The Great Boatlift of 9/11
moved a half million people in 9 hours. The greatest boatlift in history was spontaneous! This is the best 9.11 video I’ve ever seen. Video

I read somewhere that sandspurs are used to prepare a cancer cure in parts of Mexico, but never found more information on it. Does anybody know what, if any, beneficial purpose sandspurs serve? I also read they are edible, but think I would have to be extremely hungry to pick them. The spikes probably go mushy with some boiling water or maybe they used the young green ones.
Also a quick tip: If you wet your fingers they will not be pricked by the sandspur you are trying to extract.
[“Bad boys”] I have read the CT since my hubby started reading it years ago. I never felt the urge to write before, but the guy wondering about why us gals prefer bad boys deserved a true answer.

I met my husband 30 years ago. He is 4 years my junior. One time I woke up to the guy I was married to at the time talking to some people I didn’t know in our living room. I walked out in a football jersey and nothing else. I saw this young, cocky guy sitting on my floor in leather and boots, hair neatly kept, but longish. Every one of the guys in room seemed in awe of him and a bit scared. I caught his eye and knew he wanted me as much as I did him. It took me 3 weeks to get in his pants. It took him 2 days to beat the shit out of the loser I was living with, who used me and took my cash (I was a stripper at the time) and throw his sorry ass and dog out of his house! 30 years later we are having a monster anniversary party. We still love each other and my bad boy has damn near beat more than a few assholes damn near dead over hurting me or insulting me. I have been there for him and he’s been there for me. So If you drive a Pirus or are scared of guns or worry about what’s going to happen if you stand up and be a man, you deserve the shallow, vain, controlling girls you are going to be stuck with. Us real women, well we like a bad boy that can take care of us. There’s more to life than kids and jobs

[“FKAA hires felon”] I am really excited by the idea of the recent poster who suggested that we demand that FKAA post the resumes of all the people who applied for the techie job that was given to Randy Acevedo.  FKAA stated that he was the most qualified.  The public challenges FKAA to prove that.
made-in-china11[“Lenovo Computers”] I purchased a Dell From Best Buy and the day prior to delivery they called and told me they were out of stock and would send me a Lenova which had more memory and actually cost more, but wouldn’t charge me the difference. So I said OK. After it was installed I was curious where it was made as I never heard of them before. So I researched and found it was made in China. I contacted Best Buy and said I did not want it. I thought that not only it may be a piece of junk, but paranoia crept in and I thought that China would have embedded something to access it remotely. They allowed me to return it and replace it with the Dell I originally wanted. You’d think that the DoD would have thought of this themselves. They are so eager to over pay for everyday items, why go the cheap way when it comes to computers for our Govt. Maybe someone in Purchasing Dept. has stock in Lenovo. I try to make sure I don’t buy anything made in China anymore. Even GE has gone back to having products made in USA again. They said they had too many problems with shoddy work. Also China takes their toxic waste and co-mingles it with other materials that they then sell to us. Stop buying products made in China. It’s hard, but try. American jobs are at stake!.
I don’t understand all the hubbub about grinder pumps. The only thing I have not heard bad about them is that they cause global warming. I have had a grinder pump at my home in Virginia for ten years and have never needed to look at it. It works fine! I’m waiting to hear the usual backlash from this post.
[“Guys, if you like the type of women in the arrest log”] Thanks all the same, but I like meeting the psychotics in my life face to face.

[Bagpipes] Do you think the Scotts knew that bagpipes would become the instrument of choice for funerals? Bummer.
[Exercise] Yesterday’s advice to the fat lady about exercise was right on. So many people think they can just improve their diet and lose weight. They are wrong. You must improve your diet and exercise. Without exercise you’ll always be fat. In the last 30 years obesity in American children has doubled and in adults it has quadrupled. This is mostly due to eating too much processed food and no exercise. Eat real food, cut out corn and artificial sweeteners, fired foods and exercise daily. A woman improved her diet and walked 45 minutes a day. In 3 months she lost 11 pounds. Walking is easy.

Not so very long ago many successful companies put customers first, employees second and stockholders third. Today it seems the stockholders are first, second and third. Customers and employees are necessary nuisances. Most people and the media seem to take the present state of affairs as a given for a capitalistic system. Too bad. Their memories are short and it doesn’t have to be that way.
Look at this raft, I wouldn’t go in a swimming pool in this plastic covered thing, never mind 90 miles of ocean! The Coast Guard and Customs and Border Protection medevaced seven of 16 suspected Cuban migrants found in this raft Wednesday afternoon off Islamorada.

