Python found in Key West yard. The roughly 3-foot ball python was discovered by residents as it was hiding underneath some decking and a pool pump equipment. The snake was not the larger Burmese python, which are one of the largest snakes in the world and can grow to roughly 18 feet. Ball pythons tend to only grow to be between 4 and 6 feet. |

 Benjamin Curry “Dink” Bruce, 76, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020. Dink passed at his home in Livingston, Montana. Dink was born in San Francisco. Dink loved to say, “I left my umbilical cord in San Francisco,’’ but no one would argue he wasn’t a fifth-generation Conch. His family moved from Green Turtle Cay in the Bahamas to settle in Key West during the 1830s. In the 1850s, Dink’s great-great-grandfather, Benjamin Curry, brother of William Curry, Florida’s first millionaire, built the family house at 610 Southard St. on the corner of Simonton St., which included the carriage house that Dink converted to his home in the 1970s. Dink’s ancestors were an integral part of the history of Key West, with some serving positions as mayor, postmaster, U.S. Marshal and City Engineer. Some might say that Dink was a kind of unofficial mayor, regularly telling the city government what it needed to do, and when.
Dink’s mother, Betty, was a painter and cook of great talent who served for 20 years as the first local historian at the Monroe County Library, establishing the current Florida History Department. Toby Bruce first came to Key West with Ernest Hemingway as a carpenter and handyman. The relationship grew into a lifelong friendship between Ernest, Toby and Betty, continuing until the writer’s death in 1961, when Toby served his friend for a final time as one of Ernest’s pallbearers. |

| [Dolphin Release] Since the National Aquarium set a 2020 goal to retire a pod of dolphins to a seaside sanctuary either in the Florida Keys or the Caribbean, rising seas, pollution, algal blooms, natural disasters and the ongoing coronavirus pandemic have scuttled that effort and most likely eliminated the Florida Keys as a prospect. |

| [Kiddie Porn] The newest movie “Cuties” seems to be causing quite the stir due to the graphic sexual scenes that are soft, child pornography. I chose to watch the movie and draw my own conclusion. The exploitation of young girls is not the first thing you need to be worried about with the show. As a family therapist who works with young girls, Cuties is far more damaging than the graphic dance scenes. The movie portrays the “cool girls” (AKA Cuties) as the desirable group to be a part of. The main character overhears the group of girls watching pornography and discussing the normalization of providing blow jobs and discussing the importance of penis size and gets worse form there.
