[Bogus Gas Discount Ad] Discount Scam] I received a coupon in the mail that said 15 cents off gas until Oct. 24 at the 11100 OS Hwy grand opening. It was a Circle K at 11140 OS Hwy and I was charged the full $3.23/gal. shown on the gas pump. I had the coupon and I paid cash but got no discount. It wasn’t even the $3.13 price shown on the big lit-up sign on the Highway.  Both cashiers could speak some English, but not enough to communicate in sentences.
[R.I.P.] Big Piner, Dan Raven, passed away on September 25th at Baptist Hospital in Kendall. Condolences to his lovely wife Thresa.

The wife and I watched “Titanic” again last night. She thinks it’s great but if you break it down it’s nothing more than an old lady telling a long-ass story about some great sex she had in her youth on her cruise.

[“Bigotry post”] Dear Mr./Mrs./Ms 13%,
I personally am sad that you have a heart and a soul so full of hatred. The Florida Keys is my happy place, and your expressions about those different than you are cramping my enjoyment here.  Is it possible that in your early years you were among those that think the same way? If so, I truly hope you can find a way to overcome the environment that shaped your feelings. I’m happy to see others responding that don’t share your perspectives.
Here’s hoping you can find joy in things that don’t offend others.
Wage peace on Earth not war.

[Bigfoot Spotted Again] A Cheyenne couple says they spotted Bigfoot while on a train ride in Colorado over the weekend. The video, of course, has gone viral and the media has gone bonkers over it. Link

Israel told Gaza people to evacuate to the south. If a pissed-off Israel told me to move, I sure would! What are they going to do, flatten the north and then tell the residents to evacuate north and then level the south? Video
Miss Portugal is actually a 28 year-old man. In October 2022, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) was purchased for $20 million by Thai media mogul Anne Jakkapong Jakrajutatip, who is also a transgender woman, making Jakrajutatip the first transgender owner of the competition. Cellular service in the Florida Keys was interrupted and unavailable to many customers Thursday afternoon due to a cut fiber line, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The agency said in an online alert that data could also be impacted. The alert went out shortly before 3 p.m., and said crews are working to fix the problem.
[Titanic Submarine] What the US Coast Guard found on their last OceanGate Titan salvage mission. The 22-foot-long vessel suffered an implosion en route to the Titanic in June.
Submersible experts had warned of such “catastrophic” issues within Titan’s design for years, and repeatedly raised concerns about OceanGate’s disregard of standard certification processes. In a March 2018 open letter to the company obtained by The New York Times, over three dozen industry experts, oceanographers, and explorers “expressed unanimous concern” about the submersible’s “experimental” approach they believed “could result in negative outcomes (from minor to catastrophic) that would have serious consequences for everyone in the industry.” Link

[Keys Unite Against Court Consolidation] It’s a bad idea to consolidate Monroe County’s Circuit Court with that of Miami-Dade. For starters, consolidation would mean Monroe voters’ choices for officials, including the local state attorney, public defender and judges, would compete with voters in Miami. We would lose a lot of access for justice for all of our residents if we were consolidated with the biggest circuit in the state. Our votes would not stand a chance with the 2.7 million voters in Miami.
Send an e-mail right now to Kathleen Passidomo at:  https://www.flsenate.gov/Offices/President > below her photo click ‘Email this Office’
Ask her: Please do NOT consolidate Monroe County with Miami-Dade’s Circuit Court.
We would lose a lot of access for justice for all of our residents if we were consolidated with the biggest circuit in the state.
Driving three hours to serve on jury duty is not reasonable.

Did you know Wi‑Fi doesn’t actually stand for anything? Many folks think it means “Wireless Fidelity,” but that’s a myth. The name was coined as a catchier alternative to this technical mouthful: “IEEE 802.11b Direct Sequence.”
[Friday Joke] When NASA was preparing for the Apollo project, some of the training of the astronauts took place on a Navajo reservation. One day, a Navajo elder and his son were herding sheep and came across the space crew. The old man, who spoke only Navajo, asked a question that his son translated. “What are these guys in the big suits doing?” A member of the crew said they were practicing for their trip to the moon. The old man got all excited and asked if he could send a message to the moon with the astronauts. Recognizing a promotional opportunity, the NASA folks found a tape recorder. After the old man recorded his message, they asked his son to translate it. He refused. The NASA PR people brought the tape to the reservation, where the rest of the tribe listened and laughed, but refused to translate the elder’s message. Finally, the NASA crew called in an official government translator. His translation of the old man’s message was: “Watch out for these guys; they have come to steal your land.”
