Letters to the editor with pictures since 0202. Published on Big Pine Key’s garbage days, Tuesdays and Fridays.

[“Emergency contacts”] About 2 weeks ago a gentleman wrote in regarding the confusion when his wife took ill, and first responders or ER staff had no way to know how to get in touch with him at that important time.
Well, sir, take your cell phone and your wife’s and put in the correct numbers to contact each other. Then put those numbers under the name I. C. E.   I. C. E. is an abbreviation of “In Case of Emergency”. Practically all first responders, law enforcement and fire department personnel are aware of this (or should be, if not). This system works quite well when needed. In the event your phone should become lost or stolen, anyone trying anything illegal that pushes the I.C.E. button simply gets the number for husband, wife, mom, dad, son, daughter — whoever you have designated, but no address or any other information, simply phone numbers. Good Luck.
The man who invented SpellCheck died today. May he rust in piss.

[Backpacking in the Keys] When engaging in long marches, the most important thing is to have the right equipment.

[“Canal fine”] To be clear, the fine was for land clean up not done on time. Not a canal clean-up fine.

[Peeling A Pineapple] Peeling off chunks of a pineapple is a ‘thing’ now and everyone is freaking out. A video of a person peeling off chunks of a pineapple went viral when it was shared to Twitter. For the trick to work, the pineapple has to be ripe. Video

[Iguana Killers Club] We also meet on Cudjoe Key, Sugarloaf Key and have branches all along the Keys to clean out these unwanted immigrants.

[“Pictures of view from rental”] To see what is around the interested property, just type in the address in your browser’s address bar and it will come up on screen. Or use Google Earth to see all around it

I’m thinking about trying to get a boat slip at Garrison Bight’s houseboat row. Anyone with any insight on this process please email me at silentfaith1@gmail.com. Thanks.

[Keeping Track of Dead Deer] I was a guest at the Key Deer Protection Alliance meeting last week. I asked why the dead deer numbers aren’t updated for this year. I think it’s a great educational tool. They said they are no longer provided the numbers. #REALLY

[Discrimination] Does anyone know a good lawyer who will sue the Lottery because I play it all the time and have never won and I think they are prejudice against lower Keys people!

The story of the 2001 World Series pitch. Most people are not aware that a secret service guy dressed as an umpire the night President Bush threw out the pitch during the 2001 World Series at Yankee Stadium. Great story! Video
[Recycling Costs Skyrocket] Recycling is a “feel good about me” scam. Even the New York Times is writing that many states have stopped doing it, as much of the recycled material just winds up in the dump’s ordinary trash pile. The only people making money on this is waste management- they showed a nice profit in 2018. Link

[Killer Keyboard Man Rocks the House] Masked man plays piano. Video

Does Country and Western music really retard humans? It seems to in the Keys.
[Dick Dale Dead] “The King of the Surf Guitar” and composer of “Miserlou,” has died. As Jimi Hendrix said in Third Stone From The Sun, “You’ll never hear surf music again” Shred on! Link

[Coach Available] Are there any baseball or softball leagues in Big Pine that need coaches or managers? I managed and coached teams from t-ball to seniors in high school to U.S. Marine softball team. If you’re interested, please email me at marine1369@yahoo.com

[Give ‘em Hell, Harry] You can’t get rich in politics unless you’re a crook.  ~Harry S. Truman
[Supermoon] Supermoons on the first day of spring are an astronomical doubleheader coming this Wednesday. We’ve got a doubleheader of astronomy action this Wednesday: The final ‘super moon’ of the year and the vernal equinox, which marks the first day of spring. Video
I didn’t realize how old I’d gotten until I tried to make dinner reservations for three o’clock so I could be in bed by five.
[Flood] What was once a river now covers most of the land.  Most road systems are covered with water. The people of West Point, NE sandbagged their town and saved it. His drone sees all. Video

Mānuka honey
is a monofloral honey produced from the nectar of the mānuka tree, Leptospermum scoparium. The honey is commonly sold as an alternative medicine. While components in mānuka honey are studied for their potential antibacterial properties in vitro, there is no conclusive evidence of medicinal or dietary value other than as a sweetener. Link

My long-term goal is to improve on my short-term memory. My short-term goal is to remember what my long-term goals are.
[“Hangover Feedback”] “mine went up 90 points just reading your post blaming others”. Nah, yours if from too tight a grip!

Maybe men should bring back the stone age club to satisfy todays’ bleeding-heart bimbos and turn them on like we men used to! We men could also write recipes to cook lawyers in big pots. Yes!

[Sexually Confused] ‘Tranies’ are not confused, they just dry up and blow away!
