Big Pine’s Haunted House will be open for haunting tonight, Halloween night, from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Big Pine Community Park. Sponsored by the News-Barometer and the Rotary Club.

Sales Tax vote – there are two problems
1) the government spent too much, some on not very bright things, but nonetheless they spent and regulated too much and we have a problem. We should all be trying to make sure we only spend what we need, and we fund things wisely.
2) how do we pay for #1 – it’s unavoidable that we have to pay. Either it’s our property taxes (which trickles into rent increases) or the sales tax. The sales tax is much preferred – the tourists will pay half of this (which is a fair bill since they contribute ‘half’ the sewage too)

Seems like a no brainer to me – of course, the best answer is if we don’t have problem #1, so we’re left with a choice between ‘bad’ and ‘ugly’ – pick the least painful answer as there are no good choices left.

I think the reason Windows 8 isn’t selling so good is because no one can think of a reason to change operating systems and then have to buy a lot of new and expensive software and apps when the operating system, Windows 7, and the software they already have works so well.

[“Who is a local”]
A local is someone who is registered to vote in Monroe County.
A local is someone who lives in Monroe County year round.
A local is someone who doesn’t have to ask for the “local discount” because they are regulars.
A local is not someone who has been living here for the past 10 years, 3 months every year!

[“In 1890,Oakland,Calif., became one of the first jurisdictions in the country to enact an anti-drug law“] In 1967 the Oakland chapter of Hell’s Angels “reversed” that law and it spread across the country. Still true today, though others are now in control of the contraband. Biggest winners? Our top government officials who set and approve the huge budgets for drug enforcement. The rest of the waste is trickle down graft. Local drug dealers are expendable hirees and expected to take the fall. Don’t like the facts? Legalize drugs and see the outcry from the Congressmen whose fortunes depend on the drug trade. Prove me wrong!

Are there rules about how often you can hold a garage sale? There has been a garage sale at the corner of Ships Way and Journeys End every weekend for a month and they continue to add new items and keep everything tarped in the yard during the week. It looks more like a second-hand store without all the overhead.  It’s annoying for the residential neighbors.

The one and only time I ever backed in was after driving my new pickup from Duncan Auto to the old Hukilau Restaurant for a celebratory drink with my wife. I backed right into one of the large marl rocks lining the parking lot denting the panel below my bumper. The truck had less than ten miles on it.

A local is someone who has eaten at the Sharecropper & The Big Pine Inn, gassed up at Gabby’s, bought their Cuban bread, the kind with the bead that runs along the top at Judds & eaten fresh made glazed donuts at Mr Jims. If you have not done all those things you don’t know jack s**t about locals. Don’t call yourself one. It’s embarrassing to us. You, my friend, are the problem. Get it?

[Extension of Infrastructure Sales Tax]  An uninformed poster, a few days ago, said they would be voting No to the extension of the County’s infrastructure sales tax as they felt that the County hasn’t given them what they wanted, whatever that means.

The infrastructure sales tax will be used to pay for the completion of the central wastewater projects inMonroeCounty, distributed to the cities and incorporated areas.  What the poster fails to realize is that the sales tax revenue that the County receives is paid 50% by our tourists.  They are a major impact on our sewer systems and it is very appropriate that they help fund the construction of central sewers in the Keys.  This IST has been around for 20 years, it is not a new tax, but it needs to be extended to complete the sewer systems county-wide, and make stormwater system improvements.

If the referendum fails, the County and the cities will have to raise those funds by raising property taxes, meaning the tourists won’t be helping. We all need to vote Yes to extend the referendum so half of the cost burden for wastewater is paid by the tourists. Be smart and look for that referendum item on the last page of your ballot — and vote yes! It’s the most painless way to pay for wastewater.

[Idiotic statement of the week]  Quoting Lindsey Lohan from her Tweet,  “Why is everyone in such a panic about hurricane Sally [Actually Sandy]. Stop projecting negativity.  Think positive for peace.”  What a moron.  A perfect argument for pro-choice.  We obviously need much more bleach in the gene pool.

The cost of wind energy for commercial use is absolutely astounding, the acerage involved is mind numbing , along with fighting the environmentalists over the thousands of birds that would be killed daily. In order to keep up with maintenance alone, one must be a virtual steeplejack or else have elevators installed in each unit. However, the talking points as usual, only mentions that the wind is free. [UFO Sighting] Last night I couldn’t sleep, so I took my dog out for a walk with me at about 3:30 in the morning, and I went to the Gulf side down the block from me, here in Big Pine, and saw this orangery/red object hovering over the water in the middle of the bay again. I clearly saw the reflection of the object shining on the water below the object as it hovered over the water. As always, being that I’ve seen these objects in many occasions, I carry my mag-lite flashlight with me, and I began to signal the object with patterns. It began to mimic my patterns as usual. Since I have a new cell phone now, I tried to video record the object but couldn’t since I had my dog on one hand and the flashlight on the other hand, and on top of, that I’m still not too familiar with the video recording operations on my new cellphone, and especially in the dark.

