[Ebola] I have yet to see a news report saying Ebola can be transmitted by coughing or sneezing, but based on what I have seen reported, it seems Ebola is airborne – otherwise, how do medical technicians wearing fully-protective gear get infected by Ebola patients? I keep finding myself wondering how the war birds in the Pentagon, Isis/al Qaeda, Moscow, Beijing, etc. are factoring into their war game scenarios a world-wide Ebola pandemic? I am wondering right now how the end times rapture and the die and go be with seventy virgins tribes are factoring Ebola into their exit plans?

Just a reminder that tan leggings make bad pants. Jersey girls you got to love them!
[Joke Friday] A long haul trucker had been on the road for two months.  He stopped at a house of ill repute and handed the madam $500 and said, “I want the ugliest, fattest woman you’ve got, a stale bologna sandwich and a cheap warm beer.”  The madam said, “But sir, for $500 you can have our most beautiful girl, a steak dinner and a bottle of champagne.”  The trucker said, “Lady, I’m from Jersey.  I’m not horny, I’m homesick!”

We have 3 specials today!
1. Shrimp Salad Sandwich on a lightly toasted bun with one side
2. Chili Cheese Dog with French Fries

Y’all come in and see us!

There are a lot of CT posts bemoaning the lack of competence and/or honesty in government. That said, if you want an honest, highly competent public servant I suggest you vote for Phil Goodman for Mosquito Control Commissioner. This recommendation in no way denigrates the other candidates, it simply recognizes the high degree of competence and forthrightness Mr. Goodman has brought to the position of Mosquito Control Commissioner. He deserves another term.

Take a look at keysso.net mug shots and tell me we don’t have major problems. We need a way to cull the herd fast. What do most of these losers bring to the table of the planet apart from problems and cost to us all? Same losers, same charges. Cops must be truly sick of dealing with theses losers. What a waste of manpower and money.

[Joke Friday] “Wives” My wife asked me why we don’t have oral sex anymore. I told her I’m on a low fat diet. That’s when the fight started!
My wife wondered why we don’t have sex anymore. I remarked, well I do! She’s filing!
My wife and I are going to take a world cruise. She goes East I go West.
I have had many wives in my lifetime, but realized keeping my friends was more important.
If a wife wants a divorce, think back a few years to when she started planning it.

Wives are like grapes on the vine. Some are good for wine, some for eating, some for jelly and some to toss away.

[“Bottled Water”] Bottled water is worse for you than tap water. It has plastic molecules or atoms or something making it taste like plastic. In the Keys we have very good tap water. Miami has some of the best tap water in the country. Why people spend money on bottled water baffles me. As the poster wrote yesterday bottles water taste plastic or some other taste emitted by the cheap plastic bottles.

A few months ago they fired KW City manager Vitas because he negotiated a deal with a retired employee to come back, still receive his pension and receive a really large salary, that was double what the job previously paid. So now  we have former City manager Jim Scholl who retired from the City a few years ago — rehired. I wonder if he is getting his $180K salary and the pension. I sure hope not. Would that be ethical?

[“Holocaust more than Jews”] I’m not surprised to see preoccupation with Jews has come to BPK.com. Let me set you straight. Yes, 6 million Jews and 5 million others were killed by the Nazis. And to the person who put no Saturday BPK.com down to some form of Jewish domination? would you like to set the record straight Deer Ed?

bartender bar blink[Barroom Decorum] There should be some universal bar laws to keep fools from screwing up our libation stations.
1. No pocketbooks on bar tops ever. All bars should provide under-bar hooks for the Bags’ bags.
2. No one allowed in any bar barefoot. Naked chicks are fine, but must have flip-flops on.
3. Everybody must wash their hands after using restrooms and dumping ice buckets.
4. No tourists allowed to eat at a bar–tables only. Kids outside!
5. If it is Happy Hour, no one can order stupid fancy drinks with fruits and umbrellas.
6. All regular customers have priority over freaking tourists 24/7. We have a union you know?
7. Bar parking lots should allow us to ram blocking vehicles without retaliation.
8. No bar shall allow any cop to stalk patrons upon leaving.
9. All bars should clean the freaking beer pipes at least yearly
10. Gin should be the Happy Hour libation 24/7 at half price everywhere.
11. All barmaids must have decent cleavage without tats.
12. All pours must be ponies–or more, and ice must be fill only a half glass.
13. Beer heads must be no more than 1/4 inch.
14. All bar stools must pivot without squeaking and have no splinters.
15. Sink seats must be available for older customers only, 24/7!
Amen

roger-bee-adHey everybody, Roger Cousineau here again! I am going to respond to the questions posed by the From the Right guy on Wednesday.

