I went to South Beach for the weekend and observed that everyone has an international accent, it’s hard to tell the hookers from the tourists, and every car horn or person shouting isn’t my friends saying, “hey!”. The walk signs talk to you, everything is in walking distance and parking cost $20 a day. I was impressed with the high energy everywhere. I’d never seen anything like it. Even the elevators in the luxury hotels were playing high energy music. I was probably the oldest person in South Beach. Everyone else was beautiful and young. All the races were there in nice proportions. The fronts of the art deco hotels now all have restaurants and entertainment where the old Jews used to sit. Most entertainment is on the outside instead of the inside of the buildings. You don’t even have to go inside to be entertained, it’s all outside. Cuban families sit on blankets on the grass along Ocean Drive and watch the street show, and there sure was one. Glam cars with big rims and rap music booming, exotic cars and girls, girls, girls everywhere. At one point traffic was stopped as a drag queen in full regalia and headdress strutted from the beach across the road posing on cars and creating a rukus as she went. The crowd cheered. You can spend as much as you can’t afford or next to nothing. I’ve never seen a place like it. One night I spent over a hundred and fifty dollars just walking around and stopping here and there; and the next night only twenty bucks (It’s easy when you have a pocket flask. The twenty bucks was for one drink and a tip at Lowes). The level of entertainment makes our local musicians sort of the poor cousins to real professionals. The music was definitely big time. It’s hard to imagine such talent in the Keys. |
[Marathon Journal] ~Cries of voter fraud are currently shouting down the voice of reason and logic. [Ocean Water Disease] A Louisiana man died after contracting flesh-eating bacteria while fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. The bacteria known as Vibria vulnificus – which is found in warm seawater – killed the 83-year-old man after his open wound got infected when water splashed on him during a fishing trip. It thrives in warm water. In the summer months hospitals see an increased number of this type of bacteria in warm salt water. Link |
[Shun Crooks] The State wants to send Druckemiller to jail for her part in iGate, but Gastesi, his #2 (the broad) and Gastesi’s kids, all said to have had possession of stolen property, walk.. At what point do we go back to the old days of shunning wrong-doers? There was a time when societies would not speak to, associate with, or do business with those who did wrong. Criminals were run out of town. How fast would these thieves leave if we left them to themselves? If the State won’t make them pay, then perhaps those they ripped off (us), should. |
[Soccer] The headless referee again makes me question sports fans’ mania for their teams. So what? I ask. I think it doesn’t really matter who wins as long as you have a good time. But I’m in the minority. Soccer fans consider the game virtual war and think their nation’s honor is at stake. I think that’s foolish and small minded, but I’m not a sports fan and can’t understand killing someone or even fighting over a sport. I saw a beer ad for soccer that said soccer is more than a sport and then showed the nation’s flag. Silly I thought. No wonder there’s no harmony in the world. If they can’t have fun at a game how can they be expected to make rational decisions about things that do matter. |

[Feel Safe] Our government has heightened security, spies on it’s own citizens through internet and phone records. TSA agents pat down little old ladies before they board our airplanes. [The Grinder Pump] After a Hurricane the FKAA plans to drive around, to each house, in a pickup truck with a generator to help the effluent flow since there will be no electricity. The generator is environmentally unfriendly as well as being a fire hazard. How long will it take them to get to your house? Sure, the grinder pump holds 400 gallons. Big deal. The average septic tank is 750 gallons. Something has to be done about this ludicrous plan. Are we really going to sit back and be bullied into this grand slam because “they” made up their minds? |

[Soccer Madness] Sao Paulo – Soccer Referee Otavio da Silva boots player Josenir Abreu out of a soccer game. Fight between the two breaks out, ref stabs player, player dies en route to hospital. Enraged spectators invaded the field, stone the ref to death, then “quartered” ref’s body. Not satisfied, the mob then decapitated Silva & sticks his head on a stake in the middle of the field. And the NFL is worried about head injuries & head-hunting? Ho-hum-yawn. |

The mosquito control people are going to raise our taxes 25% for a new administration building. This agency is the most money squandering agency we have. There are employees up the wazoo riding around in trucks hiding from work. They are so lazy that GPSs have been added to the trucks so that the supervisors can tell if they are working. What do they really do? Count mosquitoes. Two part time employees could do that. They already have a giant hangar in Marathon sitting at the end of the runway housing a helicopter and their plane. Really the building looks like a Walmart. We can’t get some admin offices in there? We can’t make a small addition to that building for 75k or so to avoid spending millions? Really? The ridiculous spending of this county’s agencies is choking the life out of this county’s workers. Everyone please make yourselves heard on this Mosquito control building issue. |
[Sewers] I am a firm believer that in most cases you get exactly what you pay for. A good example of this is when the county commissioners asked the engineers at FKAA to come up with a $20,000,000 cost reduction in the central sewer system for Cudjoe, the engineers came up with the pump and grind stations that the home owners will have to pay the extra costs. |
[25% more Mosquito Control taxes] A new million dollar building isn’t going to kill more mosquitoes and noseeums. |

