[Goodbye Jimmy Buffett] In the end, the death of Jimmy Buffett serves as a somber reminder that even the most vibrant lives are bound by mortality. The beaches he sang about will remain, the songs he composed will continue to play, but the man who intertwined his identity with those melodies has sailed into the horizon, leaving behind a legacy of music that will forever stir the hearts of those who seek a refuge from life’s harsh realities.
[Department Of Bullshit] I read with interest the post in the September 1, Coconut Telegraph concerning the County’s approach to handling the impacts of sea level rise on the roads in the Florida Keys. The program seems to consist of hiring high paid consultants, having meetings, joining regional organizations, and doing absolutely nothing. The sea encroaches up to, and on to many County roads during high tides. The rate at which the sea level is rising is rapidly increasing and nothing mankind is doing will slow it down.
If the County was going to make any progress, they would have done something years ago. In the meantime, there is a building boom for high density building in Islamorada and Marathon, and other parts of the Keys. Which are creating traffic jams and daily accidents on the same roads, that will have sections under water soon.
Fortunately for the County, the population seems unconcerned and unaware that they are going to face a multitude of problems in the very near future. The solution is not pumps and complicated plans, but simply raising the roads that will benefit the greatest populations for the least money. The price of fill rock, and gasoline has greatly increased in the time that the County has wasted time and money doing absolutely nothing!
There is no end in sight, and time is running out. The time is almost here when you will not be able to get where you are going.
The County Resiliency Program is a facade that does not do anything to solve any of the problems that the residents of the county face. Maybe the County should rename it the Department Of Bullshit.

[Key West Airport Warning] I found out the hard way that passengers flying into or out of Key West are only allowed (in addition to a carry-on and personal item) one checked bag, at least on Delta. I had to leave newly purchased camping gear on the floor of Seattle Airport on my return home to the Keys.
[EVs] Paul, down at the VFW, used to brag about his Tesla all the time until he missed his July payment and it drove itself back to the dealership. He’s got an electric bicycle now.
[Life Expectancy of American Males] Overall, you can expect to see the highest life expectancies in the healthiest states. Additionally, women tend to live longer than men. American men expect to live an average of 76.1 years, while women expect to live an average of 81.1 years, a five-year difference.  Healthiest states according to Google the healthiest State isVermont. Vermont is considered one of the healthiest states in the U.S. Vermont’s adult obesity rate is 29.0%, the eighth-lowest in the country, and its adult smoking rate is 14.8%, the 28th-lowest. Massachusetts, Hawaii, Connecticut, Utah, New Hampshire, Minnesota, and New Jersey.
Maybe I’ll move to Vermont.

(Editor; I’ve been having trouble with the link since I switched form makers. Thanks for taking the trouble to let me know is still doesn’t work. I finally figured it out. I had still a couple of the links directed to the old form page. It’s now fixed, I think. To submit a post:  Contact Us )

Mick Jagger is 80. Mitch McConnell is 81. The benefits of a life of sex, drugs, and rock-‘n’-roll should not be ignored.

[Religion Popularity] Remember that almost all people are of a certain religion because their parents were. It has little to do with beliefs. The only new converts are usually because they are forced on a person in order to get married.

I can’t believe it‘s lockdown season already. I still have my climate change decorations up.
