[Ho Ho Ho] Did somebody say that Ho Chi Minh was in the ‘right’,  meaning that his murder of millions was right to do? Ho imposed communism on the Vietnamese people who were opposed to any system that took their homes and lands away.

First the Chinese took their property away – Then the French took their property away – Then the Japanese took their lands – then the French got it again – but then Ho wanted it and made communism his land grabbing goal instead of democracy.

America did not want any of Vietnam’s land. We wanted Vietnam to be free to choose their own rulers. Nobody in south Vietnam wanted to vote for communists. Read about the communist takeover after world war 2.

Ho won his war because his strategy was that the lives of his Vietnamese army were expendable whereas the loss of life of an American was unbearable to Americans. He had no qualms over sending millions to die. We could not bear our losses so we got out.

When we got out the killing fields took place in Vietnam and Cambodia. Millions more doctors, teachers and a lot of innocent people became fertilizer for the communists. Is that “right”?

[Rumor] I was told today that the Winn Dixie Shopping Center has been sold to a large corporation, they are closing on Sept. 1. Maybe someone with sense will buy that plaza and redo the parking lot for starters.

[Phony Phish] I know, as a matter of fact, of some other restaurant feeding people Asian fish and calling it local seafood. I hope they all get caught and people wake up and boycott these places. I worked in a place that does this, and the reason I was told was because the Asian fish only costs around $2 a pound. And, oh yes, everybody’s an idiot.

[Cloud Storage] The government cannot see what’s on your computer–that’s against the law, but it can see inside your cloud storage with a warrantless search from Homeland Security–that’s legal in our Brave New World!

[“Mini Season Solution”] Let me start by saying that I don’t like zero tolerance laws because they eliminate any chance to use common sense., but enforcement of laws for the lobster mini season has to be stronger.

When I got my fishing license, I signed a pledge that I would obey all fishing laws, and so did everyone else who has a license. If you don’t know the rules, you have no business promising to follow them. That said, here are my suggestions for the mini season.

A TV advertising blitz stating that you will be ticketed if you break the law. I suggest that they feature an FWC officer saying something like “I am not your mother. Your excuses mean nothing to me. I ticket you, and you get to tell your excuse to the Judge” .

A special ” Mini Season Court” like the Spring Break Court in Key West — again heavily advertised.

Change the hours from sunrise until sunset to from sunrise until noon.

Mini season is great fun for (30,000 reported this year) thousands of people who shouldn’t care about these changes at all. It’s also an opportunity for some to pillage the resource out of greed. The first group have to be protected from the second.

[“Ho Chi Minh was Right”] Don’t forget that Americans killed two million Vietnamese. Look in the mirror. We had no business in Vietnam. Ho lived there and did.

planewindow19[Don’t give up the seat!]  As a frequent flier I try to accommodate my fellow travelers whenever feasible.  Recently while traveling from Dallas to Miami I was seated in forward cabin, aisle seat 7D next to a man complaining about his seat (7F). Prior to departure he rang for a flight attendant.  The flight attendant asked me if I would be willing to give up my seat so the man’s wife could sit with him.  I asked politely where she would relocate me and she said that I could trade with his wife in seat at 31F.

I looked at the attendant like she was crazy and said, “You want me to give up my forward cabin, aisle seat to get stuffed into a window seat at the rear of the aircraft?  I don’t think so.  I booked this seat only because first class was full and I’m not going to be shoved into a seat next to the lavatory because someone booked too late to get seating together.  If you want me to move you can move me to the first class cabin.”  She said, “I’m sorry sir, but the first class cabin is full.”  “Yes”, I replied, “I know that because I tried to book a seat there two weeks ago. The answer to your question is no, I won’t give up this seat to be stuffed into one of the least desirable seats on this aircraft.  If the gentleman and his wife couldn’t book their seats together it’s not my problem.”

After some confusion and dirty looks the man was moved to the rear of the aircraft and reunited with his lonely wife (boo hoo hoo)  My new seat companion (who willingly vacated 31F) was most happy to get seating at the front of the cabin away from wifey and cranky child and was delightful conversationalist.  While the one flight attendant had a bit of a stiff attitude towards me, my new seat mate and I enjoyed a few cocktails and the flight to Miami.

