As a Vietnam vet I want say that when I got off the plane returning home from Vietnam I was called a baby killer in the airport. I couldn’t get a job if I told them I had been to the war, they thought we were all crazy (well, they were probably right) straight from the war, dumped on the street, right out of a daily life or death situation how the hell would you act?

I did the best I could. I lied about my service, got a job and tried to forget. I absolutely love it when someone thanks me for my service.

[“We accuse Cuba of keeping political prisoners and yet we keep most of our political prisoners right there in Cuba”] There is no such thing as political prisoners. They are enemy prisoners – period! When you understand that, you might have a chance of surviving the coming war. Happy Memorial Day.
an_fishing_dock[Fishing] I was out with my friend one day, complaining about not catching anything. He said, “It’s not called catching, it’s called fishing.”
[“Cloud for Dummies”]  Remember that you are trusting your data to the cloud servers – the safety of your data depends on what security is used,  Username / password does not get it done!  Public/private encryption keys are much better, remember it is your data, can you afford to have it compromised?

[Soyuz to the Launch Pad] The Soyuz TMA-09M spacecraft is rolled out by train to the Baikonur Cosmodrome launch pad, Sunday, May 26, 2013, in Kazakhstan.

Expedition 36/37 Soyuz Commander Fyodor Yurchikhin of the Russian Federal Space Agency, Flight Engineer Luca Parmitano of the European Space Agency, and Flight Engineer Karen Nyberg of NASA, are set to launch to the International Space Station Tuesday night Eastern U.S. time, Wednesday in Kazakh time. Yurchikhin, Nyberg, and, Parmitano, will remain aboard the station until mid-November.

Fanci Seafood will be closed on Sundays until August. Everyone have a great summer!

egg28[Radiator Fix] An emergency fix for a car radial leak is to crack an egg into it while the car’s running. The egg will solidify, and the particles will plug the leak.

I don’t know about this emergency fix as I think it would cause more damage than cure, but I guess if you’re stranded in the desert it might be worth a try.

That little wind turbine money-wasting project down here is a good example of what is going on all over this country in the name of green. People received stimulus money for green projects that were basically worthless, therefore screwing the the government and cheating the  taxpayers out of a lot of money. At last count there were over 10,000 full sized wind turbines that were subsidized by the government that are not even connected to the grid. They are rusting away and have produced no electricity. I have found that most folks who wave the green flag do it so that they can feel they are doing something good, but their knowledge of real engineering and science is sorely lacking.

[Climate Fail]  Climatologists are pessimistic that political leaders will take any positive action to compensate for the climatic change, or even to allay its effects. The longer the planners delay, the more difficult will they find it to cope with climatic change once the results become grim reality. Link

[“Smartphone Hologram” reply] In the near future your smartphone will fit into you Depends and vibrate to a frequency of your choice when income tax is due!

louie28The song “Louie Louie” by the Kingsmen might not strike you as Federal Bureau of Investigation material. But the song was under investigation by the FBI for two whole years. The bureau’s interest had to do with the lyrics of the song, which most listeners find either confusing or simply impossible to understand.

Part of the FBI’s job is to fight obscenity, and in the FBI’s files on the case, they explain that a teacher from Sarasota Junior High School in Florida complained that the lyrics to the song were obscene.

“The lyrics are so filthy that I can-not enclose them in this letter,’” the complaint read. “We all know there is obscene materials available for those who seek it,” it went on, “but when they start sneaking in this material in the guise of the latest teen age rock & roll hit record these morons have gone too far.”

At the end of the two years, the FBI didn’t even exonerate “Louie Louie,” they simply said that “the lyrics of the song on this record was not definitely determined by this Laboratory examination, it was not possible to determine whether this recording is obscene.” Link

[“Kiddy porn”] That is an illegal sickness only in America. Ever been to Nam, or any other 3rd 4th world shithole? There are no rules for sex in most of these worlds. Goes to show that humans are nothing but insects like all living creatures. It has been suggested to make two kinds of punishment for all crime: Deportation forever or out right termination. Good ideas, both.

[Community Peace Parks] Ring a Peace Bell for peace at one of the Keys locations or buy one for your yard. Link

Do you feel safe enough? Here is a list of law enforcement agencies that have a presence in the Florida Keys. Did I miss any?

