[Coral] I love seeing posts about coral aquaculture. Coral aquaculture is exactly where the industry needs to go. It takes pressure off wild reefs and still lets people enjoy the hobby responsibly. I run a small setup here in the Middle Keys & mostly focus on propagation and keeping things sustainable at a local level. It’s a slower process but way more responsible long term |
| (Editor: The internet is down so I’m using my phone as a hotspot. If The CT is late, that’s why. Damn Comcast.) P.S. It took 117.15 MB to publish today for those of you who know about that stuff. |
The Big Pine Book Club’s Mystery play was a success and enjoyed by all. Here’s a picture of the cast with the play’s author Lucy Burdette (second from left). |
| [Beware] I received an unsolicited offer by mail for a property that we didn’t want to sell for a few years. We don’t know how they got that address, but we think it’s Google listening to us because two days before receiving the offer we did speak of selling that property. My spouse thinks it’s, what she jokingly calls the ‘Vortex’, but what I seriously call ‘Google’. I think they listen through all the microphones in our devices that are always listening. I even suspect that they watch us too. I cover all cameras with black tape. I didn’t trust the offer to buy, so I asked them to communicate by email. They refused. When someone refuses to communicate by email it’s because they want a salesman to convince you of something you don’t want convincing of. If they were legit, they would have at least asked a few questions in an email while trying to get me to listen to their salesmen. Scammers just want to talk you into something, that’s why they need the phone. They are professional con men and better at it than us, so never talk before substantial contact by email. Not text because they will bombard you with them. |

President Trump’s unpopular “Trumphal Arch” would be taller than both the US Capitol building and the Lincoln Memorial. It looks like Paris’s Arc de Triomphe with a bunch of garish gold doodads glued on. Not very American-looking at all. ‘Garish’ comes to mind. |
| [Friday Joke] Wife: “I can’t believe the things you do! Would your 15 year-old self be proud of you?” Me: “My 15 year-old self wouldn’t believe I’m still alive.” |
[Really Good Painting Tips] I’ve been a house painter for many years and most of these tips are new to me and really helpful time and mess savers. Video |
| [Pope Vs Saint Donald] Maybe put the crucifixion on pay per view, along with a wrestling event. |
Why do dogs tilt their heads? It isn’t just cute. It’s all about being able to listen and process information better. Link |
| [Arc ‘d Trump] Trump’s new arc looks like as if he’s truing to emulate Imperial Russia. |
I don’t want to ‘take’ Cuba. I want to use our great power of persuasion and the mighty American dollar to convince them to let us help recover their disaster of a nation from the downward spiral that is Cuba. |
| [Going Down] Private equity fund slashes Red lobster equity value by 98%. IMF flags economy downturn risk if war lasts. TCW Group has marked down its equity stake in Red Lobster by roughly 98% since acquiring it via the restaurant’s 2024 bankruptcy, leaving shares held by a private credit fund it oversees now worth less than $1 million. |
The scariest bridge in America is in Texas and is like riding the big hump on a roller coaster. Video |
| [Florida Medical Equipment Fraud] How a durable medical equipment fraud ring took over an entire florida hotel. A single hotel in South Florida where every one of its 129 rooms was registered as a separate durable medical equipment company. None of them sold anything. They just had lists of patients – real Medicare beneficiaries – and billed the federal government for wheelchairs and knee braces that never left a warehouse, because there was no warehouse. Link |
[Reeces Messed With Peanut Butter Cups] Candy now tastes different. It’s not just you. From recipe changes to aging taste buds, here’s why those peanut butter cups don’t hit like they used to. Brad Reese, grandson of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups inventor H.B. Reese, caused a stir this year with his claims that The Hershey Company had changed his grandfather’s recipes beyond recognition. | [KW Strip Club Rape] Security-camera video captures the chilling attack Tuesday night by a hockey mask-wearing, shirtless Tennessee man on a woman who works at a Key West strip club. Video |
[The 8 Crusades] If my memory, or what’s left of it, is correct the Crusades had nothing to do with Jesus. They were started by Pope Urban in 1098 or somewhere abouts. He got tired of all the local warlords fighting amongst themselves in Europe. Can’t remember when or where but pieces of red cloth were cut into the shape of the cross and some factions sewed them on their clothes and so it began. The pope told them all their sins would be forgiven if they went to the holy land to fight the infidel. It was the Mother/Son religion not the Christian church that started it. Check out movie “The Kingdom Of Heaven” by Ridley Scott. There is also a book by the same name that is historically correct, interesting read. Ridley has most of the facts straight, some not. Deus le volt [spelling?] “God wills it!” the cry of the Crusaders. |
| [Condolences] When someone dies, don’t send them a text or email. Mail a brief handwritten note. Don’t be insensitive. |
[Eden Pines Boat Ramp] Good: One of the best ramps in the Keys. Good: good sightseeing until channel. Bad: no parking for truck or trailer anywhere. Bad: 1/2 hour of no wake zone to channel |
| [Friday Joke] Three nurses died and went to heaven, where they were met at the Pearly Gates by St. Peter. To the first, he asked, “What did you do on Earth and why should you go to heaven?” “I was a nurse in an inner-city hospital,” she replied. “Very noble,” said St. Peter. “You may enter.” To the next, he asked the same question: “So what did you do on Earth?” “I was a nurse at a missionary hospital in Africa,” she replied. “How touching,” said St. Peter. “You, too, may enter.” He then came to the last nurse, to whom he asked, “So, what did you do back on Earth?” After some hesitation, she explained, “I was just a nurse at an HMO.” St. Peter pondered this for a moment, and then said, “Okay, you may enter also.” “Whew!” said the nurse. “For a moment there, I thought you weren’t going to let me in.” “Oh, you can come in,” said St. Peter, “but you can only stay for three days.” |
[Found Cat] Spotted a kitten in the vicinity of the Moose Lodge on Lyttons Way on BPK. Keep an eye out. Please contact us at 305-942-1553. |
