkey
1 large lemon, cut into halves
Salt and pepper to taste
Butter or olive oil, whichever you prefer
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Rub butter
or oil over the skin of the turkey until it is completely coated.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper and any other seasonings you prefer. Take
a knife and gently separate the skin from the breast meat, slide lemon
halves under the skin with the peel side up, one on each side. This way
the juice from the lemon will release into the breasts.
Cover and bake for 30-45 minutes.
Remove cover and continue to roast until juices run clear, basting every
15-20 minutes.
If you've followed these steps
correctly, your turkey should look like the one in the picture. Bon
appétit! |

[Healthcare] I
am so confused our esteemed
US Senators voted to go ahead with health care reform even though the 2
independents said they will not vote for the final bill. The Democrats
who said they had doubts about the bill voted for it so they could
debate it in the Senate even though they might not support the final
version. One Louisiana Senator proved to be a whore by accepting 300
million dollars for his state in Medicaid funding in return for his
vote. I guest this means the other prostitutes will get their money and

[More AA Anger] The 12
steps of Alcoholics Anonymous have absolutely nothing to do with
stopping drinking. They are steps to indoctrinate into the religious
cult. The AA program is based on fear just like all other religions.
Fear if you do and fear if you don’t. Ego deflation and guilt play a
large role in trying to convince you that you can be saved only through
the AA program. The AA program is based on the basis that you drink to
excess because you are a moral sinner and the if you stopped sinning and
develop better morals the AA God you choose will lift the burden of
alcohol from you. You even get to pick your own God. This is pure
rubbish at its worst.
Here are the steps you should
take, which are encouraged as a course of action to escape the AA mind
trap.
Step 1: We decided we were “not powerless” over alcohol – that our lives
had become dominated by AA dribble.
Step 2: Came to understand that we were never as morally reprehensible
as some AA members had led us to believe.
Step 3: Made a decision to walk away from Alcoholics Anonymous forever.
Step 4: Made a scorching and fearless indictment against AA as an
organization that fails 97% of the time.
Step 5: Admitted to ourselves and another human being that we had been
recruited into joining a religious cult.
Step 6: Were entirely ready to rid ourselves of the self-defeating
rubbish we were taught by the cult of AA.
Step 7: Familiarized ourselves with cult indoctrination tactics in order
that we may never fall into a similar trap again.
Step 8: Made a list of all AA members who had harmed us and became
willing to confront them all about their bullshit.
Step 9: Called such people on their bullshit whenever possible, except
when to do so would give them some satisfaction.
Step 10: Continued to indict Alcoholics Anonymous and when we were
wronged promptly expressed our disapproval of it.
Step 11: Sought scientific-empirical evidence that could help us defeat
addictions; focusing on ourselves as the power to carry that out.
Step 12: Having been awakened from the AA nightmare as a result of these
steps we tried to carry this message to other so-called alcoholics, so
that they might know the truth about the deadly AA cult.
You are not
alone. Many of us have been mislead by the religion that claims not to
be a religion. Some of us suffered for years oblivious to the fact that
AA offers no reliable, or even a sincere method to help alcohol troubled
people to recover from addiction. When we felt hopeless…they used it
against us. They told us we were powerless over alcohol. They did it to
break us down. They did it to make us unsure of ourselves. They did it
to recruit new members into their religious cult. If you have tried AA
over and over again and you’re not getting the results you were promised
maybe it’s time you tried something else.
Take the One
Step Program. Stop drinking! Have faith in yourself. You can do
it. |

elite commando unit, are now facing criminal charges.
Ahmed Hashim
Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators
he was punched by his captors and he had the bloody lip to prove it.
The four

they were ambushed and killed by gunfire and grenades. Scum burned the
bodies and dragged them through the city. They hanged two of the bodies
on a bridge over the Euphrates River for the world press to photograph.

[Neutering
Men] Ever wonder what happened to men? I mean real men, the guys,
the hip dudes, the family rulers, the hard workers? One reason we men
have been physically and mentally castrated is because the merchant

[Mile
Marker 24 Band] I am happy to report that I am writing to you from
the most wonderful place in the world, my porch. After our 10-day trip,
which took us to Indiana, Ohio and Texas, it was nice to head home. Our
plane landed in Key West just before the sun was setting, so our first
welcome home present was a beautiful red sky observed from the
airport-parking garage. Cyndy spotted it first and we stopped, dropped
our bags and just stared. We were home. The 24-mile drive to our house
was wonderful as well. Each bridge and bay prettier than the last and
our fabulous welcoming committee was in full force upon our arrival.
Ester and Abbey each brought one of their toys for us as a gift. Cyndy
and I had already decided to spend time with the dogs as soon as we
arrive and not worry about empting the car, bags, etc. Staying true to
that commitment, we grabbed a bottle of wine from the chiller, two
glasses and headed down to the dock with dogs in tow. Within a few
minutes I had a fire roaring in the fire pit and we were toasting this
beautiful place with a dog lying at each of our feet. Wow!
It is so
wonderful to be back home and we can’t wait to see all of our friends.
We’re having a party at Boondocks on Ramrod Key this Saturday, November
28th at 7:00 PM. We are going to do a Meet and Greet before the show
starts just so we can hang with everyone a bit before we take the
stage. It seems there is never enough time to hang with everyone and I
miss that. Also, bring a can of food for the Food Pantry at St. Peter’s
Church. We will have donation boxes ready and Father Tony will be on
hand to talk about the pantry and how it helps those in need. After the
Thanksgiving holiday, they need our help in getting those shelves
stocked for the upcoming Holiday season!
This will also be our annual fund raiser for Mutt Strutt! There will be
a raffle with fantastic prizes (including a two night stay at Little
Palm Island) and a 50/50 raffle. Marilou and Mary will be selling the
raffle tickets and parading with their puppies!
On behalf on
the entire Mile Marker 24 family, we would like to wish you and your
family a very safe and happy Thanksgiving. And if you are in the area,
come hang out with us Saturday at Boondocks. |

[From the Right] Yesterday
someone complained about the Patriot Act. He characterized the
legislation as being a horrible transgression of American rights and
blamed Republicans. Gee, I wonder why he didn’t mention that the
Democrats voted overwhelmingly for the bill, twice. I also wonder why
he didn’t mention:
President Obama
has asked lawmakers to extend powers allowing the government to collect
a wide range of financial and personal records, as well as monitor
suspects with roving wiretaps. The methods were authorized under the USA
Patriot Act and are set to expire at year’s end.
That quote is from the Liberal/Progressive web site listed below. Gee
wilikers, if you can’t believe a Liberal/Progressive, who can you
believe? The fact is that the Patriot Act received overwhelming support
from Democrats in 2001 and again in 2006. The Democrats will support it
again, for the third time. The poster denied you any mention of the FISA
Court. That is the Court set up by the
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance
Act
which regulates our intell gathering practices. If you’re really
interested (and it is interesting), look it up. It’s a shame that Obama
acolytes operate on feelings or emotion alone. I honestly think that
the vast majority of Obama acolytes are really fine folks; they just
have a burning need to believe in Mr. Obama and all things Liberal and
Progressive. It is more comfortable for them to blindly believe whatever
is spoon fed to them than it is to fact check and be skeptical.

