The first clue: There were scattered cars in the lot at 8pm–prime dining time on a busy holiday week. Second clue: the interior was dingy and looked neglected, the chairs were dirty and there was food on the floor. Third clue: our waiter did not greet us, he just stood their like we were a bother and asked for our drink order. He didn’t know what beers they had. The place looked like a greasy spoon and from looking at the few other diners’ plates I could see that everything was deep fried in dirty oil causing the crust to be very dark. We scanned the menu for something not fried and she ordered their Lobster Reuben and me a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich (a big letdown from the Square Grouper’s fare, I tell you!). The Reuben contained an over fried lobster that was tough, stringy and flavorless as if it had been the freezer for a year. Who ever heard of deep fried glop inside a grilled sandwich? She ate half of it and gave up, having had her fill of grease for the year. The dressing was out of a jar.

My Philly Cheese Steak was even worse. The filling appears to have been cooked sometime in the past century. The scant bell pepper slices were soft and mushy and onions were non-existent. The whole pre-cooked mess was placed on a long store-bought roll and low quality mozzarella cheese was placed on top (since when does a Philly Cheese Steak have mozzarella cheese on it) Their biggest crime was instead of heating the sandwich in the oven, the hack in the kitchen nuked it for way too long. Have you ever tried to eat a bun after it’s been in the microwave for over a minute? You can’t eat it as it becomes tough like leather. The surly waiter was busy taking to someone in the kitchen and we had to wait for him to finish before I could get his attention and pay so we could get out the hell out of there. Speaking of kitchen, if you have to go in there for some reason I can’t understand, look at the kitchen door, it is absolutely filthy, completing the total run down look.

The one bright spot in our miserable dining experience was the homemade potato salad. It was delicious. ~b33040@outlook.com

Holmboe said that the E.U. could take no credit for the legalization of gay marriage in the United States, but called it “a very welcome development.” He added, “Once a country has socialism, national health care, and gay marriage, soccer is usually next.” The spokesman offered no timetable for eliminating baseball, but indicated that it was “in the works.”

The law has done much good, but much remains to be accomplished.

On the surface, the Civil Rights Act has certainly transformed American life. We have a Black President. Blacks and whites are more integrated in work and education than ever before. Blacks vote in larger numbers and hold more political offices. They hold private and public sector jobs once dominated by whites. They hold public office in ever growing numbers.

But these successes seem superficial compared to the deep and abiding problems that still afflict the American of African ancestry community. Poverty lingers for generation after generation, it is visible in small pockets in some communities and is as vast as the City of Detroit. Black on Black crime is the scourge of many communities. Blacks are arrested and convicted, and jailed in vastly disproportionate rates to whites. The unemployment rate of Whites dwarfs that of Blacks. About 72% of Black babies are born out of wedlock. Those children, absent a father figure, are much more likely to face poverty and welfare dependence.

In the coming days, there will be much flag-waving and fireworks, much talk of faith and freedom, pride and patriotism. But if this country was conceived in liberty, it was also conceived in slavery. To ignore that fact is not only dishonest, it robs us of the opportunity to heal this country, to make it whole. Our society has a fundamental duty to reform the laws that have created and perpetuated an underclass. The 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act is a good time to think about that. So is the Fourth of July.

Part 2) It is not in the least bit surprising that a poll by Time magazine has just disclosed that Mr. Obama is the least popular President since WW2, 70 years. Today’s headlines reveal just today’s reasons why, and remember that tomorrow is another day: National Review On Line, “HHS Bars Congressman from Seeing Immigrant Children.” ABC NEWS, “Border Patrol union official says influx of migrants threatens agents’ health, national security.”  ABC News, “Southern California town, Murrieta Official Warns Immigration Protests Likely ‘Every Time’ (immigrant) Buses Arrive.” The Center for Disease Control has reported that unbeknownst to the American public, the agency has set up an “emergency operation center” to deal with various diseases accompanying the surge of illegal aliens currently staging a virtually uncontested U.S. invasion. It is reliably reported that a government-contracted security force threatened to arrest doctors and nurses if they divulged any information about the contagion threat at a refugee camp housing illegal alien children at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. The security force proudly calls themselves “Brown Shirts.”

Then we have to consider that the mid-east is in flames, that the forces of jihadism have never been stronger, that a brand new Islamic caliphate has just been established in the dying country of Iraq. Then we have to consider that our economy declined by nearly 3% in just last quarter. Then we have to consider that CNS News is reporting that: “Federal Gov’t Sues Wisconsin Company, Says English-Language Requirement is ‘Discrimination.” AAA reports: “With Independence Day only a few days away, today’s national average price of gas is $3.68 per gallon. This average is considerably more expensive than recent years for the holiday.” And it is more than twice the price of gas when Obama took office.

It is a tragedy that with the 4th of July celebration upon us, that Gallup polling has just revealed that “Americans are feeling less satisfied with the freedom to choose what to do with their lives.”

It is no wonder that a Quinnipiac poll has just revealed that more voters now say GOP nominee Mitt Romney would have been a better choice in 2012 than Obama.

Democrat governance has failed us.
