|[All Electric?] Imagine Florida with a hurricane coming toward Miami. The Governor orders an evacuation. All cars head north. They all need to be charged in Jacksonville. How does that work? Has anyone thought about this? If all cars were electric, and were caught up in a three-hour traffic jam with dead batteries, then what? Not to mention that there is virtually no heating or air conditioning in an electric vehicle because of high battery consumption.
If you get stuck on the road all night, no battery, no heating, no windshield wipers, no radio, no GPS (all these drain the batteries), all you can do is try calling 911 to take women and children to safety. But they cannot come to help you because all roads are blocked, and they will probably require all police cars will be electric also. When the roads become unblocked no one can move! Their batteries are dead.
How do you charge the thousands of cars in the traffic jam? Same problem during summer vacation departures with miles of traffic jams. There would be virtually no air conditioning in an electric vehicle. It would drain the batteries quickly. Where is this electricity going to come from? Today’s grid barely handles users’ needs. Can’t use nuclear, natural gas is quickly running out. Oil fired is out of the question, then where?
|It’s pretty sad that the Tuesday Big Pine Key Coconut Telegraph posted that Dr. Bruce Boros has Covid and is a jerk. The link posted was from November 25, Thanksgiving Day. It was written by Howard Cohen, implying that Dr. Boros deserved to get Covid.
On Sunday, November 28, my friend Sherrie, who is a patient of Dr. Boros, talked with him on the phone. Dr. Boros was most frustrated by the reports that he was terribly sick, when in fact he did not ever go to the hospital for the illness. He treated himself at home, and was doing fine.
|The spread of COVID was directly linked to how dense the population is. And some of the population are really quite f**king dense! ~Jimmy Carr, comedian
|“I didn’t pull the trigger” Alec Baldwin is spreading the Big Lie Hollywood version that he didn’t pull the trigger. It just went off when he released the hammer. BS. Remember that Mr Baldwin is an actor and a very good one. He also said he’s never point a gun at anyone. That’s pretty hard not to do in an action cowboy movie.
|[Wisteria Island Park Proposal] Locals fear for Christmas Tree Island knowing the junta will destroy it with profit making development of junk low rent housing and cheap tourist shops, docks and debris. It is the way of the New World Keys!
[No Fart Thursdays] Did you know that there is an old law, still on the books in Florida? It says it is illegal to fart in public after 6pm on Thursdays. So if you are not in control, go home by 6 o’clock on Thursday. The other 6 days you can let it rip.
|[The greatest innovations of 2021] Grand Award Winner: The MacBook’s back, baby. M1 chip by Apple. Apple’s M1 chip has a total of 16 billion transistors onboard. Remember when transistor radios bragged about having 9 transistors! Link
[Keys Disease] I called every contractor in the Keys to get work done on my property, and not one returned my calls. Doesn’t anyone work down here anymore?
|The parents of the 15-year old mass murderer are being charged for letting him have a gun.
Will Key West ever have a real Cruise Port instead of just an overnight stop and go?
|Is it true that they plan to build 30 instant homes on Cudjoe Key for low income renters? Aren’t they just building these squished-together homes to attract more poor people to the Keys.
|The downside of electric vehicles. Reality check. This is the elephant in the room with electric vehicles. Our residential infrastructure cannot bear the load. A home charging system for a Tesla requires 75 amp service. The average house is equipped with 100 amp service. On our small street (approximately 25 homes), the electrical infrastructure would be unable to carry more than three houses with a single Tesla each. Link

[One of Life’s Mysteries] Beer makes you feel the way you ought to feel without beer.
|[Same Logic] The trouble with conspiracy theories is that a lack of evidence is not taken as proof it’s not real, but instead as proof the conspiracy is indeed everywhere. This is like thinking that the reason you never see elephants hiding up in treetops is because they’re good at it.
|[Friday Joke] A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, watching his wife, who was looking at herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off, he asked what she’d like as a gift. “I’d like to be eight again,” she replied, still looking in the mirror.
On the morning of her birthday, he rose early, made her a nice big bowl of Coco Pops, and then took her to Adventure World theme park. What a day! He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, the Screaming Roller Coaster, everything there was.
Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down. He then took her to a McDonald’s where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake.
Then it was off to a movie, with popcorn, a soda pop, and her favorite candy, M&Ms. What a fabulous adventure!
Finally, she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed, exhausted.
He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, “Well dear, what was it like being eight again?”
Her eyes slowly opened, and her expression suddenly changed.
“I meant my dress size, you idiot!”The moral of the story: Even when a man is listening, he is going to get it wrong.
|[Who Really Cares] Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.
Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.
Name the last decade’s worth of World Series winners.How did you do? The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by people like me,
But only God can make a tree
~By Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918)
|If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power. ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower, March 6, 1956
[Ship Spotter] I have been tracking my friend Lin’s ship in the Caribbean. I never imagined there were so many ships at sea at the same time. It looks like a traffic jam. This map shows cruise ships, tankers , freighters , personal craft, fishers, yachts, all color coded. No kayaks, unless they have electronics aboard.
|[How To Tell If Your Phone Is Tapped] Knowing whether your cell phone is tapped might seem a bit paranoid as you saw in a movie, but in fact, it is a very serious problem. In light of the growing suspicion of illegal wiretapping in the past few years, should not be neglected. So please ignore your phone and do not check if the phone is traced. Link
|[Your Vote Does Not Count] The people of KW overwhelmingly voted “no cruise ships” to exercise local control over the powerful cruise ship industry. that vote was overridden by governor DeSantis. Think before you vote for a corporate lapdog.
|[Dead Batteries] What will be done with billions of dead batteries, can’t bury them in the soil, can’t go to landfills, cant burn them. At this stage of battery development, lithium-ion batteries (the kind of battery used in all electric vehicles and tools) are not recyclable. The cart is way ahead of the horse. No thought whatsoever to handle any of the problems that batteries can cause. In France, thousands of taxis are now stored as inoperable because the batteries are dead and to replace them would cost more than the value of the vehicle itself.
|[Friday Joke] A customer walked into my clothing shop and asked to see the pants that were advertised in the paper that day. “We don’t have an ad in the paper today,” I told her. She insisted I was wrong, so I got a copy of the paper, and we went through it, eventually landing on an ad for pants from another local store. Exasperated, the customer glared at me and said, “In my newspaper, the ad was for this store!”