(Part II) I’m
getting finger cramps from debunking this preposterous lie that medical
bankruptcies are a reason to wreck our economy by surrendering more of
our freedoms to Obamacare. I hope you’ll remember that the noxious
notion was that 60% of bankruptcies were cause by medical bills. The
crap came from a 2005 study out of Mr. Obama’s alma mater, Harvard. It’s
astounding, but about 72% of the people surveyed in the study said later
that principal investigator, Dr. Steffie Woolhandler, was wrong about
their bankruptcy being substantially caused by medical bills. The whole
damn thing was no more than an intellectual hoax. Furthermore the study
authors themselves said “Many debtors described a complex web of
problems involving illness, work, and family. Dissecting medical from
other causes of bankruptcy is difficult. We cannot presume that
eliminating the medical antecedents of bankruptcy would have prevented
all of the filings we classified as 'medical bankruptcies.” The bottom
line Is that even Woolhandler, et al, concede that the study is deeply
flawed. Geez, folks, get over it, give it up, medical bankruptcies are
no more than a mote in the eye of our national health care. They darn
sure are not a valid reason for socializing our health care. |

[Dumbing
Down America] Boy, you got that right. When
we were in high school we were reading Chaucer (in old English),
Spencer, all of Shakespeare and Greek mythology. Most of us graduated
with a working knowledge of at least one foreign language (Spanish
spoken at home didn't count). We could diagram sentences and knew the
difference between infer and imply, your and you're, and hanged and
hung. We also had mandatory art classes, chorus and physical education.
We learned so much during the day that we usually had less than an
hour's homework at night. If you failed classes, you didn't graduate. I
feel sorry for kids now. They have the ability and willingness to learn,
but aren't being taught. We are becoming a nation of dull-normals who
are barely literate and can't do multiplication without a calculator or
write without a computer. The rest of the world is kicking our butts
intellectually, but boy do we have some self-esteem! |
|
[Rights and Freedoms] It's amazing to me that so many posters are
afraid of losing their freedoms to communism and every other scare
theory they have heard about. Were these same posters concerned when
the Patriot Act was signed by President Bush on Oct. 26, 2001? I
wonder. I have a feeling that it was signed without many of these
"concerned people" even paying attention to it. I think they are now.
They are listening to lies from fear mongers and believe that Obama is
out to get them.
Just to enlighten these posters, the Patriot Act was a massive bill that
attacked the privacy rights and civil liberties of all Americans. It
contained sections that gave the US Government the power to review and
monitor the book store purchases and library records of innocent
Americans. It contained sections that allowed wire tapping of all
Americans. It even required banks, credit card companies, internet
service providers and others to turn over information about private
citizens to the Federal Government without court approval. These
are just a few examples.
Some will argue that it aids America in keeping us safe from terrorists;
I would argue that it is a huge price to pay. What freedoms have we
lost since President Obama has taken office? Honestly, what freedoms?
None. It's a shame that Congress has taken months to debate a bill that
is being designed to give our citizens rights to good health, yet
they spent no time at all to sign the Patriot Act that took away
so many of our rights.
The fear mongers think it’s okay because it was a Republican that took
away our rights, but it’s wrong for a Democrat to give us rights. |

[Boost Mobile] I've had metro PCS for several
years now, and I usually drive up north to VA on a monthly basis. I
would pay my metro PCS bill of $56.50 (plus the extra $4 the metro place
charges a month) and add another $50 for the roaming since metro does
not work up passed Orlando. That's a total of $109.50 a month. That
would not include being able to receive voice mail and texting (even
though I have those features) while in VA or leaving Orlando.
I heard about Boost Mobile phone, and it's finally a
pleasure to save a whole bunch of money! I purchased a Boost Mobile from
the Big Pine RadioShack at the Winn Dixie Plaza, and all I pay is a
total of $53 and I can travel anywhere in the nation without having to
roam. I receive all my voice mails and texts, and I can use my radio
features which every Boost Mobile phone has (compatible with NexTel
too). You are not obligated to a contract and Boost is unlimited talking
and calling. God, am I glad I switched. |

[The facts on health care bankruptcy per
factcheck.org] A Harvard study, published in the Feb. 2, 2005, issue of
the journal Health Affairs, based its findings on surveys completed by
1,771 Americans in bankruptcy courts in 2001, financial information
available in public court records and follow-up interviews with 931 of
the respondents.
It determined that 46.2 percent of bankruptcies were
attributable to a major medical reason. Debtors cited at least one of
the following specific causes: illness or injury (28.3 percent of
respondents), uncovered medical bills exceeding $1,000 in the past two
years (27 percent), loss of at least two weeks of work-related income
because of illness (21.3 percent), or mortgaging a home to pay medical
bills (2 percent). (A larger category "any medical bankruptcy” also
covered those who cited addiction, or uncontrolled gambling, childbirth,
or the death of a family member. Including that group brought the total
percentage of medical bankruptcies up to 54.5.)
Now this may not add up to the quoted 60%, but I'd say
that even 46.2% is too high a price to pay for a nation as wealthy as
ours. |

[Bush
Safety Record] I stand beside the guy From the Right. He is correct
when he said some of the CT readers aren't smart enough to understand
what they read. It happens on this site with several posts. He's
explained it twice and they still don't get it. I'll try it on a simple
level for those who are a little slow.
He does
consider the Twin Towers a terrorist attack. The safety record is
since 9/11: there have been no attacks on American soil. Once
attacked, we were kept safe until political correctness allowed it to
happen again. This time it was on someone else’s watch. If you still
don't get it, I'll drop the reading level to third grade, search for
easier words, and try to explain it again tomorrow. I'd like to get
everyone up to speed so we can move on. |

[Alcoholism
a Disease] Disease by Wiki and other references: “In
human beings, "disease" is often used more broadly to refer to any
condition that causes pain, dysfunction, distress, social problems,
and/or death to the person afflicted, or similar problems for those in
contact with the person. In this broader sense, it sometimes includes
injuries, disabilities, disorders, syndromes, infections, isolated
symptoms, deviant behaviors, and atypical variations of structure and
function, while in other contexts and for other purposes these may be
considered distinguishable categories.”
So, if this is true, anything we do which has results in
the previously defined symptoms is hazardous to humans. Yes, alcoholism
is a disease; as is work, sports, going to Disney World, sitting on your
ass in front of a PC for endless hours, shopping, hunting, ogling and
preying the opposite sex (or in KW…), talking, texting and staring at
your cell phone while you shop, drive, walk, work (now I am ranting).
The list is endless. This subject is very open for debate as it has for
eons.
Coming soon, a big word: Cure. I’ll start that debate off
with a few ideas. Common sense, rational thinking and a little less
selfishness. At times, all of us are our own worst enemy and critic.
Lighten up. We all understand everybody is entitled to their own opinion
so why spew the invective when someone opines different than your own
beliefs? If the poster decides something does not work the way others
and their great design has taught them, why be so quick to pass
judgment? Isn’t that against the principles you so strongly profess?
When the [From the Right] guy submits his posts, they are journalistic.
Read them. You may learn something. No one can change anyone’s mind once
it is made up, but trust me; it’s not a bad idea to know what the other
side is thinking. Now focus your attacks on me, you really might learn
something. |

[Healthcare] During my last night's shift in the ER, I had the
pleasure of evaluating a patient with a shiny new gold tooth, multiple
elaborate tattoos, a very expensive brand of tennis shoes and a new
cellular telephone equipped with her favorite R&B tune for a ringtone.
Glancing over the chart, one could not help noticing her payer status:
Medicaid. She smokes more than one costly pack of cigarettes every day
and, somehow, still has money to buy beer.
And our Congress expects me to pay for this woman's
health care? Our nation's health care crisis is not a shortage of
quality hospitals, doctors or nurses. It is a crisis of culture — a
culture in which it is perfectly acceptable to spend money on vices
while refusing to take care of one's self or, heaven forbid, purchase
health insurance. A culture that thinks, "I can do whatever I want to
because someone else will always take care of me". Life is really not
that hard. Most of us reap what we sow. |

included a non-compete clause. Unbeknownst to the bar owner, the former

clause.
Now the catering business is closed. What goes around,

Alcoholism is a chronic disease
that makes your body dependent on alcohol. You may be obsessed with
alcohol and unable to control how much you drink, even though your
drinking is causing serious problems with your relationships, health,
work and finances.
It's possible to have a
problem with alcohol, but not display all the characteristics of
alcoholism. This is known as "alcohol abuse," which means you engage in
excessive drinking that causes health or social problems, but you aren't
dependent on alcohol and haven't fully lost control over the use of
alcohol.
Although many people assume
otherwise, alcoholism is a treatable disease. Medications, counseling
and self-help groups are among the therapies that can provide ongoing
support to help you recover from alcoholism. In medicine, a chronic
disease is a disease that is long-lasting or recurrent. The term
chronic describes the course of the disease, or its rate of onset
and development. A chronic course is distinguished from a recurrent
course; recurrent diseases relapse repeatedly, with periods of remission
in between. As an adjective, chronic can refer to a persistent
and lasting medical condition. Chronicity is usually applied to a
condition that lasts more than three months.
The definition of a disease
or causative condition may depend on the disease being chronic, and the
term chronic will often, but not always appear in the description. |

