[Clueless] Commissioner Heather Carruthers thinks the historic homes in Key west should be modernized. How do you tell someone she’s clueless about historic preservation? Has she forgotten how many people visit the island because of the historically preserved homes? She also says the historic homes are not hurricane safe although most have stood through hurricanes for over two hundred years.

[Power to the People!] Sarasota citizens raised hell over plans to stick them with individual grinder pumps for sewers like FKAA is trying to stick it to us, and they succeeded in convincing the Sarasota County Utility to eliminate grinder pumps on private property. They will instead be putting mini pump stations on public property for small clusters of homes on gravity sewer. That is just what the online petition that started yesterday is asking of us. If you have not yet voiced your support, please do so now. Link

[“Google’s Street View shows Shark Key only up to their gate and no further”] Because Shark Key is private property, including the road and surrounding grounds. US 1 plus so many feet of land on either side going through it is public property

Google’s Street View vehicles will not (yet) trespass on private property or roads to do their surveillance, regardless of the value of the property. This includes dirt poor trailer parks on Stock Island as well as exclusive gated communities like Shark Key.

Street-View-vehicle-GoogleGoogle’s spying techniques mostly reside in the bounds of what is considered public space, being able to be seen from a airplane or space (Google Maps), from the street (Google SreetView) and (what’s really scary) any electronic signal emitting from private property onto public property.

Google records your Wifi location to use in their location databases for apps on Android, tie to your online activity and to sell to others and naturally the government as nearly all major US companies are working closely with the NSA (Thank you Eric Snowden). Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) doesn’t give out your exact physical location based upon your Internet Protocol (IP) address that’s reveled whenever your online, however the Google Streetview vehicles fill that final gap.

There is a opt-out, by adding “_nomap” to the end of your Wifi networks name is supposed to exclude your location, but it doesn’t stop Google from recording it. It can flag one as either extremely paranoid or privacy conscious, which both are extremely interesting to governments previously. But as Eric Snowden has revealed the massive spying going on by the NSA on US citizens, more non-paranoid people and network admin’s are catering to their customers wishes to remain off of Google’s Streetview spying system.

Another method to defer electronic detection is to have a powerful Wifi detector at the edges of private property and then turn down the broadcasting strength of the router so it’s not exiting the property onto public property, especially the public roads. Also to routinely change the name of one’s Wifi’s name and rotate routers occasionally (different MAC address) as a war of attrition tactic, because it’s easier for you to do that than it is for them to pay someone to drive around more often. One can also go to the extreme and paint the inside outer walls of their location with special Wifi blocking paint, especially targeting the sides facing the public road. Securing one’s Wifi network with WPA2(AES) is also vital as it’s the only standard not yet cracked.

Google is a advertising company and anything from them is nothing more than a front for marketing types (and as a result the spooks), the same scum of the earth who call you, send you spam, targeted advertising and generally follow you around waiting upon another chance to pounce to sell you something, or your profile or your locations, or whatever data they can, to others. Like Facebook, they have absolutely no respect for people’s privacy and space, feel it’s entirely within their rights to change the rules of any data you do give them at a moments notice.

Ideally it’s best not to use anything “smart”; computers, tablets, smartphones, smart TVs, etc., because they all are spying on you and anything you provide them or use them for is being actively recorded and in the case of solid state recording media, can’t be securely erased without total destruction. [Rights] On this day in 1915, more than 25,000 women marched on Fifth Avenue in New York City to advocate voting rights for women. Voting rights for women was inevitable just like gay marriage is inevitable. Too bad it has to take so long for the Luddites in this country to see it and waste time fighting it

[“How to Spend BP’s Free Money”] If you were a county commissioner would you rather have your name put on a fancy plaque for a sewer project, or on a plaque for an historic bridge renovation or county park? These folks have big egos and want their name to be known and praised by future generations. Being practical is usually not on their limited agenda. “The Sylvia Murphy Memorial Grinder Pump”
advert-accurate-home-insp8.14.13

[Crooks] Sylvia Murphy says a gravity sewer system would be too costly. But if you add up all the costs to the property owners in the county of installing grinder pumps and paying electricians to connect them to each home and each rental unit, plus the extra maintenance the pumps require, I think gravity would be cheaper. I also think someone is getting free vacations and other bonus form the sewer contractors, otherwise we wouldn’t be having this foolish debate.

[Vietnam] Sunlight breaks through dense foliage around the town of Binh Gia as South Vietnamese troops, joined by U.S. advisers, rest after a cold, damp, and tense night of waiting in an ambush position for a Viet Cong attack that did not come, January 1965. One hour later, the troops would move out for another long, hot day hunting the guerrillas in the jungles forty miles southeast of Saigon.

[Insurance rebuttal] If your first word was if. If I have a heart attack… Insurance is a capitalistic industry based on fear. “what if…” What if the government consulted the doctors and hospitals and asked their opinion of what could be done to reduce health care costs? Then maybe we would have a more conducive resolution to the problem. Oh wait, that makes sense, but so does tightening our borders so illegals don’t run up health care costs by going to the ER and then skipping out on paying their bill. What if you pulled your head out the sand and looked around? Maybe then you could see!

