summerland-key[“Melody Key is formerly known as Money Key just South of the Seven Mile Bridge”] Deer Ed: Oops. Your map and editing of the post describing Money Key being “just South of the Seven Mile Bridge” was el wrongo. There is a Money Key off the Seven Mile Bridge, but that is not the one for sale.

You even posted this part of the submission, ““This is an Online Auction of Melody Key + a Mainland Lot and Dock on Summerland Key” yet you still chose to post a map and edit the post to fit where you thought it was.

The island up for online auction is Melody Key, and is formerly known as Money Key. It’s off Summerland Key east of Kemp Channel. Here’s a link for pictures & rental info on the place. Link

This is the same island a band member from 311 owned for a brief time. I knew the original owners. It is now owned by a family from England. There have been extensive renovations done to the property. I pass the place everyday on my boat.  (Ed: I can’t find it on the chart. Is it on the chart?)

Sounds like that Donnelly guy can wear any kind of hat he wants to, as far as I am concerned.  I don’t care what any “hero” says about it.

[Grinder Pumps] There is a less expensive solution to individual grinder pumps. I have talked to people that were told that if they refused to put in the grinder pump their house would be condemned. I have been told that if you don’t give an easement to your property for the grinder pump you can pay to put it in and maintain it yourself. I have been told by people that they have been told that a lien would be put against their home if they did not pay the $4500 fee. I think this issue is important to all homeowners in the Keys. It will also determine what this plan will cost us all.

[Marathon Journal] The Journal interviewed Monroe County Commissioner David Rice. David has been in public service for quite a long time. His steadfast leadership has improved Monroe County. His ability to work well with the other commissioners has been invaluable.

What’s going on? He talked about the 7-Mile Bridge sticker shock. Will FDOT help? FDOT wants Monroe County to take title. If that happens, their needs to be a long-term plan to update the bridge. All options need to be explored like having a referendum.

Sewers, stormwater, roads: Duck Key flooding has been fixed. The French drain was clogged. Link

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_drain

will tell you more about French drains. Key Largo is on their own sewer project with repaving roads once finished.

How’s life: Life is good, no complaints. He has a year left before either retiring or working on his reelection. Dave also talked about health benefits his own and county employees.

Taxes: Taxes are good, only a small 2% raise. A small amount of the increase went to employee raises. Otherwise, spending is down. The reserves are going to be built back up, because that is, among other important things, insurance against a hurricane or other natural disaster. Overall, the county cut people and spending to make it this far into the Great Recession.

Top three: One is the apportionment of the state’s 50 million dollars for wastewater systems. Second is a long term plan for land acquisition. There are properties that will never be buildable, and the county will more than likely have to purchase that property. Third is an acceptable plan to repair or rebuild the 7 Mile Bridge. A short-term problem is to apply the correct amount of funding for the Marathon Seafood Festival. Heads in beds is always an important factor in the slow economic growth.

Last thoughts: Did you notice the 150 palm trees in front of the Marathon Airport? The upcoming designation of Marathon as a port of entry is crucial to the Keys economy. Many of us think things are about to change when the Castro boys meet their maker. Of course, every day alive is very important – for us.

The sex offender registry is a good thing if it is justifiable, but getting on that list for bad accusations is a mounting problem. In most countries, every woman and man would be on that list for underage molestation. Ever been to the orient, middle east, Africa or S America, there are no laws there. If that are they they are not enforced.

[“Want to own an Island”] The post is inadvertently referred to two different Islands, both originally named Money Key. One is south of the Seven Mile Bridge. The other is south of Summerland Key. The one south of Summerland is the one for sale. The one that can be seen from the Seven Mile bridge has no home or dock and is not worth much as it may not be developed.

pot14[Neighborhood Surprised] Thursday turned out to be the biggest bust in North Port [Near Ft Myers] history. The Cubans renting behind me and their “brother” renting next to me were growing pot and manufacturing meth. I had told the landlords of both properties that something was up back in March when I found mysterious hoses in the creek, but they didn’t want to believe me. “Best renters we’ve ever had” both landlords told me.

One house was totally gutted while the people lived in the other house. Turns out there wasn’t a brother, both houses were rented by the same person.

Cops told me they used the creek as a reservoir for grow system. After I discovered the hoses they abandoned the creek and got an above ground pool which they used as the reservoir.

It’s sad for the couple and their children, one was only 8 months old and were taken by CPS, but they chose to pose as a cover for this Miami MJ and Meth Mafia.

They stole electricity from FPL which they accessed on my property! I’m so creeped-out knowing they were sneaking around my house. No wonder some nights my dog would go off barking. Link

[Separation of Church & State] That means just that. You can’t let favored religious icons from one religion on public property and disallow others. You can’t have any! That should be clear enough for everyone. If you think it’s not fair just change the Constitution. The founding fathers put that clause in there for a purpose. A manger is a religious symbol and should not be on government property just as a Star of David or Crescent should not.

[“Disruptive religious displays on public property”] Quit your whining. A gay pride celebration pisses you off! What’s the difference? Someday you might figure it out.