Arriving at the airfield, he spotted a plane warming up outside a
hanger. He jumped in with his bag, slammed the door shut, and shouted,
'Let's go'. The pilot taxied out, swung the plane into the wind and
took off. Once in the air, the photographer instructed the pilot, 'Fly
over the valley and make low passes so I can take pictures of the fires
on the hillsides.' 'Why?' asked the pilot. 'Because I'm a photographer

stammered, 'So, what you're telling me, is . . . you're not my

[From the
Right] Our
spider-like Democrat spinsters are attempting to weave yet another web
of confusion and distortion. The spin du jour says something like: “The
American people have been denied universal health care for 60 years”.
Well folks, in the last 60 years the American people have voted in
Medicare, Medicaid, S-CHIP (for poor kids) and a host of other
entitlement programs specifically focused on health care with a special
emphasis on lower income folks. Over the past 6 decades the taxes and
fees we have paid for these programs have headed for the sky. The costs
of these programs have increased geometrically. The costs far,
outrageously far, exceed what the elite thinkers of our government had
promised. These entitlement programs are teetering on bankruptcy. Now,
these programs are a Swiss cheese of fraud, waste, and corruption. It’s
insane, but Mr. Obama again wants to smother us with yet a bigger
entitlement program. The proponents of Obamacare actually have the
temerity to tell us that their Socialized medicine scheme will save us
money. To further the insult, they tell us that they are going to add 30
or so million folks to the gravy train, but adding all these sick bodies
will bring down the costs. Give me a freaking break! They tell us that
they will partially pay for it with “savings” in other entitlement
programs by the elimination of fraud, waste and corruption. That's
Donkey Dung! Why in the hell hasn’t fraud waste and corruption been
eliminated already? Then they tell us that they intend to save money on
Medicare, the only way to do that is to cut Medicare. Bye Bye Granny.
They appeal to class envy by claiming that the will only tax the “Rich”,
yet they reluctantly admit that taxes, fees, and premiums will have to
increase across the board. They lie about the scope of medical
bankruptcies. They lie about the true costs of their scheme by claiming
that the scheme will reduce our national debt. The fact is that they
will collect taxes and fees for 10 whole years but only deliver 6 years
of less of health care. In any economy this Obamacare scheme would be
bad governance, in this economy it’s suicide. Americans are finally
beginning to see through Mr. Obama’s rock star persona and beginning to
see his soul. As of yesterday only 38% of us were in favor of
Obamacare, while 54% are opposed. Let’s put the brakes on the 60 year
spin and recognize that the American people have been smart enough to
fight off a government takeover of our health care for the past 60
years, and let’s work, and/or pray that we have the resolve to continue
the fight for at least the next 60.
(Part II) A poster claimed that Rep. Joe (“Mr. Obama, you’re a liar”)
Wilson had mucked up the H1N1 situation by voting against certain
legislation. I believe that the complaining poster got that little
nugget from a web site called TBM Themuckracker. Surprise! Surprise! The
poster claimed that the legislation would have provided additional
funding for H1N1. He intimated that it was the Republicans who caused
the shortage of vaccine. I really don’t know if the poster is accurate
or not about the legislation or the vote, and it makes no difference.
Look gang, the Democrats hold a super majority and I'm virtually certain
that the H1N1 funding legislation passed as written. Without doubt, the
Republican opposition was beaten down and Mr. Obama got everything that
he wanted. The reason that the vaccine is now in short supply is because
Mr. Obama and his minions refused to act sooner. Mr. Obama had full
knowledge of the looming pandemic during the summer of 2008, long before
the election. Europeans had asked for help from the Obama administration
in March ‘09. Nonetheless, Mr. Obama’s minions didn’t even start
trials in humans until August. Man up, face it Obama acolytes, this mess
is all Mr. Obama’s mess. |

[Dumbing
Down] For those of you wondering what happened when our youth
cannot locate London on a globe or know what "D.C." stands for in
Washington D.C., I think I have a bit of insight. I used to
substitute teach and was active in my communities' education
curriculum selection process. Our town had traditional values (on
the conservative side) and local control of its curriculum.
Back before "No child left behind" was the trend du jour, there was
a program on the horizon called "Goals 2000". I warned parents and
school board members alike that it was a way for the Federal Gov't.
to get their foot in the door to control their schools' curriculum.
If they accepted the "Goals 2000" money they would have to adopt
whatever curriculum (and/or agenda) the Fed. Govt. dictated. Since
they were strapped for funds, as most school districts are, they
brought in Goals 2000 and ushered in the biggest decline in
academics that they had ever seen. Coupled with "No Child left
behind" the result was disastrous.
Academics generally moved at the pace of the slowest
child, already falling academic standards plunged over a cliff to
offset the slow pace, solid academics (reading, writing and 'rithmetic) were
being peppered with social coping skills (self-esteem, bullying,
self-esteem, peer pressure, self-esteem, etc.) and subjects like
Art, P.E. and Music replaced with classes espousing PC social
agendas (diversity, tolerance, gay/lesbian acceptance, environmental
awareness: Save the (fill in blank with whales, rain forest,
wolves etc.). It wasn't long before the kids couldn't "fail" a
class, they just received "non-passing" grades. It was found that
girls were lagging behind boys in certain subjects at the elementary
school level and a girl "empowerment" program began at the expense
of the boys. In fact, boys, who acted like typical boys, were often
"recommended for further behavioral evaluation" (i.e. little Johnnie
can't keep still in his seat, please take him to your
family doctor, mention your concern about ADD, and bring him back
when he is properly medicated). Awards that would recognize any
particular child's hard work and accomplishment were replaced with
the "Everyone gets a prize, because Everyone is special!" mantra.
It wasn't much of a surprise to me when, after years
of the Fed. Gov't. injecting their curriculum into our school
district, it was reported that more than 50% of our graduating High
School Seniors had to take remedial courses in their first year of
college. The percentage was much lower before Goals 2000.
Over the years I have asked many parents in many
communities, "does this sound like your school?" The overwhelming
answer has been, "Yes".
Our schools across the nation are producing
students that are technologically savvy but functionally
illiterate. Schools are doing a disservice to these kids because
while they may be "non-failed", coddled and told how special they
are in school, real life will hand them lessons about failure and
successes that they maybe completely unprepared to deal with. No,
Johnnie doesn't have a clue what "D.C." stands for or where London
is but he does know how to: not judge people or situations no matter
how outrageous they are, outsource blame for his own failures, be in
self-denial about a bad choice and its consequences, strive
for mediocrity since excellence is not rewarded, and be "Green" so
he can help save the planet. |

[Impending
sewer connections] I have been a property owner on BP for the
last 20 years, and have watched the transition from cesspits to
raised berms to injection wells. Now they are going to force many of
us into bankruptcy with their new central sewer system. None of
these systems fully address the pollution problem in one way or
another. With the expensive central sewer system it just puts the
pollution in one place, where the release of methane into the
atmosphere is just concentrated. The only way to stop the release of
the deadly greenhouse gasses is to separate the solids and digesting
them in an anaerobic digester. I believe this is the perfect
solution for the Keys. It would remove pollution from our waters and
atmosphere while providing natural gas that could be used to create
''green" energy.
I have been researching this for years and this last
summer decided it was time to act, so we built a home sized
digester. The results far exceeded what we expected, there is no
odor from the contained system and the gas quality is excellent. The
digester could be sized to fit from one house to a neighborhood to a
city. I feel it is time to be practical and solve the problem
instead of just redirecting the same problem with another expensive
project that will be financial ruin to many people. |

