[Picnic Island Ferry] Unless something has changed, most folks don’t know that Picnic Island is privately owned. Yep. The owners are the Spottswood family. Don’t get too attached to all the plans you have for ferry service, tiki huts, and parties on private property. I do understand that as long as it’s well maintained the owners are OK with your use of it. Just OK, not overjoyed. Just OK. Maybe a little public thank you is in order to Spottswood, Spottswood & Spottswood. I’m sure it would not hurt. http://www.spottswood.com/ |

Major kudos to the person acknowledging the amazing firefighters from Arizona. The tragic loss of their lives is beyond words. They had just contained the Gila fire, Aldo Leopold territory, in the great state of New Mexico where it seems we are now annually indebted to them. I’m stunned! |
[Term Limits] The only way to fix America and restore honor and dignity to government is with term limits. One 6 year term for the President, and 2 six year terms for Senators and Congressman. They can run again after they are out of office for six years. What is wrong with having a government that works and not always running for electing instead of doing the people’s business? |

[Picnic Island Ferry] OK, you don’t have a boat, you want the ferry so you can party and have the captain deliver you safely to shore. And then what? Put your drunken self behind the wheel of a car with your friends and drive home? |
The difference between Pigeon Key and Picnic Island is that Picnic is crowded on the weekends and Pigeon Key is mostly deserted just like during the week. |
[Cyber Spies] In 2006, the Department of Defense gave the go-ahead to the NSA to begin work on targeting the Iranian centrifuges. One of the first steps was to build a map of the Iranian nuclear facility’s computer networks. A group of hackers known as Tailored Access Operations—a highly secret organization within the NSA—took up the challenge. They set about remotely penetrating communications systems and networks, stealing passwords and data bythe terabyte. Teams of “vulnerability analysts” searched hundreds of computers and servers for security holes. Armed with that intelligence, so-called network exploitation specialists then developed software implants known as beacons, which worked like surveillance drones, mapping out a blueprint of the network and then secretly communicating the data back to the NSA. (Flame, the complex piece of surveillance malware discovered by Russian cyber security experts last year, was likely one such beacon.) The surveillance drones worked brilliantly. The NSA was able to extract data about the Iranian networks, listen to and record conversations through computer microphones, even reach into the mobile phones of anyone within Bluetooth range of a compromised machine. The next step was to create a digital warhead to destroy the centrifuges–the Stuxnet virus. |
Keys Energy Services has connected a private solar system to the public power grid on No Name Key, a first for the small community. Kathryn Brown became the first solar grid-tied customer on June 28. A special meter was installed at the home that will monitor her consumption and the energy she sells back to Keys Energy. The utility says it has offered a renewable energy net-metering option since 2008, and now has 29 such connections. It allows Keys Energy to buy back excess energy produced by privately owned renewable energy systems in its service area. |

[Character of Congress] Now more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature … If the next centennial does not find us a great nation…it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.” ~ James Garfield, 1877 |

Happy 4th of July Florida Keys. Thanks Deer Ed for connecting the islands. |
Does not supply and demand dictate the more of something there is, the less it’s worth? Then with all us people on this little rock in space, humanity is really worth close to nothing. Right? |

