Cruise ship policy is back on the agenda at City Hall this Wednesday. With future use of the Navy’s Outer Mole still unclear, Commissioner and mayoral candidate Sam Kaufman has sponsored a resolution that requests the Navy’s cooperation in maintaining the City’s longstanding One Ship Policy. The One Ship Policy directs large cruise ship operations away from Mallory Dock and the Outer Mole and establishes priority docking at the privately operated Pier B Cruiseport. Faithfully implemented by the City for the past 50 months, the One Ship Policy has led to a 50% reduction in environmentally damaging large cruise ship operations.