[Mr
Wrong Winger] Obama not supplying enough H1N1 vaccine? I guess
you can join Joe Wilson and his cult of hypocrisy.
Earlier
this year, there was a June vote on a supplementary appropriations
bill. Wilson joined 95% of Republicans and voted against the bill
(Just say no), which contained special funding to combat H1N1 both
domestically and internationally. But the bill also contained money
for other plans and programs Republicans viewed as wasteful.
Republicans who voted against it, like Wilson, favored a public
health program that would have resulted in even less vaccine than is
available now.
The only reason Wilson is yammering about it now is
because his wife was recently diagnosed with the swine flu. These
are the results you get with that typical Repub "Just Say No",
attitude. Sometimes the fallout lands on you. Don't blame Obama for
lack of vaccine, Mr Wrong Winger, blame your stonewalling cohorts. |

[Obama
The Destroyer] I just learned today from sources at
the Lawrence Livermore National Lab that the current
administration’s goal to use windmills to provide up to 20% of our
nation electrical power by 2030 are a definite threat to the human
race. By harnessing the wind so aggressively, we could be
inadvertently slowing down the rotation of the earth, thereby
causing the Earth’s orbit around the Sun to slow down eventually
hurling us into the Sun. This is no joke and pretty well known in
scientific circles. Depending on the orientation of the windmills
we could also increase the spin again causing the reverse to happen
and end up on the outer edge of our galaxy. |

[From the Right] Health care bankruptcies, the truth)
Obamacare will cost us a lot more for insurance and higher taxes.
Unfortunately the poster has fallen prey to the huge stinking lie that
claims that 60% of bankruptcies are caused by medical bills. Here’s the
truth: In 2005 a Harvard study conducted by Dr. Steffie Woolhandler and
others set out to further their goal of forcing socialized medicine on
America. They embarked on a study of US bankruptcies. In summary, they
claimed that 54.5% of bankruptcies had a “medical cause”. The media then
morphed that into the shocking statement that medical bills caused 55 or so
percent of all bankruptcies. That claim is not true. Anyone who reads Dr.
Woolhandler’s study, will learn that she does not even claim that illness or
injury was the primary cause of the bankruptcies. However, incredibly she
does claim that “uncontrolled gambling” “drug or alcohol addiction”, “the
birth, death, or adoption of a child” are all “medically related causes”.
All of the foregoing were counted as medical bankruptcies whether or not any
medical bills were an involved factor. C’mon folks, use some grey matter
here. A father who has gambled away his family's mortgage payment is not
likely the victim of crushing medical bills, but because Ms. Woolhandler
used gambling addiction as a medical factor, it will be counted. Face it, a
set of brand new parents who suddenly find themselves unable to pay for
their new lifestyle, because Mommy had to quit work, probably consider the
OBGYN bill the least of their worries. Nonetheless, Dr. Woolhandler counts
it a medical bankruptcy.. In a study done on the study (!) it was learned
that fewer than 28% of the study subjects actually agreed with Woolhandler’s
findings. That study on the study revealed the magnitude of Woolhandler’s
fraud: Only 27 percent of the surveyed debtors had unreimbursed medical
expenses exceeding $1,000 over the course of the two years prior to their
bankruptcy. Presumably 73 percent — the vast majority — had medical expenses
during that two-year period of $1,000 or less. Folks, I’m here to tell you
that that isn’t crushing medical bills. The long and short of it is that Dr.
Woolhandler, a raging proponent of socialized medicine, claimed that 54.5%
of all bankruptcies were medically caused even if only a tiny portion of the
totality of the debt was actually medically related. The study is
unrepentant, unadulterated, 99 and 44% pure donkey dung. Many of us salivate
at the stupid notion that Obamacare will deliver free medical care.
Obamacare may provide a few with care that that they don’t personally pay
for, but the colossal majority of us will be paying a hell of a lot
more while getting a hell of a lot less health care. That government health
care will absolutely decline in quality. Perhaps worse, it will be rationed.
Medicare patients will see a multi trillion dollar cut in services. If
you’re interested in the truth, I urge you to take a couple minutes and
read:

(Part II) I have
no quarrel with folks who hate war, I hate war too. I have loved ones who
are military and in harm’s way. Some are at the point of the spear. I do
have a beef with people who muddle the facts. Yesterday a poster likened
Afghanistan to Vietnam. Afghanistan is no more like Vietnam than salt is
like pepper. We got into Vietnam to help out the French and ultimately to
try and halt the spread of Communism in the region. I hope that we can all
agree that it was the 9/11/01 terrorists attack on the USA that precipitated
our invasion of Afghanistan. Afghanistan was/is home base, training
grounds, financial support, recruitment source and hide out for AQI. We
invaded Afghanistan to punish and to try to eradicate AQI and its nest mate,
the Taliban. We won the initial war. We whipped the Taliban, driving them
from power. We chased AQI into the wild mountains. But then we screwed the
pooch with the occupation. We must again prevail. If we fail the Muslim
fundamentalists will reform, regroup, and attack us again and again and
again. Better to fight them in their homes than in our homes.
The thought at the
war is over petro is just plain silly. We do not get any petro from
Afghanistan, nor is petro an Afghan resource. We won virtually every single
battle, but lost the war in Vietnam because we chose to lose the war in
Vietnam. We defeated ourselves: we lost the will and resolve to win. We must
not be defeated by ourselves again, the cost is too high. When we invaded
Afghanistan, Democrat leadership characterized the invasion as being the
Righteous War, nothing has changed. |

[Teachers] Have you ever watched Jay Leno’s feature
“Jay Walking” where he goes out to the street and asks America’s youth
simple questions like “What does the D.C. stand for in Washington D.C.?” One
dodo answered, “Da Capitol?” I know they are extreme dodos, but the average
high school kid can’t even find London on a map.

Bring back corporal punishment and teach kids that there are

Afghanistan
is just like Vietnam. We just keep sending more
and more troops to kill and die with no idea of why we are there. Fighting
terrorist? Protecting our freedom? Not! It’s more like protecting the oil
supply.
If a
hundred thousand Russian troops invaded Florida and tried to change the way
we’ve done things here for centuries (a system that worked for us, even if
the Russians couldn’t understand it and thought they had a better way of
government) and killed anyone who opposed them we would become saboteurs and
terrorists too. We’d hate them forever and try to kill them with all our
hearts.
There is no difference between this scenario and how the Afghans see our
invasion. They are in the right and we will lose this war like we did in
Vietnam and for the very same reasons. |
|
[Healthcare]
60% of bankruptcies in this country are caused by medical bills. 80% of
these people have health insurance. And you’re trying to tell me we
don’t need to get rid of the private insurers and their abusive practices?
Bring on government health insurance. It'll cost more, we'll have to raise
taxes and it won't be perfect, but anything is better than private insurers
(unless someone else pays for yours). |

[Incorporation]
We went to Marathon's 10th birthday party last night. We enjoyed a free
concert and had a great time. Marathon has a lot to be proud of, including
the City Marina, the City Amphitheater, the City Skate Park and the City
Beach. I wasn't around here ten years ago when both Marathon and Big Pine
were voting on incorporation, but it's pretty clear which community got it
right. All Big Pine can claim for staying unincorporated is the highest
sewer fees in the Keys. |

Did you ever wonder about the logic of religion (an
oxymoron)? We kill trees, our oxygen producers, to celebrate holidays. We
spell Holidays like this, instead of Holydays! We have separate
celebrations for separate religions that preach "love thy neighbor", "one
human family", yet we will not go to each other’s holy place to pray. We
make plaster and stone images of somebody we cannot prove existed and kill
those who will not go along with our views. The world is nuts. |

