Big Sister’s Banana Bread

Preheat oven to 325°

1/2 stick of butter, melted
1 cup sugar
3 bananas, very ripe and mashed. About 3/4 cup. (sometimes I add a chopped apple if I don’t have enough bananas)
3/4 cup All purpose flour
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg, beaten
1/2 to 1 cup chopped walnuts

Cream butter together with sugar. Add other ingredients. Bake 1 hour until toothpick inserted in center comes out dry. Let cool 10 minutes before slicing.

When still hot I sometimes top it with butter and cinnamon sugar, particularly if I added apples.