[Battle of Gettysburg] The South had won the last 7 battles leading up to Gettysburg. They had momentum and confidence up to that point. I wonder how things may have turned out if the south would have been able to capture the “high ground” at Missionary Ridge and if Stonewall Jackson were still alive. He fell to “friendly fire” weeks earlier. He was Lee’s right hand. |
[Choices] Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It’s not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make. |
White man’s skull has Australians scratching heads. The centuries-old skull of a white man found in Australia is raising questions about whether Captain James Cook really was the first European to land on the country’s east coast. The skull was found in northern New South Wales in late 2011, and police initially prepared themselves for a gruesome murder investigation. But scientific testing revealed that not only was it much older than expected, but possibly belonged to a white man born around 1650, well before Englishman Cook reached the eastern seaboard on the Endeavour in 1770. I was never prejudiced. I never was taught to be prejudiced. The OJ trial, The LA riots when Reginald Denny was pulled out of his truck cab, the words in rap music, Obama, going to the Miami VA and now the Zimmerman Trial; these are making me prejudiced. I don’t want to be that way but they started it. Don’t Blacks know that Americans died at Gettysburg in great amounts for equality and justice for all. Why can’t we all just get along. |
[“You can rent downstairs enclosures again”] This is the trashing of the Keys for sure. Who wants transit trash under their house, except other low rent mentalities? It is disgraceful to allow this in million dollar neighborhoods and developments. Also, anyone in my area that does this better be a permitted, register, insured landlord and pay their damn taxes, sewer hook-ups and fees. Can I advertise in Haiti for tenants? |
[10th Commandment] Money enslaves us. People who believe money can set you free are deceived twice. If you do not have money you will always chase it and if you have it you will always be guarding it and protecting it. Life was never meant to be lived the way we are living it. We were given the tools and the fruit to prosper and multiply. But somewhere along the way we were deceived and blinded by false gods. Now we sit and point, wanting and wishing to have what others have accrued. Instead of being thankful for what we have. So on this July of fourth this year take a moment to be thankful for what we have and those who make it possible for us to have it. Give a shout out to all those soldiers who are serving and have served before them. Happy fourth of July to those of us fortunate enough to live in the Keys. |

[Picnic Island Ferry] It is my understanding the trip to the daily drunk fest will be a five hour trip. So the half hour that it takes to get there and the half hour it takes to get back leaves to passengers four hours for a great drunken orgy. Picnic Island already has a reputation as the place to go to enjoy a little debauchery. When and where can I buy tickets? |

Got to love Rick Scott the State of Floridas spinmeister. His supporters will tell you that hes bringing in boatloads of jobs and hes not offering the companies anything but an educated workforce and solid business opportunities. Lets take 1 example. Deutsche Bank was thinking of moving to either Jacksonville/Nashville or Charlotte, N.C, as a site for a company expansion. In the summer of 2012 the State of Florida and the City of Jacksonville offered the bank $1.45 million to create only 260 jobs. Then after that the Jacksonville City Council agreed to partner with the state to offer $2.08 million in tax incentives to Duetsche Bank in exchange for only 300 jobs. This is the reason the Florida Intellifact meter reading on Rick Scotts rhetoric is ranked as a “liar, liar pants on fire”. He pegged the meter. I must admit though that at least Rick Scott did say something not his usual ‘I take the 5th amendement” answer. Its better to just lie then go there again. |
[Climate Change] Study Falsely Classifies Scientists’ Papers, according to the scientists that published them. The paper, Cook et al. (2013) ‘Quantifying the consensus on anthropogenic global warming in the scientific literature’ searched the Web of Science for the phrases “global warming” and “global climate change” then categorizing these results to their alleged level of endorsement of AGW. These results were then used to allege a 97% consensus on human-caused global warming. (Continues below in Long Winded Tomes…) |