[Bush

years of Mr. Bush's admin, no American blood had been shed on American soil
by terrorist attack". How can you argue with that statement? Do you not
consider the individuals who flew into the twin towers terrorists? 9/11
happened during the Bush Administration. You're a nut. You are an obsessed
individual who is filled with hate and bitterness. It must be so tough to go

[Immigration]
The Department of Homeland Security estimated in 2007 that there were
approximately 12 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.,
compared to 8.5 million in 2000. I believe that businesses should do their
part by eliminating the use of undocumented workers. Businesses should be
required to submit the Social Security or immigrant identification numbers
of any job applicant to a computerized system that will determine whether
they are permitted to work and should be sanctioned if they do not comply
with this protocol. |

I figure the neo-con robots who post on this site under the guise of
concerned Americans (racist Americans) will enjoy this story.
Wolf Interstate Leasing in
Wheat Ridge, Colorado has put up a billboard insinuating that President
Obama is somehow tied to Jihadists and the Fort Hood shootings. The
billboard features cartoons that show a caricatured President morphing from
a suit-wearing politician into a turban-wearing jihadist. The words,
"Remember Ft. Hood" appear at the bottom.
The manager of the store defended the billboard on David
Sirota's morning show by claiming that the words "We are a Christian nation"
appear in the constitution (which is not true).
Isn't it refreshing to know that Strom Thurmond's legacy
lives on? These types want to put the "Christ" back into "Christmas", but
apparently they want to keep the "color" out of "Colorado". By the way, who
did these caricatures? A 1940's Disney animator? |

[Flea Market] Saturday was a nice day so I thought I
would jump in the van, hit the flea market and do a few errands around town.
I pulled into the flea market. I started toward the stand that sells the
camper stuff, but before I got half way there my phone rang. I answered it
to threats of being towed and was told I had to leave the grounds. It seemed
it was because I am selling my van and had a for sale sign in the window. I
was thrown out. I think it’s not right. I'm not a vendor. Do I have to quit
driving my legal, insured vehicle and be banished from public flea markets?
I know they cost their vendors a couple of sales yesterday and also in the
future. I will never go to that place again and will voice my
dissatisfaction to everyone I see. And to the man on the mobility scooter
who caused me such grief over nothing illegal or wrong, karma will get you. |

[From the Right]
Mr. Obama has polarized America as no previous President has. We fought a
civil war because of a schism between our north and south. The Obama schism
engulfs our entire nation. The epic rift is between those who espouse the
notion that our national interests are best served by a government that is
all powerful, all controlling, yet compassionate. That leftist government is
to be controlled by an elite few. That leftist philosophy is warmly embraced
by Mr. Obama and his minions. On the other side are those who ferociously
continue to embrace the fundamental precepts of our nation’s founders. These
Americans believe in American exceptionalism and that the best government is
the government that governs least.
Mr. Obama has
managed to increase unemployment by 3 million just since the passage of his
stimulus bill. During the 10 months of his management, the unemployment rate
has grown from 5% to 10.5%. Mr. Obama recently, with fan fare, proudly
unveiled a web site to chronicle the successes of his stimulus plan. That
web site has been proven to be riddled with falsehoods and fraudulent
reporting. Mr. Obama has blindly accepted its data. Mr. Obama has managed to
convince segments of the media and the public that the term “saved jobs” is
a quantifiable value.
Mr. Obama proved
that racism no longer is a factor in American politics simply by getting
elected. Since his inauguration he has managed to convert a populist
approval rating of 65% vs a disapproval rating of only 30% to a current
approval rating of only 47% and a disapproval rating of 52%. During that
same time period he converted his Presidential approval index from +28 to
-14.
Mr. Obama, while
exuding charisma, has managed to insult sundry members of our most loyal
overseas allies. He has convinced the world that America is prepared to
abandon Democratic nations to aggressors. He has managed to shed the
American global reputation of being staunch defenders of the principles of
democracy and freedom, and has donned the cloak of an appeaser.
Mr. Obama has
managed to triple our national deficit in only 10 months and to rocket our
national debt to heights never before seen. Our national debt is so
worrisome that one of our major debt holders, China, had lectured Mr. Obama.
Mr. Obama himself has acknowledged that our debt is unsustainable yet he
insists on seeking to increase that debt by demanding even more entitlement
programs.
I hope this brief
sampling of Mr. Obama’s accomplishments is of interest.
(Part II) The H1N1 disease is here, but there’s not enough vaccine. Here's
why: The Obama admin was warned about H1N1 very early in 09, they knew that
the European governments were making and stockpiling vaccine. Other nations
had actually asked for our help, but we refused. The world was getting ready
for pandemic. But Mr. Obama wasn’t. Mr. Obama’s minions didn’t even start
testing vaccine until August. On 9/17, it was reported: "The United States,
France and Britain are among nine countries that pledged Thursday to make 10
percent of their swine flu vaccine supply available to other nations that
may need it". On October 29th,CNS reported: “Health
and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said the federal government
has known all along there would not be enough H1N1 vaccine to cover all
at-risk Americans and that (Obama administration) plans to donate a
percentage of the U.S. supply to foreign countries is still under
consideration.” As astounding as it may seem, the Obama administration,
knowing that there they have failed to make sufficient vaccine available to
protect at risk Americans, actually are preparing to ship a portion of that
precious and limited vaccine supply overseas! Now isn’t that just ducky? Are
you absolutely positive that you want these people running your health care
system? |

A dear friend of ours, Dave Adams, was
critically injured in a motorcycle accident yesterday in Marathon. He was
evidently going to lunch on his new chopper...I don't know what or why it
happened (they're still investigating the accident) but somehow, he lost
control of his motorcycle and veered into oncoming traffic. His bike slid
out from under him, and he was jammed under an oncoming, small car. They had
to lift the car off of him, and he was flown to Miami to Jackson Memorial's
trauma center. His wife was driven up there yesterday afternoon, but they
wouldn't let her even see him, so she came back home last night. She is
obviously a basket case right now. So far, here is what we know: he has
one broken leg, his face was messed up pretty bad, he cracked pretty well
all of his ribs, and right now, the dangerous thing is that both of his
lungs have collapsed. I'm not sure of what other internal injuries there
might be, but Dave was still not completely well from another accident about
six weeks ago, when a Key deer ran out in front of his other motorcycle on
his way to work. It totaled that bike, and he was in the hospital for
several days, with one collapsed lung, some cracked ribs, and a messed up
shoulder. Yeah, I know, he shouldn't have been riding so soon, but he loves
his bikes, and what can you do?
I think the Lord is telling him to stop riding, if he pulls through this.
I'm asking for all the prayers and good thoughts that you can muster for him
and his wife Donna. If any of you has a prayer group at church, could you
ask them to pray for him too?
Thanks a bunch...love...Carlene |
Big Piners do not have to get sewerlines and expensive sewer
connections. Businesses will have to dish out over $100,000 each. Home
Owners are looking at $25K minimum...Trailer parks will have to close down
(like those in Marathon have had to do).
If you unite now and start a referendum and become a Village...township..then
you don't have to do a lot of things that you don't want to do or want to
pay for.
It was an idea that was shot down before (by vote) but the issue was not as
important back then, As It is now.
If a petition is drawn up and signed to put our own Township on a ballot -
then by 2010 the Villages of Big Pine Key can become a reality.
I don't like the term "village" as of that new "Prisoner" show. yuk. Let's
say "township"..
We then draft a charter allowing the basic form of government -"Town Hall"
rules. Everybody can speakup and bring up their own ideas for a town hall
vote...
Sounds like fun huh!
Why do all this? Because most of us know our septic systems are working just
fine and we do not need to put in sewers or pay for sewers if we do not want
sewers.
The County Commission wants sewers - so unless we vote them out and put anti
sewer people in - we are going to have to bend over. It will cost us our
homes and trailers and businesses...Even if we don't have em - we will have
to pay for them (Port Piners Notice This).
What NOBODY seems to have grasped - is that a Township Government is the
strongest form of Government.
What we vote on as a township will hold to the Supreme Court.
Case in Point.
Ramsey South or North Dakota - one of those Dakota's -- tired of the Fish
and Wildlife people taking a lot of their lands off their tax roles - found
that they could no longer afford to keep their fire department running.
They voted that Fish and Wildlife could not buy or take anymore of their
lands and that they must return some of their F&W purchased lands back into
private ownship and put them on the tax roles... Fish and Wildlife laughed
at the little commissioners - it went to the Supreme Court.
The Ramsey County Commissioners ruled !... Power of small town government is
what this country is founded upon...
Look it up yourself and maybe you will see that Big Pine can self rule and
even tell the Key Deer refuge to return lands to the tax roles to pay for
some of our small government needs..
Also, as a township voting to say no to sewers - you can and will rule over
that as well.
If all of the people who hit the Coconut Telegraph wanted to go beyond just
posting their ideas and concerns - they could form the first Big Pine
Government and put their ideas to work...
Or, just read and post, read and post and let somebody else rule over your
life...
Say if Eden Piner's wanted their neighborhood to get sewers - then as a
township - you could vote that they get what they want and they can make it
happen under local rule..or not.
No Namer's can name their own ticket as well and individuals that had sway
over County and State officials would now have to gain sway over their
neighbors in a Town Hall Meeting... That's how Town Hall Government works.
This posting will shake up the powers that be. I hope it will sway a few of
us to start the petitions for home rule once again.