So I dropped the flashlight, and I drop my dogs leash on the ground and was holding the leash down with my foot. Meanwhile, I was able to get the camera on my cell phone to work, and began taking pictures. All of a sudden, the object began to move towards me very slowly. It made no noise what so ever. Finally, as it got closer to me, I was able to see it very clearly! It was about 75 to 50 yards wide. It was somewhere between 100 to 300 feet in the air above me. I can’t be sure how high up it was. All I know is that object was enormous! As it hovered over me. I saw that it was self luminous. The best way I can explain it, is that the outer shell looked more like some type of weird material that was luminous but yet not metallic. Around it was this weird black plasma looking thing that was forming ( best way I can explain it) like, this black lightning patterns that were always connected yet moving around the whole object continuously. It made no noise, at all! I managed to get this photo of it before it went over the trees. My dog began to act nervously and was tugging on the leash while I was trying to get the snapshot I needed as proof of these sightings, that not only I have witnessed in multiple accounts, but also my family, friends and neighbors too!

As it came over me and my dog, my hairs on my arms and the back of my neck rose with this tingling feeling. I’m thinking that the same sensation may have affected my dog too, and that’s why he became nervous and uneasy. As it began to go over the trees, I quickly put my phone in my pocket and grabbed my mag-lite and went to follow it. My dog wanted to go the opposite direction. He was tugging me away from the object. Then all of a sudden the object disappeared in less than the blink of an eye. I know for sure! I’m absolutely positive! That this object was not a “Chinese Lantern” like so many of you claim here, that I’ve been seeing!

There’s no way in hell, that a “Chinese Lantern” is: 1. Going to hover in a particular location while there’s a breeze in the air, and just stay there motionless. 2. In my opinion, it’s impossible that a “Chinese Lantern” is going to be somewhere in the size of 75 to 50 yards wide, and fly in a straight line, while it’s kinda windy.

I see these objects in the night sky occasionally. Ever since my 1st encounter down here in Big Pine. I’ve seen this type of object many times. Another one that me, my wife and my son saw was, 4 boomerang shaped objects that flew over us, and they also were self luminous, but these were a solid greenish color, and made no noise as they whisked over us. We were laying on our lawn chairs in our backyard one night watching the “Perseid” meteor shower when all of a sudden 4 self luminous boomerang objects flew above us in straight formation behind each other. Then the last (4th) one all of a sudden made this 360 degree turn that defies the laws of physics! It then came back shortly, in about 30 to 45 seconds and continued to go the same direction that the other 3 objects went.

The most common of all are the ones I call, “The star foolers”. They look like stars in the night sky, and they flash this red, white and blue lights. They are usually located North, Northeast, East and south east part of our night sky. They look like stars except that they flash these colors continuously, while the “real” stars do not. This is the easiest way to spot them. Once you spot these, and note, (that they always form this triangular pattern in the night sky for some reason), once you spot these, get out a good pair of binoculars and a bright mag-lite flashlight. Start signaling them with your flashlight and you’ll begin to notice that they begin to flash back at you at a greater brilliance, and rate than before you started signaling them. Then they begin to move around in the sky when you continuously signal them with your flashlight, as if they’re letting you know that they’re acknowledging you and vice versa.

My opinion as to why these objects are so abundant down here is 2 things. I believe they’re always in our night sky since we’re so close to the Bermuda Triangle, and another good possibility is, because of our Navy Bases located down here. My son and I did once witness a fighter jet chasing a orangery/red sphere one Sunday at 12 in the morning here in Big Pine. We were outside talking since he had just gotten back from Miami, and all of a sudden we begin to hear the roar of a jet fighter approaching us at 12 A.M.. When the hell do you ever hear a fighter jet fly over Big Pine on a Sunday morning at 12 A.M.. Or even better, when do you hear jet fighters fly over Big Pine? All of a sudden we realize that the roar is coming from the west, where the bases are located. Then we see this enormous orangery/red sphere streaking through the sky heading east, and the fighter jet is closely behind it, chasing it with full thrusters on.

Our jaws drop as we witness this event taking place. Especially that my son is a Navy veteran from operation Iraqi Freedom. All of a sudden this sphere makes a left turn somewhere over Bahia Honda, and the fighter jet makes a sharp left in the attempt to cut the object off in the night sky, and when the fighter jet finally gets close to the object, the object just “Poof” disappears in front of our eyes. We then hear the fighter jet slow down and begins to circle the area where the mysterious sphere disappeared for about 5 to 10 minutes and then finally heads back west towards the base it came from.

So, here you go people! This is what I captured in the night sky last night! WTF is it?