The Big Coppitt facility is a necessary facility as a lot of FKMCD operates in the Lower Keys. As to its size, recall the Marathon building was built – not without controversy – nearly twice as large as needed at the time; but, thinking forward, it was built and has certainly met that forward thinking as it becomes utilized to capacity! I expect the future of the Big Coppitt building may prove equally useful. I would hate to see a major outbreak of mosquito borne disease with us unable to adequately respond to protect the public and our tourism industry. I don’t view putting the infrastructure in place to protect public health as a “massive waste of your tax dollars.” This slash-and-burn mentality is the same ideology that has cut other human health programs like the CDC and food safety from effectively doing their jobs. However, when it’s time to pony up on that issue, the fingers usually point to the workers with little resources and not to those who cut the funding they needed. I guess this type of thinking, putting public health and safety first and protecting our economy, is the “wrong” that the unelected, governor-appointed incumbent is attempting to right?

Term limits. Every term is limited to four years. All voters in the Keys have an opportunity to turn out anyone not doing the job they expect. I am confident in the intelligence and knowledge of the voters of the Keys and believe that if they are dissatisfied with the job an elected official is doing they will have no problem dispatching them. I would hope that the appointee would not have such little respect for the voters as to believe that they cannot vote undesirables out of office. Perhaps the bigger issue for the appointee is that longevity in office provides a continuity that makes it hard to push his agenda.

There are lots of methods of learning technical operations. Technical publications and the Web are great resources. However, there’s much to gain attending educational opportunities, meeting face-to-face others in the field, and learning innovative techniques that they may have tried with success or failure. If it’s failure, then we have learned what not to do. The appointee stated he sees no value and nothing to learn by networking with others intimately involved in mosquito control. When you have such a high opinion of yourself, that you have nothing to learn from others, then yes, I question his motives and effectiveness. But then when you sit high in your white castle, it must be easy to look down on others who have something to contribute.

Yes, I have a degree in communications and I’m a pretty good communicator. Effectively communicating has proven very useful in the 18 years I’ve worked in real estate. I find one of the best ways to find solutions to problems is through open give and take dialogue. I freely admit that and would like to thank the anonymous poster for again highlighting this attribute.

I am aware of both George Neugent’s and my political party affiliation; perhaps I wasn’t referring to myself specifically in referencing an inability to beat him in a primary. Something to ponder if you really want to know what is likely motivating the appointee. I’m sure he’d like to have seen a term limit on that seat as well.

I am not suggesting any chicanery on behalf of the Republican Party, only to say that when your donation is from the party as an organization the public does not know the specific individuals that make up the donors. Really all the public does know is that they may or may not be Republicans. But this gets to a larger issue of overall transparency or in the appointees’ case, lack thereof. His campaign signs all state “re-elect”; however he was never elected in the first place – he was appointed. He never states specifics about what he wants to do with Mosquito Control, but only speaks in generalities. Yet now here I am responding to an anonymous poster who attacks me and champions the appointee! This leaves a lot of questions in my mind as I am sure it does with other voters.

I’m going to simply gloss over the rest of the poster’s issues:

Learning on the job. The appointee never once attended a meeting of the FKMCD prior to his appointment by the governor; he, like any commissioner, learned FKMCD-specific knowledge on the job;

The loss of the Navy contract has been fully addressed and accounted for by FKMCD staff without the luxury of being micromanaged by the appointee;

Ed Fussell introduced science-based protocols to the FKMCD. Before that, it was seemingly dump-whatever-you’ve-got into the environment and hope for the best. I don’t personally know Mr. Fussell at all other than being told he was extravagant, well paid, and a bit lacking in humility – that last bit something he seemingly shares with the appointee. But there’s no denying Mr. Fussell brought the FKMCD into the modern age and stopped a lot of toxins from entering the environment. I find it sad to summarily denigrate his contribution.

