![]() It will remove five roads that were that were installed during the platting of the Pine Key Acres development in 1973 and a road installed by USFWS in 2007 (Lime Lane). The original roads are very thin layers of fill, and do not impede the flow of water very much. The project is stated to “add benefits of flood protection for residents and greater resilience against sea level rise”. It will not accomplish either of these things. It will however cause the continuing loss of native vegetation, substantial traffic disruption, and the permanent loss of one million dollars, that could be better spent on projects that would actually contribute to resilience against sea level rise. Sea level has risen more than five inches since these roads were installed. Most of them were completely under water for more than the last three months. Part of the plan is to clear more native vegetation to put in a new road on the east side of the project. In case no one noticed it, we have had the longest stretch of high tides in history recently, and there is no question that sea level rise at a much faster rate than ever before. Digging trenches through roads to connect with salt water might not be the best move at this point. Salt water comes right up to the western edge of Key Deer Blvd. many times a year. High tides come up to the north side of Watson Blvd. Who is the hydrologist that came up with this plan? What will be the effect of the five-foot-deep trenches on the south side of Watson Blvd. and the west side of Key Deer Blvd that were dug during the installation of the sewer lines. Some times leaving things alone is the best plan |

![]() After the old man recorded his message, they asked his son to translate it. He refused. The NASA PR people brought the tape to the reservation, where the rest of the tribe listened and laughed, but refused to translate the elder’s message. Finally, the NASA crew called in an official government translator. His translation of the old man’s message was: “Watch out for these guys; they have come to steal your land.” |

[Friday Joke] An old woman is riding in an elevator in a very lavish New York City building when a young and beautiful woman gets into the elevator, smelling of expensive perfume. She turns to the old woman and says arrogantly, “Romance” by Ralph Lauren, $150 an ounce.” Then another young and beautiful woman gets on the elevator; and also very arrogantly turns to the old woman saying, “Chanel No. 5. $200 an ounce.“ About three floors later, the old woman has reached her destination and is about to get off the elevator. Before she leaves. she looks both beautiful women in the eye then bends over, farts and says, “Broccoli, 49 cents a pound.” |

[Captain Doom and Gloom] People sue for any reason today. It is a worldwide business to find a person with a problem and sue for fortunes to “ease their pain and suffering”. It works this way; people are told they can get even and make millions just by letting a lawyer manipulate the stage show called the judicial system. Who benefits? The person filing the suit usually gets 50% or less of the reward, minus fees, taxes, and other tacked on charges. The lawyers get 50% or more then “pay” his court buddies their share! Stinks huh? Ever notice you hardly read about countersuits or reduced payouts, or cases thrown out. Why? because it is bad publicity for lawyers to get losses. It’s a whore’s world out there. |

[Babies Need Contact] a deprivation experiment allegedly carried out by Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II in the 13th century saw young infants deprived of human interaction in an attempt to determine if there was a natural language that they might demonstrate once their voices matured. It is claimed he was seeking to discover what language would have been imparted into Adam and Eve by God. Legend has it that all 6 infants died. Link |

[“Specialty contractors nixed”] They are cancelling those licenses because so many carpenters think they can build who houses or add-ons with their specialty licenses. This Bill will effectively shut down a whole lot of one-man businesses. Instead of enforcing and policing those small businesses they are putting them out of business. The small guy gets screwed again. Fascism is when government chips away at your rights little by little. Just look at Italy’s new Fascist Prime Minister, already she’s banned the young people’s dance parties called ‘Raves’ and gateherings of 20 or more young people. |