Halal  is the Islamic term that basically means the meat is lawful to eat for a  devout Muslim. What makes it lawful or acceptable is that the meat has  been processed in a very specific way. Unlike kosher food, where the  physical processing of the meat is the focus, for Islam it is the  spiritual component that makes the meat lawful.

For lawful  (halal) meat in Islam, the animal must be killed while the butcher faces  Mecca, and either the butcher cries “Allah Akbar” or a tape plays the  words over a loud speaker.

Never buy meat  that is marked as Halal. I am in the cattle business, and  believe me when I tell you that Halal kill plants are constantly being  cited and shut down by the USDA for horrific infractions. Most of these  plants are in Michigan and upstate New York.  One of the  things that halal kill plants are notorious for is putting already-dead  animals in the human consumption line. They will go pick up a dead cow off of a farm or ranch and instead of putting it in their rendering tank  where the resulting “tankage” is worth pennies on the dollar as pet food or industrial products, they will shackle the dead animal on the normal kill line and process it as human food which is the highest-dollar  product.

Since Islam teaches dishonesty (taqiyyah) and no regard for one’s neighbor, this kind of sickening behavior is standard.

Halal plants are also notorious for general citations for filth and uncleanliness. I have toured normal cattle slaughter plants, and guys, you could eat off of the floor. Everything  is white and men walk around with water hoses and steam guns constantly keeping everything in a state of spotlessness. Halal  plants are filthy. A lot of Halal meat is also labeled as “organic.”
Don’t be fooled into thinking that  “halal” means “better.” It isn’t. I would never, ever knowingly eat  halal meat purely from a food safety  perspective.

[Walmart and solar energy] Monday someone wrote about  how “Walmart saved about $1 million in operating costs after installing solar panels at several of its retail locations.” The poster added that Republicans wouldn’t believe that, or something to that effect, and sure enough on Tuesday a Republican spun how the $1 million savings in operating costs was wrong. I’m always amazed how so many Republicans exist in a state of denial.

America’s president receives world wide endorsements! What foreign leaders & political organizations have come out to publicly endorse president Barack Hussein Obama? Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, Russia’s Vladimir Putin & Cuba’s Castro family all whole heartedly endorse Obama! The Communist Party USA endorses Obama & so does the Democratic Socialists of America. All those wanting to change & transform the United States of America endorse Obama!

France’s new Socialist Party President Francois Hollande stated “maybe he should back Romney”. Why? Because he knows “a Socialist endorsement can be the kiss of death in American politics”. The United Nations warns Americans “Not to elect Mitt Romney!” Doing so would be “a Democratic mandate for torture.” Surprise! The UN endorses Obama! The UN is afraid without Obama their dreams of a New World Order with the UN in total control of the world is destroyed!

Arab Gulf states & Gulf oil sheiks endorse Obama by funding anti-fracking movements & films. Unlike Romney, Obama refuses to start an oil & natural gas energy revolution in America. So of course foreign oil suppliers endorse Obama for president of Our United States! They see eye to eye, keep the Middle East oil flowing into America.

Do any of these people have the best interest of you, your family or your country at heart? No! Of course not! Why then do they all support Obama? Just think… Communists, Socialists & Marxists endorsed Obama, Why? Any speculation why the Obama media fails to report on the growing list of Obama’s anti-American endorsers? Vote Wisely!

[Tobacco Smoke Enemas] We don’t need them, Obama blows smoke up everybody’s ass every day!

If the Republicans win I can see Mitt putting Palin in charge of his new “Loyal to America” Enforcement Agency featuring mandatory signed and recorded loyalty oaths from all citizens and the authority to execute suspected communists on the spot and maybe giving Bachman the forces necessary to weed out non Christians and atheists from this Country while putting lots of prayer back in the schools. Shades of the old Moral Majority. It will all be for our own good, of course.  I can picture Palin striding back in forth in front of me in shiny black stiletto heeled boots while carrying a short feminine sized whip, telling me that I have been a naughty boy and must be punished.  I can’t wait.

The Tobacco Smoke Enema has been reintroduced inWashington, by the Obama Administration. It’ll be part of the new health care program

[FEMA] After being asked repeatedly, mitt refused to answer any questions about dissolving FEMA. Governor Christy who like a fat greasy-faced king whose crown keeps dipping over his forehead to his nose, pointed with his turkey leg to Obama in thanked him for the timely disaster recovery. And former FEMA director under Dubya (whom he called a “heckuva guy” for the way he handled Katrina ) criticized Obama that he acted to quickly. You really have to be proud of that republican party. I think the party is overdue for a drug test.