Bottom line:  Don’t let other’s poor planning mess up your program!

test tube an[Tube Steak] The first test tube-grown beef will be served in London restaurant this week. A 4-step technique is used to turn stem cells from animal flesh into a burger. First, the stem cells are stripped from the cow’s muscle. Next, they are incubated in a nutrient broth until they multiply many times over, creating a sticky tissue with the consistency of an under-cooked egg. This ‘wasted muscle’ is then bulked up through the laboratory equivalent of exercise – it is anchored to Velcro and stretched. Finally, 3,000 strips of the lab-grown meat are minced, and, along with 200 pieces of lab-grown animal fat, formed into a burger. Yum. I remember when tube steak meant hot dog. Link

Deputies found the bloodied victim inside a friend’s truck  outside the local Tom Thumb convenience store, saying he had “an obviously broken arm” and bloody face.

When ordering “fresh” fish in Florida Keys Restaurants you may be getting frozen fish from all part of the world and not what you think you are getting when ordering fish in the Keys. Always ask your server if the fish they are advertising is caught locally and not frozen. If you feel the fish you are served is tasteless and suspect, you should tell your server that you have been deceived and ask for a refund.

I went to the reef again today because of the fantastic experience I had yesterday and it wasn’t as good. It never is. The sea was lousy the visibility was lousy and a lightening storm was threatening. Those suspended floating things were curled up today and were no longer pointy (I should stay from marine science) and there were no big fish.

We got beat in Vietnam because they wanted it a whole lot more than we did.  Basically they out-died us by a 20 to 1 margin.   We slaughtered them by the thousands with our latest and biggest and deadliest high tech weapons and they kept on coming with just their will, their bodies and some small arms, eventually wearing us down.

[War] When extolling the virtues of Ho Chi Minh, it’s a good idea to keep in mind that millions of Vietnamese people were sacrificed so this “politician” could have victories. Vietnam history also includes 1100 years of domination by Chinese dynasties, the point being that the Vietnamese have a long history of being sacrificed by their leaders.

Politicians passed the Sequester then went on vacation. They thought the Sequester was just for ordinary folks to suffer through. When they arrived at the airport they were met with delays caused by their Sequester and returned to their office where they quickly exempted the airport from their Sequester. Parts of the exemption were written so hastily that they were handwritten on the final bill. Term limits will solve all those problems.

usa-inc52h[Conspiracy Man] This is exactly what needs to be done. But first we need to block, and outlaw any politician from being lobbied by any corporation. A coup d’etat has taken place right under our very noses. Our government is now being completely controlled by big corporations, and these corporations have all politicians, and judges in their pockets. What are you waiting for to make the change? [No Longer Winning] “Ho Chi Minh Beat the USA” But it doesn’t stop there. It used to be when we went to war we won. These days it’s we’ve been there a long time and now it’s time to go so y’all get together and proclaim we won. Won what? The last time we won was on the tiny island of Grenada in 1983. Excuse me but wars used to be fought and won a whole lot differently than they are today.

Today we send our troops overseas to be targets but if they shoot back at the enemy they are charged with racism and imprisoned. It used to be: go to war, kill the enemy, earn the right to come back home. Nowadays the US military has to milk the goats of our enemies and tuck their gun-toting children into bed. Only to be shot by them after the nitey-nite. Our country is on the wrong track.

ss card30On this date in 1965, President Lyndon  B. Johnson signed the Social Security Act, establishing Medicare and Medicaid. The cry from the opposition was exactly the same as it is now for Obamacare. The happy results will be the same. Most Americans don’t know what they would do without Medicare, we’ll be saying the same thing with Obamacare in a few years.

[Fatso] Albert Buitenhuis has been told that he is too fat to live in New Zealand. The South African chef faces deportation, along with his wife Marthie, after his work visa was declined because of his then 130kg weight. Buitenhuis is 5 feet 10 inches tall and has a body mass index of over 40, which is considered medically obese. Immigration authorities said his application for a work visa was rejected because his obesity puts him at ‘significant risk’ of health problems – including diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, obstructive sleep apnoea, some cancers and an enlarged fatty liver – which could end up costing the NZ health service a lot of money.

A tip of the old cap to FTR for commenting on my posting concerning the price of health insurances in Maryland and their reasonable cost for some. He said that for other types and more coverages the price will increase. That’s exactly what I posted. Another poster commented and Im taking the liberty of paraphrasing that it doesn’t matter how much the price of coverages will be because people in their 20s don’t buy health insurance. All I can think to say is I bought it in my 20s.

[Why We Don’t Need Big Government] “2002: Lacking government oversight, Enron rips off ratepayers throughout the West” Hello? Where was the government oversight concerning the billions ripped off by Bernie Madoff especially when the government was told about the Ponzi scheme he was running?