As to the poster’s endorsement of Tom McDonald, Mr. McDonald has made it abundantly clear that his primary purpose in running is to “team up” with the appointee and “reign in the budget / cut spending.” Sounds like the start of a mini Capitol Hill in the Keys to me. I’ve heard nothing substantial out of him either except, as he stated at the forum at Boondocks on 10/2/14, when asked about global warming, “The jury is still out on that,” and “I don’t believe that is a realistic particular [sic] problem.” I guess 2+2=3 for Mr. McDonald because as any CPA knows, math is just a belief system. Either way, Mr. McDonald’s accounting expertise is clearly subtraction.

As for me, Roger Cousineau, I can assure you my primary mission and focus is to:
Protect human health and our tourist economy, which most of us all rely on to live in Paradise.
Provide for the tools that Mosquito Control needs – including infrastructure – to effectively meet the mission, including investigating new and better methods and techniques for accomplishing this task.
Support environmentally sound practices to reduce and replace harmful chemicals with alternatives when feasible without compromising the fight against mosquitoes and mosquito borne diseases.
Promote community outreach programs, and actively participate in them and earn my commissioner salary.
Support an independent, open and transparent mosquito control that is always ready to be proactive, not reactive.
Make use of the resources available to me and the trained and highly educated staff when making sound decisions.

Thanks for your time and thanks for your vote on November 4th.
I’m Roger Cousineau, via an open posting, for Mosquito Control Commissioner, District 2

[From the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Tripoli] Most Americans are unaware of the fact that over two hundred years ago, the United States had declared war on Islam, and Thomas Jefferson led the charge! At the height of the eighteenth century, Muslim pirates were the terror of the Mediterranean and a large area of the North Atlantic. They attacked every ship in sight, and held the crews for exorbitant ransoms. Those taken hostage were subjected to barbaric treatment and wrote heart breaking letters home, begging their government and family members to pay whatever their Mohammedan captors demanded. These extortionists of the high seas represented the Islamic nations of Tripoli, Tunis, Morocco, and Algiers collectively referred to as the Barbary Coast and presented a dangerous and unprovoked threat to the new American Republic.

BurgerFlipperShirt_display[Minimum Skill] $20 Hamburgers or minimum wage? For those fast food employees striking for $15 an hour, let’s do some math.   At $15 an hour Johnny Fry-Boy would make $31,200 annually.   An Private in the military makes $18,378.   A Sergeant with 8 years of service only makes $35,067 annually.   So you’re telling me, Sally and Billy McBurgerflipper, that you deserve as much as those kids getting shot at? deploying for months in hostile environments, and putting their collective lives on the line every day protecting your unskilled butt? Here’s the deal, Baconator, you are working in a job designed for a kid in high school who is learning how to work and earn enough for gas, and hanging out with their equally as goofy high school pals. If you have chosen this as your life-long profession, that’s a different subject that you have failed. If you don’t want minimum wage don’t have minimum skills

[Joke Friday] A large woman, wearing a sleeveless sun dress, walked into a bar in Dublin. She raised her right arm, revealing a huge, hairy armpit and, as she pointed to all the people sitting at the bar she asked, “What man here will buy a lady a drink?” The bar went silent as patrons tried to ignore her, but down at the end of the bar, an owly-eyed drunk slammed his hand down on the counter and bellowed, “Give the ballerina a drink!” The bartender poured the drink and the woman chugged it down.
She turned to the patrons and again pointed around at all of them, revealing the same hairy armpit, and asked, “What man here will buy a lady a drink?” Once again, the same little drunk slapped his money down on the bar and said, “Give the ballerina another drink!”

The bartender approached the little drunk and said, “Tell me, Paddy, it’s your business if you want to buy the lady a drink, but why do you keep calling her the ballerina?”

The drunk replied, “Any woman who can lift her leg that high has got to be a ballerina!”

[“Vote”] The debt ceiling. I love it when a complicated situation can be explained in such simple terms. Democrats don’t understand the debt ceiling. Republicans don’t understand the debt ceiling. Independents don’t understand the debt ceiling. No one understands the debt ceiling!

So allow me to explain. Let’s say you come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood. Your home has sewage all the way up to your ceiling.       What do you think you should do? Raise the ceiling or pump out the shit? Your choice is coming in November.

