[Cost of My Sewer]  I got lucky and am scheduled for a gravity system.  The cost to me, the homeowner, for the work?  Permits: $390.  Labour and materials to trench and install the lateral line: $1,790.  Connect to house and pump, rupture and abandon my septic tank then connect to the sewer line when it’s in place: $1,100.  Total: $3,280.  What the hell are the working poor gonna do?  Grinder or gravity?  Either way you’re going to pay big time. (And what is the county going to do with the permit fees?  Likely they will find an old restaurant to buy or sink another ship!).

The sewer guys came down my road and looked over my property. I told them I moved my marker to where I wanted the tie-in to go. He told me he has to go by the sheet I sent in. I told him no way, and that if they did not do what I wanted, I will get a stop work order from the State. He looked at me like I was not there. WW3 may start on BPK!

[“Fuel prices”] Well thanks for the no support. It is good to know that you do not think that we lowly charter boat operators are not “professional” fisherman and that we are not beneficial to the community. Nevermind that this tourist based economy is largely fueled (pardon the pun) by visitors who charter to fish and dive. We generate billions to the US economy and that is many times what the commercial fishing industry contributes. Sorry if you can’t catch your own food.
Nothing saves money like being anti-social.

Thursday a poster defended Sloan saying the faithful all talk to God when they pray so Sloan should not be criticized for his angels.

People’s worries stem from the fact that Sloan says the angles talk to him. Praying to an angel or a god is one thing, that’s you talking to your god, but when you say that god or angels talk to you — that’s entirely different — and crazy too boot!

[Proper Sewers] Why can’t the County use that state money that somehow suddenly became available to fix the old bridge to pay for the sewer system?  Or get a loan or something against it to pay for more gravity systems so nobody has a grinder pump in their yard?  After our critical sewer system is done and paid for,  then do whatever with the old bridge and any other discretionary notion that comes to mind. (Ed: The money is there already for a gravity system. The 1 cent sales tax and the money from the State. The Commission chooses to use it elsewhere.)

Has anyone used an auto transport service to ship their car up north? It doesn’t seem to be a highly (if at all) regulated service, but if there’s a reputable one it would make sense for me due to a mild back injury. Lot easier to fly for four hours then drive for two days.

[Sewers] The connection stake is in the ground, and you better make sure the FKAA ditch diggers do not move the location of where you want your sewer line to run onto your property else you can have all kinds of problems in the future. Best is to have it near your property line opposite any water in lines and not where you drive your vehicles all the time. If they stuck it where you do not want it, move it to the correct spot, but do it now!

Why I stopped reading newspapers

Subaru commercial, very cute. Video
Oh look, Sloan is back. The guy who promised he’d never return here. The same guy who just complained about content not suitable for children but who posted a detailed description of the sores on his penis (and that was on the CT, not your website). Surprising you worry about what the children read, I’m more worried about you being anywhere near a child considering you are an admitted molester of your own sister. He calls anyone who disagrees with him “haters” but uses terms like “Nazi Cow” to insult women. Sloan is only about one thing, making sure people pay attention to him.

[Botox] Not to be unkind (well, maybe a little) but I was noticing the number of people with poorly done facial botox and fillers in a crowd the other day. It was in Miami, so maybe it is the result of low budget clinics. Or maybe the zombie apocalypse has begun. As for me, I’ll just keep taking my glasses off so that I don’t see those wrinkles (mine and my friends’.)

[No Parking Strictly Enforced] Break my windows. Don’t park in front of fire hydrants! This douche bag got exactly what he  deserved from Boston’s 10 alarm fire Wednesday.

I had to laugh when you talked about profit from Lucky’s Landing. I wish them all the best, at least they are trying to make their money work in Obama’s economy but have you looked at the cost of living there? I just pray they do not go bankrupt. It just looks to me you could buy a nice quiet stilt home on a canal in the Keys and not have neighbor noise in your walls for less or equal. And how much was it to keep a boat in the marina? Methinks this might be a bit overpriced, but like I say I’m pulling for them whoever they may be and for the bankers who bankrolled the project. Good luck.
[“Easy home fries”] I found myself critiquing the recipe thinking you should not heat olive oil as it negates the benefits of the olive. Then thinking I never use Lawry’s Seasoning because it has MSG; and then I realized that I am talking fried potatoes, so what the hell!

[Tweeting] Among songbirds, the type of sounds they make vary depending on the habitat. A trilling sound doesn’t carry well through heavy vegetation. So those that trill tend to live in marshy areas and grasslands, where there is less interference. Birds that live in forests and jungles emit warbles and whistles instead, which are less susceptible to echo. Similarly, the ground can absorb high-pitched sounds, so birds that skitter in the underbrush tend to use low, whistling sounds. The songs of musical wrens, which live near the rainforest floor, sound like flutes.

