[Deer on a Leash] This deer showed up Wednesday with a leash around its neck. I slowly grabbed the leash hoping to slip it over its head, but the deer went crazy and sprung in the air and flipped over backwards – twice! I had to let go of the leash before she hurt herself. I then got a pair of scissors hoping to at least cut the loop at the end of the leash so it wouldn’t get caught on a stick and strangle the poor girl. No luck with that as she quickly ran in the woods and hasn’t returned. I contacted the refuge and Save Our Key Deer folks. P.S. Thanks to your telling us about this poor deer this morning we mobilized the BPK cavalry including volunteers and the Refuge officer I wrote you about earlier today. Once you gave us the location, he actually found the deer but was not able to intercept it but knows the people in the hood and Thursday evening one of the area’s residents was able to get to the deer and remove the leash. A good example of how the feds and residents can work together to solve wildlife problems, although some Fed personnel don’t share that view, and made remarks about how residents complicated the situation by trying to remove the leash themselves earlier today. Well, ultimately it was a resident that helped solve the problem with mutual cooperation. Thanks to you that deer is having a great night! This does not ease, however, the underlying concern of who perpetrated this crime (it is actually a felony) in the first place, and SOKD is looking into ways to help bring the perpetrator to justice. ~Save Our Key Deer |
Tuesday’s CT contained a posting that mocked someone for suggesting that aborted human fetus cells are a vaccine ingredient. Just because it is outrageous does not make it false. Aborted fetal cells are very commonly used in vaccine production. Here is a link to a PDF on the Connecticut government website with links to CDC web pages that show the declared ingredients of common vaccines. Link |
[40% of Marines Have Declined Covid-19 Vaccine] When a Marine is in basic training, he receives a barrage of vaccines in case he has to fight in a diseased location is always ready. The Marine doesn’t make a peep about it. When he was born that Marine received a vaccine that prevented a whole host of diseases. You can still see the scar the vaccine left. Now with Facebook and conspiracy theorists in control of society, our Marine has been brainwashed against the vaccine. Go figure. Have we stopped thinking for ourselves and acting rationally according to science? My big strong Marines have devolved into a bunch of Facebook sissies. God forbid if they are sent to war. Link |
[Friday Joke] Whoops. I accidentally just told my mom, “Happy Mothers Day” to her face instead of on a social media site that she doesn’t have an account for. |
I’m not interested in world domination. Frankly, it’s looking pretty run down and there are too many stupid people |
We went to Crane Point nature area in Marathon yesterday and really liked it. We liked the toe cleaning fish the best. The look like guppies or mosquito fish that are black. It’s really a beautiful place with plenty of water views. The woman at the front desk was really well informed and cheerful. |
[Contamination] Look at the World map of the plague then tell me it’s OK for Cruise Ships and travelers to come to the Keys. |
I’ve been reading about systematic racism and the CRT[?](not Cathode Ray Tube) which is so much propaganda. Let’s look at systematic racism. How did 24% of the millionaires in the country get their money if they were racially held back? They got it the normal way — getting an education and working hard for it. I seriously doubt that it was given by the government’s largesse. And the CRT is just that — a theory. There’s no way to prove bull shit. Distort the information. Modify the data to fit your needs. Create, I say again, create polls to shore up your point. I could create a poll to say anything. A person must be totally gullible, with no independent thought to fall for their lies. I’m not. |
[Electric pedicabs in Key West] It’s funny as you watch the pedal jockey have a nice old couple from somewhere up north. He’s pedaling like a maniac to the amazement of the old folks. Little do they know it’s electric. Got to bump up them tips! |
‘Crazy’ is a term of art; ‘Insane’ is a term of law. Remember that, and you will save yourself a lot of trouble. ~Hunter S. Thompson |
[R.I.P. Herve Thomas] It is with great sorrow and sadness that Monroe County Fire Chief Steve Hudson announced the passing of Firefighter/EMT Herve Thomas of Big Pine Key this week. Thomas died in his sleep while on duty at Station 8 on Stock Island. The County asks for respect and privacy of his family, friends, and co-workers at this time. He leaves behind his wife, Nicole, and daughter, Naima, 14. Thomas was very active in the Big Pine Key community and was especially vigilant in the recovery efforts in the area after Hurricane Irma. In everything he did, he did it to help others. |
[Friday Joke] I invented a new word: Plagiarism. |

I think this is the only remnant of Ron Saunders’ political career. |
[“The Keys aren’t dead they’ve evolved with the times”] Uh, sorry, when I got to the Keys the reefs were teeming with life – micro, macro and pelagic. The reefs are all but dead, even with MOTE’s lab on Summerland. They are the canaries in the coal mine. Also dead in the Keys is the unique flavor they used to possess. My friend, the Keys are dead and have evolved into homogenized safe spaces for the Griswalds to go on vacation. Just watch them build the new “affordable” housing on land we were told was going to be green forever. |
[First Lawsuit Filed In GM Mosquito Release] Meagan Morrison Hull, who lives on Sugarloaf Key, has initiated a “writ of mandamus” legal case filed against the Florida Keys Mosquito Control District for failure to produce public records disclosing locations of the boxes the private bio-tech company Oxitec is using to release potentially millions of mosquitoes. [Friday Joke] A woman gets on a bus with her baby. The bus driver says, “That’s the ugliest baby that I’ve ever seen. Ugh!” The woman goes to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. She says to a man next to her, “The driver just insulted me!” The man says, “You go right up there and tell him off – go ahead, I’ll hold your monkey for you.” |
[Florida Law Seeks To Protect State From Sea Level Rise] The new law will require the Department of Environmental Protection to prepare a flooding and resiliency plan and will provide up to $100 million annually to local communities who identify areas along the coast and other waterways that are at risk to sea level rise. [Gas Shortage] These folks seem to have plenty. I’ll bet they still have hoarded TP from March 2020. What a couple of jerks. I’ll wager their motto is, “I got mine, how you doin?” |
[Riddle] What nine letter word in the English language is still a word when eight letters are removed one by one? Well, just watch the video because you’re never going to guess. Video |
[Foreign Accent Syndrome] Australian woman wakes up with new ‘Irish accent’ days after surgery. Yen first started speaking with an Irish accent 10 days after she had surgery to remove her tonsils. She went to the hospital the same day but as she wasn’t showing any other signs of illness, Yen was sent home and told to rest [and drink some Jamison. And you thought the plague as bad]. Link |
