[The Wild West] The First District Court of Appeal issued its ruling in a case stemming from the July 4, 2022, arrest of a man who stood at a major intersection in downtown Pensacola carrying a visible, holstered pistol and a copy of the U.S. Constitution.

The decision by a three-judge panel reverses the conviction of Stanley McDaniels in Escambia County in the Florida panhandle. It also vacates his sentence, finding that the state has failed to show that the law is consistent with the country’s “historical tradition of firearm regulation.”

“No historical tradition supports Florida’s Open Carry Ban. To the contrary, history confirms that the right to bear arms in public necessarily includes the right to do so openly,” Judge Stephanie Ray wrote in an opinion, joined by Judges Lori Rowe and M. Kemmerly Thomas.

“That is not to say that open carry is absolute or immune from reasonable regulation,” the opinion continued. “But what the State may not do is extinguish the right altogether for ordinary, law-abiding, adult citizens.”

[New Yacht Capsizes] Hopes were dashed into the sweet winds on Oct. 2 as the Dolce Vento was launched into the water off the coast of Zonguldak, Turkey. The $1 million, 85-foot yacht slipped into the water and almost immediately started listing to its port side before sinking. The new owner, captain and two crew members were able to jump overboard and swim to the nearby shore without injury. Shipyard officials said the cause of the sinking was under investigation. Video
Deer Ed,
In the very first post on Friday, there seemed to be an addition about supporting Turning Point. Was this by dear ed?

Make no mistake, there are many who are fiercely anti religion.  In their ranks are those who claim that religion has been “responsible” for millions of deaths, they claim that history supports that claim by reciting deaths caused by various political entities. The reality is that every such conflict is waged for the purpose of gaining political power.  The Nazis, seeking an entity for the population to despise,  chose the Jews to blame for all the fiscal woes of post WW1 Germany.  If anything,  the Nazis were anti religion, they executed Catholics, Jews, Muslims, etc. Hitler was deeply anti religion of any stripe, he held a pantheistic belief in nature.  His decision to demonize and persecute ethnic and religious persons was a political decision.

The Crusades were a series of conflicts waged for political gain,  The church and the monarchy wanted to eliminate the growing influence of the various Muslim controlled nations.  Religion was but a tool used, and a propaganda ploy,  to gin up support for the conflicts.

At the core of each and every conflict that has been labeled as a “religious war” is the entirely political motivation of humans to gain power or advantage over other humans.

[“Religion has been ‘responsible’ for millions of deaths”] The poster who denies that the Crusaders with the big red cross on their chests and on their ship’s sails and the conquistadores with the big red cross on everything and planting crosses in every place they went and forcing the natives to convert under pain of death, weren’t acting in the name of God? It’s hard to discuss history with a person who has not read it or understood it. Denying a fact doesn’t make it go away. That only happens in politics not history.
[Hot Water] The ocean heat content (OHC) in the Gulf of Mexico has reached a record high in 2025, indicating a substantial amount of heat stored in the water, which can significantly impact tropical systems and weather patterns by fueling storm intensification. This record OHC is primarily a result of the ocean absorbing the vast majority of excess heat from human-caused greenhouse gas emissions. The record heat poses a concern for rapid intensification of hurricanes, although current high wind shear is currently hindering tropical storm formation.

[Diving Death] Around 1:30 p.m., Cameron Isaiah Queen dove off a hookah rig off Grassy Key, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. He was swimming back to his boat when he went underwater. Foul play isn’t suspected, deputies said. A hookah rig is typically a tankless system with air pumped from a surface compressor through hoses to divers below the water’s surface.