[Muslims Bad] Dhimmitude is the Muslim system of controlling non-Muslim populations conquered through jihad (Holy War). Specifically, it is the taxing of non-Muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence and as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to Islam.
Obamacare allows the establishment of Dhimmitude and Sharia Muslim diktat in the United States. Muslims are specifically exempted from the government mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured. Islam considers insurance to be “gambling”, “risk-taking”, and “usury” and is thus banned. Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this. |
[“Republicans have no qualms about blocking everything Obama tries to do to help all Americans”] Ok, what exactly is Obama trying to do that the Republicans are blocking? If you’re going to say Obamacare, the administration has already decided to delay employer mandates until after the 2014 elections. With any luck, the whole mess with be repealed before it takes full effect. This NY Post article details the problems with it. Link So besides for making insurance unaffordable for all Americans, what else has Obama done? |
I finally found something to agree with FTR! Dana Perino is hot. Smart too. |
[Obamacare] Remember the sad story of the woman with a “uterus full of tumors” who couldn’t get health insurance because they were a pre existing condition. Then the messiah forced Obamacare on the country and she was saved because the meany old insurance companies were now forced to pay for her surgery. She graciously thanked the President for saving her life…only problem is the pre existing condition mandate doesn’t go into effect for another year. Yea that’s right. Lies, lies and more damn lies. Can you imagine the left having to live in a world of truth or facts or decency or honesty. They cheat, lie and steal because that’s all they have. These are in human monsters who will stop at nothing to get what they want. Let’s be clear Obama provided you with nothing. I paid for your health care and I did not have a choice. His law forced me to take financial responsibility for myself my family as well as you. Second your job is not responsible for your healthcare. Tht your employer didn’t provide you with healthcare in no way excuses your irresponsibility. Never has anyone but myself paid for my health insurance for my self and my family. It was always the first thing I made sure was covered every single month. Had you taken responsibility for your self there would never have been a “pre existing” condition. If you were too poor than you would have been covered by Medicaid or Medicare. Obamacare does nothing but strip the rights away from the decent hard working responsible folks and pander to the irresponsible like you. At one time I felt empathy for people who suffered as you did but not anymore. I. Am sick and tired of humping my ass all day long, taking responsibility for myself and my family only to have every goddamn dime I earn sucked away by people like you. Your suffering shouldn’t be glorified it should be exemplified as what happens to irresponsible self centered spoiled rotten brats. |

California prison doctors sterilized almost 150 women over a four-year period because they didn’t want the state to have to provide welfare funding to any children they might have in the future, one of the top doctors admitted this week. California taxpayers spent $147,460 on the procedures between 1997 and 2010. ”Over a 10-year period, that isn’t a huge amount of money,” Dr. James Heinrich, the OB-GYN at Valley State Prison for Women, told the Center for Investigative Reporting, “compared to what you save in welfare paying for these unwanted children – as they procreated more.” You gotta love socialism! CNS News (cnsnews.com) has just published a stunning report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. That report estimates that a total of 101,000,000 people currently participate in at least one of the 15 food programs offered by the agency, at a cost of $114 billion in fiscal year 2012. That’s nearly a third of all Americans. That also means that the number of Americans receiving food assistance has surpassed the number of private sector workers in the U.S. SNAP (food stamps) has a monthly average of about 47 million participants, or 22.5 million households. Food stamps alone had a budget of $88.6 billion in FY 2012. Deer Friends, I have real difficulty in wrapping my arms around the notion that more Americans are getting government food than are working. This is brand new, this is the first we’ve heard of this. It is a horrible revelation. This is the direct result of Democrat governance. It’s crazy, but our Democrat friends are proud of this, in fact they spend millions in promoting the various welfare programs. They encourage the poor to get poorer.
Part 2) Sometimes those of us who decry the growth of government, or governments ever increasing intrusions into our private lives, and the shift of power from the governed to the government feel like the Lone Ranger. Sometimes it seems that nobody cares, or that nobody recognizes the insidious trend. Sometimes it seems to us that the very fabric of our nation is unraveling. Now it looks like we may have been wrong. On June 3 Rasmussen published a poll that had fascinating results. Rasmussen reported that more Americans than ever (63%) think a government that is too powerful is a bigger danger in the world today than one that is not powerful enough. 60% Say our Federal Government does not have the consent of the governed. That belief is a real threat to Democrat politicians Rasmussen is also reporting that 62% of likely voters believe that the free market is better at reducing the cost of health care than is the government. That’s a huge “Ouch” for Obamacare. Certainly this bodes well for Republican/Conservative candidates in the mid terms. Given the Obama admins track record of intrusion into our private lives, it’s no surprise that now 56% view our current government as a threat to individual rights. Count me among them. Our friends from the left field cling to the belief that our Constitution should be malleable, subject to change in order to fit the currently popular views. A Rasmussen poll reveals great news for our freedom: 56% think our Constitution should be left alone. It is Conservative dogma that our Constitution should not be tampered with. It’s no surprise that only 21% of Americans now strongly approve of Mr. Obama’s performance, while 43% strongly disapprove Obama’s management of our economy seems to be off putting of his supporters. Rasmussen reports that only 33% believe that our economy will improve next year. |