[Gun Nuts] Now that we can shoot our guns in crowded neighborhoods, the paranoid crowd say they want to carry those guns concealed — even for those without concealed weapons permits — if there’s a hurricane evacuation.
[Lucky’s Landing] My wife and I took a close look at those boxes on Little Torch Key. How the hell can folks live like that? They are nothing but bolted together trailers without the wheels, stacked up like shipping containers, just like the ones going into Key West and other sites. She said she thinks they are a religious cult housing things. That’s all we need, more screwballs infiltrating our party islands and bringing more losers to destroy Paradise!

flu shots doctor pad

Tamiflu is bogus and over the counter drugs work just as well. The US has spent over a billion dollars stockpiling the anti-flu drug. Tamiflu reduced flu symptoms only by about a day. This BBC report is the result of a colossal fight for the previously hidden data into the effectiveness and side-effects of Tamiflu. Link

[Joke Friday] How do you make a woman blind?

Put a windshield in front of her!

[Obamacare] It’s working.Once left for dead, the president’s signature legislation is hitting its goals. And it’s changing the political calculus for November. Here is some of the latest news on the Affordable Care Act, otherwise affectionately known as Obamacare. Link

[Nature’s Way] Many women prefer dogs to having children. Same sex marriage is approved. These are some of the headlines we’re seeing these days. My theory is that the world is overpopulated and evolution is kicking in to protect the species. The planet is filling up fast and we’re like cockroaches packed in a jar, but instead of eating one another, we’re not breeding as much. It’s natures way.

[Vietnam Wall] This is really sobering. Click on the link and find the city you went to high school and look at the names. Click on the name and it will give details of the death.

First click on a state. When it opens, scroll down to the city and the names will appear. Then click on their names. It should show you picture of the person, or at least their bio and medals.

This really is an amazing web site. Someone spent a lot of time and effort to create it. I hope that everyone who receives this appreciates what those who served in Vietnam sacrificed for our country. The link below is a virtual wall of all those lost during the Vietnam War with the names, bio’s and other information on our lost heroes. Those who remember that time frame, or perhaps lost friends or family can look them up on this site. Link

[“Marine fuel”] Isn’t ethanol cheaper than gas? E85 is a lot cheaper than E10. I know Ethanol has less BTUs than gas – which is why adding ethanol drops the octane level too.

E85 is an abbreviation for an ethanol fuel blend of 85% denaturedethanol fuel and 15% gasoline or other hydrocarbon by volume, although the exact ratio of fuel ethanol to hydrocarbon can vary considerably while still carrying the E85 label.

A fundraiser will be held this Sunday, April 13th from 1 to 6 pm at Coconuts in Big Pine Key for our friend and neighbor, Steve Boyett.

As many of you know, we all can’t afford medical insurance and Steve fell and shattered his wrist, and needed surgery. This fundraiser is to help Steve and Marie Boyett pay their medical expenses. Please come to support and spread some love and joy at Coconuts this Sunday. Let’s prove we’re one human family.

[Joke Friday] There was a little boy and a little girl in a bathtub having a bath. Suddenly the little girl looked down at the boy.

“Can I touch it?”

“No way — you already broke yours off!”

[“Re-screen Porches”]  There are a number of individuals in the Big Pine area that do good quality screen work.  You just have to catch them when the fishing is lousy and Tom Thumb is out of beer.

an gas can

[Gas Buddy] A very nice app or you can just access with your browser.

Not only will it find your current location and area gas prices, but you can enter cities or zip codes and it will give you prices.  So, if you know you’re going to Marathon you might want to check prices there and if they’re $.20 lower (like they normally are) just wait to fill up. I do this when I’m traveling and near a state border.  Should I fill up in this state or cross the line to lower gas prices? The app also tells you the last time the prices were updated.

If you notice the price at a gas station, update the price on GasBuddy so they are up-to-date for others using the service.

[Screens] Call Claude at Lower Keys Vinyl and Aluminum for your screening. He’s dependable and fair. Business Directory
What’s with the preaching crap on yesterdays CT? If we can’t have world politics, then we don’t want all the mumbo jumbo, nuttso, religious bull crap either. Keep that stuff in its own bottom layer for the crank yankers, will you?
second-nature 760w
[Friday Sarcasm] I bought some fat free oranges at Publix in Marathon the other day. Gross. They were not good at all! Pasty-tasting. Just go for the regular high fat navel oranges. Same goes for the fat free tomatoes – bad! Give me a fatty home grown tomato any time. You only live once. I do go for the fat free salt, it seems that’s all they sell nowadays. Oh well.

[Angle Talk] I recall watching George W. Bush say on national TV that God was telling him to invade Iraq. I, however, was certain it was a demon whispering in George’s ear. The same demon who later told George to invade Afghanistan.