Eight pythons have been discovered in the
Keys so far.
There is no way to know with certainty
how many Burmese pythons are in the southern Florida area. But
they likely number well into the thousands. Some scientists
estimate there may hundreds of thousands of these snakes within
the state. How could this happen in only 17 years? How could
these snakes propagate so quickly? The answer to this question
lies within the reproductive characteristics of the Burmese
python.
A female Burmese python can lay more than
30 eggs at a time. In fact, a previous sampling of nest sites in
the Everglades National Park found an average of 36 eggs per
site. Larger females can easily exceed these numbers. One
female captured in the Everglades was found to have 85 eggs
developing inside her. A well-fed female python will generally
reach sexual maturity in a few years. On top of that, these
snakes can live for more than 20 years in the wild, and healthy
females can reproduce annually for much of that lifespan.
Now take that reproductive capacity and spread it over the last
17 years or so, when these snakes are believed to have entered
the Everglades in large numbers. Do the math. It's staggering!
These snakes are here to stay and are continuing to breed. So,
enjoy your walk through the natural habitat of the keys.

Current U.S. Health System Leads the Way, we don't need a
change?
My question is which way on H1N1 prevention for all?
According to Monroe County schools they have clinics planned
fm Nov 9 thru Dec for specific Classes.
"The Health Department said 24 vaccination clinics are
planned between Nov. 2 and Dec. 17 at schools from Key West
to Key Largo. All children will be able to receive the
vaccine free with parental permission. No child will be
forced to receive the vaccine."
According to the Fla Department of Health "No Clinics are
planned in Monroe County" this was as of Nov 17, 2009, the
latest update of their website. You can also link to

[Where are all the war protesters?] They're all home on
their computers trying to protect their president from
justified attacks on his radical policies. The anti-war
protests were all about Bush, NOT the war! They called Bush;
Hitler, baby killer, a war criminal, murderer & even burned
effigies of him. The war hasn't changed, innocent civilians,
babies & our troops are still being killed. What has changed
is Obama's alphabet news channels. They've stopped promoting
the graphic film clips of death, crying mothers, burned
stuffed toys & baby clothes shredded by drone rocket
attacks. There's no more long in depth tearful rambles from
pro-Obama supporters with tingles up their legs. Other Bush
hating MSNBC opinion shows now say nothing about Obama
killing innocent civilians. Why Not? Because Bush is gone!
Why do posters so concerned about "Biased News Reporting"
Always exclude the all pro-Obama alphabet news channels?
Obama is killing innocent civilians "Just Like Bush Did" yet
Not A word! Obama clearly "inherited" that same murderous
Hitler attitude Bush was labeled with by the far left. So
now those same self righteous, sanctimonious phony war
protesters say & do nothing, WHY? Because it was ALL about
Bush nothing else! By the way, where were all the concerned
voices & calls for respecting America's president when the
far left was bashing Bush & burning his effigies dressed as
Hitler? Why they were lighting the matches & egging the
crowds on of course!
Just imagine how unglued those same people will get watching
an Obama effigy, dressed as a Nazi being burned up! That's
OK right? You've always said... THAT IS FREE SPEECH! After
years of vile far left wing protests, the lefties are
shocked that average American taxpayers are now fed up,
fighting back & protesting too! It is just driving them NUTS
& their only defense is to cry Racism! Well, that dog don't
hunt ANYMORE Folks!

or very bad news for Mr Obama |

Senior
Health Care Solution
So you're a senior citizen and the government says no health
care for you, what do you do?
Our plan gives anyone 65 years or older a gun and 4 bullets.
Your are allowed to shoot 2 senators and 2 representatives.
Of Course, this means you will be sent to prison.
There you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head, and all
the health care you need! New teeth, no problem.
Need glasses, great. New hip, knees, kidney, lungs, heart? All
covered.
And who will be paying for all of this? The same government
that just told you that you are too old for health care.
Plus, because you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income
taxes anymore..
IS THIS A GREAT COUNTRY OR WHAT?!

Mr. Obama's job approval numbers will dip below 50% for the
first time today in Gallup's daily tracking poll, according
to a Gallup official.
"Gallup Daily tracking results just in. Obama will be below
50% for the first time when we update our numbers at 1:00
p.m.," wrote Gallup.com managing news editor Lymari Morales
on Twitter.
His approval numbers have bounced down to the 50% mark
several times, driven by weaker support from independents
and Republicans, but hadn't crossed it.
The slide is worrying for the White House

Cowboy
Rules - This should be a poster!!!
Arizona, Texas , Colorado , Oklahoma ,
New Mexico , Wyoming , Montana , Utah ,
Idaho, Nevada
and the rest of the Wild West are as
follows:
1. Pull your pants up. You look like an
idiot.
2. Turn your cap right, your head ain't
crooked.
3. Let's get this straight: it's called
a 'gravel road.' I drive a
pickup truck because I want to. No
matter how slow you drive,
you're gonna get dust on your Lexus.
Drive it or get out of the way.
4. They are cattle. That's why they
smell like cattle. They
smell like money to us. Get over it.
Don't like it? I-10, I-40, I-70 and
I-80 go east and west, I-17, I-15, I-25
and I-35 goes north and
south. Pick one and go.
5. So you have a $60,000 car. We're
impressed. We have
$250,000 Combines that are driven only 3
weeks a year.
6. Every person in the Wild West waves.
It's called being
friendly. Try to understand the
concept...
7. If that cell phone rings while a
bunch of geese/pheasants/ducks/doves are
comin' in during the hunts, we WILL
shoot it outa your hand. You better hope
you don't have it up
to your ear at the time.
8. Yeah. We eat trout, salmon, deer and
elk. You really want
sushi and caviar? It's available at the
corner bait shop.
9. The 'Opener' refers to the first day
of deer season. It's a
religious holiday held the closest
Saturday to the first of
November..
10. We open doors for women. That's
applied to all women,
regardless of age.
11. No, there's no 'vegetarian special'
on the menu. Order
steak, or you can order the Chef's Salad
and pick off the 2
pounds of ham and turkey.
12. When we fill out a table, there are
three main dishes: meats, vegetables,
and breads. We use three spices: salt,
pepper,
and ketchup! Oh, yeah . . We don't care
what you folks in
Cincinnati call that stuff you eat IT
AIN'T REAL CHILI!!
13. You bring 'Coke' into my house, it
better be brown, wet
and served over ice. You bring 'Mary
Jane' into my house, she
better be cute, know how to shoot, drive
a truck, and have
long hair.
14. College and High School Football is
as important here as
the Giants, the Yankees, the Mets, the
Lakers and the Knicks,
and a dang site more fun to watch.
15. Yeah, we have golf courses. But
don't hit the water hazards - it spooks
the fish.
16. Turn down that blasted car stereo!
That thumpity-thump
crap ain't music, anyway. We don't want
to hear it anymore
than we want to see your boxers! Refer
back to #1!

