The President on Cuba: “I think Cuba, in its own way, tourism and everything else, it’s a beautiful island, great weather. They’re not in a hurricane zone, which is nice for a change, you know? They won’t be asking us for money for hurricanes every week.(Since 2000, 11 major hurricanes — Category 3 and above — have crossed over Cuba). This is from a man who thinks he lives in Florida, just 90 miles away. His ignorance never fails. |

| [Computer Art] I’ve been making generative art on and off since 2016. It started as a programming exercise and slowly turned into something more personal as I discovered I can actually express myself visually with it and feel as if I’m producing art. Link |
[Pizza Dough] This is a great recipe when you don’t want to wait for the dough to rise. You just mix it and allow it to rest for 5 minutes and then it’s ready to go! It yields a soft, chewy crust.Ingredients 1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C) 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast 1 teaspoon white sugar 2 ½ cups bread flour 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 teaspoon salt Gather all ingredients. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C), and lightly grease a pizza pan. Place warm water in a bowl; add yeast and sugar. Mix and let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes. Add flour, oil, and salt to the yeast mixture; knead until smooth. You can do this by hand or use a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook to make it easier. Let rest for 5 minutes. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a 12-inch circle. Transfer to the prepared pizza pan. Spread crust with sauce and toppings of your choice. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving. |

| [Cheese soup or Mexican Food] Where in Mexico is the food submerged in melted cheese? The only place I’ve seen that is in American chain restaurants and supermarket frozen food. Granted, Mexicans put cheese on their food, but I’ve never seen it submerged like Chain restaurants do. |
[Influencer Toy] In the 60s and 70s kids wanted to be astronauts when they grew up. Today they want to be influencers. Kids grew up being impressed by influencers on social media. They want to be like them too.“While it may be tempting to dismiss this as simply another example of questionable children’s toys, I think it’s more useful to see it as part of a broader shift in how childhood is being imagined.” Link |

| [War Drones] In Ukraine, a dedicated legion of workers—some of them operating from their own kitchens—are making 4 million drones a year out of imported parts, computer chips, cameras, and explosives. Their interceptor drones are efficiently taking down most incoming Russian drones, while attack drones—flying suicide bombs—have turned the no-man’s-land between front lines into a “kill zone,” where drone operators can spot and obliterate anything that moves. Russia is now losing an unsustainable 30,000 soldiers a month, and drones are responsible for 90% of the carnage. Its tanks are useless. Ukrainians also make long-range drones that are blowing up Russian oil refineries and sea drones that have sunk or damaged 11 Russian warships. Their level of innovation is out of this world. |

| [Development] Florida has approximately 1,300 miles of coastline—many times more, actually, if you count all the bays, barrier islands and inlets. It’s the most in the contiguous 48 states. Only Alaska has more, but let’s face it, it’s not a great place for sunbathing. Historically, preservation of this marvelous asset has taken a back seat to development and tourism. But as Craig Pittman of Florida Phoenix reports, sometimes our state Legislature does things right. Link |

| KW Water Pollution] Last week, the City Commission voted 4-3 to reject testing for cruise ship pollution in Key West Harbor. The cruise industry is a notorious polluter worldwide and the City is required by law to monitor the harbor for pollutants discharged by cruise ships. But the City has refused to test the water since February 2025, when it ordered the College of the Florida Keys to remove its sensors from City property next to the Pier B Cruiseport. Last year’s order to stop testing for pollution followed a report from the College’s chief marine scientist that cruise ships at Pier B had caused 32 violations of state and federal water quality standards. Visible evidence indicates cruise ships have continued to pollute since that time, but the City won’t test the water. |