[“Obama goes back to Africa; Republicans still not happy”] Republicans are not unhappy with Obama because he went, it’s because he didn’t stay! |
The abortion issue is really getting nasty in Texas. The abortion on demand crowd has actually hired protesters. Texas State Senator Wendy Davis is their equivalent of Joan of Arc. It is incredibly ironic that Davis herself was the child of a single mother. Davis also, was a single teen mom. Wendy Davis — the 50-year-old Democrat who stood and spoke for 13 hours Tuesday at the Texas Capitol — went from being a teen mom to graduating from Harvard Law School. Davis and her mom prove that children of single moms can and do thrive. If Davis’s mom had opted for abortion, her cause would have been denied a talented champion. Senator Davis began working after school at age 14 to help support her single mother and three siblings, according to her campaign website. “By 19, Wendy was a single mother herself, working two jobs to make ends meet in hopes of creating a better life for her young daughter.” It’s astonishing that she’s not a conservative! It strikes me that Senator Davis should be a poster child for the Right to Life movement. Nonetheless she is a staunch supporter of abortion on demand. The pro death crowd and it’s arguments are really getting nasty. Death threats, harassing emails, phone calls, and vicious calls for their daughters to be raped are among the hate targeted at pro-life lawmakers from the contingent of abortion activists upset that Texas would consider banning killing babies at viability. These people seem to be as addicted to threats and the death of infants. The issue is not that the new legislation is to ban abortions, it is only to change the legal gestation period from 25 weeks to 20 weeks. Oh yes, there is one other proviso of the proposed law. That is to provide for the examination of and requiring minimal safety standards for abortion mills. Part 2) It looks like Obamacare is flat lining. Team Obama has just admitted that it is not working by announcing that they have decided that they will not enforce Obamacare on businesses until 2015. It was due to go into effect in 2014. Business had screeched that it would wreak havoc on them and would result in loss of jobs and a contraction in our economy. It looks like they were right, and that Obama is admitting it. The dirty little truth is that even though employers will be exempt from the 2014 implementation of Obamacare, the employees will have to sign up. It will cost them big bucks. In one respect the decision is “deliciously devious” because the effects of Obamacare will not be fully known until after the mid term elections. Obamacare is certain to further screw up our economy. Any slowing of our economy, any increase in unemployment would be fatal to Democrat aspirations to gain congressional seats. Yep, Obamacare is a pox on the land. The nation’s largest health insurer, UnitedHealth Group Inc., is leaving California’s individual health insurance market, the second major company to exit in advance of major changes under the Affordable Care Act. Thousands will lose their health insurance. Remember the Obama promise that if you liked your policy you could keep it? Perhaps you will recall the forecast that many doctors would quit the practice of medicine. Apparently that forecast was correct. Houston Texas media outlets are reporting that many doctors are shutting their doors because of the impact of Obamacare. One Doc is quoted as saying: “It will hurt me, but it will hurt my patients more.” Part 3) Hopefully you will remember Obama’s speech about 2 months ago wherein he spoke of the IRS misfeasance by saying that he had reviewed the IG’s report, then he said that the IRS conduct was “inexcusable”, then he promised to “hold the responsible parties accountable.” That was comforting wasn’t. There is one slight problem. Not a freaking thing has been done by the Obama admin since then. As I type this not a single one of the scores of conservative groups that had been targeted by the IRS has been contacted by the FBI. Deer Friends, Investigation 101 teaches us that the first persons to be interviewed in an investigation is the victims. Team Obama is waiting and hoping that all of this will just blow over. By the way, did you know that there we 71% more “authorized” federal wire taps last year than the year before. What’s up with that? |
LONG WINDED TOMES |
continued … To get to the truth, Emails were sent to a sample of scientists whose papers were used in the study and asked them if the categorization by Cook et al. (2013) is an accurate representation of their paper. Their responses are eye opening and evidence that the Cook et al. (2013) team falsely classified scientists’ papers as “endorsing AGW”, apparently believing to know more about the papers than their authors. Link
14,000 Abandoned Wind Turbines in the USA. The US has had wind farms since 1981, what the left and the green movement don’t want to talk about regarding windmills is (as usual) the truth. The truth is: windmills, like solar panels, break down. And like solar panels, windmills produce less energy before they break down than the energy it took to make them. That’s the part liberals forget: making windmills and solar panels takes energy, energy from coal, oil, and diesel, energy that extracts and refines raw materials, energy that transports those materials to where they will be re-shaped into finished goods, energy to manufacture those goods. More energy than those finished windmills and solar panels will ever produce. Link cAGW is the accepted acronym for catastrophic anthropogenic global warming. Remember when you try to have a conversation with one of the flat earthers or Neo nazis youre a “Denier” Not for thinking climate doesn’t change mind you. The Cult demands you accept that the changes will be catastrophic for all life on earth and that only humans are causing it or you’re a denier. It must be an unprecedented event for the universe or youre a denier. You see you cannot generate fear and hate if the climate changes were benign. You couldn’t get the cult to curl thier lips and sneer the perjorative hate they love so much if these were climate events similar to those of our past. The cult would have no enviro-prophets to worship if we didn’t need to be saved from our sinful consumptions. No Ed. We are percipitating Gaia’s fury with unprecedented catastrophic anthropogenic global warming. Oh yea, and only a Democrat can save us. No wait, I meant screw us, Sorry. |