If you don’t watch Fox News you won’t know what is really happening.
Earth’s protective ozone layer is beginning to recover, largely because of the phase-out since the 1980s of certain chemicals used in refrigerants and aerosol cans, a U.N. scientific panel reported Wednesday in a rare piece of good news about the health of the planet.
Crap, I finally got my worrying under control about global warming, rising sea levels, Ebola, illegal immigrants, Jersey girls, termites, bag nappers, grinder pumps and FTR. Then someone mentioned shadow people! I can’t handle it. What’s next, man-bear-pig?
casper ghost11
[“Shadow people”] That is just the latest popular term for ghosts. Just like how séances were updated to “channeling”. The Catholic Church changed Holy Ghost to Holy “Spirit”. Same old bullshit, new name. And as always, there are a host of fools all too willing to believe in this crap. You are the result of 4 billion years of evolution and you think you see Casper in your bedroom? I hold no hope for the human race.

50 Giant African Land Snails were found on a homeowner’s property in Broward County. A news release from the agriculture department said a tip from a Davie homeowner on Tuesday led to the capture of the snails. The largest of the snails was four inches long. The snails reproduce rapidly and consume at least 500 different types of plant. Scientists also say the snails can damage buildings, destroys crops and can cause meningitis in humans. But some people still want to collect, and even eat, the slimy invaders.

[“Our termites don’t cause structural damage”] A poster incorrectly refuted that statement yesterday. I challenge him to cite one example of structural damage (Structural damage is not a door jamb.) by Keys termites. He can’t because there aren’t any. Any damage he cites will most likely be due to water intrusion into the structure. There has never been a structure collapse due to termites in the Keys.

shadow-people11[“Shadow people”] A couple of years ago I wrote about my encounters with shadow people here on the C.T. and as usual everyone ridiculed me with their ignorance. I know for a fact that I am not mentally disturbed or have been doing any mind altering drugs either. But I do believe you as to what you posted about seeing these shadow people. When I first began to see them I began doing research on them, and to my surprise, I wasn’t the only one seeing them. In fact it’s becoming a growing phenomena worldwide. The entity you described in your post is referred to as the Hat Man. It is a very scary and intimidating entity according to the testimony of actual witnesses. Sometimes the Hat Man has red eyes and has scared the crap out of people. I began seeing these entities through my peripheral vision, until they boldly began showing themselves on unlit walls. Not only have I seen them, but also my wife, friends and visiting family members at my home, and it has scared the living hell out of them too.

I learned not to be afraid of them anymore since my theory is that they feed off the vibrations of fear when you react. They have been known to cause paralysis and have been known to actually hold you down or pull your body off the bed at times. C.T. readers will laugh at this, but I do have witnesses in which we’ve seen these entities all at the same moment. There are many extra dimensional beings that we’re not aware of that coexist with ours.

Key West is putting yet another damper on anyone wishing to visit Old Town Key West.  As of Oct. 1 residents will purchase a special permit that allows them to use the residential parking spaces.  So people needing to do business there or to shop will have to find other parking.  One more reason to stay out of the madness!

[Obamacare] A friend was visiting last evening and said how Obamacare saved them from bankruptcy. Recently her husband suffered a false alarm heart attack. The hospital bill was $25,000 and their Obamacare deductible was $6000 so that’s all they owe–$6000! They don’t have the money to pay even that, but she said they’ll work it out somehow and it’s a lot less worrisome than having to file bankruptcy. I think when all those who don’t want us to have health insurance see how well it is benefiting society as a whole, they’ll come around. I don’t even think it’s a year old yet and already it’s helping many of us. I know that such a massive undertaking will have a lot of problems to be corrected, but it is the largest program ever established since Social Security.
[Marathon Journal] In the Keys: Our usual fare is reporting and opinionating on last Tuesday’s Marathon City Council meeting. Sometimes something especially wicked comes our way. There was an amusing Keynoter article and two opinion pieces about the disgraced former School Superintendent Randy Acevedo. He has applied 9 times to the FKAA with the last time being accepted. How can a convicted felon ever get a job with an organization vested with public trust?

There are those who say he paid his debt (but not the half million he and his wife stole from us), but not when you violated that sacred public trust. Stealing nearly a half million dollars is what with Randy and his wife did.