Key West Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, Monroe County Sheriffs Office, U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U. S. Coast Guard, Immigration & Naturalization Service, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Federal Bureau of Investigation. The US Navy.

Do you still feel the Keys are so dangerous that you have to carry a gun?

The bright planets in these scenes are plain to the naked eye, but the fainter stars may be hard or impossible to see in bright twilight. The scenes are about three fist-widths at arm’s length wide. They’re drawn for the middle of North America but will be good enough throughout the world’s mid-northern latitudes.

To the Memorial Day poster posting about Kevin. Memorial Day is about dead people. Not living veterans. We have another day for that. I take it as shameless to use this day that we all should use to reflect upon our fallen men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defence of us to instead troll for beer and smokes and junk food for anyone, vet or not.

[Wind turbines kill more than 573,000 birds each year] Wind turbines, the oil companies get huge fines when one bird gets stuck in its waste areas but the environmentalists give the turbines a free pass and the kill bazillions of migratory and resident birds and sea birds. How come the the green crowd doesn’t  care about the birds now? Oh, maybe in their haste they just are too stupid or ignorant. The bird kill from these is incredible if you didn’t know but, shhhh, don’t tell anyone, we just need the fine money from big oil and wind gets a free pass from the Obama regime.

[Say No to Dredging] I researched a 16-page, two-month analysis of the ungodly mess that cruise ships excrete, stories in major newspapers including those in Boston, Chicago, Miami, New York, Los Angeles, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes and Business Week, plus 42 books citing the damage cruise ships generate. They are phenomenal polluters. Ahead is either a healthy future and ensured tourism, versus disease and environmental devastation linked to economic decline?

I remain of the view that Key West should ban cruise ships altogether, and also ban the cruise ships’ loud air-and-street-clogging remora, conch trains and trolleys. Clean up cruise ship land, air and sea pollution in Key West.

A Skeeterbag combined with a 20” box fan is the most effective mosquito trap ever invented. There are other mosquito control devices but in terms of effectiveness, environmental impact, and cost Skeeterbag Trap Kits are superior.

Has anyone tried the Skeeter Bag mosquito trap? Link

My wife would like to do some water aerobic exercise. Anybody have any ideas?

[God vs God] On this date in 1588, the first of 130 ships in the Spanish Armada set sail from Lisbon, Portugal, bound for the English Channel. The armada was defeated by the weather. Although both the English and Spanish had “God on their side” The English God seems to have been the better of the two. Oh, you say, they were the same God?

[Fear Factory Posters]  “I have met the enemy and he is us” is more accurate. Suicide tops the list over all of the things in your list. Your statement that your God is the one true God is still disturbing, as are extremists in any religion

[Veteran] On Memorial Day I was wondering about exactly what it was that qualified a person to rate being called a military veteran.

[Conspiracy: Operation Gladio] A covert operation conducted and orchestrated by the CIA, MI6, NATO, The U.N. and the British and U.S. governments. During post war Europe, in order to convince the people that the Soviet Union was a serious threat to their freedom, Operation GLADIO came into effect creating false flag terrorist acts amongst innocent citizens in Europe. The same tactics are now being perpetrated here in the U.S. Link

[Keys Energy Wind Project Sabotage] I agree that Keys Energy intentionally wasted a lot of money on wind turbines knowing if they installed them incorrectly and failed to use them properly that the project would be deemed a failure and they could continue business as usual.

[Captain Doom and Gloom] Hurricane season panic attacks are starting already. It seems to be the same con that they use for Holiday buying. Get Prepared, Buy this, Buy that, Be ready. Maybe they are right this year, but with insurances going nuts and the developers sitting on tree branches waiting to devour our islands, I say screw it, let Mother Nature have her way and clean off the trash.

Reading the newspaper is like reading a demented propaganda page from Pravda. Everything is so bias, spun, and twisted into false ideas, it seems nothing is truth anymore. The problem is, you have to read it so you can defend against their BS and lies. Scary!

“Why did God create mosquitoes?” A better question is “Why did God create people?” Answer: to feed the mosquitoes.

[Republicans] They are so hateful of our government that they are criticizing Governor Christie for thanking Obama for the immediate help he gave New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy. This is how far out of touch with Americans the Republicans are. It’s no wonder they are the butt of jokes.