 From the Right

Yesterday some CT Obama fans were hyperventilating that Romney is determined to shut down FEMA. The posters were jumping with joy thinking that Romney had screwed up and that they would now have a huge talking point.  Deer Friends, it just ‘taint so. You can read the transcript of the debate wherein the Dems claim that Romney was dead set on “shuttering” FEMA at Link

I’ve read it, and Romney doesn’t even mention FEMA. Essentially he said that the states should be in charge of emergency management in responding to storms and other natural disasters. He said that he believes that, as the first responders, states are in the best position to aid affected individuals and communities. He believes that states are in the best position to direct resources and assistance to where they are needed most.  He believes that the most humane and cost effective way to deal with disaster relief is for the states to manage relief.

He makes no mention of closing down FEMA. In the debate he said that the Federal government should play a role. Recently he amplified on his debate comments by telling us that the individual states responses should include help from the Federal government. He specifically included FEMA in those remarks. Romney will not close down FEMA, but he will improve it’s efficiency .  FEMA does good work, but it wastes billions.

Do you remember the 25,000 new, but never used, FEMA trailers that moldered and were scrapped in ’06. FEMA wasted $879 million on that fiasco. FEMA issued thousands of checks and $2,000 debit cards to people whose identities and claims the agency never checked. Perhaps you remember that FEMA spent $416,000 per person to house a few hundred Hurricane Katrina evacuees for a short time inAlabama. If you’re really interested in just how poorly FEMA guards your tax dollars, just google “FEMA waste.”

Politico has just reported that the Obama’s FEMA is not publishing emergency telephone numbers. FEMA expects victims to rely on the internet for advice and succor. Do you suppose that anyone at FEMA realizes that electricity is necessary to run a computer? Read all about it: Link   Isn’t that just so special!

Deer Friends, our friends who play in left field have made so many unforced errors that they are in full panic mode.  That must be so, or they wouldn’t be resorting to shoveling crap that is so easily proven to be donkey dung.

Part 2) Just for fun, let’s explore more examples of left field Donkey Dung. The myth of Romney saying that Jeep production is going to China. Before we look at the facts, please remember that Romney, unlike Obama is four square committed to stopping the bleeding of jobs to overseas manufacturers. Please never forget that GE, a huge Obama supporter has dropped 37K US jobs, and added 25K jobs to their factories in China. By encouraging unequal foreign trading arrangements, Obama prevents the 1.2 million American manufacturing jobs lost since October 2008 from coming back from overseas. Since Obama has been in office, our net sales to China have fallen off of a cliff. In 2009 out net loss was about $265 billion, today our net loss is about $310 billion and dropping like a damned stone.

What follows is the exact quote Romney from the debate that our Dem friends are wailing about: “”…I saw a story today that one of the great manufacturers in this state, Jeep — now owned by the Italians — is thinking of moving all production to China.”. That’s what Romney said. In fact there was such a story in the press. Please take careful not that he said nothing about Fiat actually moving Jeep production to China. In fact the Washington Examiner wrote the previous day that Jeep “is considering giving up on the United States and shifting production to China.” The Examiner’s Paul Bedard also wrote that Jeep is “shifting production of all Jeeps to China, which has a strong desire for Jeeps.”  Please note that Romney merely spoke of the news reports.

Later it was learned that the reports were not entirely untrue. Chrysler is majority-owned by Fiat and hence it is within Fiat’s power to move Jeep production wherever it wants. Bloomberg reported that Fiat “may eventually” make all its Jeeps in China, Bloomberg cited a Fiat exec as its source.  The Toledo Blade reported that Fiat execs now deny any intent to move Jeep production, but the company has not been shy about wanting to build Jeeps in China.  The Blade reports that: “” (Fiat) ..  is simply reviewing the opportunities to return Jeep output to China for the world’s largest auto market.”

The myth that Republicans are “against” solar energy:  That myth is more patent donkey dung.  Look Deer Friends, the left and the right should agree that profit is the engine that drives our economy.  Solar energy and other so called green energy sources have the potential to provide inexpensive and ample energy to serve our society.  It has the potential for great profit and public good. We Right Wing Capitalist Dogs, are all for profit, and the public good. There are many Republicans who have invested in and who currently operate green energy enterprises. The Republican aversion is not to “green” energy; it is to the government subsidizing a chosen few of those enterprises.  We have no problem with government grants to explore new technologies, but we do strongly object to the government subsidizing in the market place.

The 2009 stimulus set aside $80 billion to subsidize politically preferred energy projects. Since that time, 1,900 investigations have been opened to look into stimulus waste, fraud, and abuse (although not all are linked to the green-energy funds), and nearly 600 convictions have been made. Of that $80 billion in clean energy loans, grants, and tax credits, at least 10 percent has gone to companies that have since either gone bankrupt or are circling t drain. For example, the latest Obaflop is green energy failure A123. Obama gave them $250 million. They created, before they failed, only 408 jobs.  The government has no business spending your tax dollars picking winners or rescuing losers in the green energy market place.
