I saw 5 hawks circling the north end and middle of Big Pine Key. It was impressive seeing so many hawks at one time. I saw them two days in a row but have not seen them since. They must be exhausted from all that mating.
[Crypto For Crooks] The best things crooks love about Crypto is no income tax, no more offshore accounts. And crypto allows kidnappers to get the ransom without revealing themselves. The pickup is where the cops always got their man. Not any more.
[R.I.P.] Jessie Jackson and Robert Duvall are both dead.

Rhode Island Colony had the first Black regiment in the Revolutionary War. Roger Williams the founder of R.I. believed all men were equal including Indians and Negroes, so the Colony was already predisposed towards blacks and Indians. (The Puritans in the name of God shunned Williams and forced him and his supporters to move from Massachusetts and start a new colony because of this liberal belief).

The 1st Rhode Island Regiment, widely regarded as the first Black battalion in U.S. military history, originated, in part, from George Washington’s desperation. In late 1777 during the American Revolution, the Continental Army, led by General Washington, faced severe troop shortages in its war with the British. “No less than 2,898 men now in camp [are] unfit because they are barefoot and otherwise naked,” Washington wrote to Congress, begging for material support. Disease claimed nearly 2,000 soldiers during the army’s winter encampment at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. Enough white men couldn’t be persuaded to enlist.

The sudden closure of El Paso’s airspace Wednesday came sometime after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials used an anti-drone laser that was provided by the military to shoot down objects that were later identified as party balloons. Sleep tight America – your U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency and Military is awake. Link
[Fodder] 10 million civilians and military died in the first World War. How can man keep starting wars?
[By the hair on my chinny chin chin..] Humans really don’t need chins, even though some people have two. Homo sapiens are the only primates that have them, but they don’t make us special.

Napoleon got fired from his second term as emperor because the people realized that as soon as he was done with one war he’d start another. It was never ending and France was broke from his constant wars. After a year in Egypt with little progress he got word that Paris was in turmoil and broke and ready to revolt. That’s why he left his army in Egypt and went back to Paris where he ruled for a while until the people exiled him. He was never satisfied unless he was planning war. He could not relax.
[Movies] The cartel’s henchmen hanged 3 guys from spinning ceiling fans. I’m not buying it. A ceiling fan is attached to the electrical box with 2 1/8” diameter screws and those 2 screws would not hold up a 200 pound man spinning. Someone should send this stunt to MythBusters Gor further examination.

[Words of Wisdom] The mayor of the little redneck city I live in said, “100 years from now, most of our residents will be deceased.”
Monday was Presidents Day, a time for all of us in the Sunshine State to celebrate the great men and women from Florida who have been elected commander-in-chief. It will be a short celebration, measured in nanoseconds. Why? Because a president has never been born here. In fact, Florida is the largest state in America to never have been a presidential birthplace. Which is weird, at first glance, since Florida is the third-largest state in the country in terms of population. Only California and Texas are bigger.
[Book Review] The Friend Of The Family by Dean Koontz. Very good book about everything from a carnival side show, circus freaks, family, greed, love, and a rarity – a happy ending. Usually he writes on the edge of scary, this book was no exception, but it was more the situations than the supernatural so instead of horror the reader has hope. Link
[“Pickleball fight”] If we can’t even agree on the rules for this fun and silly game, how are we ever to agree on anything important.
