I will miss being in Big Pine Key this Christmas for these reasons: Mass with Father Tony, drinks at Springers, dancing at the Tiki Bar,raffle at the Moose Club, laughing with friends and people passing through who envy us for living here. I could go on and on. Enjoy! |
Merry Christmas to all my dear friends in the lower keys and big pine. I miss you all deerly and would love to be there with all of you. I hope to get well enough to see you soon. It’s cold up here on the cape and I’m thinking of all your warm hearts and great hospitality. I miss dipping shrimp with terry, riding with Omar and fishing with al, dale and Cindy and the big pine traditions group my friends at UNDERSEAS and lot of others. Sundays aren’t the same without the vineyard and I’m itching to get back. Love and prayers to you all. |

Christmas Sky Show At the end of the day on Dec. 25th, a pair of holiday lights will pop out of the deepening twilight. Jupiter and the Moon are having a Christmas conjunction. It’s a beautiful apparition, visible all around the globe. Even city dwellers, who often miss astronomical events because of light pollution, can see the show. Separated by less than 2 degrees, the bright pair will beam right through urban lights. |

“Rice Pudding” indulgence is greatly appreciated! Our “Universe” was an incredible band! Indulgences, as well,to whomever posted Cheech and Chong’s “Santa Claus!” Dedicated here to Joe Davis, an incredible trumpet player who has passed. He could do this whole bit! Please note, Universe is on to keep NNK solar. Merry Christmas! |
Most of what I read today is that people are not happy, stressed out, lack of real joy and going crazy. Consider what my wife and I do. We go sailing. Yep, every year were cruising about 7 months a year in the Bahamas. We have not found a better cruising ground than there. We live off the sea mostly, enjoy amazing sunsets and meet new cruising friends every happy hour. This life style only cost us about $600 a month (we do get social security)so it is doable. If every day is hectic and maddening, change your life and enjoy it a thousand percent more. Yes, there is a GOD and he lives in the Islands. Merry Christmas. |
You wanted some positive input for the Christmas holiday — when I came across this, I thought this was the kind of thing you had in mind… The idea is simple: Do “26 acts of kindness” — one for each of the 20 children and six adults killed last Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Since NBC News’ Ann Curry tweeted that idea earlier this week, it’s taken off. Thousands have tweeted back to her about things they’ve done. — Donating trees. — Delivering meals. — Anonymously leaving money for a co-worker who’s struggling. — Helping a stranger who’s short on cash in the check-out line. — Donating frequent flier miles to Make A Wish. You get the idea. There’s a 26 Acts of Kindness page on Facebook. It’s had more than 31,500 “likes.” And there are variations on the theme: “20 acts” to focus on the children; “27 acts” to include gunman Adam Lanza’s mother, Nancy, who police say he killed before the attack on the school. Curry writes to those who’ve joined up: “All good. You are in charge of this wave now.” |

I read your introduction to the coco tele yesterday and you sounded just like me. I’m the one who is down, negative and depressed. Especially around holidays. I hate holidays. But I don’t want to see you that way. You have a great thing going with the coco tele and a lot of people enjoy and support what you are doing. The world is getting more and more negative in general so naturally this will be reflected in peoples interests and attitudes. But keep the stiff upper lip, hang in there, stay the course, damn the torpedoes. Sorry I can’t be a better friend and more supportive. |
Don’t be negative Deer Ed. Just because times are tough and people are in a negative mode doesn’t mean that you will have nothing positive to post today. You do a hell of a job and thousands of people follow and belive in what you are doing. Holidays come and holidays go but you are here every day (except Saturday) and keep us all updated about what it means to live here in the keys. I wish you the very best of everything in the coming new year. |

Deer Friends of all political stipes and persuasions. Mrs. FTR and I wish each of you and yours a holiday season that is full of joy, comfort and hope. This time of year is of very special importance to Christians and Jews. We wish all of our Jewish and Christian friends’ great joy throughout the entire year, and especially during these special days. We especially respect the courage of all persons who ardently hold deep religious beliefs. We especially respect the manifest good works accomplished by faith based charities. To our many friends who have deep convictions of the existence of a superior being, but are uncomfortable with organized religion, we wish you well and we wish you the confidence and comfort of your beliefs. For our friends who abjure belief in a superior being: we hope that you will find comfort, wisdom, and happiness in your secular pursuits. Having said all of that, in our culture, these times are most widely associated with reverence for Christ. Therefore, we wish you a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, or simply Happy Holidays. Mr. and Mrs. FTR |
