[Centipedes] Those 5″ long centipedes you were looking to use for bait, hurt like hell when they sting you. Just ask my middle toe on my right foot. I poured bleach on the bite mark to try to stop it from hurting, finally I called Doc Grider and they said to take Benadryl. It really helped so I also got the spray and it finally quit hurting. It feels like a yellow jacket on steroids when it stings you. |
I can’t sit by in silence. I have to comment on the two consecutive days of hate speech directed at the daughter of Republican Speaker John Boehner. The fact that she is marrying a Jamaican and may be a little heavy is cause for your ridicule and mockery? Once a bully always a bully! Shame on you! |

[Developers] Thought they were exempt from taxes. Guess they lied here. By the end of the year, more than 2,000 military families living in southeastern Connecticut will have a new landlord. The United States Navy is preparing to select a contractor to operate and improve its housing near the Naval Submarine Base in Groton. The public-private venture is expected to result in the construction of 150 new apartments and a complete renovation of 1,400 others, said Capt. James E. Ratte Jr., the base commander. The privatization of base housing also means that the town will soon be collecting taxes on the apartments, because the contractor will own them, Captain Ratte said. That will mean a windfall for the town. The Groton assessor, John S. Philip, said this would also mean a lot of work for his office, since the units have never been subject to a formal valuation process because they were federal property. He estimated that apartments are worth $16,000 to $40,000 each and will raise the town’s tax base by at least $32 million and tax revenues by some $700,000. |
There is a big chuckhole in the highway where you come onto Rockland Key that you can’t see in the dark, but you sure can feel when your wheel slams into it. How about someone getting off their derriere and filling it with something? |

[Go Publix!] Next time you shop at a Publix store, take time to thank an employee wearing a “LIVE UNITED” sticker on his or her badge for giving back to our community. A total of 138 Publix associates throughout Monroe County have collectively pledged $65,663 in payroll deductions to our local United Way campaign – up 60% from $41,096 pledged last year. Publix Super Markets Charities matched the associates’ pledges with a $52,100 check, for a total of $117,763 to United Way of the Florida Keys. In all, the supermarket chain raised nearly $49 million for this year’s United Way campaigns in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee. Locally, pledges from Publix employees totaled $18,350 and $16,562 from the Searstown and Key Plaza locations in Key West, respectively; $16,410 at the Key Largo store, and $12,000 at the Marathon Publix. |

There are more black voters because there are more black people. Eventually, whites and blacks will be outnumbered by the hispanics. Their reproduction rate, being tracked by census data, shows Hispanic parent child grandchild rate accelerating.. Unfortunately, nothing in the census questions collected any data on being a citizen. The census only wants to know how many and how each in a household are related. |
[Fisherman Forces Diver to Surface] If one can believe what was posted here, why not charge the guy with attempted murder? Isn’t what he tried to do was kill her, yanking her up like that? Wouldn’t he be looking at 25 years or so if the charges were right? If so, a reasonable plea bargain instead of bunking with Bubba for a quarter century might be to rehab the fool and enlighten his circle of friends as well. Plenty of ways to go about it, but bottom line in the end, the asshole would be a marine biologist diver who fully understands the complexities of human impact, pollution, overfishing, and assholes on our grandkid’s fish population. And he can pay for it, not us. We all win, so does he. |

[Pork Barrel] Congress insists on spending $436 million for new tanks – but the Army doesn’t even want them. Lawmakers have devoted nearly half a billion dollars in taxpayer funds over the past two years to roll out upgrades of the Abrams tank so their districts can have the related business. The Army argues that the money would be better spent elsewhere. Upgraded Abrams tanks cost about $7.5 million each, the Army says. |

[?]It seems the question should be why government time is spent on slander, in print I might add. It takes time to prove such things, and the proof is out there, now what is the County going to do about it, I am a taxpayer and work in this county? |

To answer FTR‘s question: Yes, the record cold weather is related to mankind caused global warming induced climate change. |
It’s obvious that the poster who wrote about George W Bush moving his lips as he reads has not investigated the GWB library. In the collection are two books that belonged to Ronald Reagan, said to be his favorites, that he gave to George W as a present. Unfortunatly George lost the crayons that came with them so these books still have uncolored pages in them. |
Has anyone ever seen old comedy movies where when someone runs out of bullets, they throw the gun? Well, GOP supporters are out of bullets (facts) when it comes to defaming their opponents. Rehashing Benghazi again and again is their equivalent to throwing the gun. |

I’m white (not black), and I have never ‘stayed home’ on election day. Never will either. But I damn sure did not vote for the GOP lunatics. Anyone gonna cry now? |
FTR’s dragging out the ol’ “Global Warming” chestnut that the righty wackos like to gnaw on every now and again. The term “global warming” was adopted years ago and became comfortable, common parlance. But it’s accurate — the earth is indeed warming. But our climate scientists knew it was too narrow a term to encompass all aspects of the appropos term, “climate change.” The world is not just getting warmer, our climate is getting increasingly extreme- with big temperature swings and more hurricanes and severe weather. This instability includes, within this warming pattern, record cold drops and snowstorms for brief periods at a time. The righties want to point to the cold spells as evidence against “global warming,” but sorry, FTR… they are part and parcel of this trend. I’m sorry science and facts upset you so much. |

