[New Home Wanted] I am looking at rehoming our 6-year-old blue pitbull to a great loving home. A good home for someone that either has older kids or no kids, he is fine with them but the little kiddos can get him nervous. He loves walks and car rides, would be a good dog to go all over the place with! (352) 445-3723 Eric

OpenAI, others receive warning letter from dozens of State Attorneys General. They want the companies to “mitigate the harm caused by sycophantic and delusional outputs” from AI products. Link
[Gun Violence Solution: More Guns!] In the wake of the horrific mass shooting at Brown University that left two students dead and nine wounded, Florida leaders have leaped into action to defend us from senseless gun violence on campuses. Bills filed in both the Florida House and Senate would actually loosen a ban on the open carry of firearms on campus, allowing more guns. Link
[War: Soon Come] A JetBlue passenger jet bound for New York took evasive action on Friday to avoid a mid-air collision with a U.S. Air Force tanker plane near Venezuela, a pilot said in an air traffic control recording. JetBlue Flight 1112 had departed the Caribbean nation of Curacao and was flying about 40 miles off the coast of Venezuela when the Airbus A320 reported encountering the Air Force jet, which did not have its transponder activated, according to the recording captured by liveatc.net. The Air Force pilot was within a few miles of the plane and at the same altitude, the JetBlue pilot said on the recording. “They passed directly in our flight path… They don’t have their transponder turned on. It’s outrageous,” the pilot said. The Air Force jet then entered Venezuelan airspace, the JetBlue pilot said. “We almost had a mid-air collision up here.” Link
[Yum] Why some animals eat their babies. Animal filial cannibalism has been documented in fish, insects, even domestic pets. Link
[Charity Scam] Children with cancer scammed out of millions fundraised for their treatment. Khalil – who is pictured in a still from the film – didn’t want to record this, says his mother Aljin. She had been asked to shave his head, and then a film crew hooked him up to a fake drip, and asked his family to pretend it was his birthday. They had given him a script to learn and recite in English. And he didn’t like it, says Aljin, when chopped onions were placed next to him, and menthol put under his eyes, to make him cry. Video

Are Ukrainians born crooks? It seems every time a major hacker or scammer or scamming operation gets busted it’s mostly Ukrainians who are behind the crimes. There’s not much to say about the corrupt government except that if you want anything you have to pay a bribe.
[Perfect Santa Cookies] Approach cookie baking the way you would any experiment: change one variable at a time. Use cake flour instead of all-purpose flour. Substitute brown sugar for white sugar. Add an extra egg.
[Regulation] Historically, we only regulate things following a great disaster or f**k up. I don’t see any regulation of AI to ever happen meaningfully until there is an AI disaster.
[AI Factory Movies] ‘Tis the season. All I can say is thank god my wife and daughter don’t watch this junk.
[Trust No One] We asked our AI risk engine, to scan for browser extensions with the capability to read and exfiltrate conversations from AI chat platforms. We expected to find a handful of obscure extensions-low install counts, sketchy publishers, the usual suspects. The results came back with something else entirely.
Near the top of the list: Urban VPN Proxy. A Chrome extension with over 6 million users. A 4.7-star rating from 58,000 reviews. A “Featured” badge from Google, meaning it had passed manual review and met what Google describes as “a high standard of user experience and design.”
A free VPN promising privacy and security? Exactly the kind of tool someone installs when they want to protect themselves online.

[Concert For One Person] On stage in a beautiful old theater, Bob and his band performed for exactly one person. You can see that person sitting there in the photo up top. The rest of the theater was entirely empty. How did this happen, that Bob Dylan gave a concert for just one guy? And what was this experience like for that guy? I wanted to find out.
This is an email newsletter exploring Bob Dylan performances throughout history. Video
