[Senior Center Torn Down] That building could be repaired if they wanted to. After years without maintenance the spalling on the Senior Center finally got the attention of developers who urged the demolishing of the building. With that building gone, there will be a whole swarth of land for the developers to build “affordable” housing. The jail, playground and the Senior Center makes a nice chunk of connected land to develop. Trust no one’s motives in government. The outline on the picture is just my imagination to see a rough outline of the property where the housing will go. They can always buy and demolish the existing couple of houses that are in the way of such a big project.

This new wrench is amazing. One side is standard SAE and the other end is metric. Why did it take so long to invent something so logical?

[Civic Class No Longer Taught] “A Soldier’s Journey by John Donnelly” A story such as this should be included in our school curriculum and public discourse. Honest, intelligent and factually based discussions on issues of importance are critical to our survival as a nation. Perhaps an individual of Mr. Donnelly’s caliber, would be willing to facilitate conversations taken into our schools to raise awareness and uplift the consciousness of our children. My understanding is that he has intervened on behalf of parents and students on a multitude of issues. Hope his published work continues to appear in the Coconut Telegraph.
[China Gears For War] China’s accelerated military buildup is progressing at breakneck speed. I wonder why? Are they going to take on the USA by attacking Taiwan? Last week they tested a revolutionary new hypersonic missile that could be a game changer.Right now, they are building 3 ballistic missile fields in addition to the missile silos they already have. Each field contains a hundred silos. The fields are out in the open, so they have some kind of dome covering what’s going on inside the silos that our satellites can’t see. The thing is, they are building all of them at once. Each silo is a big thing!

They already built a new island in the South China Sea on some flats off the Philippines and now they are building a military base on it. Everyone knows China is going to attempt to take over Taiwan, but we don’t know if the US will actually go to war over it after our tragic Mideast experience. Link

[Integration In Your Face] With most television shows as well as commercials seeming to be pushing the mixed race and mixed sex lifestyles, I have finally decided that my time is better spent watching good shows on Netflix and escaping into the thousands of books in my local library. Hopefully, there will come a time, once again, when our lives aren’t programmed by the entertainment industry. Patience please.

[The World’s Gone Crazy] Boy in dress wins Homecoming Queen in Missouri (he is cute). Video

I’m freezing. I’m going to put on long pants for the first time this year.
Fridays CC was soiled with an anti-Catholic rant.  First, in the spirit of full disclosure, I am not a Catholic, I belong to no church whatsoever.  I am not a religious person.  But I am deeply concerned with the ratcheting up of hate for all religions, especially Christianity. Second, I wonder if our Deer Ed would have published that anti Catholic rant had it been directed at Jews? Deer Ed, don’t provide a forum for religious bigotry. (Editor: I pray forgiveness from Catholics. That rant should have been on the politics page.)
[Destination Fee, Resort Fee, Parking Fee] When you pay $300 for a room you are then nickel and dimed to death by their extra charges that the greedy bastards tack on and you cannot opt out of. They should be illegal. If you advertise a room’s price it should include all mandatory charges. That’s what the price is.

[Senior Center Kaput] In case you haven’t seen Friday’s Barometer, the Senior Center is kaput. It has nothing to do with Covid; the building is unsafe and will probably be torn down. We’ve noticed spalling on the ramp side & there is probably far more that we couldn’t see.
If women are so perfect at multitasking, how come they can’t have a headache and sex at the same time?
[We Will Bury You] This is a sobering reminder. It’s been almost sixty-two years since Russia’s Khrushchev delivered this. Many of you may not remember his quote or even were alive when Mr. Khrushchev of the Soviet Union made his remarks. Do you remember September 29, 1959?.Were you born? How old were you?
“Your children’s children will live under communism. You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept communism outright; but we will keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you will finally wake up and find you already have Communism. We will not have to fight you; We will so weaken your economy until you will fall like overripe fruit into our hands. The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. ~ Nikita Khrushchev

[Bird Dog] A pelican befriended a stray dog that was hanging out along the docks.  The man who photographed this image adopted the dog and takes him back daily to see his friend.

[“A Soldier’s Journey”] Is a gripping and grounded rendition shared by a battle wounded Veteran seeking purpose and meaning in life. Our teacher, Mr. Donnelly and students at school, would stockpile clothes donations for the homeless in his classroom. Each winter, on his visits to the Miami VA he would distribute these items to people living on the street. Some students wrote letters and included cassette tapes that he shared with our new-found friends. Mr. Donnelly instructed and taught us through his distinguished service and example. Link

[Nit-picking Old Farts] ] You know your old when you argue with your spouse about the phone charger location and whose charger it is.
[21 Century vs Muslims] Poll shows two-thirds of French people believe Christians ‘threatened with extinction’ by mass Muslim migration. Link

Bacon
cannot solve all your problems. That’s what beer is for!

I ordered 200 checks from Checks In The Mail who were always the cheapest, but no longer. They wanted $60 for 200 duplicates. I went to old faithful, Amazon, and got them for $30! Checks In The Mail used to always be the cheapest.
[Tesla Recall] They are recalling nearly 12,000 vehicles over a software communication error. What happens when they have self-driving cars and this happens?

Is this the new world order?

The United Way of Collier and the Keys has awarded a series of “Creating the Next Generation of Reef Steward-Marine Science Education Grants” throughout Monroe County, with a focus on expanding opportunities and education for students in marine science and conservation. UWCK’s five-year commitment will provide $180,000 to schools and educational facilities throughout the Keys. This year, over $23,000 has been awarded as part of the grant program, with funds providing educational experiences and an expansion of resources to seven schools as well as three marine science non-profit organizations.
[Snail Mail] I recently had the need to mail my check to windstorm insurance in Jacksonville, Fl, so I mailed the renewal bill and check in the return envelope and put it in one of those Priority Mail envelopes with the little window. It cost me a whopping $8.70 to mail this envelope. That Priority envelope that was to be 2 to 3 days delivery time actually took 10 days to arrive! I found that walking in a straight line (which would be impossible, but fun to calculate) would take me 7 days 18 hours.

[Russian Etiquette] When toasting, after you say “na zdrowie” (cheers, to your health),  don’t sip, slug the entire shot, then put the glass down hard to indicate a refill!
[Expensive Dining] My wife and I went to dinner in KW the other night. Never again! The prices are out right robbery. Are they nuts or what? A typical dinner is over $85 per person! And that’s not including libations. No wonder that dump is failing
[War Helicopter Pilots] Every year as Veterans Day nears, I watch “God’s Own Lunatics”, narrated by War Correspondent Joe Galloway. I have had many friends who were helicopter pilots in the Vietnam war. The video always brings tears. I was fortunate in that I was not in heavy combat in Vietnam. I served in a USAF Red Horse Squadron. Our units constructed airbases for the US Air Forces and Vietnamese Air Forces.
Yes, those Vietnam Veterans that came home alive were treated like garbage. Those days are past. It is our duty to the help those Veterans who served our Country during the other wars and conflicts. Link
[Vaccines] Mandates work. If everyone got some vaccine the pandemic would be over by Christmas. I’m sorry if your feelings and pride are hurt, but I don’t want you getting me sick, you selfish turnip!

[Offensive Ads] Totally offensive vintage ads. How did these ever get the green light? Link
