[Cowards] Though the Uvalde Police Department has since changed its story about what happened during the shooting at least 12 times, a Friday statement by Director of Texas Department of Public Safety Steven McCraw indicated Arredondo’s orders delayed police response during the incident. Link
[Violent Video Games] Why do the parents allow their kids to play these violent video games where there is nothing but shooting and killing? These games desensitize kids to death and suffering. The games teach kids that killing can be fun. The younger generation is not being taught respect, responsibility, consideration, manners, and this is all because it is easier for the parent to be a friend rather than a parent. You are failing as a parent
[Mosquitoes Favorite Blood Types] While type O blood appears to be held on a pedestal in the world of mosquitoes, according to many studies, they do enjoy sucking other blood types as well. In order, here’s how the blood types stack up: First Place: Type 0 is the favorite
Second Place: Type B comes in second
Third Place: Type A. People with Type A are 50% less likely to get bit then Type 0 people.
Researchers also found that around 85 percent of us actually secrete a powerful chemical signal through our skin that essentially advertises what our blood type is.
[New Mexico Fire] Federal forest officials are worrying about future flash floods, landslides and destructive ash from their prescribed burn which is now the largest wildfire in the country. Link
[Home Made Boat Race] Do you remember the homemade boat races they used to have at the Sandbar on Little Torch? We used to go until they changed the venue. It was different from the Minimal Regatta, but I don’t recall what was different about the boats. (You paddled, but couldn’t use your hands?) Seems to me the Barometer was the sponsor? I’m wondering if they still have them.
I was saddened not to find the Religion and Political postings on Friday as usual. Please try to do better. I appreciate your efforts to keep the Freedom of Speech alive and well in the Florida Keys.  (Editor: Thank you for letting me know. I did publish it, but I was late at 12:54 because I forgot.) Link
Proper drainage is the key to keeping houseplants alive. These tricks can help. You might have a pot that you love, but your plant has to love it too. Link is the key to keeping houseplants alive. These tricks can help. You might have a pot that you love, but your plant has to love it too. Link
[Windows OS] For all you guys who have suffered with Windows 10 and 11 hating the interface and wishing it looked like the older Windows you loved, here’s a workaround to the interface. Link

New test for monkeypox virus is already available at Winn Dixie in the produce department.

225 mass shootings (4 or more) this year alone. There’s only one way to remove this blight from our society, but no one is willing to suggest it as it would be political suicide and the nuts would kill you.

[Cowards] Border Patrol Tactical Team was ordered to hold back before confronting the gunman. The blame game is in full swing, in order to cover up their cowardice. Link

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane. ~Marcus Aurelius

[Magic Plates] All of these plates are flipped upside down except one. Once you see that one, they’ll all be right side up!

[Famous Gotcha Moment] JFK’S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60’s when DeGaulle decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaulle said he wanted all US military out of France as soon as possible.
Rusk responded, “Does that include those who are buried here?”
DeGaulle did not respond. You could have heard a pin drop.

[Hairy Nose] My nose continues to get wider as I grow older and hair is sprouting from my ears. Conclusion: five more years and I’ll be a koala.

[Don’t Protect Poisonwood] Poisonwood. Have any of you poisonwood lovers ever encountered the poisonwood sap? How did you enjoy it? It put me in the ER. Personally, I do not mind a few less poisonwood trees.

[Cowards] You never heard so many excuses and passing the buck from the Texas police trying to justify their cowardice. The cops were scared to death. Nothing more scary than a kid with an assault weapon.

[Dive Boat Manslaughter] Two Keys dive boat owners disappeared after a woman died 11 years ago. They’ve returned and were found guilty of manslaughter. Link
[Lower Gas Prices] We need a tax holiday. Save $0.19 a gallon. How much tax do we pay on a gallon of gasoline and on a gallon of diesel fuel? Federal taxes include excises taxes of 18.3 cents per gallon on gasoline and 24.3 cents per gallon on diesel fuel, and a Leaking Underground Storage Tank fee of 0.1 cents per gallon on both fuels.
United Kingdom imposes windfall tax on oil and gas company profits as inflation bites. Why can’t the US of A do the same? Link
[Romancing the Rock] Key West (from the Spanish “Cayo Hueso”) was made a Navy base in the 1830s to deal with the rampant smugglers and pirates. An account of 1885 provides the flavor of Key West.
“Moonlight beautiful over the harbor. Find anchorage near the wharf. See many boats and lights about us. All quiet except chickens and dogs. Wind from south, very warm and sultry.
Engage a carriage for a view around the town. The island is seven by three miles in extent, prettily built places with frame houses, with green blinds, surrounded by thick luxuriant growths of tropical trees and flowers. Streets narrow; rather hard roads on the bed of natural lime-stone rock… a great many pools of stagnant water in the streets. Many Spanish faces and voices; strange hotels with strange fruits and customs. The tropical coconut palm is all prevalent and very striking; some house yards have numbers of them. Drove over to the empty fort commanding the harbor, and down the beach, on which were washed up a good many cup sponges. Past the sponge-drying yards, and back to the boat for supper. Beautiful evening; all sat on deck until late, enjoying the warmth, the setting sun glow, and the moon-light.”
