Now Don Barrett wants to be a Judge. He couldn’t stomach being involved in the anti corruption platform so he walked out. Of course he doesn’t have a problem with using the title of Chief Assistant. Someone should ask Don why he walked out of the Third Circuit State Attorney’s Office as well.  ~john2221@aol.com

Every Catholic in the world is excited about Pope Francis’ open attitude and the modern changes he’s putting forth –except the Vatican stalwarts.

[Dredging] TV ads say “It’s just a study.” A study is the first step legally required to dredge in a National sanctuary. Even if voters approved widening the channel, by law, a study would have to be completed–step 1. A study is the first step in the elaborate legal process to dredge in the Sanctuary.

water-nazi[Water Nazis] I work off the water and will not voice my opinion because I don’t want retaliation from the Sanctuary, FWC or Marine Patrol.  But I do have an opinion. The bubba system can hurt as well as help.

I am a senior and I am not naïve.  I do not have or show a lack of experience or knowledge concerning the rules that a government agency imposes on its citizens. To voice your opinion in a public forum and not expect the powers that be to focus their efforts on your business is neither an innocent nor simple act.

When a person has not been exposed previously to an agency with authority to write tickets, make your life difficult, confiscate property — that person speaks freely.

So, yes, the SAC meetings are open to public comment but they also take plate numbers in the nearby parking lots as well as keep track of names and can obtain personal information very easily.

A person does not have to be a senior to not be naïve. But experienced.

[No Bid Trash Contract] You can spin it any way you want, but the current trash guys will get their 10 year contracts.  First Monroe County gets screwed by the gang of four with the purchase of a marina we do not need. Soon we will be screwed deeper by the trash contracts.  What a county!  It is time for new representation.

[Peeping Professor] A college professor who used a camera pen to secretly film under the clothing of two students explained to police that he was attempting to gather evidence that one of the women “was not wearing undergarments,” which he thought was “inappropriate,” according to a police report.

That explanation, however, did not keep cops from arresting Don Samuelson, 65, on a pair of felony video voyeurism counts. Samuelson, who teaches at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine, allegedly victimized the two students on four separate occasions this year.

[Dredging] I guess the pro study, pro dredging folks have a lot of bucks because I just  saw one of their 30 second  commercials on CNN.  That’s big bucks fighting for their  big bucks. I recently saw a hearing on the Florida Channel  dealing with Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades water quality. A representative from the Army Corps of Engineers said that they were not bound by The Clean Water Act when it comes to “navigation and public safety”. My guess is that this study is their first step allow them to dredge in the Keys and circumvent the laws dealing with the Marine Sanctuary.  Poor Key West if they get their way.

[Hate Speech] Deer Ed, after reading FTR’s post Sunday, it’s time for you to quit protecting him from the wrath he is due. He talks about hate speech yet he is one of, if not the most, prolific producers of it on the CT with his smug suave style.

Time for FTR to be unprotected. Let him attempt to defend himself. Old men that think they can open their mouths under the protection or ‘elder care’ need to learn their might be consequences.

Beware of a landlord who will try to get you to sign an illegal lease stating that you will pay for one half of any and all repairs in its yellow Cudjoe Key house.  This residence has pre-existing damages from hurricane Wilma. The greedy owner was paid a substantial amount then spent a quarter of it on cheap repairs.  The entire house is put together with scotch tape and the patio sliders do not lock and his alcoholic, bumbling handyman can and will enter the house and help himself to your provisions.  This is a bad scene and you would be better served to find a more professional landlord and a safer house for $2,000 a month.

[Captain Doom and Gloom] “Bust the NRA and remove their power”] Humor is in the eye of the idiot. The NRA is defending your right to live here, to write what you just did, to be a free person. Do not think so? Move to any country that abolished gun ownership.

“Dredging” This is not good for Key West you say, but if they dredge for the monster ships would not the idea of making KW a Embarkation/Debarkation Port pop up? If this happens the big international hotel chains and restaurants will have a field day building new places. Just think of the parking lot sizes and the masses of traffic on Route 1. Then if Cuba opens up, boom goes our islands with dredging in every canal and waterway from Miami to the Fort for the yachts! The NWO: New Water Owners will rule.

Donkeys are jumping for joy as they watch the Regressive Party self destruct: The good old GOP leaders vs Radical Nut Jobs. Get the popcorn, sit in the Lazyboy, turn on FOX (it’s much more humorous than the others) and watch it happen. You know what they say, “What goes around, comes around.”