Sitting together on a
train was
Obama,
George Bush Jr., a little old lady, and a young blonde
girl with large breasts.
The train goes into a dark tunnel and a few seconds later there is the
sound of a loud slap. When
the train emerges from the tunnel, Obama has a bright
red hand print on his cheek. No
one speaks.
The old lady thinks: Obama
must have groped the blonde in the dark, and she slapped him.
The blonde girl thinks: Obama
must have tried to grope me in the dark, but missed and fondled the old
lady and she slapped him.
Obama thinks: Bush
must have groped the blonde in the dark. She tried to slap him but
missed and got me instead.
George Bush
thinks: I
can't wait for another tunnel, so I can smack Obama again. |

I did not just agree with the statement: “during the years of Mr. Bush’s
admin, no American blood had been shed on American soil by terrorist
attack”. And that “AQI attacks had diminished to near zero worldwide.” I
wrote those words! Both statements are absolutely true. Here’s another
word: “obtuse”: it means
“Lacking
quickness of perception or intellect.” I would hazard a guess that 99.9% of
folks who read those opinions realized that the War on Terror did not begin
until after 9/11/01. It was Mr. Bush who finally initiated the conflict. It
was Mr. Bush who took the fight to the terrorists. But perhaps I
overestimated the intellect of some of the liberal /progressive and
overwhelmingly obtuse members of the CT community. Pity! Perhaps I should
have used more precise language in speaking of terrorist’s attacks. Perhaps
I should have said: “during the Bush administration and after the beginning
of the war on terror, and after AQI had been the subject of unrelenting
punishing attack by the United States and its allies, in spite of the
resistance to the initiative by Senator Obama and a host of other
liberal/progressive legislators who were overwhelmingly Democrat, (take a
breath), AQI terrorists attacks on noncombatant persons not in either of the
two theaters of conflict diminished to near zero.” That too is absolutely
true, but clumsy. I’ll bet that anyone who is not obtuse got the shorter
message. As to Mr. Obama’s sterling performance as Americas Apologist in
Chief, I’ll save a lot of my typing and your reading and just suggest that
anyone who has an interest in the issue, read the article listed below. I do
suggest that the obtuse avoid the article because it might be enlightening,
and it makes yesterday’s offended poster look pretty silly. The title is
“Top ten Obama Apologies”.
http://www..humanevents.com/article.php?id=32296
|
It’s a sad reflection on the
Liberal/Progressive members of the CT community that not a single
one of them even bothered to comment yesterday on Mr. Obama’s
flagship legislation, Obamacare. So we don’t know if they support or
oppose the bill, and more importantly, why. Genuine thought is a lot
to ask of a lot of those folks. Saturday begins the true trench
fight on Reid’s version of Obamacare. This legislation is every bit
as important to Mr. Obama’s agenda as was the battle for Stalingrad
for Hitler and Joe Stalin. Tomorrow will be the cloture vote. There
is the very real potential for an absolutely crushing defeat for Mr.
Obama. If the bill makes it through the cloture vote, the real
knife fight will begin. It will be fascinating. And yet a couple of
our CT L/P’s thought that tossing feces at this Right Winger was
more important. Sad, but no surprise. |

[The
Dragon’s Tail]
This is a really nice, twisty, smooth (watch out for the leaves in the
fall-slippery) and beautiful bike ride. It makes L.A.'s Mulholland
Canyon Drive look, I don't know … plain. I rode the canyon, Lake
Elsinore, (and others in CA), mostly on British twins and a few mid 70's
imports. I rode "The Tail" on my first bike, a '60 Bonney
street/race/hot rod and had the time of my life. If, in your lifetime,
you get to take one special ride, take this one! It's even very cool in
a good car. |

If I had a choice I would take the Loch Ness monster over the
invasive python. I guess you have not been reading the papers or
listening to the local news. The pythons are breeding faster than the
locals and they are migrating through the Keys. They found a few, as big
as the one in the video in the Islamorada area. They have even set up a
python hot line. They have issued permits to allow hunters to kill them
on the spot. I think the last count was 37 killed so far. So, go ahead
and walk the habitat with your loved ones and have a great day enjoying
nature. Maybe bring your pet along as bait. |

[No
Name Key Electric] It makes no difference to me if you have power or
not, but you folks do seem to do a lot of whining, whichever side you're
on. What I have failed to notice is any real effort or creativity in
solving the problem. Public opinion has nothing to do with it. It is a
matter of the opinions of the people on No Name.
You'll have to admit, it is kind of like people who buy
houses at the end of an airport runway and then complain about the noise
from the airplanes. They say, golly gee, "I didn't know jumbo jets were
so loud, or the real estate agent told me that the airport was going to
have jets you couldn't even hear."
It isn't like someone took the power away after you
purchased your house there. Did the real estate agent tell you there was
going to be power soon? Sucker. Did you move there because you liked the
sound of generators running? I don't get it.
Show some creativity, get off your butts and do
something. Then write about it here. Lets see, just some ideas off the
top of my head. Get a county ordinance introduced and passed banning the
use of generators for non-emergency use. I could think of all kinds of
legal and other arguments for that one. Various times I have read about
homes of people around airports being sound proofed at government
expense. Remember the free house insulation that many states and the
feds paid for some years back. I got my house done free.
You people should do some research. There must be some
green money available. Get together and form a corporation and apply for
grants and things like Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)
contracts from the Dept. of Energy to turn No Name into a solar energy
utopia and demonstration project. Then the electric company will want to
connect you up to buy all that surplus power so they can resell it for a
profit. How could the County board, or anyone, stop that?
In the late 90's I won many hundreds of thousands of
dollars in SBIR contracts from DOD, CDC, and the Dept. of Education.
If you got together, you could probably do a joint solar
system that would supply all the houses taking part for much less money
than putting solar panels on the top of each house. Panels to create hot
water are cheap. Panels for electricity are very expensive. However,
there are other approaches that produce much more power. For instance, a
12x12 panel with 144 mirrors aimed at a central point where there is a
little boiler that collects the heat. It turns water into steam which
then powers a steam engine that turns a generator. Takes some brains and
work, but you can produce lots of power cheaper than solar cells. It is
during the day you need most of the power anyway and store the excess in
batteries. You could have a central hot water system by putting coils
around the steam pipe after the generator to create hot water. By
eliminating water heaters you would save tons of power. Many cities up
north have central heating for their downtowns from nearby power plants.
Heck, if people just put in a few cheap water heating panels they could
save tons of power.
This would all cost less than what you are going to be
charged to put in the poles and run the wire from the electric company
and you wouldn't have those ugly things all over your island.
Come on people, if you really care, do something and stop
sitting on your butts waiting for somebody else to do the work for you.
Stop being such a bunch of lazy intellectually dead whiners. |

conscious awareness"). Sorry libtards, you have lost the use of the

Excerpt
from a Romanian Newspaper. The article was
written by Mr. Cornel Nistorescu and published under the title 'C'ntarea
Americii, meaning Ode To America in the Romanian newspaper
Evenimentulzilei 'The Daily Event' or 'News of the Day'.
An Ode to America. Why are Americans so united? They would not
resemble one another even if you painted them all one color! They speak
all the languages of the world and form an astonishing mixture of
civilizations and religious beliefs.
On 9/11, the American tragedy turned three hundred million people into a
hand put on the heart. Nobody rushed to accuse the White House, the
Army, or the Secret Service that they are only a bunch of losers.
Nobody rushed to empty their bank accounts. Nobody rushed out onto the
streets nearby to gape about. Instead the Americans volunteered to
donate blood and to give a helping hand.
After the first moments of panic, they raised their flag over the
smoking ruins, putting on T-shirts, caps and ties in the colors of the
national flag. They placed flags on buildings and cars as if in every
place and on every car a government official or the president was
passing. On every occasion, they started singing: 'God Bless America !'
I watched the live broadcast and rerun after rerun for hours listening
to the story of the guy who went down one hundred floors with a woman in
a wheelchair without knowing who she was, or of the Californian hockey
player, who gave his life fighting with the terrorists and prevented the
plane from hitting a target that could have killed other hundreds or
thousands of people.
How on earth were they able to respond united as one human being?
Imperceptibly, with every word and musical note, the memory of some
turned into a modern myth of tragic heroes. And with every phone call,
millions and millions of dollars were put into collection aimed at
rewarding not a man or a family, but a spirit, which no money can buy.
What on earth can unite the Americans in such way? Their land? Their
history? Their economic power? Money? I tried for hours to find an
answer, humming songs and murmuring phrases with the risk of sounding
commonplace, I thought things over, I reached but only one conclusion
.... Only freedom can work such miracles. |