[Blaming the Wrong Man] A poster on here believes the growth of Islamic fundamentalism in Europe and around the world (which has been growing since the days of Ronald Reagan crowing about how he was forgiving Gaddafi) is really our current President’s fault. What a crock of pachyderm poop. Someone is missing about 20 years of history from their history primers.

I guess the Lockerbie bombings and other Muslim attacks such as the Munich Olympics and London train bombing were all planned by our President while he was in grade school or high school. Its fine to hate your country and its President but to try and rewrite history and spin your hatred for America into a diatribe about how its all America’s fault that Islam’s populations are growing in Europe is a fools folly.Posters with their daily “Blame Americas President first” mindset emboldens our enemies and gives them support from our own citizens.

The poster won’t mention the proven fact that one of the reasons for the growing Islamic presence in places such as Yemen is because the Iraq war and Afghanistan wars forced quite a few of these people to leave those countries. They were forced to find other places to operate. If you think Americas President has a say in what other continents do concerning their own immigration problems you are simply using the recently popular way of the Republicans in blaming America first instead of placing blame on the countries themselves.

There is a reason, supposedly intelligent and well informed, posters did not mention the fact that Ambassador Stevens on two separate occasions before the attacks in Libya refused increased security

The reason Republicans act as if they didn’t know about the refusal for more security is that it goes against their “blame Obama first” mentality. They are blind to factual information that goes against their myopic visions. Lets remember, folks, that it was Republicans that forced security cutbacks at our Embassies and it was Republican members that demanded other cuts but were not able to get them passed.

right only grey

an_tank_skeetYesterday we were treated to one posting that was very illuminative of the liberal/progressive/Democrat mindset.  The message was that the Republicans are responsible for all wars, torture, the precipitous decline of our nation/society, and for the unjust enrichment of our achievers. I can see how that belief must be seductive, after all only rarely are we able to assign blame to ourselves.

First let’s look at who was in power at the beginning and end some American conflicts since the 2nd WW.  WW2 was started and ended during Democrat Governance. Korea was started under Democrat governance and ended under Republican governance. In 1950 Truman sent the first group of military advisers to ‘Nam. But it was Johnson who sent the first troops in country in March of 1965. Saigon fell in April of ’75 as the culmination of huge pull downs of American Support. Republican Gerald Ford ended Viet Nam, a fight that Truman had started.  Then there was Bosnia. The US became war fighters in Bosnia under Clinton. Clinton also ended the conflict. The Grenada invasion was started and ended by Reagan. The Beirut intervention was begun and ended by Eisenhower. It was Republicans that brought the cold war to an end. “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down that wall!” It was a Republican President that forced Libya’s dictator Kaddafi, to end his sprint to nuclear weapons. It was a Republican President who normalized our relations with China.

The most common bitch from the left is about Iran 1 and Iran 2. We will never agree whether or not the conflicts were justified.  But history is absolutely crystal clear that both conflicts shared near unanimous support of Republicans and Democrats..  Further, the anti-Hussein war fighters were a giant amalgam of war fighters from throughout the world and were operating under the auspices of the United Nations. History is also crystal clear that the Democrats had the legislative ability to end both wars, but theydemurred.  So, blaming the wars of the world on the Republicans is a fool’s errand.

an runningAs to the whimsical notion that the Republicans “favor the rich”.  Please consider the incontrovertible fact that the Democrats have had defacto control of our government and our economy for the past 6 and a half years.  In the past 6 ½ years our economy has gone in the toilet. Nonetheless the stock market is at record highs. The rich get richer as the poor get poorer.  The Democrat record for showing concern for the working persons and minorities sucks. Unemployment for women, youth, and minorities has skyrocketed under Democrat governance.

The median household value of transaction accounts (checking, savings, etc.), retirement accounts, and certificates of deposit have all declined since 2007. These types of assets are also some of the most common – held by 93 percent, 50 percent, and 12 percent of American families, respectively. Meanwhile, the median value of other asset categories, namely stocks, pooled investment funds, and bonds, has seen a boost. Unfortunately, it’s likely that high net worth households are driving the increase rather than those in financial trouble.  Simply put, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer under Democrat governance.  It has always been so.