I love all the comments about how it use to be in the Keys. They take me back to the good old days, that’s how I remember it. I only come back to visit once in a while and it really has changed. I like remembering how it was and not how it is. So very different.
eleanor17Deer Ed:  I just want to start out by saying I was not offended by you calling me a Republican. Some other people may have been offended, but I just take it from the source.   I was glad to see people read my post and wanted to address some of the issues and questions.  Someone asked what would I do.  What I would like to do and what can be done are always two different things in a race.  But I would like developers to be required to create a percentage of their development for employee housing.  Hence, 500 rooms would require the developer to provide 50 units of employee housing.  This would help take the burden off our housing market.   I would encourage the creation of apartments for affordable housing. I would look into the feasibility of building walls along our roads in some areas to help slow the issue of rising sea level, I would like to find ways to get money out of our day trippers.  They leave the most garbage, maybe we can get them to pay for launching their boats and jet skies.  I would like to see liveaboard boaters file salvage plans.  Although the issue of liveaboards seems to be dwindling compared to years ago, it is the homeowner and renter that has to foot the bill to clean up their mess.  Remember, whether it is state, federal or county money used for a project, it is still your money being used. I would like to see term limits for our office.  Most importantly I would listen to the voters. I believe they have the best insight to the issues and the solutions.

As to Paul Roxenberg, President of the Big Pine Key Volunteer Fire Department’s comment about seeing Mr. Neugent in his office.  No offense to you sir, but you have something that Mr. Neugent needs, you have clout, a title and influence with your men.  He will gladly come over the bridge to talk to you.  But what about the little people, the taxpayers of this community that have tried to communicate with him.  My neighbor told me a few weeks ago that it took him 2 years to talk to Mr. Neugent about a property that he felt was being wrongly developed. It was.  Or how about the single mom who had to take a day off from work and drive 70 miles to go in front of the County Commission  to advise them of their own regulations in order to remove roosters from a residential neighborhood.  That is not serving the people.   Mr. Neugent has not carried his district in the last 2 elections.  He is being put upon us by the other districts.  If Marathon wants Mr. Neugent, then he should be running against Mr. Rice.  He knows that I know, that he does not live in our district, that they extended our boundaries to encompass his neighborhood in order for him to run.  That is something I will be fighting against in the future.  District 2 needs someone from District 2 to represent them.  So what will I do?  The best that I can, to represent you the taxpayers and to make sure that your money is spent wisely.

The above was drafted over the last few days and between work and forums. I have not changed my opinion, but I understand that Mr. Neugent’s family is having a health issue at this time and I wish him and his family a speedy recovery. It is not a personal battle that I fight with Mr. Neugent, it is a political one. I will be speaking along with all the other candidates with the exception of Mr. Neugent, tonight at Cabana Breezes. Please come and listen if possible. If you can not attend then please make sure that you come out and vote. It is the one of the many privileges that makes this nation great.  ~Eleanor McAdams

breast-truck17[Killer Boobs] Breasts ads on Moscow vans cause 500 accidents in 24 hours. An advert showing a woman’s bare breasts on the side of vans in Moscow has caused 500 accidents in just 24 hours, said a report. In the ad, a woman cups her breasts with a thin blue strip across her nipples. The advert, which read “They attract” and posted on 30 vans, was part of a PR campaign. More than 500 car collisions were reported in the city as these vans drove around Moscow. One of the motorists who suffered a collision said: “I was on my way to a business meeting when I saw this truck with a huge photo of breasts on its side go by. Then I was hit by the car behind who said he had been distracted by the truck. “It made me late and left my car in the garage and although I am insured I am still out of pocket,” the mirror.co.uk quoted 35-year-old Ildar Yuriev as saying.

Sarafan Advertising Agency, which brought out the adverts, said the company would compensate to all the victims. “We are planning to bring a new advertising format onto the market, encouraging companies to place their ads on the sides of trucks, as we thought this would be a good alternative to putting them on the sides of public transport. “We wanted to draw attention to this new format with this campaign. “In all cases of accidents, the car owners will receive compensation costs from us that aren’t covered by their insurance,” the report quoted a company spokesman as saying.