How could the FKAA do this? Because two school board members Hernandez and Highsmith recommended Acevedo. Those two knuckleheads should resign, right? if they think it is okay to hire a convicted felon in theft of tax payer money.

Stealing public money from us is just a joke to the Key West power core. How can residents stand by and let this happen? There are many ways to contact newspapers, public officials, and state officials. If you let this go, then you are telling felon Randy it is okay to steal right out of your pocket right out in the open. Better yet, make your check out to felon Acevedo; save yourself the trouble

card magic
is what magicians use to make their tricks believable. They get the audience focused on the wrong thing so as not to notice what’s really taking place.I got to thinking the other day and it occurred to me that the American public has been the victim of one of the greatest misdirection ever. How often do we hear people in government and the media rail on about the evils of lobbyists and that their influence needs to be diminished? Then I thought, lobbyists are not the issue. The legislators and bureaucrats who allow themselves to be influenced are the problem.
[Minimum Wage] Those that were getting $3 to $5 for flipping burgers now want $15 and bennies to do what a simple machine can do. These dummies are going to kill themselves by getting tossed out of their pads when the landlord jacks up the rent 2 to 3 times what it was. Markets in their hoods will jack up food prices, clothes prices, etc, etc, etc! No matter what you make in dead presidents, the MAN will take his cut and the lords of the turf will to. There ain’t no way to get ahead if you are a dummy!
[Search and Rescue] I conclude that the US Coast Guard is one of biggest wastes of tax money being funded by we the people.  What do they ever do besides picking up a few bales of pot or coke that only serves to keep the street prices up.  Oh right, they do carry out to sea a re-habbed turtle once in a while to great fanfare.  In the meantime the illegal aliens regularly come floating in here unopposed

Obama care rates have not fallen. Like so many other things from the left this just another example of thier crooked three card monti schemes. The new 2015 Silver baseline plan may have a lower premium than the 2014 Silver baseline plan. But that is almost always because the insurance company that held that slot in 2014, and almost always got the largest share of business, significantly increased their rates for 2015.

Then another insurance company, who didn’t write much business and likely now eager to increase market share, decreased their rates and has become the 2015 baseline plan. The second company was able to decrease their rates without much fear because the Obamacare “3Rs” reinsurance scheme virtually protects them from any material losses.

So, this headline about the baseline plans decreasing their rates in so many markets is more about the carriers who sold the most in the first year increasing their rates while the plans that sold very little business, and able to fall back on the Obamacare reinsurance scheme, cut their rates in a no lose attempt to gain business.

Like all the idealogical fantasies of the left you will never be able to put lipstick on the pig that is sociialism.

I didn’t watch Obama’s speech last night, but I know that whatever he plans to do to rid the world of ISIS it won’t be enough in the eyes of McCain and FTR. I don’t think FTR watched it either he’ll just say how it isn’t enough.
WOW I just realized that mr Obama “I can’t bring myself to call him president,he doesn’t deserve it” is a terrified little man in a job he can’t handle. Can’t belive it took me this long to realize it, I must be slow. Thats why I voted for him. FTM “from the middle” I’m an Independant.
Congress has the authority to declare war. Why haven’t they done that? Oh, that’s right, they would have to do something. Don’t want to break that lowest approval rated Congress in American history record. You know the very first Congress Tea Party members were elected to.
President Obama’s approval ratings are so low now – the Kenyans are now accusing him of being born in the United States.

George Bush left this country in horrendous shape. The income gap took a drastic turn in 2007… Right before he left office. The rich kept getting richer but the poor stopped rising and started falling. It is my belief that the Bush Administration setup this country in a way that the rich and big corporations could run this country no matter who is president. Presidents have no power anymore and anytime they try to evoke real change, people within our own government have them killed, which is what happened with JFK.
Obama is essentially powerless but I wish he would at least speak out against all the bullshit corruption within our government. However, now that he is president he probably feels scared to speak out, because he knows it could get him killed.

LAST SUNDAY A COMPLAINER WROTE: “I fell out of the recliner Saturday morning in laughter after reading FTRs daily fiction from Friday. “Easier now than ever to vote.” I sure wish I knew what geriatric meds he’s on. I just relocated here permanently, and changing my voters registration from another Florida county was not as FTR states “easier now than ever”. Thankfully I’m am ambulatory younger person. If I wasn’t, it wasn’t going to happen. Keep up the good entertainment FTR, as a good Saturday morning laugh is good medicine for us realists!”FTR’S RESPONSE. Once again we read a woof from a complainer that is totally and completely without merit or even truth. I’ve been busy, so I haven’t had time to double check the facts. But I did this morning. I made a very brief telephone call to the Supervisor of Elections Office in Key West. I spoke with a very nice lady who told me that all that is required to change your voter’s registration to Monroe from another Florida county is to call their office ((305) 292-3416) and they’ll make the transfer for you. You need to do nothing more. That’s in direct contradiction to the woofers claim. They will handle the transfer over the phone, no work whatsoever on your part.

