[Deer Hero] It was good to see the photo of Tom Wilmers in the July 18 Coconut Telegraph. Tom worked for the National Key Deer Refuge for over 30 years. He was the biologist for the refuge starting back when Debra Holle was the manager, she was here for seven years, Tom did over 150 necropsies on Key Deer. He told me the best way to tell what’s going on with the deer is to do necropsies on them. He was the one who first noticed Johannes Disease on Big Pine in 1993 and documented it. He was an expert on Keys raptors, white crowned pigeon, and documented sea turtle nests in the Marquesas.

He picked up many injured dear, along with any refuge employee available for many, many years. Necropsies have not been performed on the deer for almost twenty years. The refuge was a completely different organization back then. Tom retired about 5 years ago and moved to north central Florida. He has not come back since.

I do not believe he would like the current state of the refuge. The constant land clearing of critical habitat, chemical poisoning of trees vital for wildlife, the unresponsiveness of the organization, and the massive government waste. While the basic problems and issues of the refuge are completely ignored.

If you fail a pee test–urine trouble.
I just realized the last day of 2023 will be 123123. Only in this country.
[Amazon Safety Tips] -Trust Amazon-owned channels. Always go through the Amazon mobile app or website when seeking customer service, tech support, or when looking to make changes to your account.
-Be wary of false urgency. Scammers may try to create a sense of urgency to persuade you to do what they’re asking. Be wary any time someone tries to convince you that you must act now.
-Never pay over the phone. Amazon will never ask you to provide payment information, including gift cards (or “verification cards,” as some scammers call them) for products or services over the phone.
-Verify links first. Legitimate Amazon websites contain “amazon.com” or “amazon.com/support.” Go directly to our website when seeking help with Amazon devices/services, orders or to make changes to your account.

[Movies] All the movie fights have the hero landing a few good blows then getting terribly beat up then coming back and landing a good punch to knock out the bad guy.

All the world’s problems are caused by religious superstition or wanting more

Winning a lottery does indeed matter if you die. You could leave behind enough to send all of the children in your family enough to follow their dreams with the educations they would need to go forward in to any career they wish. That would be an awesome legacy.

[“Boo hoo”] Deer Ed – know that, we your loyal readers, appreciate the effort you put into the site (more effort some days than others, thanks to GoDaddy!) Keep fighting the good fight.

[Killing Our Children] I don’t know why I was slow seeing it, but when I saw it, I had zero doubt it was true. The ongoing shooting and killing American school children, while national, state and local officials do nothing to prevent it, is destroying America. With absolute certainty, the rest of the world knows America is not “one nation, under God”, because America does nothing to stop the school massacres. It is crystal clear the so-called American “adults” are only capable of talking and sticking their heads in the sand.
