[Realtor urged State to investigate Cay Clubs] In the wake of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s civil fraud charges filed against five Cay Clubs executives last week, one real estate agent near Clearwater says she pleaded with several state agencies — backed with volumes of documentation — for more than five years to investigate the development company to no avail. I thought, till recently, that the behavioral issue of kids standing in the middle of the road, texting, talking, or just blocking traffic, was one of their own making. A recent study shows they get their inspiration and guidance from their great-grandparents living in Venture Out.

[Zaza’s Demise] You can tell from the traffic on US1 that this season is a dud. Two years ago you couldn’t pull out onto the highway because of the traffic, this year it looks like April is here already. A lot of folks have left already. With no season, there is no summer.

Sal and his family have made this an awesome facility with great ambiance and a very unique experience. Yes, they have. Unfortunately, there’s a bunch of cheapos down here right now. They get to Happy Hour 15 minutes early to get “a good seat”, eat and drink until HH ends, leave a crappy tip, and go home.

In 1937 the Japanese soldiers killed 200,000 people in the rape of Nanking. Nasty folks. Although the Japanese soldier did these dirty deeds, the reader must understand that they were trained that way. In basic training they were trained to be, as they said, brutal. They were brutal with one another as a matter of practice to teach them to be brutal to those “weaklings” they captured.

How long is an avocado seed supposed to take to sprout? I’ve had this thing a third of the way in water two weeks now and no sprout. Are all seed nuked these days? Is that why so many people are now gluten intolerant? Is it because wheat seed is genetically interrupted?

A scientist at the US-based Consumers Union criticized the study, saying that the same amount of bacteria could be found in an average bag of salad. Link

[Raccoons] They’ll eat kittens too, and of course cats will kill baby raccoons as well. Nature balances things out as best she can. If you’re intent on lending a hand, do your homework first. Of course, raccoons are quite tasty if you clean them correctly. The “blonde raccoons” (no mask) seem to be limited to the Keys. The first one I saw looked like a cross between a ‘coon and a ‘possum, it took me an hour to do the research and find out what it was.

[Blimp] We do have better radar technology not only in the Keys but on the mainland, they both can “see” over the horizon. An intel picture is always a fusion of multiple sources.

[Raccoons] I see there’s an individual making the case that raccoons are responsible for killing birds. That on the back of blaming cats, snakes, opossums, etc. It also appears that very little valid and reliable research results are presented to substantiate these claims. What has been presented is literature that supports their research. I’ve yet to see reference to all the research results out there that do not support, or are contrary to, their research questions. That in itself leads to highly biased and flawed research outcomes. Unfortunately, cats and raccoons do have to eat, and since our local bureaucrats have outlawed feeding stations, they have to look elsewhere. What I don’t see referenced are the bird losses due to wind turbines (in the millions annually), development, intraspecies predation, and numerous other causes. Let’s have a few facts. So much of this “research” is garbage in, garbage out.

[Dining Out] We had the most perfect night dinning at Little Palm Island. After a welcome cocktail at the shore station we had a lovely boat ride to the island. Our table was on the beach in the sand, the night was bright and warm, the service was great, and the atmosphere superb. A little key deer even tried to snatch the steak from my plate.

The down side to all this luxury was that we did have to pay for it. The check was prohibitively expensive. Our party of four had two bottles of wine, three cocktails, diner, dessert and coffee for a total bill was $940. I sold my youngest child to pay for the night.

[Guidelines to picking up your kids at school]  To be handed out to all parents who dropped off and/or picked up their children from school by car. I honestly believed that the majority of offenders just didn’t know the rules. They could not be that obtuse. They just needed to see the rules in print. That would solve everything! The principal approved it, the PTA President tweaked it, and we have distributed these guidelines ever since. It hasn’t changed a thing:

hugging your child
fixing a ponytail
tying a shoe
watching your child walk into school
hooking or unhooking a car seat
buckling or unbuckling a seatbelt
talking to administration
talking to another parent

[ZaZa demise saga] No way is someone with a half a million or even fifty thousand is going to buy Zaza’s. The only real value that place has is the kitchen and perhaps the 15 year lease, but not worth continuing the failed business to sell them. ZaZa’s is no Sunset Grill instant success story that’s for sure, and everyday they are open is more good money being thrown after bad. The present owners should cut their losses at the end of season, call in a salvage company out of Miami to strip the front of house, take their oven and be done with it.

[FBI questioning Marathon officials] Quotes from the story: A likely line of inquiry — given Schmitt being the impetus — is the former Overseas Liquor & Lounge near mile marker 49 bayside.

Schmitt, a Realtor whose family owns numerous properties and the local Coldwell Banker franchise, has been outspoken in criticizing the city’s efforts to deny a package store there based on a 2007 law that bans liquor sales at businesses within 1,500 feet of a school, church or other establishment selling liquor.

Schmitt believes Marathon Liquor & Deli owner Ralph Lucignano, who sits on the city’s advisory Planning Commission, played a significant role in the 2007 law’s passage.

[Woman Attacked by Raccoons]  A woman walking with her dog  was attacked by a pack of raccoons that jumped on her, bit and scratched her.

The woman  said that  she had been jogging with her dog,  and was walking toward her home when her dog broke free to chase a raccoon. The dog chased the raccoon up a tree. She then went to retrieve the dog.