A new voter, or a voter from another state need only go to the elections web site, to get a pdf file of the voters registration form, print it, and fill it in. Then snail mail it in. Or: new residents from out of state are required by law to change their car registration. Soooooo you can also register to vote at any of the MV offices…there’s one in the Winn Dixie plaza.

donkey dung11By the way, please note that the woofer told us nothing about his/her problems in re registering. The entire posting smells like donkey dung fiction delivered to us by a resident of a different reality.

Sooooo I suggest that the complainer get out of his recliner, curb the addiction to laughing gas, and quit the Donkey Dung fiction writing.

The process of registering to vote could not be easier. If you haven’t done it yet, please do. And, when you’re registering, please consider registering as a Republican. Your right to vote is one of the most precious things that you own. If you don’t use it, you might lose it.

Part 2) Republican governance works. Florida added 18,000 new jobs during the month of August, that’s an increase of 31% from the same time last year. That is phenomenal. But wait, there’s more: last month the entire nation added only 144,000 new jobs. Florida out paced the entire nation in job creation by creating far more than 1 in 10 jobs created nationwide.

Part 3) Obama’s speech last night was spectacularly unimpressive. The scheme he proposed to protect us from Muslim terrorism was not news. It had been leaked and had been the subject of hours of talking head TV time for days. He told us that he intended to combat ISIS with air power, to provide air support and materiel to the Free Syrian Army, and not to put American combat boots on the ground in the battle field.

His plan cannot work. Never in the course of human history has ground been taken and kept by air power. Air power makes the job of the grunts much easier and safer, but it will not take and hold ground.

Providing air power, munitions, and advisors to the Free Syrian Army is an excellent idea, an idea that should have been put into play months ago, but then Obama dismissed the Free Syrian Army as being feather merchants, nothing more than civilians lacking combat training and prowess. Suddenly because of his speech he now sees them as being an effective fighting force.

Obama found himself unable to avoid bragging about what he considers to be successes in the war against terror. He again falsely claimed that he had orchestrated the win in Iraq. We are where we are now largely because he chose not to leave US troops in Iraq. Under Obama, Iraq has degraded from being a functioning democratic/republic to a nation that is on the cusp of falling to ISIS. Obama claimed successes in Yemen and Somalia, yet both nations are teetering on the edge of being controlled by Islamic fundamentalists.

bad-muslim11Obama could not bring himself to admit that Muslim fundamentalism/jihadism is a component of the Muslim faith. He denied that ISIS is Muslim. That, Deer Friends, is startling. As proof he pointed out that ISIS has slaughtered many Muslims. That is true, but they have slaughtered Muslims who they believe lack their piety. Britain’s PM, David Cameron was absolutely correct when he said: ISIS is driven by a poisonous ideology driven by Muslim fundamentalism. Obama does not share that view. Obama refuses to recognize that ISIS is a fundamental threat to the world and to the USA. He denigrates it by saying that it is not a state, it is not recognized by any nation. It is not yet a state, but it calls itself a state and is very close to conquering Iraq and Syria. If it does it we be an extremely wealthy redoubt of terrorism with nearly unlimited funds and a ferocious appetite for more territory.

Obama could not bring himself to admit that ISIS is a clear and present danger to our homeland. In fact most experts who have no political ax to grind are of the belief that we are now less safe than before 9/11.

Obama has no respect for the American people. He keeps repeating that there will be no American combat boots on the ground in this initiative. The fact is that in order to have effective air power, we must have American combat boots on the ground to direct air strikes. It is a highly specialized job, it must be done by Americans. As of now there are about 1400 American troops in Iraq, in his speech Obama pledged to send an additional 450. He said nothing about our troops being headed for Syria. If ISIS is to be effectively combated in Syria, American troops on the ground in Syria is inevitable.

We must combat and eliminate ISIS, if we don’t, we can be certain that they will deliver terrorism to our homeland. I desperately fear that our President lacks the will and the world view to effectively manage the fight against ISIS and the other iterations of Muslim fundamentalism.