A 70 foot yacht hit the jetty at the entrance of the Northwest Channel yesterday afternoon. I can’t tell you how many boats have hit that jetty in all the years I’ve been paying attention to such things. You’d think they’d have placed a light on it by now. Or maybe a midget waving a flag or something!

[“Why don’t  County commissioners use the BP money to help pay for the sewers“]   Mostly  because it would make too much sense and take some of the strain and pain of the sewers fiasco off the taxpayers backs.  After all, there are defunct restaurants and marinas to buy, ships to sink, pet projects to fund and perhaps even buying a dilapidated bridge to Pigeon Key.  Why bother doing something sensible like helping to fund the sewers when the homeowners and other County taxpayers will have their collective pockets picked and taxes raised for that purpose thereby allowing the BP money to be stashed into a slush fund for future foolish and irresponsible spending while taxes go up?

singer fat lady[Redux] So with all the kindness I can muster, I give this one piece of advice to the next pop star who is asked to sing the National Anthem at a sporting event: save the vocal gymnastics and the physical gyrations for your concerts. Just sing this song the way you were taught to sing it in kindergarten – straight up, no styling.  Sing it with the constant awareness that there are soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines watching you from bases and outposts all over the world.

Don’t make them cringe with your self-centered ego gratification. Sing it as if you are standing before a row of 86-year-old WWII vets wearing their Purple Hearts, Silver Stars and flag pins on their cardigans and you want them to be proud of you for honoring them and the country they love – not because you want them to think you are a superstar musician. They could see that from your costume, makeup and your entourage. Sing “The Star Spangled Banner” with the courtesy and humility that tells the audience that it is about America , not you. And please remember, not everything has to be sung as a Negro spiritual. We’re getting a little weary of that. Francis Scott Key does not need any help.”  Hendrix

A poster on here was all puffed up and zealous about telling us how the Tea Party is growing by leaps and bounds.

I thought it might be a great idea to check out the posters facts and see for myself. I searched for the  Palin and Cruz sponsored Million veteran march which Im sure was going to be hug, mega, monstrous, overwhelming, mega big event with these 2 favorites of the Tea Party. Hell I was thinking D.C. might not even be enough room they probably had to include Baltimore  also for the mega amounts of overflowing Tea Party Zealots.

The Million Vet march was kicked off at about 9 A.M. Yes sir,  they were going to really let the fur fly and bring America’s President to his knees with the huge Tea Party sponsored gathering. Well, I sure hope the 200 to 400 people had an enjoyable day. They could have held the gathering at a gymnasium.

Tea Party support is growing like wildfire?

[“The Right is all the way down to bitching about things before they happen”] It’s called “foresight”,  the ability to predict or plan for the future.  It’s what liberals lack, which is why we have debacles like Obamacare.

Obamacare should use Dick Cheney as a poster child: “Medicare even covers heart transplants for those born without one”.

Government rules and new regulations a lot like our universe there is no end, what would one do if government politicos ceased doing the heavy thinking for us, what would we do, thank you world for the Nancy Pelosis, Harry Reids and Chuck Schummers, that they so graciously relieve us of the terrible burden of directing our individual lives to our own liking.

from the right

thumb down anBy now even the denizens of the deepest of left field must be ready to admit that the roll out of Obamacare has been an immense failure and blot on the Obama administration. The media is full of reports of Americans suddenly discovering that their health care insurance plans are going to cost them much, much more. The media is full of horror stories about people being unable to get into the government web site. The list of roll out problems is long and damning for Team Obama.

But, please think about the fact that setting up the sales process is probably the simplest part of the whole program. The real difficulty will come with patient management, processing billing, etc. etc. etc. You ain’t seen nothing yet.  We are hearing all sorts of horror stories, one of which was a report of a list of some 2,400 social security numbers and other identifying info  that was wrongfully sent to an insurance agent.

Then we just learned that Team Obama knew several days before roll out that the programming was so buggered up that it could not even handle relatively small numbers of inquiries. Nonetheless, because the Republicans were urging a year’s delay in implementation, Obama, in a political snit, ordered it to begin anyway. Now, he and his are suffering the consequences. The ordeal is just beginning, the mess will get much worse.

job22Part 2) The ACA rollout immense screw up has overshadowed much more news that you really should think about. September’s employment stats have just been released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.  BLS reports  that only 148k new jobs were added during September. That’s a reduction of about 25% from August. That’s bad, really bad. But it even gets worse. BLS also reported that a record 90.6 million Americans have dropped out of the labor force.

Many of our female CT community  view Obama and his policies in a very positive light. They shouldn’t.  Women are bearing the biggest burden of suffering as a result of Democrat/Liberal/Progressive policies.

154,000 fewer women held jobs in September than August. Our female CT family members may be shocked to learn that female participation in the  Labor Force now matches  a 24-year low. Way to go O!

You can be certain that full time jobs will become even more scarce as of January when the full impact of the ACA will be launched. Employers of 50 or more full timers will be forced to cut hours so as to avoid the huge costs of the ACA. Democrat/Liberal/Progressive policies are turning us into a nation of burger flippers.
