[Congestion] In addition to environmental concerns, the overpopulation and development of the Keys also create safety issues for residents and visitors alike. I live in Marathon, and I see how many homes intended for vacation renting are being erected. Traffic congestion, overcrowding, and lack of emergency services can all contribute to accidents and other hazards. Moreover, the area is also known for its high crime rates, which can be exacerbated by the influx of tourists and the pressure on local resources and infrastructure.
Elaborating on Mr. Donnelly’s comment: To address these issues, there have been efforts to promote sustainable development, conservation, and community engagement in the Keys. For example, local organizations and government agencies have been working to protect coral reefs and other natural habitats, promote responsible tourism practices, and improve infrastructure and emergency services. However, the scale and complexity of these issues make it a challenging task to balance economic development and environmental protection while ensuring public safety and well-being. Everything is done for a buck and as long as a buck can be made, people can be bought.

[Horse-Drawn Travois] Why did the American Indian take so long to adapt the wheel? They just dragged two sticks behind a horse to carry their teepees or their sick. Why not put wheels on the ends of those two sticks?
[Debt Ceiling] To the person who asked how raising the debt ceiling this year, or every year would affect them. The short answer is: in innumerable ways. Mortgage and credit card debt would be higher. Anything you buy from overseas would cost more, because the dollar would tank. Even goods and services from this country would cost more, because goods and services that those providers rely on would cost more. Automobiles and homes, because much of the materials needed are imported. There is even the possibility of government pensions and social security postponing or eliminating payments.
[Peeing Murder] The lawyer defending Key West’s Mr Brewer who murdered a guy for peeing on his building wants to find if the witnesses were smoking pot, implying that they didn’t really witness the murder because they were in a drug induced hallucinatory state. That defense might have worked forty years ago, but I ‘ll wager the lawyer, himself, smokes pot and knows that’s not possible.
[Friday Joke] A boy and a man sit on a couch together. The boy says to the man, “Yeah, well, I didn’t believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.”
I lived in the Keys for over 35 years and went through every power outage and storm. I can imagine the world-wide panic if another world war starts and all electric power goes off. Forget your portable power genset. That is temporary and will only last until you are out of fuel, then what? It’s back to the stone age and survival of the meanest and toughest. Forget the nice guys, there won’t be any.
It’s okay to talk to yourself, it’s even okay to answer yourself, but when you ask yourself to repeat what you just said, you have a problem.
[“Mr. Donnelly’s comment on development”] Another thing is that developers are always trying to change the time it takes to evacuate the Key before a hurricane. The lower the times, the more development can occur.
[Define Poor] The Federal poverty level is $60,000 a year for a family of four or $29,160 a year for an individual. And in the Keys affordable housing is only $200 below market rate.
[Captain Doom and Gloom] List of wealthiest families. Read the List and take note of what they do to be this rich. Have your barf bag ready. Most sell nothing important, but junk products, junk services, junk investing, war toys, and things this rock could surly do without. But the fools – us – are so controlled in their chess games, we gladly hand them our blood, sweat and tears to get that junk. Note that there is not one real world farmer on the list. If, and hopefully it never happens, this rock has a problem and the population drops down very low, what will these super rich do for entertainment? Probably capture more peasants and retrain them to cut their grass again. Have a nice day, but pay first. Link

|Ten Reasons Why Men Prefer Guns Over Women.
10 – You can trade an old 44 for a new 22.
9 – You can keep one gun at home and have another for when you’re on the road.
8 – If you admire a friend’s gun and tell him so, he will probably let you try it out a few times.
7 – Your primary gun doesn’t mind if you keep another gun for a backup.
6 – Your gun will stay with you even if you run out of ammo.
5 – A gun doesn’t take up a lot of closet space.
4 – Guns function normally every day of the month.
3 – A gun doesn’t ask , “Do these new grips make me look fat?”
2 – A gun doesn’t mind if you go to sleep after you use it.
1 – You can buy a silencer for a gun.
Clean your faucet filters at least once a month. I just did mine and they were so clogged I had to buy new ones. If I left the filters off I’d probably crack the sink with rocks coming out. Welcome to the Keys
[Captain Doom and Gloom on Geoengineering] There was a movie back in the 80’s(?) that had shown what it could be like if humanity messed with Mother Nature. The snow drifts were half-way up the Empire State Building, the oceans were mostly ice and the people ate each other because there were no farms or ranches. Another scene was the weather got hot, very hot. Breathing was hard, you could not go out of your cave until night and a cup water was worth two hours of sex. After the earth started to shrink the land started to crack and everything died. Only the mad scientists and bankers who had built underground shelters survived until they too died off. In my opinion, it would be not a crime to eliminate such nuts from doing things like making bigger bombs, more ray guns, and messing with the weather. Over-populaters should also be fixed. One thing that will slow down this weather control is to ground all aircraft. If you think about it, no one needs to fly anywhere. Take the boat. Link
[I love Amazon] I bought $256 of bamboo window blinds but when I found out they would take over a month to get here from China I tried to cancel. Amazon said I had to wait until they arrived and then return them. They arrived and I wanted to return them for credit, but Amazon said to keep them and they’d give me an Amazon Gift card for the full amount. It’s no wonder I buy everything from them. Everything, from pencils to water heaters

[Transgender] A note to all women who participate in athletic events. You will continue to be losers as long as you continue to compete with biological males no matter what they call themselves. Just say no. Don’t compete. Just stop competing when a man, claiming to be a woman is scheduled to compete against you. It’s called boycotting and it works. Just look at what happened to Bud Light when they choose to select a lady-boy to be their ambassador. Bud Light went on to lose over 5 billion in revenue. It doesn’t pay to be stupid. And now look at the Navy selecting a transgender to be their spokesperson for recruiting purposes. How well will this work? I can see it now, “I’ll join the Navy and be a drag queen.”
Wetstock 18 lineup:
|[Friday Joke] A guy sits down at the bar and orders drink after drink.
‘ls everything okay, pal?‘ the bartender asks.
‘My wife and I got into a fight and she said she isn’t talking to me for a month!‘
Trying to put a positive spin on things, the bartender says. ‘Well, maybe that’s kind of a good thing. You know, a little peace and quiet?’
‘Yeah, but today is the last day.’
