[Construction in the Heat] In Florida, the heat can kill. But there are no laws to protect its many outdoor workers. Even as a growing body of research shows the lasting and sometimes fatal impacts of extreme heat, efforts to ask employers to provide even the most basic protections have failed at every level — federal, state and local, year after year. [Twilight Zone] This morning my phone alarm and my bedside clock both alarmed at 6am. Neither one was set for 6am and no alarms were set on either device. The phone nor the clock had Bluetooth turned on and the clock has no wi-fi or Bluetooth.
[Two-Faced] The Southern Baptists have come to my Methodist church and are bullying the elderly into disaffiliating from the UMC so that they can get the property for 1/1000th its current value and I have prayed all over it.

[Trans] The new remake of the movie  An Officer And A Gentleman looks terrible.

[The Biggest Scam In Life] Paying taxes on money you make, taxes on money you spend, and taxes on things you own, that you already paid taxes on, with already taxed money?

“I couldn’t help but notice you’ve been eating way too much, drinking way too much, and not exercising at all.” said my pants this morning.

[The Past] Do you think it’s possible to ever see the past as it actually was?  Do we overlay the present onto the past? We look back through the lens of what we know now, so we’re not seeing it as the people we were then, we’re seeing it as the people we are now, and the past has been radically altered.
[Friday Joke] People on TV’s House Hunters are always saying that they need room to entertain and guest bedrooms so family can visit. I need a moot filled with gators!
[Risky Space Flight Again] Virgin Galactic has a launch date for its first paying space tourists. The company’s climb to space tourism has been a nearly 20-year-long journey. Delays and a fatal in-flight accident stalled progress. Although Branson flew aboard SpaceShip Two in July 2021, Virgin Galactic hasn’t yet had a commercial flight.  Their stock price has tanked to a low of $4.34 since their last failure. I do not have high hopes for Virgin Galactic’s long-term stability due to their excruciatingly slow pace to become operational, their high company expenses, and their mixed safety track record,” says Laura Forczyk, a space industry analyst and founder of the consultancy company Astralytical. “I don’t think that their revenues are going to be able to catch up with their expenses unless there is a significant change in operations.”
This is the famous 7 mile tree that grows on the old 7 Mile Bridge and this is an old picture. Now it’s got a smaller partner growing beside it if you make a trip to Key West from Marathon you won’t miss it. Those in the tourist industry are trying to give it a human name so tourists can point to the tree and think how retarded we are to name a tree after a person. To give an inanimate object a human’s name is definitely retarded. Let’s just continue to call it the 7 Mile Tree like sane people would.
[Sick Society] Online hate and harassment continue to rise. Adults and teens are getting harassed more than ever. Link

[Personal Luxury Submarines] Just don’t go too deep. Link

Be cautious with fireworks. Your safest bet? Attend a professional fireworks show like that of the big July 3d Celebration at Big Pine Park. But if you must shoot them off at home, follow guidelines, keep a safe distance, and never let young children handle fireworks. Link
[Yachtsman] Keys realtor moguls Bruce Schmidt and DD Holland will be taking a round-the-world sailing trip shortly and Bruce Schmidt has a submarine on his new yacht.  I wonder how thrilled he is now that the Titanic submarine crew were killed in a catastrophic implosion
[Sexist Holys] The Southern Baptist had a convention earlier this month where they expelled woman from any meaningful positions in their church like Minister or Bishop. Then in the next breath, they said that they treat all woman as equals. I wonder if they ever listen to themselves.

[Friday Joke] During my check-up I asked the Doctor, “Do you think I’ll live a long and healthy life then?”
He replied, “I doubt it somehow. Mercury is in Uranus right now.”
I said, “I don’t go in for any of that astrology nonsense.”
He replied, “Neither do I. My thermometer just broke.”

This is a swell idea for a cat box. Just cut a hole in a storage container.

[Myopic] In my youth, for years, I never saw anything except through my camera’s lens. What a waste of experiences that was. When I finally had enough, I was relieved. The youth of today remind me of that period except that they are seeing everything through their phone’s video lens. They record everything and see nothing. They only worry how it will look and impress others.

Guess what’s different about this frozen TV dinner? It’s made entirely of ice cream.