I also recall reading in one of Paul’s letters where he told his readers that Christ would return in their lifetimes and there was no point therefore in them producing any more children, and that was a good reason for them to stop having sex and be like him, celibate, and if they had bought into that, and Christendom had followed suit, it would not exist today, would it?

Dion’s in Summerland won’t even compete with Shell — even a penny. I’m off to Marathon to get my gas, over $300 for the truck and boat, my savings will buy me a really nice lunch and I can shop at Publix.

It appears FTR’s main purpose in life is to bring down our government. He thinks he’s a patriot. So do those guys with guns, in the woods. He reads the internet everyday looking for things to complain about. He can see good in nothing any Democrat does, no matter what it is. Like most Republicans he only cares about the 1%.

When a Democrat does something good he says it’s not good enough. When a Democrat does something bad he blows it out of proportion. I question his stability for having so much hate in him. No one should hate that much, that has to tear out your insides.

When the Republicans were in control he never complained. He never complained when they started two wars that almost bankrupted us and set most of the world against us. Not a squeak from him. He approved. Bush did nothing good. No major good, anyway — only bad things. But let a Democrat try to provide healthcare to the nation and FTR hasn’t shut up for a minute. What does he have against doing good?

Let a Democrat save our economy and he’s bitter that it isn’t enough. Let a Democrat create jobs and he whines that it’s not enough or it’s taking too long. Like all radicals he has no solutions only bitterness and anger for those who try. When there is something good done by Democrats he finds a way to say it was because of Republicans. I’m so sick of his truth twisting.

(Deer Ed, I would have sent this to the political section, but it looks like he picks and chooses what people send in or only prints some of it. Would you make an exception and please print this just once.)

I sent the author of “climate change” an e-mail asking him if he wanted to have it posted in it’s entirety on CT. -FTR

I just received the following from him: “I don’t think I sent it to ED. I intend to respect his wish to limit his engagement in political blogging. If I did it was an accident.  It doesn’t really matter too me. I’m not trying to hide my identity. I was only providing some qualifying details for you as the quackery in “scientific debate” makes it hard to know what’s true and what isn’t. I’ll be more careful.”  Based on that I don’t think there is anything to be gained by publishing the entire posting.  No need to publish a shot at you when it was intended to be private.

(Ed: National politics is back. Click on this link to send your national political post anonymously. No one will know your name or email address, [Well, maybe the NSA will] not even me. FTR is going to be the new national politics editor. Do not fear, FTR promised to post everything, even if he hates it, he’s that kind of guy.)

Yesterday a poster wrote”Very few people know who James Hansen is.  Just another eco-extremist who once called for putting fossil fuel company executives, including the CEOs of ExxonMobil and Peabody Coal, on trial for “high crimes against humanity and nature”.  In June 2006, Hansen appeared on 60 Minutes stating that the George W. Bush White House had edited climate-related press releases reported by federal agencies to make global warming seem less threatening.

Even fewer people know that James Hansen from 1981 to 2013,  was the head of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) and was best known for his research in the field of climatology, and his advocacy of action to avoid “dangerous” climate change.

warm11In 2009, Nobel winning physicist Freeman Dyson criticised Hansen’s climate-change activism. “The person who is really responsible for this overestimate of global warming is Jim Hansen. He consistently exaggerates all the dangers… Hansen has turned his science into ideology.”

Most of us remember in 2011 when eco-extremists raised the level of catastrophic alarm mongering declaring the past decade the hottest decade ever in the last 100 years demanding big-government solutions and enormous wealth transfers. What most of you dont know is James Hansen and his activist crew at NASA had been systematically “adjusting” the historic temperature records.

These “adjustments” were never reported publically by NASA and to this day the Obama Administration nor NASA will comment.  We know of them because skeptical scientists studying our climate noticed distinct differences each year they down loaded updated temperature sets.  The proof is that the original data sets remain on the NASA server and can still be downloaded and compared.  Not even the most ardent adherent to the cause of cAGW deny the “adjustments” and the internet is currently full of cult fanatics hurling the perjorative hate label “denier” to those of us exposing the fraud.

Without these adjustments 2010 is not the hottest decade of the last 125 years nor is any decade hotter than the now cold-adjusted decade of 1930.

This is worth repeating folks, the leftist eco extremists with full awarness of the current administration fraudulently adjusted past warmer temperatures cooler and cooler modern temperatures warmer.  For the ideological zeolots on the left, any means justifies thier desired end even if that means regulating science to a moldy basement box with an asterisk.

James Hansen was forced to resign his position in 2013 after skeptical scientists discovered his “adjustments” and made them public.  The current administration refuses to restore the historic data and continues to tout the fraud that is cAGW even  siting the “warmest decade” lie.  But you’ve gotta admit, it takes chutzpah to accuse Bush of manipulating climate data to make it seem “less threatening”  Link
