Edwin Starr – War (What is it good for) |
| [Sneaky] I wonder how much of what we cut and paste and pass on to our friends as truth is really from foreign powers, bad actors, or companies badmouthing competition. |
Neil Sedaka has died at the age of 86. Sedaka first enjoyed success in the 1950s and 1960s with hits like “Oh! Carol,” “Calendar Girl” and “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen.” He had a career revival in the 1970s, and was also a prolific songwriter, composing hits for other performers, like “Stupid Cupid” and “Love Will Keep Us Together.” Link |

| [Least Competent Criminal] A 25-year-old man in Philipsburg, Montana, drove to the Granite County Courthouse to pay a fine he had received for open container. While he waited, Sheriff Rico Barkell observed that he appeared to be intoxicated. He asked if the man had driven to the courthouse, to which he answered, yes. Then he admitted he had had two drinks and smoked two bowls of marijuana. A breath test confirmed the sheriff’s suspicions, with the man’s blood alcohol at three times the legal limit. He also had an open container in his car. He was charged with aggravated DUI and open container. The sheriff’s office posted about the incident on its Facebook page, summarizing with “Stupidity is not an excuse! |

| Monroe County Republican Club members and guests, Sheriff Rick Ramsay will be joining us Wednesday evening. My guess is that he may have some current guidance based on events in the Middle East. That’s a guess, we’ll find out Wednesday. Also, there will be two candidates for County Judge Group 2, Keven McCarthy and David Van Loon. Each will take a couple of minutes to introduce themselves. Questions are problematic because of restrictive laws about what they can say in a group setting, so there will not be a group Q & A. You may ask questions later or privately, on an individual basis. 5:30PM Social, 6PM Meeting starts, 4115 Overseas Hwy. Looking forward to seeing you Wednesday. Questions or comments, call or email Dale Schumacher. |
[Rip-offs] I called one of those ‘remodel your bath in one day’ companies from Miami and what they offer is expensive junk. They wanted $15,000 to glue a thin veneer of some kind of plastic on to my shower. I was shocked at the cheap material and price, so I hired a tile company to completely remodel and ceramic tile the new shower for $12,000. |

| We had an AirBnB on Big Pine Key. When they outlawed AirBnB we kept renting, got caught and had to pay a $3000 fine. The caught us when we replied to an email like the one below. I should have know it was a sting because they didn’t use AirBnB’s mail service. I suppose the investigation is paid for by the lodging industry or the County. I think the County first paid for these emails to trap hosts into admitting they were renting when they shouldn’t. I disagree, there’s nothing wrong with AirBnB unless you are a hotel. Why isn’t AirBnB allowed? –follow the money.
