[Sick Seagrape Trees] I am Kim Gabel, the Monroe County Horticulture Extension Agent. I hear there is a discussion on the bigpinekey.com about dying or dead sea grape tree. I work for the University of Florida using the scientific approach to help answer your plant and insect questions for each and every resident and visitor of Monroe County. When looking at what to do about your plant or insect problems contact me first, before going to a garden center to purchase something that may or may not work. One needs to play detective first to determine how the plant has been taken care of and if the plant is stressed by environmental conditions, insects and diseases or a combination of all three. A good place to start is the Monroe County Extension website: http://Monroe.ifas.ufl.edu or call the office at 305-292-4501 or email me with your question with photos of the problem. |
It looks like Obama got a big deal leader of the terrorist group al-Shabaab. Who says he’s not doing anything. He’s killing bad guys. Go O! Link |
Maybe when Randy Acevedo’s wife, Monique, finishes her 8 years in the slammer she can use that sexy UPS delivery costume she bought with our money to get a real job with UPS. I don’t think she will look quite this good though as the last time I saw her she was Jersey-sized. (Full disclosure: I only used this picture cause I know Deer Ed would post it). |

The reasons I cut the cable are not because of the crappy advertising every minute or the lousy programming or the screaming idiot news casters or the same movies over and over again, but because it made me anti-Semitic and anti-black and drove me to get a life! |

[Kids With Guns] Connecticut passed a law that forbids kids under 16 from firing machine guns at gun ranges. We must act quickly and have our Florida legislators pass a law blocking the passage of any such restrictive anti gun legislation in our state. Remember, someday the only thing stopping a bad guy with a gun might be a 9 year little girl with an Uzi. Long live the NRA! |
Deer Ed, Sometimes I am surprised when you attach a contributor’s email. And I imagine that they are too. Here’s a policy that might help. When you have a comment that you are going to attach their email address you should notify them and tell them so, before posting. That way they have the option of “cooling off” or “doubling down” on their point of view. |

[Drop Out] I no longer participate in the democratic process. It is no longer my country, I’m just stuck here. I don’t vote (I can’t change anything. Just look at that election when all of Florida’s votes did not count) I don’t do census, they’re just to allocate money, not for representation. I don’t do jury duty for this corrupt money making legal system, and I don’t do a lot of other things too. |

[First Pooper] What would happen if I connected to the new sewer system today. I already dug the trench and ran the pipe to the street. It would only take me an hour to complete the connection and I could be the first one to send my poop down the line. Think they would mind if I got this job completed early? |

[The Mystery of the Hindenburg Disaster] It was the largest airship ever built; over eight-hundred feet long from its nose to its massive tail fins. It was the height of luxury travel and in the course of two seasons carried over 2,656 people across the Atlantic between Germany to New York and Rio de Janeiro. It was called the Hindenburg and the space of 37 seconds this mighty zeppelin was destroyed in a fire that killed a third of its crew and passengers and left spectators crying in horror. Link |

[Pascal’s Triangle] An amazingly wide range of sequences can be found in Pascal’s triangle. In addition to triangle numbers, tetrahedral numbers, fibonacci numbers and square numbers, cube numbers are one sequence which is rarely discussed but can also be found in Pascal’s triangle. In this article I explain where this sequence can be found in Pascal’s triangle, and why these seemingly unrelated ideas are linked. Link |
[Entitlements] It’s odd that FTR guy railed against the unions seeing that he was a union member his whole police career. And is no doubt enjoying the benefits of said membership. I bet he didn’t pay for his or Mrs FTR’s surgeries out of pocket (he’s against healthcare too unless someone else pays for it). |

[Off With Their Heads] ISIS is trying their damnedest to get the US to bomb or to do anything. They are doing everything they can think of to get us to do something foolish. That’s what they want. [September 3, 1783: Treaty of Paris Signed] The American Revolution officially comes to an end when representatives of the United States, Great Britain, Spain and France sign the Treaty of Paris on this day in 1783. The signing signified America’s status as a free nation, as Britain formally recognized the independence of its 13 former American colonies, and the boundaries of the new republic were agreed upon: Florida north to the Great Lakes and the Atlantic coast west to the Mississippi River. ISIS says it is beheading people to protest American foreign policy. I guess they don’t watch Fox News whose daily mantra drumbeat is that Obama has no foreign policy |
Actually, you *can* fix stupid. It’s called education. That’s why the republicans are against it. |
The Wall Street Journal’s Bret Stephens reports that President Obama is “enraged” at the Israeli government: Barack Obama “has become ‘enraged’ at the Israeli government, both for its actions and for its treatment of his chief diplomat, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. ” So reports the Jerusalem Post, based on the testimony of Martin Indyk, until recently a special Middle East envoy for the president. The war in Gaza, Mr. Indyk adds, has had “a very negative impact” on Jerusalem’s relations with Washington. Think about this. Enraged. Not “alarmed” or “concerned” or “irritated” or even “angered.” Anger is a feeling. Rage is a frenzy. Anger passes. Rage feeds on itself. Anger is specific. Rage is obsessional, neurotic. And Mr. Obama—No Drama Obama, the president who prides himself on his cool, a man whose emotional detachment is said to explain his intellectual strength—is enraged. With Israel. Which has just been hit by several thousand unguided rockets and 30-odd terror tunnels, a 50-day war, the forced closure of its one major airport, accusations of “genocide” by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, anti-Semitic protests throughout Europe, general condemnation across the world. This is the country that is the object of the president’s rage. Well, so much for patching up relations. I’m wondering if, given that Hamas was dropping bombs on his peoples’ heads, whether Israeli Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu had much time for golf and lobster this August. Our president did, even though the same types of people will soon be dropping bombs on our heads too. |
These are trying times for Democrat voters and for Democrat politicos.
Democrats have essentially been running our country for the last 7+ years. They’ve controlled Congress then the Presidency. And now the results of Democrat governance are on full display for all to consider. But now, Democrat politicos who are seeking re-election are shunning, even running away from Mr. Obama. They are doing all in their power to convince the voters that they had nothing to do with our current sad state of affairs. All of the major Democrat initiatives are so unpopular that they are regarded like flatulence in church. Obamacare is reviled by a majority of Americans. Our foreign policy is in shambles. Islamic fundamentalism is exploding, and Mr. Obama tells us that he does not “yet” have a strategy to combat it even though he has been briefed on it for over a year. The Russian Bear is again alive and well, threatening small nations that are adjacent to Russia. Putin holds Obama with disdain, he neither fears nor respects him. It is shameful that America, under Obama, has gone into hiding. Race relations are worsening. Unemployment for blacks is nearly double that of whites. Wages are, at best, stagnant. Most of the new jobs created are part time jobs. Less than half of American adults are working at full time jobs. The number of Americans who consider themselves as being middle class has never been lower. Millions of Americans have given up even trying to find jobs, they now rely on government largess. Our GDP growth since the end of the recession in June of 2009, is dwarfed by nearly every other recovery from recession. More than 2/3rds of Americans are convinced that America is on the “wrong” track. Even hard core Democrats have suddenly realized that Obama’s promises have no value. An excellent example is Obama’s reneging on his promises to the Latin vote that he would take executive action soon on immigration that promise is now void, he tells us that he will wait until after the November elections. So now, we’re seeing that Democrat politicos are doing all in their power to convince voters that they really are not Obama Democrats, but really are very nearly Republicans in their political views. It’s supremely ironic that as often as Obama has thrown people under the bus that now he is being thrown under the bus by his base. Democrat governance is ruinous.