[Python doubter] There have already been several snakes found in
the Keys that are large enough to swallow the puny Key deer. Didn’t you
see the photos earlier this week of giants that have already been caught
in the Keys? |

another fish place. Gringos Cantina was the best. We went there
several times a week. |

[Profit] The mentality of the merchant class is
amazing. If a manufacturer sells an item for $1 and has a material cost
increase of .10 cents, he has to raise his selling price to $1.10 to
keep in business. Now comes the wholesaler. His mark-up on the original
cost of $1 is 100%, so his wholesale price was $2, but he sees the .10
cents the manufacturer added on not as .10 cents but as a 10% increase.
He now jacks up his wholesale price on the $2price, by 20% to $2.40. The
retailer sees this increase the same way, which amounts to $2.88. If
there were several handlers of the product before it got to the
retailer, the final price could go through the roof! |

This forum is a much better
place to dispute socialized medicine and the Obama administration, two
subjects which no amount of Coconut Telegraph chatter will effect or
change. Yeah, discussing local politics, issues, inadequacies and
injustices which effect our residents is a waste of time. Thank you dear
poster, or should I say "imposter", for clarifying that for us! |

[More bar wisdom] I know how to please my wife in bed. I give her
all the blankets and pillows and usually sleep on the floor. |

I want to send my support to from the Right guy. I
don’t have an MTV attention span so I thoroughly enjoy your long posts.
Make them longer. The people who demonize you are the same bigoted,
mindless leftists that ranked Charlton Heston next to Hitler because he
was outspoken on gun owners’ rights among other things. I love pointing
out to these people that Heston was also one of the first Hollywood
types to proudly march with Martin Luther King for civil rights. Watch
the “progressives” sputter and spit on that one. They are so locked in a
Neanderthal mindset where people can only be this or that. I must quote
Lenny Bruce who didn’t call himself a comedian (because he wasn’t funny)
but a social satirist which was funny, “The
liberals can understand everything but people who don't understand
them.” That’s one thing Lenny and I agree on. |

USPS new stamp celebrates Muslim holiday.
Refuse to use them. Spit on the front. They haven’t earned our trust and
don’t deserve a stamp. |

[Revolution] Good
God! Is that person actually suggesting that the military overthrow the
U.S. government? Is he insane? Can he spell Fascism? No he can't. He
can't spell martial law either (its not Marshall, my friend; the
Marshall plan is what rebuilt Europe after WW11).
(Ed: This is the same nut who threatened Obama’s life.) |

Those of you who that like to write books should do so and have
them published, but not on here! Those long winded tomes are totally
ridiculous. |

[AA as a Cult] Look up the meaning of the word
cult. Your juvenile rant fails on all levels. I think I’ve seen it two
or thee times before. It’s just like a common drunk to keep repeating
themselves. A cult uses physical and/or financial coercion, threatened
or implied to keep you in. The Manson Family and Scientology come to
mind. The only person I ever saw bar the door at an AA meeting was a
300-pounder who passed out on the out side of it. A smaller member had
to go out through a church basement window to rectify the situation.
Personally, I’m really glad you won’t show up at our meetings. That’s
valuable time in my life.
Meetings certainly aren’t for everyone. We strive really
hard not to take other people’s inventories. Your resentments, by the
way are and will only harm you. It’s like drinking poison and waiting
for the other person to die. Join us or don’t. We don’t recruit. You
either come to us or you don’t. You stay or you don’t. I’ve seen people
recover in AA, and die of alcoholism in AA. Just like I’ve seen it
outside AA. Did you just realize that today? What’s your point? |

[Obama lovers] If he went to lunch and came back

[Anti-presidential racism] I wouldn't like his policies coming
from a white man, either. I think a lot of those slams come from the
frustration of watching the stampede to bigger, more controlling govt.
It's just an easy way to make a negative comment, even when it's got
nothing to do with the topic. It’s also called a cheap shot. |

[Big Government] Those who do not learn the lessons of history
are condemned to repeat it. ~Georges Santayana
After World War I, in 1935, the British signed a naval agreement
allowing Germany to rebuild its navy, essentially abrogating the Treaty
of Versailles. The rationale for the treaty was that by showing good
will toward the Nazis, lasting peace would be achieved.
At the end of World War I, with 62 capital ships in commission, the
British navy functioned with about 2,000 people on staff. By 1935, with
only 20 capital ships afloat, when the above treaty was signed, there
were 8,118 Admiralty staffers (read bureaucrats) on the payroll.
Sound familiar? |

[Prediction]
I'm not really concerned about swine flu, but here's my concern:
Three years ago, Chinese
calendar year of the Cow gave us Mad Cow disease. Two years ago, Chinese
calendar year of the Bird gave us Avian flu. This year, Chinese calendar
year of the Pig gives us Swine flu.
Next year is the Chinese calendar year of the Cock. Something else to
worry about, right! |

What is with all the long winded tomes recently? It reminds me of
the bad old days with Sloan's babbling filling up the CT with his
nonsense. Sounds like a bunch of self-important grouchy old men. |

[Ignore List] Does everyone remember when the
hate-monger Reverend Phelps came to Key West a few months ago? And do
you also remember that the gay community decided to ignore this creep,
thereby giving him no audience to espouse his hatred. I'm urging all
posters here to do the same with this dumbass from the right, the more
people respond, the longer his lies become. He's on my ignore list. I
won't give any more energy to his nonsense and pandering for attention. |

[Orion Bank failure]
Why is it I was not surprised when I saw which real estate broker it was
who was involved with the Orion Bank failure? Once I saw a real estate
firm and a bank that issued bogus loans I had two in mind and he was one
of them. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. |

[Clone] There once was a very successful
thirty-five year old church pastor. He shepherds his flock well and is
highly regarded. The pastor began to worry about who will take over when
he passes on or retires. So the pastor clones himself. The clone is an
infant and the pastor raises his successor to be. Now the pastor is 70
and the clone is 35. However, a serious problem has developed. The clone
has become extremely foul mouthed and cannot be broken of this habit.
Not suitable for a church pastor. So the pastor realizes, sadly, that he
must get rid of his clone. One dark and rainy night the pastor takes his
clone up on a high bridge and pushes the clone off. Subsequently the
pastor is caught by the police and arrested. The pastor is charged with
making an obscene clone fall! |

As we all know, a demagogue is a celebrity who makes use of
popular prejudices to get attention. Who is the biggest one, Palin,
Beck or Limbaugh? |

Those congressmen and women have had it easy for

[No
Name Key Solution] It is obvious that the NNK argument is personal
and vicious, so I offer this solution. Invite all from No Name Key that
have skin in the game to a cookout on the bridge. Then blow the bridge.
Problem solved. While I’m thinking of it, invite the right winger to
the cookout. Two problems solved. |