Here’s the problem Republicans can’t wrap their heads around. They see voters as white, black or other. It keeps them from seeing all voters as simply Americans. They just don’t get it. They are looking for scapegoats that don’t exist. The American people elected our President. End of conversation. |
[“Bush who inherited a budget surplus”] Here goes yet another Bush basher liberal loudmouth who is to quick to spew misinformation and half truths without having a clue how our government and the Federal Reserve works, macro economics, nor even bother to consult public records of who made certain decisions and why, what party held power at the time who REALLY is responsible for 7.5 trillion in losses. NAH it’s easier to blame one lame duck president while the Dem Congress gave away trillions in bad loans and rewarded banks to do so. The real criminals to blame are the Congressional Socialists and their cohorts at Freddie and Fannie purchasing trillions in subprime mortgages on the backs of taxpayers, why the Fed printed up trillions of dollars to fix their mess, why food and fuel prices are now high. Nah just easier for the ignorant to blame just one man who was told at the time the government was taking too much in for it’s needs and wanted to do the right thing refund the excess. |
[Reynolds’ Laws] 1st Law.The government decides to try to increase the middle class by subsidizing things that middle class people have: If middle-class people go to college and own homes, then surely if more people go to college and own homes, we’ll have more middle-class people. But home ownership and college aren’t causes of middle-class status, they’re markers for possessing the kinds of traits — self-discipline, the ability to defer gratification, etc. — that let you enter, and stay, in the middle class. Subsidizing the markers doesn’t produce the traits; if anything, it undermines them. 2nd Law. The more a government wants to run its citizens’ lives, the worse job it will do at the most basic tasks of government. 3rd Law. Whatever politicians control, they will use against you to get what they want. |
FROM THE RIGHT |
Deer Friends we really should be kind and understanding with our friends from the left. It’s the humane thing to do. Far too often we read here demonstrations of the symptoms of Democrat Dementia. The dementia is usually evidenced by an inability to accept or even recognize reality. Not all Democrats, in fact just a few suffer from that malady, but for some unknown reason far too often we read their thoughts here on CT. Just yesterday we read two such postings. The postings were classic in that the authors have a view of events that is completely contrary to the truth. One poster apparently believes that this Olde Fart in some fashion stated that Republicans had “pushed through” embassy security budget cuts. The reality that was clearly stated by this Olde Fart is that the reductions in the budget request by the State Department were passed by the House and the Democrat controlled Senate. Then Obama signed the legislation. Another Democrat Dementia sufferer posted that Republicans were responsible for our massive debt, the banking failure, and tried to kill the auto industry. An interesting fantasy. But the facts are that Bush did inherit a budget surplus, but 9/11 and the attendant responses caused our deficit to grow. But, by ’07, with a Republican Congress and with growing revenues, tax cuts, and with responsible spending, that deficit had been beaten down by more than 60% of what it had been in ’04. That all changed when the Democrats took control of Congress in ’07. In the next year, with the Democrat Congress in control of our purse strings, our debt and deficit again began to soar. Please note that the explosion in debt did not begin until Democrats controlled Congress and the Presidency. Then, with the Democrats in control of the House and Senate we were plunged into recession. The addled poster believes that the Republicans intentionally drove the auto industry in chaos so as to hurt the unions. The facts are that the Big Three auto makers were on the ropes while the Democrats held the House and Senate. The industry was hobbled by many factors, including horribly costly union contracts, feckless management, a growing recession, and fuel prices which inhibited sales of the profitable SUV’s. Another interesting symptom of Democrat Dementia is confusion between history and the present. Yesterday’s D.D. postings were absorbed with Democrat mis-interpretation of history, but the Benghazi murders are current, and the reality is that Americans were murdered as a result of the Presidents “light footprint” policy in Libya. Part 2) In a better world the media would be unbiased and simply report the facts. Not so now. Wouldn’t you think that $3.3 billion dollars in unemployment fraud would be news. But it has not been news. The fact is that The Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis recently reported the systemic fraud in our unemployment safety net to the tune of $3.3 billion in just last year. Where was the management of Team Obama? Where was the media? Then there is a new report by the nonpartisan Government Accountability Institute (GAI), that President Barack Obama has spent over twice as many hours on vacation and golf (976 hours) as he has in economic meetings of any kind (474.4 hours). The report, “Presidential Calendar: A Time-Based Analysis,” used the official White House calendar, Politico’s comprehensive presidential calendar, and media reports through March 31, 2013 to calculate its results. One must wonder why the mainstream media has no interest in such matters. Part 3) While we thinking about Benghazi we should be aware that the whole mess is just now starting to heat up. There are at least 3 State Department employees and one CIA employee who know all there is to know about the entire Benghazi episode, these folks are scared to death of the threats that have been made to them if they speak the truth. They have lawyered up and you very soon will be hearing some startling, even horrifying, information about Team Obama/Clinton’s handling of the affair. Then there is the fact that there are many persons in the special operations community who are getting ready to go public, and/or testify to Congress that there were special operations assets available that could have been boots on the ground within 2-3 hours of the start of the affair. The murders occurred some 7-8 hours after the initial assault. Had those assets been utilized, the Ambassador and three other Americans would be alive today. None of the foregoing happened because it was contrary the Obama/Clinton light foot print policy. A policy that politics required because of Obama’s insistent that Muslim terrorism is declining. We are in the midst of a cover up by Team Obama that will make Watergate seem to be a walk in the park. Nobody died in Watergate. Ask yourself why we still don’t know the names of the wounded, or even the number of the wounded. Ask yourself why they have not been permitted to tell their stories. We have heard -0- actual witness reports. After the deaths the Obama admin lied to save their sorry butts. Shameful |
