[Restaurant Review] My wife and I tried Pop’s Restaurant in Big Pine Key yesterday. It was excellent! We had the rib dinner with the best fried okra ever. The baked beans were extra good and the ribs were tender and tasty. The portions were big enough to fill you up and leave some to take home for later. I talked to two of the owners, they were both friendly and took time to talk with us. The place was spotless including the bathroom. We will be back. |

[Barbie Jeep] Kasper Lincoln, 40, of Prince George, British Columbia, was pulled over around 9 a.m. on Sept. 5 as he piloted a hot pink kids’ Barbie Jeep down a busy road. During the stop, police realized Lincoln had a suspended license, and he tested over the legal limit for alcohol. Lincoln said he really wanted a Slurpee, so he took his girlfriend’s daughter’s car. “I never drove it before,” he said. “I was using the hand signals and everything!” But attorney Kyla Lee said Lincoln’s caper poses “a huge safety risk. Nobody wants to hit somebody in a Barbie car, and drivers aren’t looking for Barbie cars in the roadway.” Lincoln was charged with prohibited driving and DUI. |
Are conspiracy theories America’s biggest export? Mistrust in science has never been higher. Fewer people are getting vaccinated, a known vaccine skeptic is leading the most powerful health agency in America and an outbreak of measles in Texas this year led to the first fatalities in almost a decade. Then, in August, a gunman opened fire on the headquarters of the Centre for Disease Control with many speculating he was fueled by misinformation about health. Increasingly this misinformation is being exported around the world. |
[MRI] If your doctor recommends a MRI, Fisherman’s Hospital in Marathon is an excellent choice. The staff at the reception desk are friendly and help you with your paperwork. The MRI staff are caring and make sure you are comfortable and explain everything in great detail.
As a side note, this hospital is spotless. |

[Cursive] Gen Z is losing the ability to write by hand; handwriting plays a key role in cognitive development. Young people from Generation Z have so integrated the use of keyboards into their daily lives that they find themselves “bewildered” when they have to revert to handwriting. Link |

Sean “Diddy” Combs released an apology letter on Thursday, begging his case’s judge for a light sentence after the court convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
“Today, I humbly ask you for another chance — another chance to be a better father, another chance to be a better son, another chance to be a better leader in my community, and another chance to live a better life,” the note reads. He also apologized to his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, whom cameras caught him beating the living daylights out of in a California hotel in 2016. “The scene and images of me assaulting Cassie play over and over in my head daily,” Diddy said. “I literally lost my mind. I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman that I loved. I’m sorry for that and always will be.”
Combs will receive his sentence today. It could be up to 20 years. |
[Friday Joke] Why did the art thief’s van run out of gas as he drove away from the museum? Because he had no Monet to buy Degas to make the Van Gogh. |
[Fat Generals] “It all starts with physical fitness and appearance. If the secretary of War can do regular hard PT [physical training], so can every member of our joint force. Frankly, it’s tiring to look out at combat formations, or really any formation, and see fat troops,” “Likewise, it’s completely unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals in the halls of the Pentagon and leading commands around the country [and] in the world,” “It’s a bad look. It is bad, and it’s not who we are.” ~ Pete Hegseth Secretary of War |

[“Painted statues receive priest’s blessing”] I didn’t know the new painted deer statues at the park were Catholic? I didn’t know inanimate objects had faith. That’s like people burying their pets who put a cross on the grave. Christian dogs? |

Husband, “Sukitaki. Mojitaka!”