[“The way it used to be in the Keys”] Back in 1968, I started to walk across the old 7 mile bridge, not knowing how long it was. A woman stopped in an old 49 Dodge PU truck and said, ‘you walkin’ the bridge boy?  You gunna die, boy!’  It was mid summer and I had no water or hat. She drove me to BPK and fed me, and I walked to KW. At the dock on the end of Duval St., I got a beer at the old Chart Room Bar with a couple of shrimpers. There was no Pier House or hotels back than on that end of Duval, just Sloppy’s and Capt. Tony’s. Great days they was! No more!

Looking how messed up the South is from the Mason-Dixon Line on down, I can imagine how low rent the USA would be if the Confederates won the Civil War. We would be another Mexico for sure and Canada would not be there either. The whole world would be a mobile home park.
[“Governor debate”] Beside Scott’s side stepping, it annoyed me that he made such a dramatic deal out of Christ having a fan under his podium, much less Scott finishing off the debate speaking in Spanish for at least the last 30 seconds. If you’re voting in an American election you ought to be able to understand English!

[Combat Troops] Another member of our citizenry voiced his strong opposition to the U.S. putting boots on the ground in the conflict in the middle east. These opinions are all certainly valid as far as their right to place an opinion is valid, however what thinking people want is not general opinions but what is the best answer to the problem that the poster is expressing: How would the poster answer future 9/11s or worse? Their blueprint holy book says we must conform to their ideology or suffer the consequences. So instead of voicing a grand wish, why don’t he engage his mind and send us what he believes would be a more practical solution to the ISIS situation, taking into account the fairly recent past dealings with this group with the world at large. Putting this situation as a Republican or Democrat difference only clouds the problem further.

Maybe I should stay in the Caribbean(Virgin Islands).  With all the problems not being addressed by the Obama administration,  it’s not safe to come home.  Ebola, Muslims, race riots, drug cartels, militarized police, homeless haters, racists, wide open borders, gun grabbers, NIMBY’s, socialists trying to take over the country, global warming nuts, etc.  etc.  etc.  I think I’ll wait until after the election to make a decision!  Maybe then it will be safe to come back to the states.

spyglass hatWhere the hell is the national Democrat leadership on the Ebola nightmare. Forget for just a moment how obscenely ill prepared we were/are for the potential for Ebola in our heartland. Forget that the CDC had no meaningful protocols in place. Forget that the President absolutely refuses to put a travel ban in place.  Forget all of that, then ask yourself why in the hell are Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid stone cold silent on the problem.

Why don’t they publicly urge Obama to ban travel to nations that have Ebola running rampant.

John Boehner’s urging of a travel ban is being ignored.

Face it, its fact, that at least one person, that we know off, with Ebola has arrived on our shores. That person, now dead from Ebola, has infected at least two other persons who now also have Ebola. The index, the first, patient, also came in contact with dozens, if not hundreds of other people enroute to, and on his arrival in America, in his home, and at the emergency room where he waited for hours for treatment. The ER staff checked him out and turned him away. Then he went away and had God only knows how many other contacts with people. On his final admission to the hospital he infected two nurses. Those nurses have had contact with God knows how many other people. One traveled on an airliner after receiving an OK from the CDC officials. God only knows how many people she had contact with. The airliner she traveled on has had many hundreds of passengers since her flight.

Why does the ruling party, the Democrats, refuse to minimize the possibility of other infected persons from arriving on our shores by putting a travel ban in place?

Prior to the Ebola mess, Obama’s obsession with open borders has already lead to the spread of disease.  Prior to the flood of illegal children Enterovirus D-68 was rare in the US. Not anymore.

There is an EV-D68 epidemic in the US. It began only after this year’s surge of unaccompanied alien children illegally crossing the border from Latin America, a region where the virus is more prevalent among young children.  EV-D68, believed to cause polio-like paralysis in addition to flu symptoms. It can be fatal, and it has caused deaths of children in the US.

The surge in EV D-68 in the U.S. became evident in mid-September when the CDC first reported it had reached epidemic levels in six U.S. states: Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky and Missouri.

Given the Democrats penchant to pandering to voting blocs such as Latin’s and Blacks, one must wonder if the Democrat leadership is putting their pursuit of political power above the health of the American public.