[No Separation of Church & State] When are you religious people going to come out? You portray religions as though they are something real, something everybody should believe in, but you start wars, treat races differently, play politics for profit, do everything you can not to pay your share of support for America, and your controllers, the nuns, priests, rabies, and strange bed fellows, do little for this planet except take from the poor and live like they are superior! Admit it is all a racket, a con, a manipulation for power, riches and egomania, then go get a real job on a farm somewhere. You people are very ill.

Has anyone else noticed that the longer the Tea Party Congress is office and the farther down their approval ratings are dropping how much angrier they are getting? They don’t even comment anymore its usually just whine, whine, whine about America. They are all the way down to insulting Canadians about their country’s healthcare.

I guess its not enough to hate your own country they want to expand into hating Americas closest ally. Poor folks. But then they don’t even realize that Medicare and Medicade are by the very definition Socialized medicine.

The article about George Soros was not written by Steve Kroft, he did not write any portion of it. The original was an article penned by Jim O’Neill and published on 15 September 2009 under the title “Soros: Republic Enemy #1.”

And yes, Sorros is Public Enemy #1. Nothing in the article is reported to be incorrect except the Author.

Top ten indicators your employer has changed to Obama’s health care plan:(10) Your annual breast exam is done at Hooters.(9) Directions to your doctor’s office include “Take a left when you enter the trailer park.”(8) The tongue depressors taste faintly of Fudgesicles.(7) The only proctologist in the plan is “Gus” from Roto-Rooter.(6) The only item listed under Preventative Care Coverage is “an apple a day.”(5) Your primary care physician is wearing the pants you gave to Goodwill last month.(4) “The patient is responsible for 200% of out-of-network charges,” is not a typographical error.(3) The only expense covered 100% is Embalming.(2) Your Prozac comes in different colors with little M’s on them (1) You ask for Viagra, and they give you a Popsicle stick and duct tape.

[Obamacare] Illegal orders via false pretenses, as every soldier knows, aren’t legitimate. Even if the Supreme Court declares the process to be legal, it still has to pass the truth test. Obamacare never did and likely never will as its foundation is laid in falsehoods and hidden in 2000 pages of gobbledygook that simply defy logic.

[“America deserves better”] I agree! Dump both parties. That means your beloved GOP too!

from the right

lightening rain tree no leavesIt was a dark and stormy night … whoops, wrong item.  But in retrospect, what is swirling around us is a dark and stormy night.  In fact we’ve got two huge storms roaring around us. Hurricane Barry 1 aka the ACA has made landfall and its effects are being felt coast to coast. It makes most hurricanes look like a wet sneeze.

USA Today is reporting that hospitals are firing thousands of health care workers because of Obamacare. Health care providers announced more layoffs than any other industry last month — 8,128 — mostly because of reductions by hospitals, according to outplacement firm Challenger, Gray and Christmas. So far this year, the health care sector has announced 41,085 layoffs, the third-most behind financial and industrial companies. Even the Cleveland Clinic is being forced to shave its annual operating costs by $330 million. The ACA has struck doctors especially hard. Throngs of private practitioners have begun refusing Medicare and Medicaid patients because of substantial reductions in M/M payments, many are giving up the practice of medicine. They simply feel that they can’t afford it. A very recent Deloitte Survey of U.S. Physicians found that “six in 10 physicians (62 percent) said it is likely many of their colleagues will retire earlier than planned in the next one to three years.”

The American public is becoming more and more aware that for many, if not most people, the ACA will actually increase the cost of their health care. A huge segment of our population will be forced to take on an expense that they had not previously had or needed. Health care insurance. The ACA was sold as snake oil. The American public was led to believe that it would provide “free” health care. It doesn’t. You must buy ACA approved insurance. None of the policies will pay for the full cost of medical treatment. Typically they will pay only about 60% of the cost of medical care that you recieve.

Of course we all know that the roll out of the ACA has been an unmitigated disaster. Nearly 2 weeks into the mess, Team Obama either can’t or won’t tell us how many people have signed up. That beggars belief.

hurricane30Barrycane 2 is the fiscal meltdown that is staring us in the eye. If you set aside all of the different postures and developments that change daily on both sides of the aisle, the issues are really pretty simple.  The Democrats believe that amassing more debt than you can pay back is  sound fiscal policy. The Republicans believe that there is nothing wrong with manageable debt, but that not having a means or even a strategy to pay off that debt is a recipe for fiscal disaster.  Hell, the Democrats insist on digging us deeper and deeper into debt. Now, in general, we are not repaying the money that we currently owe, we are simply making interest payments.  If you were foolish enough to permit your personal finances into such a state, think of the ultimate personal affect that you would suffer. Bankruptcy.

It’s disturbing that Obama, and the Democrats, will not even talk about a way to more sensibly spend our national treasure. They will not discuss reform of entitlement programs which consume the lion’s share of our expenses. And, like iguanas, entitlements increase exponentially every year. Our nation was founded on compromise.

Medicare and Medicaid are projected to grow faster than the economy overall as the population matures. No one can deny that we must borrow money in order to fund entitlement programs. No one can deny that we now must borrow money to even keep our government afloat. In FY 2013, just ended, our interest payments alone amounted to $415,688,781,248.40. Our national deficit is about 6 times what it was in 2007. Our national debt is about double what it was in January 2007. Please remember that it was Obama and the Democrats who excoriated GWB for excessive spending.  They called it unpatriotic.
