On Monday, November 11th at 11AM in the auditorium at the Upper Keys Murray Nelson Government Center there will be a Veterans Day Ceremony. Our distinguished United States Coast Guard Honor Guard will be marching in to start off the event. The prestigious Community Band will brilliantly perform a melody of compositions honoring our Nation’s Veterans.
Some “Everyday Veterans”, along with students and leaders from our extended communities will share what Veterans Day means to them. Recently produced videos paying tribute to the sacrifice and service of our Veterans will be shown. Our County Director of Veterans Affairs will deliver an important message for Veterans and their Families.
Thanks to American Legion Post 145, the “Big Red One Blood Donor Bus” will be located outside accepting donations. If possible, please consider attending.
Thank you, John Donnelly
If you just got a property tax bill for Charlotte County, as I did, you can toss it into the recycle bin. Some idiot mistakenly misaddressed a whole bunch of tax bills to Monroe County. I called N. Carolina this morning and they said it was all a mistake. I then asked if I paid the bills, would I own the properties? He said no, but the real property owners would be pleased that I paid their taxes.
Payday loans offer quick cash for a fee to borrow the money for a short time. You walk out with the money you needed and a plan to pay it back in a few weeks. Easy, right? Not exactly. Learn how payday loans work and understand why paying them back isn’t always as simple as it sounds. Link
[Failed Revolution] This week’s hurricane hit Cuba and knocked out their electricity again. When are the Cubans going to say “enough” and revolt? The problem with that is no one under 60 knows what it’s like without socialism. That’s all they know. They don’t know what the rest of the world is like, only the crap their government feeds them. They don’t even see fashion magazines or travel magazines. They know nothing. After 60 years of Revolution they still don’t have reliable electricity and the water is not clean enough to drink. Not enough food or medicine. The Revolution failed. They are worse off now then they were under Baptista. What’s the difference between Baptista’s secret service and Castro’s?
[Rip-off] Winn Dixie is making a killing on its goods and my money. The 3 liter can of olive oil was $23 — yesterday it was over $45! Someone is cheating us.
[Friday Joke] Blonde 1: “I had a pregnancy test yesterday.”
Blonde 2: “Were the questions hard?”
[Wooden Satellite] Wooden skyscrapers, now wooden satellites! The world’s first satellite built using wooden parts. More specifically, LignoSat is made with honoki, a magnolia tree native to Japan whose wood was historically used to craft samurai sword sheaths. Link
[Friday Joke] I’m pretty sure my Wife is hinting that she wants a new watch for Christmas. Every night when I come home from drinking with the guys at work, she’s waiting in the kitchen to ask me if I know what time it is.
My friend told me she wouldn’t eat beef tongue because it came out of a cows mouth. So I gave her an egg!
[Computer Club Meeting]  Saturday (tomorrow) November 9, 10:30a.m. at the BP Community Center, Winn Dixie Plaza
Discussion: How lucky we were to be bypassed by the latest hurricane again.
Also under discussion: computer stuff. Full Menu > Ongoing Events > Computer Club

[New AI Search] Watch out, Google. After a limited testing period, OpenAI is opening up its ChatGPT web search tool to all users. The rollout starts with those paying $20 a month for ChatGPT Plus, but OpenAI says it’ll show up for everyone, whether they’re subscribers or not, in the coming months.  If you find ChatGPT web search superior to whatever you’re already using, you can install a browser extension that will work in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and any other browser based on the Chromium code. It’ll essentially replace Google in your browser: So web searches run from the browser address bar will launch ChatGPT, for example. Link
[?] My cousin was a successful gigolo but last week he told me his business had died.
[?] Why in hell does someone post a pic of two females, same age, and then label it “Mary Jones”? Hello, which one is Mary Jones, Duh!
Some of the weirdest things to ever wash up on the beach. Our oceans are full of wonders and–unfortunately–strange garbage. Video
[Friday Joke] I lost my job at the bank on my very first day. A lady asked me to check her balance, so I pushed her over.
[The Dark Ages] Allowing the Church and religious zealots to run the world has been tried before.  It’s known as the Dark Ages for a reason.
[Plug Chart] Most people don’t spend a lot of time thinking about electrical plugs and receptacles. They take it for granted that just about any power cord will end in a plug that fits neatly into that socket it the wall.
But the pros know that there are more configurations for plugs and receptacles than the average person ever dreams of, with blades of many sizes and shapes. That’s because, once you get beyond the requirements of simple household appliances, you’ll need circuits that deliver more power with higher amperages, voltages or both. Link