[“Why do you like Obamacare”] What’s not to like? I suggest the Right actually read the words (they’re not too big) and try to understand their meaning instead of making stuff up or mimicking right-wing ‘hate Obama’ sites. Link

[Hate Speech] FTR condemns hate speech yet he’s the go to guy if you want to read hate. Sadly in his narrow world he thinks he’s telling the truth.

[Conservative Logic] Obama threatened Syria with military options. No American troops ended up firing any weapons into Syria. Russia demanded that America take the military option off the table yet our President refused. Russia is left without getting their demands met. Syria admits they have gas weapons. Syria has already given a partial list of their weapons to an international party. Israel is relieved that the attacks were prevented. Iran rebukes Syria for using the weapons on their own people.

Yet thru the eyes of the American Conservative this is a crushing defeat. No American deaths, Syria disarming, our ally  Israel happy with our response and our President giving Putin the finger are all a crushing defeat for our country.

They play the victim card better then anyone else in the world. But then again Bush did have a mancrush on Putin and that set the tone for the Conservatives love of Putin even at the expense of their own country.

FTR quote: “We see a great deal of hate speech here from our left fielders, but the scope and intensity seems to be increasing. Thank God that most of them hate guns.”

FTR, you have absolutely no responsibility in the proliferation of this? Think again, you are the main source of hate speech here on the CT.

Regressive Party, please take note: “If by a Liberal they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people – their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties – someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a Liberal, then I’m proud to say I’m a Liberal.”  ~John F. Kennedy

[Iran Wants to Talk Peace] The Right is complaining that Obama wants to talk to Iran about peace when there isn’t a deal on the table. The Right is completely out of touch. I’ll make it easy for them: Any time your enemy wants to talk peace–talk!

[Obamacare] As an individual who is about to have his insurance rates go up three hundred percent thanks to the President’s dumb plan, I am thankful that the GOP is doing everything in their limited power to derail this travesty. Even the Unions that supported Obama and went in head first for Obamacare have finally realized that this is an economy killer of a plan.

Since one person decided to respond to “Why do you like Obamacare” when no one in the federal government has to use it. I merely ask,” why do you like it’. I am sorry my logic did not get thru to you, I did not claim or imply what you claim, but I was interested in why you think it is so great? So far all I can see is total confusion on those for whom the program was intended. And I assume you might have had an insight on the “wonderful world of Obamacare”, which as usual, you, nor any democrat has answered nor justified. In talking to my doctors (I have five who I see regularly being over 75 ), their opinion is it will cause them to curtail their services, not accept many new patients, and force them to become record keepers for the government. However, if you can enumerate your

position of being in favor of Obamacare, rather than degrading my attempt at communication, I would be glad to hear your view.

from the right

dunce donkeyIt is often disconcerting to read the posts from liberal/democrat/progressive posters. All too often their claims are fallacious. We can’t know if they intentionally set out to deceive us or perhaps they are so inculcated with their catechism that they are simply unable to recognize truth.  Yesterday was a sterling example.

I must remind the progressive poster that liberals have had control of our country since January 2007. Up until 1994 the Democrats had controlled Congress for all but 4 of the previous 62 years. I must also remind the poster that the cities with the highest murder rates are controlled by Democrats. Further, those jurisdictions have the most restrictive gun laws.  I must also remind the poster that while gun ownership is increasing, crime rates nationwide are dropping. I must also remind the poster that the largest casualty toll in mass murders is not from guns. Bombs, box cutters, and airplanes top the weapon category.

You should consider the fact that the USA has the highest level of gun ownership per capita in the world, its rate of gun homicides, about three per 100,000 people, is far lower than most other nations.

The poster did mention one interesting stat, s/he wrote: the US is 34th out of the 35 industrialized nations in percentage of poor children.  Poor children are defined by UNICEF as living in a household that earns less than half of the national median.  First you have to understand that many American poor have perks that other nations could not imagine. Then you have to realize that the American median income is the fourth highest in the world. Half of a really big apple is a hell of a lot more than half of a tiny apple.

Our progressive/liberal/democrat friends have spawned generations of people who are habituated to welfare and government handouts. That habituation has scoured ambition and self-respect from far too many welfare recipients. Democrat politico’s encourage enrollment in welfare programs, they purchase votes with gifts of tax payer money.
