![]() It took a few years for Ma Bell to figure out why their cords all had a lot of pin holes in them and that’s why they covered all the cords in flexible metal sheathing. It was nice while it lasted. Another bonus of phone booths and city kids was that we could unscrew the cap on the handset ear end and remove the little speaker. No wires, it just came out. I strung six of them in series and cut out holes in the rear window shelf of my $50 car and had great sound from my $2 junk yard radio. No one was sixteen yet so we’d drive that car in a friend’s field. The speakers lasted longer than the car. |
