[Massive Internet Outage] Websites and apps around the world go dark. Countless websites and apps around the world went down for about an hour Tuesday after Fastly, a major content delivery network, reported a widespread failure. Fastly supports news sites and apps like CNN, the Guardian, the New York Times and many others. It also provides content delivery for Twitch, Pinterest, HBO Max, Hulu, Reddit, Spotify and other services. Other major internet platforms and sites including Amazon, Target, and the UK government website — Gov.uk — were affected.

The problem was caused by an outage at Fastly (FSLY), a cloud service provider. The company said on its service status website (which was working) Tuesday morning it had identified the problem and fixed the issue. Service for sites and apps started to be restored a little after 7 a.m. ET, although Fastly said some customers may experience longer load times as a residual effect of the outage. Video

[Public Executions] Since 1609 death by firing squad has been a method of execution in America and should be put in practice today. It should be live, in full color, on daily TV. Perhaps this would be more of a crime deterrent than more useless gun control legislation passed by clueless politicians. Obviously, laws don’t matter to criminals. Years of incarceration are economically costly and don’t address the problems. What are the problems?
[Bribery Works] They should have a contest with many big paydays to encourage people to get vaccinated. When common sense is absent, money always works.
[Crime Planning App] Anom: The app at the heart of the FBI’s major transnational sting. The FBI’s app, Anom, was installed on black market mobile phones that had been stripped of all their normal functions, like the ability to make phone calls or send text messages. The Anom app was the only thing that worked on the phones and it was encrypted—but with the FBI’s own encryption, fooling the bad guys.  Video
[Two Die On Florida Keys Waters During The Weekend] A 59-year-old man died Saturday after the boat he was driving crashed into the mangroves in Key Largo on his 21-foot boat.

Meanwhile, Key West Police detectives are investigating the death of a man found floating in the water around 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Link

[Cute Department] My cousin came to visit today from Homestead. At the last minute, his wife couldn’t come because she had to babysit some itty-bitty kitties. She rescues feral cats, spays them, then returns them to the wild. And she rescues and fosters motherless litters. Here’s a recent litter.

[Prejudice] It has been brought to my attention that Crash Test Dummies are a classic example of White privilege. Why isn’t there any equality? Why no P.O.C. Why no diversity, no LBGTQ, no females? This has got to stop. The whole crash test dummies program is raciest. Cancel the crash test dummies program until it becomes diversified or we will boycott accidents. DOWN WITH CRASH TEST DUMMIES!
[Women] Try to count how many times long haired woman on TV touch their hair. Then count how long between touches because once they get going it’s hard for them to stop.

[Tree vs Bush] A tree is a perennial plant with a single woody trunk and few or no low branches.
Bushes have multiple trunks and low branches.

[Seaweed On Beaches Is Good] Look, we get it. The piles of sargassum mounded on Volusia and Flagler county beaches are not pretty. And as the sun beats down on the brown, slimy piles of wrack, the aroma can be … powerful? Pungent? Pretty darn bad? Link

[Boats] Settees (or saëtia) were a sharp-prowed, single-decked merchant sailing vessel found in the Mediterranean (more in the Levant than in the Western Mediterranean), in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Spaniards also used them in the New World.

[Birds] I saw the first white crowned pigeon of the year last Thursday. Now they’re all over the place. In 2019 the first I spotted was May 22. I missed 2020 (in more ways than bird spotting).

[Recycling] Watch plastic waste become ‘lumber’ for Adirondack chairs. Video

The plague would have been over last year if social media supported the vaccine, and the conspiracy people woke up.

[Pregnant Party Boat] This is what you get nine months after you leave a party barge and an airstream alone with a bottle of tequila.

[Marriage Tip] When proposing to your love, don’t promise to make her happy because every time you fight, you’ll hear about it. Say you’ll do your best.

[Bugs] “WHAT THE F**K IS THAT?” Is the name I give 98% of summer insects
