 [“John Mayall dead”] He was one of my favorite bluesmen. I saw him at the Palm Springs Pot (it was supposed to be ‘Pop’ festival but someone climbed the drive-in’s sign and changed it) Festival with Timothy Leary and others. It’s said that most band members quit because he was so strict and worked them to the bone.I also saw him on Venice Beach, CA when the police shut him down and physically removed him from the stage while he resisted—he was very pissed.  Two meteor showers will flash across the sky around the same time in late July. the Southern Delta Aquariid Meteor Shower peaks in late July, and this year, it will coincide with a second smaller meteor shower, the Alpha Capricornids. Link |
| A snorkeler was seriously injured after being struck by a 19-foot Stratos boat in the Florida Keys Wednesday morning, the first day of the lobster miniseason. The incident occurred around 8 a.m. off Big Coppitt Key in the Lower Keys. He was diving for lobster near the Boca Chica Bridge. Paramedics flew the man, 20-year-old Sean Steven Bender of Seminole, to a Miami-Dade hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. Link |

 [Gas Paradise] Well, we recently took a trip up to Tennessee to see what had been until recently the world’s largest gas station. BUC-EES! A 120 gas pumps and tons of useless crap that you didn’t realize that you needed. The selection of junk food is amazing and the brisket is amazing, and don’t forget the spotless bathrooms. But basically this place is like Mecca for rednecks. I didn’t take this picture, I was too afraid of pissing off some redneck family. |
