[Cheap Beer] Empty strip clubs and cheap beer signal economic trouble. You’ve felt it too—that creeping unease when your grocery bill doubles while your paycheck stays flat. The strange hollowness in usually bustling bars on Friday nights. Economists may debate technical definitions, but the truth lives in these everyday spaces where people vote with their wallets. When even “recession-proof” industries like adult entertainment and alcohol start bleeding, it’s time to pay attention. Link
[Amazon Web Services Broke] Today is when the Amazon brain drain finally sent AWS down the spout. When your best engineers log off for good, don’t be surprised when the cloud forgets how DNS works. “It’s always DNS” is a long-standing sysadmin saw, and with good reason: a disproportionate number of outages are at their heart DNS (Domain Name System) issues. And so today, as AWS is still repairing its downed cloud, it becomes clear that the culprit is once again DNS. But if you or I know this, AWS certainly does. Link

[Grass] What happens to our bodies when we touch grass. One intriguing experiment that started me on this journey of questioning whether touching plants has an impact on our physical and mental well-being was one in which participants sat in a clinical environment with their eyes closed and were asked to touch four different materials: a leaf of a living pothos plant (devil’s ivy); an artificial pothos leaf made from resin; a piece of soft fabric; and a metal plate.. [Your Voice] Why do people hate the sound of their own voice? It’s odd to find your voice unpleasant when it’s an extension of yourself. Research scientists who have investigated this phenomenon believe the reason someone may dislike how they sound is a combination of the physiology behind how our voice is perceived in our hearing organs and psychological and social pressures associated with how someone speaks. [Methamphetamine Beer] A young New Zealand man died in agony after drinking an imported can of Canadian Honey Bear Beer that had been filled with methamphetamine. Aiden Sagala, 21, was unknowingly gifted a case of liquid narcotics disguised as beer from his boss. After he got home from work, Sagala and his brother-in-law decided to crack open two of the cans. Sagala knew something was wrong after his first sip of the beer, which reportedly tasted like ‘sea salt with chemicals.’ Link
[Key Largo Shark Bite] the 8-year-old boy was snorkeling on Horseshoe Reef when he was bitten. Medics applied two tourniquets and bandaged his wounds to control the bleeding. Link
Tesla’s ‘Full Self-Driving Supervised’ expansion is back firing as it exposes its shortcomings. Customers left without promised features are growing discontent and demanding to be compensated. It’s turning into a multi-billion-dollar iceberg of Tesla’s own making. In 2016, Tesla proudly announced that all its vehicles produced onward are equipped with “all the hardware for full self-driving,” which would be delivered through future software updates. Link

[Cancer Blood Test] A blood test for more than 50 types of cancer could help speed up diagnosis, according to a new study. Results of a trial in North America show that the test was able to identify a wide range of cancers, of which three-quarters don’t have any form of screening program. More than half the cancers were detected at an early stage, where they are easier to treat and potentially curable. Link