“2008 Lacking government oversight, big banks and wall street brokers drag the USA into a deep recession” Hello? It wasn’t until the Democrats took over two thirds of the government via Congress did they order the FHA to get Freddie and Fannie to buy billions in near worthless sub-prime mortgages from the banks. Heck the banks are the middlemen and have been for quite some time, they wouldn’t issue sub-prime loans they couldn’t dump. The government knows how the financial markets works, they wanted the junk loans and they got them, and because of that, the Federal Reserve had to devalue the currency 3 times to pay for it!

“2010 Lacking government oversight, BP causes a disastrous oil spill decimating America’s Gulf coast.” And how exactly would government oversight make any difference in an accident? I recall the 3 Mile Island having government oversight and they still had an unfortunate accident.

“And what worries Tea Party folks – Save us from Big Government” It worries everybody, because Big Government is responsible for the poor economic mess we are in and near $4 a gallon gas.

It’s the independent Federal Reserve that’s bailing out the boat the Leftists got us into by mucking up the works.

from the right

an_star_flipMy oh my, it’s illuminating just how much affection and respect some of our left fielders have for the Vietnam communist state and the ever jovial Ho Chi Minh.

Yep, I did make a typo when I wrote that nearly 600k Americans had forfeited their lives to try to deliver freedom to Viet Nam.  The actual number is 58,282 KIA, plus 1,645 MIA. Deer Friends that is damned near the 60k I had intended to type. Sorry about the typo!

Then there is the claim from a left fielder that we “invaded” Vietnam. No truth there. We were invited in by the government of South Vietnam.  In July 1950 – United States military involvement in Vietnam begins as President Harry Truman authorizes $15 million in military aid to the French after the departure of the French. Every American president followed suit and increased our involvement. Nixon finally cut the cord. Truman responded to the desires of the S. Vietnamese government who wanted protection from the insanely violent and repressive Ho regime.

Ho’s Viet Cong death squads assassinated at least 37,000 civilians in South Vietnam; the real figure was far higher since the data mostly cover 1967-72. They also waged a mass murder campaign against civilian hamlets and refugee camps; in the peak war years, nearly a third of all civilian deaths were the result of Viet Cong atrocities

A left fielder wrote: “Now under Communism they prosper and are freer than they have been in a century.”  There are a lot of organizations that disagree with that.  One is Human Rights Watch. What follows are just a few quotes from their report: Link

“Rights activists continue to suffer from intrusive police surveillance, interrogation, monetary fines, and restrictions on domestic and international travel. Police use temporary house arrest to prevent them from participating in protests or attending trials of other bloggers and activists. In a number of instances in 2012, unidentified thugs have assaulted dissidents and police have done little or nothing to investigate.”  “Religious groups must register with the government and conduct their operations under the direction of government-controlled management boards.”  “Police brutality, including torture in detention and fatal beatings, continued to be reported in all regions of the country in 2012. At least 15 people died in police custody in the first 9 months of the year, according to state-controlled media”. You really should read the entire 3 pages of the report, it’s a real eye popper. Link

More than 1.2 million Vietnamese fled to avoid the horrors of the Ho regime. Currently there are about 1.8 million Americans of Vietnamese ancestry.

And yet some of our left fielders make it sound like the land of milk and honey. Perhaps because they salivate at the idea of anyone speaking out against our supreme leader should be imprisoned or disappeared.

bread-line30Part 2) According to one poster yesterday “the future looks bright”.  Isn’t that just so special? Perhaps that poster missed the AP report that stated: “Four out of 5 U.S. adults struggle with joblessness, near poverty or reliance on welfare for at least parts of their lives, a sign of deteriorating economic security and an elusive American dream. Survey data exclusive to The Associated Press points to an increasingly globalized U.S. economy, the widening gap between rich and poor and loss of good-paying manufacturing jobs as reasons for the trend.”  “While racial and ethnic minorities are more likely to live in poverty, race disparities in the poverty rate have narrowed substantially since the 1970s, census data show. Economic insecurity among whites also is more pervasive than is shown in government data, engulfing more than 76 percent of white adults by the time they turn 60, according to a new economic gauge being published next year by the Oxford University Press.”  Yessir, Democrat governance is sure doing a wonderful job. Lets all hope that the Obama family enjoys their multi million dollar vacation in Martha’s Vineyard. I’m sure that they are grateful to you for funding it.
