Plastic makers lied about recycling for decades. What do we do next? The plastic industry pushed recycling as a solution to waste, while internally dismissing it as technically and economically unviable. Most plastic is either landfilled or burned—just about 9 percent is ever recycled. Link
US’s lunar lander is not dead yet. Despite landing on its side and struggling to maintain power, Odysseus, the first US spacecraft to land on the moon in over half a century, is still somewhat operational. Link
[To The Boardwalk Bar and Grill] A comment from a pig lover. Hay, do you guys know about smoking  pork butt at low temperature? There’s nothing like slow smoked pork. You’ve got the smoker. Just turn the temperature down to about 215 degrees, put the pork shoulder or Boston butt, well-seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic and put them in the cooker until the internal temperature reads  about 204 degrees.  Pull them out and let them rest for about 15 minutes. Then shred the meat for pulled pork that will make your mouth water. Try it, you’ll like it!
[Friday Joke] Daffy Duck and Elmer Fudd break into a distillery. Daffy turns to Elmer and says, “ls this Whiskey?” Elmer says, “Yeth, but not as whiskey as

[Benefits Of A Good Vocabulary] I recently called an old engineering buddy of mine and asked what he was working on these days. He replied that he was working on “aqua-thermal treatment of ceramics, aluminum and steel under a constrained environment. “ I was impressed until, upon further inquiry, I learned that he was washing dishes with hot water under his wife’s supervision.

[Friday Joke] At a girl’s college hostel, dates were permitted only on Saturday nights. One young man showed up on a Tuesday evening, explaining to an older woman in the lobby of the dorm that it was imperative he see a certain young lady immediately. “| want to surprise her. You see, I’m her brother.” “Oh, she’ll be surprised all right,” said the woman. “But think of how surprised I am. I’m her mother!”

[Friday Joke] For the past 21 years my wife has been complaining about me not putting the cap back on the toothpaste. Last anniversary, I decided to change this bad habit and make my wife happy. For a week, I was diligent, always capping the toothpaste. I was expecting my wife to thank me, but she never did it. Finally last night, she turned and looked at me and said: “Why have you stopped brushing your teeth?” Marriage is a difficult relationship, I tell you.

[Tuesday’s “Swiss humor”] Submarines are mostly pipes and more pipes. In the drafting department of Connecticut submarine builders, one of the draftsmen in the nuclear department drew a whole lot of little cartoons of people skiing down sloping reactor pipes. The blueprints passed the print-checkers and actually issued and are onboard a nuclear ballistic missile sub. Little people skiing down pipes were the last things the print checkers were looking for!

[Friday Joke] Hello Men’s Helpline,
I really need your advice on a serious problem: I have suspected for some time now that my wife has been cheating on me. The usual signs: if the phone rings and I answer, the caller hangs up; she goes out with the girls a lot. I try to stay awake to look out for her when she comes home but I usually fall asleep. Anyway, last night about midnight I hid in the shed behind the boat. When she came home, she got out of someone’s car buttoning her blouse, then she took her panties out of her purse and slipped them on. It was at that moment crouched behind the boat that I noticed a hairline crack in the outboard engine mounting bracket. Is that something I can weld or do I need to replace the whole bracket?
