[Innocent Man Freed] During the April 13th Key Largo Chamber of Commerce luncheon, under the auspices of President Elizabeth Moscynski, 5 local individuals were acknowledged for their role in rescuing and freeing an innocent young man from prison. Initially, the State of Florida was seeking to execute this wrongfully accused individual. As time and resistance mounted, the state’s emphasis shifted towards seeking 3 life terms in prison, without the possibility of parole.
During the time it took to rescue and free this innocent man, he was isolated and locked down in solitary confinement on Florida State Prisons’ Q-wing with psychopaths, sociopaths, murderers, rapists and the criminally insane. He would remain there for the next 3 years, until these brave advocates for justice could secure this innocent man’s release.
For their courageous and steadfast pursuit of justice, these 5 men were awarded the “Humanitarian In Courage Award” at the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce luncheon. Their names are as follows: State Attorney Dennis Ward, Former Florida Legislator of the Year Ron Saunders, Editor/Investigative Journalist David Goodhue, Sheriff Rick Ramsay and Former Judge, Monroe County Sheriff and Prison Minister J. Allison DeFoor.
It was an absolutely spectacular event, with the distinguished and generous members assembled, sharing their exuberance and support in every way possible. Thank you so very, very much. Sincerely, John Donnelly, Key Largo, FL

[When Pigs Fly] ln 1909, pigs finally flew. Icarus the pig (right) went on a short flight with John Moore-Brabazon and finally did the impossible.

To the ones who want to confiscate some guns. If you will first confiscate guns from all criminals, drug traffickers, people smugglers, gun smugglers, burglars, rapists, murderers, dictators, crooks in government, regimes bent to take over this country I may consider surrendering my air gun only. I have one more question to all those wanting gun control. How many people didn’t die this year in USA because criminals were afraid to strike at armed home owners, business owners, etc? You cannot answer this question because those crimes did not happen. Furthermore, unarmed people who died as a result of crime cannot tell you their story because dead men tell no tales. When seconds count, police are only minutes away.
The Edmund Fitzgerald sunk on my 24th birthday (November 1975).  There was an intense early November storm.  I lived in Minnesota at the time; most were struck by the tragedy. Edmunds Lumber Co ship found at the bottom of Lake Superior. Link

[Rioting teens] Chicago, Il, and Compton, Ca. Police were overwhelmed with their numbers. How about water cannons, bird shot, or any other crowd stopper? This country is slowly going to hell.
According to the World Health organization, cockroaches have been known to play a role as carriers of intestinal diseases, such as dysentery, diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid fever. It is believed that the cockroach may be a reservoir for a range of bacteria including salmonella, staphylococcus and streptococcus. The cockroach can also harbor viruses such as the polio virus. [Homophobes] Anheuser-Busch chose a man pretending to be a woman to advertise bud light.  So NASCAR ended its partnership with Budweiser over ‘woke’ controversy. National Beer Day is not going to go well for Budweiser. NASCAR has reportedly canceled its roughly $88 million sponsorship deal with Bud Light after its parent company announced their branding partnership with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney. 88 million dollars gone and a staggering drop of around $5 billion in value as Anheuser-Busch’s stock price took a dive. [Mah Jong Continues] While the Big Pine Library is closed, we will by playing Mah Jong at the Senior Center on Lyttons Way at Blue Heron Park.  Wednesdays, 9:00 a.m. start time.  Open to everyone even if you’ve never played before.  Free lunch for seniors afterwards if you’d like to stay and eat
[Non-sense] If you lose one sense, your other senses are enhanced. That’s why people with no sense of humor have an increased sense of self-importance.
[The Censorship Fad] The Davis County, Utah, school district is reviewing the Bible to see if it violates a new state law banning “inappropriate content” from school libraries. An anonymous parent complained that the Bible is “one of the most sex-ridden books around,” containing references to “incest, onanism [masturbation], bestiality, prostitution, genital mutilation, fellatio, dildos, rape, and even infanticide.” A district spokesman said, “We don’t differentiate between one request and another.”
Uh oh! FKAA admin has egg on their face again on the front page of the Citizen! Now there are calls to have management booted and let South Florida Water Management District take over. Apparently word has gotten out that all FKAA executives are only interested in gaining lifetime benefits for themselves and their spouses, and not really concerned with our failing pipeline. Who needs water/wastewater services? It’s really not that important—is it?
[Mayo Recipe] Homemade mayo lasts a week in your fridge. With store-bought mayonnaise costing upwards of ten dollars, this is a good alternative and taste better.
1 large egg at room temperature
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon red or white wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, or more to taste
1 cup (240 ml) neutral flavored oil, grapeseed, safflower or canola are best
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, optional. Link
[Alamo & Beer] The first Texas commercial brewery didn’t spring up until the mid 1850s–just about hundred yards from the Alamo. Founded by German immigrants William Menger and Charles Degen in 1856, the Menger Brewery (sometimes called the Western Brewery) produced a product so good it became a tourist attraction. Of course a brewery needs a lot of water, and that was supplied by the Acequia Madre de Valero, sometimes called the Alamo Madre Ditch. This stone-lined irrigation ditch was built in the 1720s and ran from the San Antonio River to the Alamo mission and then through what is now the Menger Hotel courtyard.
The hotel owes its existence to Menger & Degen’s beer trade. When the brewery opened in 1856, so many people flocked to it that Mr. Menger decided to expand his wife’s boarding house to accommodate them. The fancy limestone Menger Hotel opened its doors to thirsty travelers in 1859.
What do the Alamo Church and the Menger Hotel have in common? The same man was responsible for both facades.

[“FKAA flooded garden”] I have thought about your issue. Any time you dig a deep hole into a low elevation area with a saline water table you are going to get an upwelling of salt water.
These folks do not understand what they are doing and when you dig or drill down you are basically releasing the water from below to the surface. You should document all the plants you planted and lost and the native plants that died, When I do a vegetation survey for land clearing, the mitigation for the native trees that are removed is that you pay the county money for each tree you remove, You can price plants by asking local nurseries what they charge for replacements by size. You can also go on line at look up tree nurseries in Homestead for prices. some post prices on line. Plantant is a source

[Size Matters] Friday’s post stated that Hellmann’s mayonnaise is now $9.59 a quart.  No, it is $9.59 for 30 ounces.  Hellmann’s stopped packing in quart jars in 2006. Link

[“FKAA flooded garden”] An acre foot is 245000 gallons, which means you need at least a foot of rain to get you back to somewhere near normal. There is also pain and stress. I would at least speak with a lawyer.

[Secret Clearance] Why is everyone so shocked that a 21 year old had a secret clearance? I had a secret clearance when I was 21, a civilian, and working for a military contractor.