As soon as she went down to grab the leash, three other raccoons came out of the grass and charged.

The woman was able to run about 75 feet into a neighbor’s yard before the raccoons clawed and bit into her.

They bit her legs, and she also had deep cuts and punctures on her arms.  A neighbor heard her screams and saw three large raccoons attacking her while she was on the ground. He called 911.

The jogger was transported to the emergency room and treated for about 100 wounds, including scratches, scrapes and puncture wounds. There were 16 puncture wounds. One of them required a staple to close. She also has to get rabies shots.

Theres a reason we Moderate Democrats just sit back and let both wings of the Republican party the far right and the extreme right post their little hearts out. The postings and daily rants repeating the same thing over and over and over and over speaks for volumes on its own. Then when you throw in the fact that Far Right heros Sarah Palin and Dick Morris were kicked off of FOX news and Bobby Jindahl called on Republicans to quit being the “stupid” party theres not much for us to say. Its better to have FTR go on as usual because when he does he makes our points for us and even uses facts to prove our point. So sit back and enjoy the crazy right show. Thomas Jefferson said in 1802: “I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our
liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue
of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property – until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”

FROM THE RIGHT

right only grey

an_surgeon2Sequestration is coming. Some welcome it as quick surgery to excise the cancer of profligate Democrat spending.  Painful surgery, then a recovery period, then a healthy body becomes cancer free.  Some say that it certainly will plunge us further into recession.  The current buzz is that sequestration will cut entitlements by only 9%. But the Obama and the Democrats are demanding a huge cut from our military, they demand 13%. We must remember that the military has already had massive cuts over the last few years. Can anyone tell us that there have been any cuts whatsoever in spending on entitlements? I think not.

Obama has abandoned leadership and compromise and is now astride his campaign horse traversing our nation bellowing that the Republicans were the mastermind of sequestration. His battle cry is that the only way to avoid sequestration is to once again raise taxes and further gut our military. It is Obama/Democrat class warfare at its ugliest.  The Democrats refuse to cut entitlement spending.

Obama has taken a decision to hold our national security hostage.  Planet Earth over the last four years has burst in a raging firestorm of Muslim fundamentalism. We now have witnessed the collapse of American influence in the Mid East. In the last 4 years we have witnessed a resurgence of Russian and Chinese anti-American activities. Obama & Clinton’s ludicrously infamous “Reset” has proven to be nothing more than a march back to the Cold War.  In the last 4 years Iran has hugely expanded its brand of Fundamentalism throughout world. In the last 4 years Iran has developed ballistic missile and is now on the cusp of having nukes. In the last 4 years North Korea has made great strides in missile development, and atomic weapon technology. Contrary to Obama’s claim, AQI and its clones are running wild in Africa and the Mid-East.

Mr. Obama’s reaction to that reality has been to cut defense spending. During the first months of his term, Obama targeted our military to suffer 82% of the cuts in his first spending proposal. He proposed to cut only 17% from entitlements. Under the Obama admin, military spending has plummeted, and we’ve grown weaker. If the world were a calm and orderly place, that might be appropriate.  The world is not calm and peaceful.

One must wonder what approach to military spending has been undertaken by Iraq, Russia, and China. Are the increasing their military might? Russia is set to surpass U.S. defense spending — when looked at as a percentage of GDP — in just two years. By the same measure, China is working hard to surpass the US soon thereafter.

In the latest example of cutbacks in the face of more drastic cuts starting next month, the USS Truman — which was slated to deploy Friday to the Persian Gulf — had its deployment canceled this week. The Navy announced that for the first time in two years it cannot afford to have more than one aircraft carrier in the Gulf.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta warned it will get worse if Congress doesn’t find a solution before March 1. “Instead of being a first-rate power in the world, we’d turn into a second-rate power. That would be the result of sequester,” Panetta said.

Apparently that is of little consequence to Obama. Perhaps that is a goal of Obama. Analysis of Obama’s policies and practices present a very strong case that Obama feels that  America is too rich, consumes too many of the world’s resources, is militarily too strong, and has to be reduced to its “proper” place among the eight or so major nations of the world.

Obama knows that if substantial numbers of Americans realize what is happening, he and his will be ridden out of town on a rail.  Perhaps that is why every day, at every whistle stop, and every media interview he insists on claiming that sequestration is a Republican device.  The fact is that the sequestration idea came from the White House.  It’s principle advocate was Obama putative Secretary of the Treasury, Jack Lew. Lew sold the idea first to Harry Reid, and then to John Boehner as a knot cutter in the stalled negotiations surrounding the first of the recent debt ceiling fights.  It is crystal clear that Lew was acting on the command of Obama.

lew10Speaking of Jack Lew: Certainly you will remember that Romney was pilloried for having or having had investments that included Cayman Isles connections.  But that was then and this is now. Lew, has/had substantial investments in a Cayman Isles offshore hedge fund. Have you heard anything about that in the Main Stream Media? Google it for yourself.  President Obama has been obsessively critical of offshore investments, that is for anyone other than he and his.

The long and the short of it is that we must cut our spending, drastically. We should start by drastically curtailing entitlement spending. We should shift entitlement burdens to the States. We must not further emasculate our military.
